Driving through Vernonia and feeling a bit hungry. Wasn't expecting to find Greek food in the small community. Had the gyros platter, which basically was like having the gyros ingredients served on a plate rather than as a sandwich. The meat was quite tasty a blend of lamb and beef. Tazitki sauce was exceptional. Feta on salad made nice flavor and hummus was done right. Served with pita bread. Nothing fancy... but the absolute best Mediterranean food. A real surprise for little Vernonia. I'm glad they moved into town. The fresh made pita bread is outstanding. The sampler platter is outstanding... get your OWN dang platter... too good to share! LOL! This place is worth the trip to Vernonia. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere is a great Middle Eastern restaurant that is run by an Armenian family. I took a special trip to eat there, it was worth the trip. They close for the Winter, but if you find yourself within and hours drive of Veronia, go the the Blue House for a great meal. read more

Blue House is a hidden gem! We ended up coming in for a late afternoon lunch after hanging out at the Vernonia swimming hole and were not expecting such incredible food. We enjoyed it so much that we came back to Vernonia the next day for a repeat meal. I had overheard someone the day before singing the praises of the carrot salad and decided to give it a try. It was my favorite dish of the four that I tried (and I don't even like carrots). I highly recommend Blue House to anyone traveling through the area. We loved the Blue House. Great food, good craft brewed beer. I had a gyro platter that was a lot of good food for under $9 - homemade yogurt sauce was garlicky and yummy, salad was super crisp, hummus was homemade. The baba ganouj is superb and I should have bought some to take home. They also have a variety of pastries for dessert. I also had a moroccan mint iced tea sweetened with honey. It was diviine! Bike ride from banks to Vernonia got to stop here. We got the Gyro platter and Mediterainen platter for a quick lunch. Let me say that they were both excellent and the service was awesome.. This place has moved into town (rather than off the hiway toward Mist, as before) and expanded. I LOVE their new digs! I've rated this place a few times before (under Blue Cafe) and didn't rate them as well because of various issues I had with their food. Since they've moved into town (a short stroll from my home!!) I've eaten here twice. (They've only been here about a month). Turns out, I think the negatives I felt before may have been because they didn't get as much business since they were way down the highway. The meat seemed a lil dry and reheated. Now that they're in town w/ a steady flow of business, the meat has been fresh and juicy and delicious! I think the move has eased some stress or something on Sam too because he's more friendly and easy going than before. I think coming into town not only is going to make The Blue House Cafe BOOOOOOM, but it did a great favor to the townspeople. read more

Best reward ever! To start from Banks and ride all the way to Vernonia and stop at this place for beers and enjoy great food. The staffs here were friendly and such a cute place. Love the fact that this place catered to cyclists since it makes so much sense when majority of the people coming in to town were bikers and offering an indoor parking for bikes was a plus and being able to refill your water bottle for the ride back. read more

Visited Blue House on a cold, rainy fall day midway through our ride on the Banks-Vernonia Linear State Park trail. Microbrews were totally awesome. My husband's hamburger was delicious. The Blue House is quite a find: a cute, unique restaurant in small town Vernonia. The food is good. We had the babaganoush and veggie pita. Honestly, I've had better in Portland, but in Vernonia one can't be choosy. The atmosphere is great. Everything is blue and yellow, warm and inviting. The Mediterranean mint iced tea is incredible! My first visit to Vernonia and i yelped this place because it had such great reviews. I'm glad i did because this place was amazing. As you walk in it is very clean and the staff was very helpful in making some tasty recommendations. I had the classic cheese burger and it was very good! The meat was very flavorful and it had a very Mediterranean taste and look. The season was on point and it was cool perfectly. The bread they used for the bun was not your traditional hamburger bun the owner told me it was a special bread they use that is freshly baked called barbari. It was a nice twist on the hamburger and it was great. This was the perfect restaurant in this small town. I know for a fact when i do come back i will definitely stop by again and try their gyro sandwich. They also serve local crafted ale and i tried the apricot flavored on it was so smooth and flavorful. Will come back again for sure!!! read more
