Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess and seated. The restaurant has a nice steakhouse feel. We ordered the ribeye, she crab soup, crab cake, the pecan salad. The ribeye was delicious and cooked to perfection. The she crab soup was very bland and soupy. The crab cake was mediocre, it really didn't have the crabby taste and the salad was just okay.

In town for business and our client suggested to meet at this restaurant for dinner. First thing inside was very clean and nice. Didn't get to get a drink at the bar but looked very comfortable to sit at the bar if you didn't want to wait for a table. Our server was the best and gave us a couple of recommendations to choose from. I forgot his name...I need to remember these names so I can call them out here! Anyway....I started out with a glass of Moscato which was had the perfect sweetness and not overly sweet. Very crisp and refreshing. Then I had the She Crab soup, which was very rich....and had a lot of crab in it. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!! We did share the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer and the shrimp was cooked and seasoned perfectly and not overly spicy but just enough to give it a kick with the peppers! And I had the Seared Scallops with Pasta. It had a little too much cheese for my liking however the scallops were not overcooked and was very good! The pasta was fettucine and it tasted like it was homemade! But the dish was very good. Would definitely come here again when I'm back in town.

I was really impressed with the Blue Marlin, and I had a great dining experience here! The first thing I noticed about the Blue Marlin was how elegant and sophisticated the inside of the restaurant was. I felt like I was transferred back in time to a different era, and I loved the upscale environment that the restaurant presented.  Having said that, I sat at the bar, and arguably didn't even get the full Blue Marlin experience. Nevertheless, and in spite of how classy the restaurant was, I still had an awesome time at the bar. I got the chicken tenders and fries, as well as one of the local IPAs that they had on tap. The bartender (I wish I had gotten his name) was a really cool guy, and I was very appreciative of both the service he provided me with as well as the fact that he took the time to chat with me like a regular person. He displayed the perfect combination of professionalism, without coming off as robotic. My aforementioned tenders and fries were pretty good as well, and I liked how they carried some local beers to compliment the brand name items.  All-in-all, I really enjoyed my visit to Blue Marlin, I'll definitely be back in the future, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in at least once!

The complimentary bread with butter was delicious, but the shrimp and grits were bomb. The crab cakes with rice and collard greens were delicious too. The inside had a historic and cozy feeling to it. Overall, I would return to this place whenever I'm in Columbia again.

The Salmon Salad was amazing! I love when the salad dressing and lettuce are a perfect ratio. The service was very attentive and accommodating to our requests. Great for a nice dinner with friends and family.

Service was great, but the food was a major disappointment. The shrimp and grits had poor presentation and looked unappetizing. The quality of the ingredients was subpar - shrimp were very small that lacked freshness and flavor. Overall, the dish fell well below expectations. Raise the prices to get better quality products and become more competitive. Gain back your recognition of Award Winning Shrimp and Grits.

Another great meal at Blue Marlin. Pinak and Rilee were great for our meal at the bar! We ate at the bar as normal so I could watch the tube and have easy access to cocktails. With the Masters Tournament in town, met folks for the UK and had great conversations! The Latern Parade with New Orleans styled music graced patio diners. It was great!!!

She Crab Soup, collards, palmetto pecan salad and the best bread ever!

Blue Marlin was so on point today! I would give 7 stars. I had the she-crab soup, which was tasty, the palmetto pecan salad was delicious and the sweet tea was perfect. The collards were PERFECT, the last two times I ate there, they were so salty I couldn't eat them. My server, Sydney was super sweet and really nice. I've never had a bad server to be honest and the ambiance was great. I had a couple of servers check on me even though I was not in their section and the cooks were having fun in the kitchen but not to the point where they were a disturbance. I have been eating at Blue Marlin for over 30 years and they have been consistent. See you all for lunch next week.

Since we were in the Columbia area, we had to come back! The service here is top-notch, and ALL high end restaurants should take note. Servers and managers are always standing around in the hallway practically waiting to help you, are there to start conversation and make you enjoy your experience. Our waitress constantly came around to check on us. Great work! In Charleston, we got the prime rib and loved it. So, as a result, we got the prime rib again AND loved it again! It was just like how we remembered it; tender and great flavor. Their sides come in large portions (shareable). They do have great mac-and-cheese. It kind of gives us like a Spanish vibe, probably because it consists of a certain spice or Jalapeños (my guess), but that does not make it spicy! All it does is adds complexity to the flavor. For dessert, we shared the cookie skillet. It comes with ice cream on top with chocolate syrup and caramel on the side. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.. that's how we like it!! I highly recommend you give Halls Chophouse a try. You will not be disappointed!

The problem with the coffee was the cream. It should probably be served around room temperature. Because the creamer was so cold several of our party had to ask for frequent warm-ups. Our server, Kristen, was very personable, pleasant and accommodating. A couple of us ordered Bellini's and mimosas. My Bellini was just OK. My standards are high, since I've had them in Venice, Italy. The Hall's Bellini was not very tasty and on the watery side. My wife tried to order the sweet potato pancakes, but they were out. So she was disappointed, and ended up with the lavender scented brioche French toast. She thought it was OK but was seeking a stronger flavor. I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. I don't order this very often, but there was a good portion of sausage and the flavor of the sausage was enjoyable without being too salty. Our daughter ordered crab cake Eggs Benedict which features a creole sauce. She enjoyed it, but the temperature of the dish could have been hotter. Our niece's daughter had the farmers omelette with the apple sage sausage. The apple-sage sausages were excellent (I got to sample one) and a very good deal. The ambience of Halls is always great. The service is usually quite good and the food is usually excellent. This is our second brunch at Halls and I'll have to say that our first brunch experience was a little bit better for the reasons noted above. I still rate it the best brunch in town.

It delivered on smokiness to the point of entertaining me too! My glass of rose was great, a normal choice for me. The gumbo had excellent flavor and the small whole bird on top was such an interesting presentation. The crispy skin had great flavor as did the chicken itself, complemented the creole flavor of the gumbo perfectly. I hate to admit that the tomato broth, dare I say gravy, kind of stole the flavor show. We both loved it. I nearly forgot I had grilled bread to accompany it as I was spooning up mussels and the delightfully flavorful tomato broth. Service was totally on point until the very end, when getting our check was a bit slow. We had a new server respond to our rescue though, and they did discount our check a bit, which was more than we were expecting. The seating arrangement for us ended up being at a communal long dining table, not a private booth. It wasn't our first date, and we loved being in the middle of the room and watching all of the dishes and drinks flow by. The view of the booth tables by the window would also make for a great view when the street is busy with ample people watching. Great experience, would definitely recommend. Take note, they do not take reservations so either come early or allow time to wait.

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

The place is very well air conditioned, and the space is very intentional. Visiting from out of state the waitress seemed a bit shy/new but curious about Wisconsin she warmed up a little bit. It's really cool that you can see the chefs in their element behind a glass wall while you wait. The silverware, or should I say Goldwear was beautiful. I started out with the All American Spritz- it was good but nothing extraordinary. However when I tried the pistachio martini, I was in disbelief! I was skeptical to order it as I've never even heard of one before and was unsure how pistachio would translate into a martini. It was creamy and somehow savory and sweet at the same time, the alcohol taste was nonexistent. And the rim was coated in pistachio crumbs. Both the drinks presentation was beautiful. I personally ordered the bbq chicken sandwhich, with mac and cheese instead of fries for the side. The sandwich was smoky, I could not stop eating it! If anyone was wondering what so special about the mac and cheese, it's the name of the noodles. And yes, the waitress will sound it out with you lol! The Mac and cheese wasn't creamy, and I found it a bit bland unfortunately. There was no order the same in the group I came with. The truffle fries were on the thinner crispier side, neat that there were different color of potatoes used. The duck wings came out like their very own presentation. I tried the alligator bites, that were served with 2 sauces, I thought there were kind of chewy , and weird enough I guess I have a preference with how my alligator is served since having tried some at the Wisco State fair. I love that the menu feels curated, you know what you're there for and it's not overwhelming to pick from the options of something new. The bathroom was very cute too! And the bar area was lit up, a cool atmosphere.

That created a slightly rushed feeling right from the start of the experience. When the food arrived, it was not served hot. The fries were seasoned but came out cold, so we had to send them back. The service also felt a bit disengaged, as though the server was ready to wrap things up, even though there was still about 30 to 45 minutes before closing time. That said, once the food was remade and served hot, it was really good. My salad, however, was not the same experience, as the lettuce had brown spots throughout, which took away from the overall quality. You can tell the kitchen has potential when the food is prepared properly, but consistency is the issue. The ambience is very cool and visually appealing. It is a bit dark for my personal preference in the evening, but I can imagine it being bright and beautiful during the daytime. The cocktail I ordered was just okay and didn't really stand out. Overall, there is definitely potential here, but improvements in consistency, service attentiveness, and food quality control would really elevate the experience.

I forgot his name but he served us on the patio. The weather was actually perfect yesterday, sunny not too hot, fans were going so you could feel the breeze. We got the seafood trio as an appetizer and everything was well done. The shrimp cocktail was nicely seasoned. I really liked that instead of just having plain shrimp. The fried oysters were nice but I wish I had known about the pineapple on top because I would have requested it not on there, it made the breading a little soggy. But nonetheless the flavor was still good and oysters were fresh. My bf loved the cucumber kimchi. We also enjoyed the crab cake. I would have preferred a little bit crisper outside but the flavor was really good. For dinner I got the fish du jour which was a grilled triple tail (I believe he said). It was cooked perfectly but did not have a lot of flavor. I assumed they didn't want to over power the fish because I had it with crispy brussel sprouts which were salty and a spinach and corn risotto which was amazing. Everything paired well together. My bf got the lamb rack and it was the perfect medium rare. For dessert if you have creme brulee on your menu I'm getting it ! It's my favorite dessert. The custard was a little undercooked because it was a bit runny but the flavor was amazing. You could see the little pieces of vanilla bean. And the sugar on top was thick so it was a lot sweeter than most creme brûlées I've had. I'd give it an 8/10. My bf got the strawberry hand pie (I think it was) and he doesn't like sweets too much but he said it was good and the ice cream wasn't too sweet. The pastry looked delicious. They gave us complimentary champagne for my birthday and it was so good. It tasted like my favorite Chandon spritz. So it really was a perfect way to end the night. Overall it was a 9/10 experience and I'd love to come.
