Let me start my saying the food was excellent. Unfortunately, one of the waitresses and both owners were short tempered and rude to my wife. Flying off the handle at her (my wife) instead of having a respectful, open dialogue. One of the owners did nothing but scowl at me while we were there, with no reason. Even when I extended pleasantries. We might have received a refund on our meal... But we won't be back. Great breakfast and lunch options. Their soups and sandwich of the day are usually amazing. You can expect to drop around $11 - $13 for a sandwich, cup of soup, and a drink. Not exactly a bargain, but you pay for quality ingredients and a prime location in Brookside. They have good dinners too, but the place doesn't get packed for dinner. I've been wanting to try this iconic Brookside restaurant foreverrr, but since it's only open for breakfast and lunch, that made it a bit harder. Finally made it out while they were open for lunch/brunch. I got Samwell's chicken sandwich (Char-grilled, onion bun, guacamole, bacon, Provolone, lettuce, tomato, mayo) with a side of sweet potato fries. BREAKFAST REVIEW ONLY Blue Moon is a solid option for a casual weekend breakfast. While the food is not amazing, it is always consistently good and I enjoy the Mexican flair of some dishes. If you like spicy, you must try the Chile Pork Verde. I also really enjoy the breakfast tacos, breakfast quesadillas and the yogurt parfait. They always have a few good specials on the board as well. We stop here at least a few times a month for some post-run nourishment with friends. They serve Lavazz coffee which I always enjoy, and the carafes of mimosas are done the right way, i. e. with plenty of sparkling vs OJ. This is one of my go-to brunch spots in Tulsa. I really enjoy the setup - order at the counter and seat yourself. Their patio is really nice, and it is even dog-friendly. Their salt-and-pepper shaker collection adds an especially fun atmosphere. Their drink selection is rather extensive, though I have never ordered a drink there. The food is always cooked very nicely. Their most outstanding menu options are the Hispanic-inspired dishes: Huevos Rancheros, Migas, Chili Verde con Huevos. They always have some tasty and inventive dishes on their specials menu, like Stuffed Poblanos or Chicken Tamales. One of my other favorites is the Breakfast Wrap; the cooked red cabbage adds a very fun and different texture. My family are all crazy about the Morning Buns, which are not really my thing. But everyone else seems to love them. The service has always been friendly, and they do a good job of attending to everyone. Just a really solid choice for weekend brunch. I've never been there for lunch; they are open for dinner as well... but it has never really struck me as a "dinner" type of place. read more

Blue Moon Cafe has most of the elements of being pretty cool, and it brought me to a cool street with Lululemon and . . . well, I was just focused on Lululemon. The atmosphere was diner, but rustic, somewhat hipster diner with a creative menu. I wish that they would have had fresh-squeezed orange juice being a breakfast/brunch place, and I just thought the food was okay. It wasn't bad by any means, but just not to die for. I'm not sure I will be back, but I thought the people were really cool, the crowd eclectic, and the food pretty good quality. I hope it stays around. A lot of people seem to like it. read more

Tried this place the other day with my girlfriend. It was a great experience. The coffee was good, and came in large mugs. Awesome. There was a display case of baked goods, including a really delicious looking tomato quiche. Unfortunately I didn't get to try it on my visit as we stopped in for breakfast. Somewhat of a wait, the place was busy, and although there were empty spots, the food took a bit of time coming out, although nothing too long. I ordered the Migas, and my date got the 2 eggs and sausage with a half order of french toast. The Migas were ok. I liked the potatoes better. My date's food was great though. The sausage was REAL, and it was a bit on the spicy side (which I liked but my date didn't) so beware. Still it was very good. The french toast is what really caught my attention. It looked like they used real french bread here. It was awesome and was a lot more substantial than a flimsy looking piece of wheat bread. This is a great breakfast place, and I'm sure going to be heading back soon. read more

From my most recent bakery crawl: The brownie looked great, but was too cake like. It reminded me very much of a Texas sheet cake. Not a bad cake, but not a brownie. The sugar cookie was dry and had an odd aftertaste-- butter flavoring maybe? The peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies were overbaked to the point of being burned. I'm not sure if they were so dry because they were so overbaked, or in the case of the peanut butter cookie if it was intentional. The oatmeal cookie was pretty good. Crispy edges, chewy center. Good flavor. Don't bother with the biscotti. It wasn't crisp or crunchy the way biscotti should be. The flavor wasn't all that great either. If you're going to Blue Moon bakery, have their regular menu items: sandwiches, quiche, etc. read more

Instead of waiting 45 minutes in line to get into Bramble, we opted to go to Blue Moon which is always consistent in good quality food and service. Blue Moon has homemade breads for sale, they have a great normal everyday menu, and they have specials. I always get the Cecil. It's yummy. However, they also make a mean everything!!! I have never had something bad. Portions are good sized, you most likely can take some home. Staff is always helpful. They always let me get a cup of coffee even though I'm not ready to order or I'm waiting on others, then let me pay for it later. "Foodie Incognito" my butt... I guess, in the back-of-mind, I thought that someone would run a visual scan of my mug shot (sunglasses and beard), and track me down. I mean, come on, it is because I am soooo important... (Stated with tongue firmly planted in cheek). So it was with great surprise when I was recognized, not once, but twice in the last couple of weeks! Of course, with my "never-say-anything-bad" style of writing, (*wink* *wink*) I was quite flummoxed; not knowing if I was going to be congratulated or punched in the nose. Luckily, they were both positive experiences, but still frightening enough to the boss that I was politely asked (actually told) to change my photo. That means forget the sunglasses/beard biker photo and insert the little blue dog. Unfortunately, I am only half werewolf, thus the cute little dog, not the menacing werewolf reviewer that I wish I was... Okay? What the hell does that have to do with anything?!? This... Restaurant owners are hip to our little community and, as Martha would say, "That is a good thing". Yep, you guessed it, Alan, the owner of the Blue Moon, recognized me. Luckily, I had written a positive review, but I was still surprised. I was even more surprised when he stated that he was considering my suggestion of returning to baking the cream cheese morning rolls in the old manner that I like. And to my surprise (again), the next time I was there, Alan pointed out the revamped cream cheese morning rolls. He even said that these were specifically made with me in mind. Wow! Of course, I bought one and here is the verdict... *drum roll* Yum! Instead of making it exactly like the original, he took the best parts of the new and the old and combined them into a really good roll. It has, for example, the crunchy sugar crumbs on top (old) and the croissant like dough (new) with a good amount of gooey sweet cream cheese within. I like this new version a lot and appreciate Alan's willingness to listen and make his product even better. Thanks for making my choice for breakfast even harder! Also, I would be remiss if I did not mention the muffins. I have previously written that I found the muffins ho-hum. Although I have not tried all of the them again recently, I have had the lemon ricotta and the pecan cream cheese. These are definitely worth trying. The lemon ricotta has more flavor and the pecan was so moist... Once again, it has been a pleasure seeing an already great bakery work to make itself even better. Thanks again! The moral of this story; take your reviews seriously. Not only are other yelpers reading and basing their decisions on what you say, but owners are as well. And, if you are lucky, they may even take your criticism and make a tweak or two that makes their product that much better. read more

I went on an adventure last night. Being new to Tulsa I went to brrokside, chose one of the many places there to eat. I chose the Blue Moon. As I entered the cafe I had HIGH hope. They would soon be dashed. As we were sat at a table we were handed a small menu. I looked it over and chose our mean. But wait, and wait, and wait. 15 minutes and Im ready to leave no order taken when the oh so bored waitress came and took our order. We ordered the faefal bites, okie capri salad, and the chicken sandwich. Then 3 minutes later she comes back over and asks if we wanted the appitizers with the meal. One, you ask that when you take the order if you ask it. Most don't ask because unless specific that is how MOST people want it. appitixers first. While waiting for the food, I looked over the place. Some really tacky artwork (paintings) of trucks? Dump trucks big rigs on canvas? really tacky. The patio area dirty, I mean dirty. ugg, the table next to us a napkin tucked under it to level it out. So the place was a mess. The music latin, yet little to no mician food on the menu...Someone needs to help these people out. Now for the food. The appitizer was good, moist inside crunhy outside. Perhaps the best part of this meal. My friends chicken sandwich nothing exception, but the fries crispy but no seasoning and no flavor. Now my salad. First bite into the greens i bite into gritty dirty greens. Ugg..pathoey...Then onto what I was waiting for the green fried tomatoes on this okie salad...WHAT! NO FLAVOR!..Dissapointment. Yum, Yum, Yum! This is my absolute favorite brunch spot on Brookside. Lots of different things to choose from as far as food goes and cocktails to boot! Patio is usually packed on sunny day weekends and its pet friendly (with leashes of course) I get the whole wheat pancake and a mimosa! This is my kind of place! Thank you, Yelp, for never failing me. I simply typed breakfast and this lovely place came up. It was the perfect start to my day trip to Tulsa with my boyfriend. I had the breakfast tacos. They weren't bad but once I saw the English muffin sandwiches on another table, I knew I would have to get that for next time. I'm all about fresh baked goods and those English muffins simply looked heavenly. I loved the vibe here. I can definitely see myself being a regular if I lived in Tulsa. Maybe even duchess ;) haha. I really like Blue Moon for just about all the same reasons as the other reviewers. There are a whole lot of really delicious options, though some things have been just mediocre (nothing is terrible!) and I'm not that blown away by their breakfast pastries. We almost always go for breakfast -- we almost never think to go for lunch, but the couple times we've tried lunch, it has been wonderful. Haven't been for dinner. My current favorite is adding bacon & avocado to the breakfast burrito -- it's a great blend of flavors, and the salsa is YUMMY! I can never remember if it's the huevos rancheros or the migas that I also really love (I'm not such a fan of the other one, even though the dishes are very similar). Overall, a solidly good experience worth trying (and coming back to!). read more

My friend and I went here for brunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. Because it was pretty crowded, there weren't any tables inside. We went outside and found a table and thought it wouldn't be too bad. They brought our our drinks pretty quickly but it took forever for our food to be ready. I actually think they forgot b./c we saw other tables who sat down after us get our food so we had to remind a waitress who walked by and then she brought the food out. Also, b/c of all that waiting, we were really hot! They have a few fans out there, but we were sweating and getting uncomfortable. It would definitely been better if we could have sat inside. I ordered a mimosa, bloody mary and breakfast tacos. The drinks were good but the tacos were just ok. You have to put them together yourself and I thought the eggs could have used more flavor to them. read more

I love Blue Moon. It's got a nice, quiet atmosphere (especially between the breakfast and lunch rushes). The patio is dog-friendly and it's an order-pay-eat setup. I've been here more than a few times, so I know the quality of their menu items is better than the everyday restaurant. That said, I went there this morning and got food poisoning from the danish I ate with my coffee. If you go, stick to the menu. Love this place. The service is great. Everyone is kind and attentive, they want to make sure you have everything you need and want, prepared the exact way you want it. I generally get the burger and fries here. The fries are beer battered, which this is the only place in Tulsa I have seen that offers beer battered fries and they are delicious.
