Key Lime Pie
Tracy Z.

Came for a late brunch (breakfast only on Sundays) around 1:30pm ~ Both got an omelette (which I thought would have the ingredients mixed in the eggs but it's more of a stuffed omelette ..so heads up!) - i got the build your omelette and tbh was misled on the toppings i could add... as the waiter was by confused too. Before I ordered I confirmed with her that the "up to 3 toppings" meant if I can choose 3 toppings before I get charged the add on prices - she said yes - then I get the bill and each ingredient was charged and the other waitor confirmed it meant that you can just choose 3 ingredients to be IN the omelette... lol so otherwise I wouldn't have chosen to lays $2.50 for Hollandaise sauce + $6 other toppings.. lol But overall the waitor - we were at the bar was great. Though they ran out of pie - we were finishing up our meal just in time when the new round of pies were ready and she checked back in with us if we still wanted! Overall the pie - very tangyyyyy, not a big meringue person but tbh think it didn't add anything to the pie lol in terms of flavor ,

We had a great experience here, even if it did happen during a record-breaking downpour! The umbrellas outdoors held up pretty well I will say! Our waiter was amazing. Food was also wonderful. The key lime pie lived up to everything I heard about it! If there's a wait, there's a bar right across the street you can wait at. The bar is cash only, just a heads-up. So many great dishes to choose from! Everyone loved what they ordered. Definitely a must when visiting the island!

Really good slice of pie. Went to the outside location across street from restaraunt. It's wild how wild roosters are all over the island and beg for a bite like a dog. Not too many seats but since it's pie only people are in and out. I think it was about 14 dollars a slice. Was very good. I know this place is known for the large quantity of meringue but I prob could do half that and be happy. Worth going to but it was nothing mind blowing

What a unique experience! Fun and eclectic decor! Delicious food! Lovely atmosphere, and friendly staff! The ceviche with plantain chips was recommended by our server, and it hit the mark! Delicious way to start our meal! I went with a pork tenderloins, and I cannot tell you how good that was! I destroyed that plate so quick. Absolutely phenomenal!

Shrimp Benedict

Blue heaven is always great. Fun spot. Great staff. Lobster Benedict is always the best choice! Shrimp Benedict is also excellent. Arrival early if you going for breakfast. No reservations! Get a key lime pie!

Shrimp and Grits

Outdoors at the bar and food came fast as we had the attention of a very professional barmaid. Great ambiance with live music and the various banter and chickens roaming the area. The Shrimp & Grits, probably the most well seasoned and flavorful I have in a very long time. Eggs Benny with a good thick slice of smoked ham was prepared as advertised with two proper poached eggs. Unfortunately the Hollandaise sauce was tasteless and lack that zesty punch and was served very sparingly. Overall would go back. Great cup of coffee and tasted like fresh squeezed OJ

Lobster bacon tomato omelet

We went to Blue Heaven after hearing about indulgent brunch and some of the best key lime pie in Key West. One out of two was correct. The brunch was delicious. Both Husband and I ordered the special omelette, with lobster, bacon, and tomato. The dish was rich and delicious, with an entire lobster tail and plenty of bacon. To top it off, the omelette was accompanied by a slice of banana bread. We were not impressed by the key lime pie. Although the pie looks impressive, topped by a huge mound of meringue, it tasted a bit stale. Its consistency was heavy, and the meringue flavorless. Don't let the pie, however, stop you from going to Blue Heaven. The brunch is great service is friendly, and you can't beat the atmosphere, eating outdoors with the chickens and artwork. Tip: arrive early to avoid a long wait.

A friend who has a home in Key West recommended this place. Said it was a must visit spot. Once I visited, she was very correct. She warned me that either you get there early or there may be a bit of a wait. We arrived around 9am, and there was about a 30 min wait. We had a table for 4, if you were waiting for a table of 2, the wait would be longer. The nice thing is there is a little bar/coffee shop across the street with seating. You can order while you are waiting for your table. The place does only take cash though just a small note. You are seated outdoors and surrounded around trees. It is so beautiful and so Key West. The food was amazing. They are known for their lobster breakfast items. I had Lobster and Grit. In my mind I was thinking little diced up lobster but no, it is a full lobster on top of grits and it was amazing. Brunch pricing is reasonable. I was also told they have the best key lime pie, while Its not really my thing, I imagine it is because it is huge and takes up an entire plate! This is totally a spot you need to try to get into if you are in the area.

A great last dinner at Key West! Such a cute place with a lovely outdoor dining area and live music. We had a large group and enjoyed our meal. I got the surf and turf which was delicious.

Gone viral on tik tok so when near had to check it out. Walked right in with a few roosters and sat at the bar. Grabbed a mimosa and breakfast. Bacon was perfect. Banana bread was delish. Pricey for two mimosas and basic breakfast. $78 for one. Be prepared.

A must visit in Key West! Highly recommend making an early breakfast reservation. The line was out the door as we were leaving around 9-10am on a Saturday. Love the ambiance of the trees and the chickens. I ordered an omelette with a side of banana bread. Some of the best banana bread I've ever had and you can smell it baking while you're seated. I appreciated that my omelette was cooked just right. Our table finished the meal with one of the key lime pie slices. Highly recommend sharing because they're huge. I wasn't big on the meringue but the rest of the pie was delicious.

Read online that this was a must visit in key west and have to agree. The set up is nothing fancy - plastic chairs under umbrellas. It is pleasant ambiance still with lots of trees and shade (and chickens haha). Service was a bit slow but our server was doing it all - making drinks and had a huge section to tend to. She was super helpful and friendly though so no problems there. All the food was absolutely delicious. The vegetable platter was super flavorful. Loved the portobello "steak". Our server recommended the banana heaven and as a banana lover it was sooooo good!

Key Lime Pie

First authentic key lime pie. I wish I would have done some research before I came to key west for what's the best and what's a tourist trap, but it was too late. The key lime pie was good! I enjoyed it. I always thought the cream on top would be more of a cream rather than what it was.. I dont know not my fave! But good overall!

Blue Heaven Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Blue Heaven

Non alcoholic beverages?

Yes of course. They make special coffees as well.

I'll be on a cruise is it within walking g distance from the port?

Yes! It's a small island

Can they accommodate large parties?

They may however, the hostess was so rude and the keylime pie was such a let down. Publix makes a better pie. I wouldn't even waste my money

Is it Pet Friendly?

I would think yes because it's mostly outdoor tables but might be an issue because there are lots of chickens and roosters free roaming. I'd be concerned with that and chicken feces. Maybe give them a call directly.

Does the pancake at Blue Heaven contain eggs in it?

yes

Do you recommend Blue Haven for Breakfast, lunch or dinner?

Breakfast and dinner!

Do they use fresh pineapple in the pina colada?

I am not sure.

How late do you serve breakfast on Sunday?

Yes

What is the wait like on a Saturday night? We're first timers to key west, only here for one night, and don't want to miss sunset at mallory square!

I would call to check specifics. I believe they only take reservations for large groups.

Do you take reservations?

no they don't

How do you make reservations?

cant make them

Is the outdoor are dog friendly?

Yes.

Where are the closest parking options?

Petronia Street is a small, wonderful food corridor but parking enforcement will ticket cars without residential stickers that are parked in spots marked ‘residential permit.’ Parking is easier to find down along Irma Street, just a block away.…

The restaurant is tucked away on a back street, far from the usual tourist spots, which adds to its charm. The food is authentic Cuban cuisine -- and I say that after decades of living in and around Hudson County, NJ, where the Cuban community is large and vibrant. At El Siboney, everything tastes fresh and homemade, with generous portions and prices that are refreshingly reasonable for Key West. This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Dinner for two, including dessert and tip, came to about $100 -- a great value for the quality and quantity of food. El Siboney remains one of my favorite places to eat in Key West.

While I was checking it out, the bouncer at the bar next door told me it was worth a visit, which sealed the deal. Later that evening, I convinced my friends to go with me. They were expecting a full sit-down dinner, but this is more of a counter-service spot with 6-7 bar stools inside. The setup is simple: place your order at the counter, then either grab a stool or head to the bar next door, where they'll bring your food when it's ready. We chose the bar's patio, which gave us a clear view of the restaurant. It was reassuring to see other groups having their meals delivered over too--it felt like we had discovered the right local gem. The wait was about 25-30 minutes, but that only confirmed everything was being made fresh. And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. Our group ordered two jerk chicken plates with plantains, mac n' cheese, and slaw; one oxtail with black beans, rice, and mac n' cheese; and one jerk burger with fries. Every single dish was a hit. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky spice and heat from the scotch bonnet peppers, balanced with bold Caribbean flavors. The oxtail was tender and flavorful, and even the sides like mac n' cheese and plantains stood out. All in all, this was easily one of the best Caribbean meals I've had anywhere. A true must try when in Key West.
