I first went to their sibling location CUP years ago and loved it! Came to a closer location from UCI before work. We have returned twice! Drinks: Hear me out, stick to their signature curated house lattes which is where they uniquely shine - Blue Hummingbird latte and Spanish Dark latte. The iced Hummingbird latte had blue spirulina and a mellow pandan flavor (kinda marshmallow taste). That's my repeated order until last time I tried the Spanish Dark latte with an added espresso shot. That Spanish latte took the crown, which carried me through whole day plus the cinnamon / vanilla duo was the correct touch of sweetness. I always get almond milk as alternative. These lattes are distinct from other locations focus on their espresso drinks. Food: I order their breakfast burritos which they give you an option of sunny side or scramble eggs. I prefer the classic breakfast burrito (no pork). It can compete with Coffee Dose and Herb & Ranch. Also, I gave soyrizo breakfast burrito a chance but a little too spicy in the morning for my tummy. Classic breakfast burrito to go with a Spanish Dark latte is my new favorite match. Service: I wanted to test the service for my own assessment after reading reviews. Honestly everyone was easygoing and about their work. Drinks and food came out fast which employees even gave utensils with greetings. Also they validated our parking no problem too. A very cute coffee shop located in a big building in Irvine! I was here for a conference, and found this coffee shop within walking distance from the Hyatt in Irvine. Upon walking up to the doors of the building, there is a kind man opening the door for us. His job is to open the doors and ensure the right patrons go in and out of the building. After walking towards the opposite end will be the entrance of the coffee shop. The cashier is immediately on the left and there are large amounts of sofas to sit on or you can walk towards the back to sit outside in the patio. The coffee shop is facing a large street with a tree and large area of grass. It's very nice and pleasant to sit and people watch. I had ordered a breakfast burrito with their bacon and their signature latte with almond milk. Their burrito was very fresh and hot! There are tater tots inside with delicious cheese. I wasn't a fan of their bacon because it was sweet maple bacon; it clashed with the savory taste of the burrito. Their latte was great! Not super sweet and definitely kept me caffeinated. Saw this place on Yelp as we were looking for a nearby coffee spot to get some work done. Upon arriving, we had noticed that this place felt familiar, but unsure how. When we walked in, we realized that we had come here a while ago for an OC Restaurant Week lunch but it was called something else before. Here is what we ordered: Banana Pie Latte: This drink was okay. A lot of other banana coffees we have tried have been dressed up with toffee crumbs or banana chips, etc. This one did not have anything on top. It was just banana syrup is what it tasted like and not much else. Honey Bee Matcha Latte: This drink was decent as well. The foam was nothing special and it was just a sweet matcha. I opted for oat milk which was free to switch out of whole milk. I can appreciate spots that do this since I always go for oat milk with my matcha! Cream top just felt like heavy cream was poured on top, did not feel like an actual thick whipped cream top. Overall, I would say there are a few highlights about this place including the open tables and some charging ports available throughout the cafe. There was a ton of space and they do have wifi as well as validate your parking for the entire day, so you don't feel rushed to get your drink or work. Other than that, the service is what really brought down the experience for me. The barista that took our order was not happy to answer any questions. She was very short and had an attitude. It was our first time trying out this place, so I wanted to know which drinks were the most popular or the sweetest and she just wasn't having it. I also asked if they validated parking and she just said yup and asked for our ticket. I had to follow up with the question of how long they validate for, and again was giving attitude. When they called for me when the drinks were ready, I noticed that both my drinks were green. I read of the label that both drinks were matcha, even though we never asked for the banana one to be matcha. This would have been avoided if we just had our order read back to us. When I let her know, she did not apologize or anything. Just took back the drink and started making it the coffee version. I realized that I paid $8.75 for this drink, since they charge extra to make it matcha. I never got a refund or even offered anything. I honestly didn't even want to deal with it at that point. I most likely won't be coming back due to the service. Wifi is also kinda slow, despite the amount of people sitting in there. Tables were also dirty. We had to wipe crumbs off our table before sitting as no one was walking around cleaning. Honestly, you are better off going to another local coffee spot in the area. read more

Nice coffee shop for those wfh days. There's plenty to seating - not all of them have an outlet nearby though but they have a conference room you can reserve if needed. The parking structure is nearby and the will validate for you. I got the hojicha latte and it was good - no sweetener so if you like it sweet, add syrup. The menu offers a delightful variety of interesting blends of coffee and teas. I opted to order the cinnamon roll latte which is essentially a Spanish latte with brown sugar. I substituted the dairy for oat milk which I often do, but I think it may have changed the flavor profile a bit. It was nice to find out I didn't have to pay extra for the oat milk sub! Came for their soft opening with the family. The space is large and beautiful with lots of nice natural lighting. The drinks are delicious as I've come to expect from Blue Hummingbird from their other locations. We had the Mistletoe Matcha Latte and the Cinnamon Roll Latte. I love me a matcha latte and the earl grey cold foam on top was a nice touch. We also got the breakfast sandwich, the wild mushroom toast and the tater tots. The wild mushroom toast was the best mushroom toast I've had! It had hen of the woods, some other mushrooms, some spicy kick to it, some cashew spread I believe... The toast was good quality bread and just the right level of toasted to hold structure without being hard to eat and chew. My wife and daughter "helped me" eat it because it was so good . The breakfast sandwich was substantial! Croissant, two eggs, large portion of sausage, arugula... definitely a great protein kick to start your day and very tasty. This location has a full kitchen so you can get full lunch items than just breakfast burritos & pastries at the other locations. You can get a full lunch menu with cheeseburgers, sandwiches, chicken or shrimp bowls, and mushroom topped toast. When I went to Blue Hummingbird on their opening day festivities the staff greeted me with a Plinko game that either got a $5 voucher or candy. Of course, my chip landed on candy, which was still good. The cafe staff were great & friendly! Blue Hummingbird has drip coffee for $3.45 before noon, which I just missed at 12:15 pm. I got their cold brew 16 oz coffee for $5.25. It was smooth & delicious! They have plenty of coffee, tea, and more drinks as well. I got a breakfast burrito with mushrooms, and it was delicious! They had all the usual breakfast meats, but shiitake mushrooms as a unique protein, so l had to try it! Since it is located at an office complex, parking is complicated for visitors, and not clarified on where to park on their website. There are five office buildings that are connected to their own garages, and only two of them are allowed by visitors to park with the rest for the office building tenants. The garage connected to the adjacent building does allow visitor parking and taking a ticket at the gate. Parking rate is $2 per 15 minutes, thankfully, Blue Hummingbird validates parking. On the way out of the garage to exit, scan the original ticket & then the validation code. I accidentally ended up at a garage at the other side of the complex since I was so turned around driving through the office complex. At least it was a nice walk to the cafe. I loved my experience at Blue Hummingbird Coffee Roasters with a delicious breakfast burrito with my smooth cold brew coffee! However, I just wished they had directions on where to park on their website, which they don't have at this time. I wish Blue Hummingbird Coffee Roasters well with their new location and many new locations to come! Maybe come to the Anaheim resort area next? The many conference attendees, Disneyland guests, and my hotel coworkers love local coffee roasters! (Nudge, nudge). read more

We ordered the drip, a vanilla latte, and two breakfast burritos. Bangin'. I walked in expecting the usual building-lobby coffee situation--something to keep you awake, nothing to remember. Then I saw someone upstairs getting McDonald's delivered and honestly felt a little sorry for them, because the coffee here is on a completely different planet. The drip is already great, but the espresso drinks have that "someone actually cared about this" quality. They grow their own beans, and you can taste it. The baristas pay attention without hovering, and the space makes you want to sit down for five minutes and somehow stay long enough to clear a chunk of your email. They were out of validation stickers when I stopped by, but the manager handled it quickly and without making it a whole event--just the kind of smooth fix you remember later. We tried two breakfast burritos: one with millionaire bacon, one with chicken sausage. The bacon won. Fresh eggs, onions, potatoes--the kind of straightforward combination that works because it's actually done well. They come in a box instead of wrapped, mostly because the eggs are sunny side up, which gives the whole thing this nice texture. Scrambled is an option if that's your thing. All in all, definitely worth a repeat visit. And if you see McDonald's coffee being delivered upstairs... try not to judge. Not everyone gets to know better. read more

I visited more than 20+ coffee shops around OC, and this place had the worst customer service and coffee. 1. Placed a large order via online that included 6 cold brews the day before. The cold brew was marked as available and the transaction went through. But when arrived the next morning to pick up, the manager claims they ran out of cold brew at 8 AM on a Friday, citing shortage of manpower and high demand. And imagine my surprise when none of the drinks were prepared. 2. The six cold brews had to be replaced with Americano as a poor substitute, and everyone who tried it did not finish their drink because it tasted watered down. Also, the sugar was not properly mixed with the coffee, so it was settled at the bottom - even worsening the watered down taste. A few sprinkles of fruity pebbles for 25 cents was also an insult. 3. I ended up paying the full retail price of the coffee, and the manager did not offer any discounts/upgrades for messing up most of the order AND taking additional 25 minutes to prepare the drinks. I arrived significantly late at work because of this. 4. The manager did not mention anything about the parking validation until I asked about it. I was about pay like 6 dollars for 30 minutes of parking. In normal circumstances, I only care if the coffee is good or not. But not only the coffee was far below average, but the way they handled the mistake was equally disappointing. 0/5 read more

I have been coming here for a few months now and it is easily my favorite cafe. The ambience is great, and the drinks and food high quality, but the most stand out feature is definitely the staff. They are by far and away the most courteous and attentive of any baristas I have met in Orange County. Special shout-outs to Zoey and Alise especially. When you walk into this location you are greeted by very friendly and knowledgeable baristas. I ordered a cinnamon roll iced latte, their cranberry holiday fizz, and the mushroom toast. I normally don't order sweet drinks but I enjoy a cinnamon roll every so often. I got an extra shot of espresso and it was amazing. The holiday fizz was the perfect amount of tart and sweetness and it really is a light drink to enjoy wit your food. Now for the mushroom toast! A slightly toasted piece of sourdough, not too toasted so it cuts up your mouth and not under toasted so the toppings make it soggy. It truly is toasted just right with a nice layer of cashew cream, the mushroom melody is delicious, but what really brings it all together is the very mild spicy chili crunch! If you are looking for a light but delicious lunch I recommend the mushroom toast and cranberry fizz. And there is no shortage of seating. When you walk in it looks like there might just be a small seating area. But once you get in, there are so many places to sit. You have booths, tables and chairs, a large community table and outdoor seating. Lastly, of course they don't only offer you water, but you have a choice of regular water and two different flavored waters.
