With it being a holiday weekend, and a Saturday night, a little droop in customer service wouldn't be unexpected, but not here everyone was attentive and courteous! Ordering online was super easy, and all the options are built-in. My order was to be ready in 25 mins, and when I arrived 28 mins later it was hot and ready for me. The women who helped me was sweet and professional. She checked each item with me, and made sure I had parmesan and pepper packets. I ordered an Italian w/ gluten free crust, a classic with cauliflower crust, and a gluten free bruschetta. All were tasty and delicious, and tasted as good or better than regular crust, seriously. We come to Atlanta multiple times per year with a travel baseball team and typically order a bunch of pizzas for the boys at least once per summer, usually multiple times, to have delivered. This year, I went with a couple other staff members to dine in, and it was phenomenal, just like it is delivered. I had a stromboli and it was perfect. I also had a side salad and brought back the chocolate chip cookie dessert for later. All of it was awesome, our waitress was kind. I had a cocktail, too, and it was made well. I love Blue Moon but they failed me for forever! My husband and I wanted some 'celebrate the weekend' pizza and decided that Blue moon was our destination. We entered the restaurant and quickly saw the C rating posted by the Health Department, ironically the Manager tried to keep me from reading the report but my findings were already stored in my mental database. As a former Inspector, I felt that right now (they had been inspected 9 days prior to our visit) was the best time to eat at the restaurant seeing that they'd be re-inspected in the upcoming days. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! Shortly after eating his pizza, my husband asked if I was feeling okay. The only difference between our orders was, he had pepperoni- one day later, he ate his leftovers and had the same GI response which was an upset stomach with frequent trips to the bathroom. Bottom line: The service was delayed and lackluster- as the server only had 3 tables including ours. The pepperoni pizza caused a GI disturbance. The restaurant has a failing grade (which has been on the decline for the past two years). I'm a proponent of eating local but not at the expense of my or my husbands health. Very disappointed. Each time we order it has gotten progressively worse. Flat crust that had no rise at all, par baked cheese pizzas that they throw the toppings on and ship out the door. My child said it tasted like her school pizza. Ordered through a third party so I can live with the cold pizza I had to reheat. But nothing should leave your restaurant looking like this. I have gone to Blue Moon Pizza off and on for years. Honestly, the pizza was pretty good, but wasn't my favorite. Until today. Today, I became a real fan. The grandma sauce is it. The Grandma's pizza sauce is a chunky tomato, chunky garlic sauce that I got on my regular (not Sicilian) pizza crust. Along with pepperoni. And it is delicious! I am not from in town, but I would 10/10 recommend for anyone to try this place if they are feeling pizza in the area. We had the cheese bread (OMG seriously the best), a personal pepperoni pizza, and my boyfriend had a Stromboli. We had plenty left over with zero complaints. When my coworkers and I are feeling pizza for lunch, these days we usually wind up at Mellow Mushroom on Windy Hill. However, we also really like Blue Moon. I actually prefer the pizza at Blue Moon over Mellow Mushroom. The only problem is, Blue Moon's Windy Hill location is incredibly popular and is usually very busy at lunchtime, no matter what day it is. This has led our group to sometimes travel further to the Blue Moon location at West Village in Smryna, where there isn't a wait at lunchtime. I guess that should tell you how good the pizza is. I like that Blue Moon has a pub or tavern type atmosphere to it. It's kind of like Mellow Mushroom, but a little bit more sophisticated. There are several TVs tuned to sports, which is always a good thing. Inside, there's a mixture of high top and standard tables. There's also a covered outdoor patio, but space is limited. The patio faces inside towards the Windy Hill Village Shopping Center parking lot where street noise from busy Windy Hill Rd. really isn't noticeable. Blue Moon serves food typical of a pizza joint - salads, sandwiches, and pizzas - with their own spin. For example, their salads are almost like pizzas themselves, served on baked pizza dough. Their sandwiches, which they call "Flatwiches" use pizza dough as the breading, and instead of two slices of bread, they just roll the pizza dough over. It's almost like a pizza dough wrap. Specialty pizzas come in three sizes: personal (10-inch, 6 slices), medium (16-inch, 8 slices), and large (18-inch, 8 slices). Personal pizzas are about $11-12, mediums are about $21-22, and larges are about $25-26. Personal pizzas are more than enough for one person. If you order a personal pizza for yourself, more than likely, you'll have leftovers to take home. You can get pizza by the slice ($2.50 per slice plus 69 cents per topping), but only if you create your own pizza. Specialty pizzas aren't available by the slice. Margherita Pizza - Roma tomatoes, mozzarella, basil The Meateor Pizza - pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, ham, and cayenne-candied bacon Half Moon - calzone with cheese, ricotta, pepperoni, and a side of marinara sauce Italian Flatwich - sandwich with salami, ham, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheese, and Italian dressing Turtle Cheesecake - chocolate chip cheesecake with Oreo crust, topped with chocolate, pecans, and caramel Blue Moon makes a really nice thin crust pizza. The crust is crispy and tasty and not overdone. Also, the pizzas not only taste good, but they look good too. All menu items are cooked to order, so there is a short wait for the food. The toppings are fresh. While Margherita pizzas are good, I'm not a huge fan of them. I want more toppings. Blue Moon's version of the Margherita is quite good and refreshing. The Meateor is essentially their meat lovers' pizza. The top of the pizza is just overflowing with meat and bits of ground beef easily fall off the slice as you pick it up to place in your mouth. Blue Moon really likes to use cayenne-candied bacon in some of their pizzas. It's sweet, but I don't taste any bit of cayenne in it at all. Also, I must say that reheating leftover pizza from Blue Moon arguably tastes better than when it comes fresh from the oven. The calzones are huge and filling. Blue Moon refers to their calzones as "Half Moons" for two reasons, I think: (1) it's a play on the restaurant's name and (2) the calzone itself is shaped like a half moon. The calzones are tasty, but also heavy. There's a good chance you'll have leftovers. I've only tried one of the sandwiches here and it's the Italian Flatwich. It's almost like eating a pizza since the restaurant uses pizza dough in lieu of bread. The combination works well and their Italian sandwich is a decent one. While the meats are cold cuts, the sandwich itself is heated, soft, warm, and full of flavor. The Turtle Cheesecake is pretty awesome. If you love chocolate, cheesecake, or Oreos, you can't go wrong with it. The Oreo cookie crust is my favorite part of this dessert. The caramel drizzled on top is just icing on the cake. Service is generally good. The parking lot can get busy at lunchtime, but never so busy where you won't be able to find a spot. read more

For salad, I chose the "Blue Moon" which was spring mix with tomatoes, red onions, carrots, and artichoke hearts tossed in a vinaigrette dressing - very fresh tasting. I liked the salad more than the pizza but both were great. The pizza slice was pretty large so for me, one slice was perfect. My friend wasn't interested in a salad so he got the $4.99 lunch special which is two slices of cheese pizza ($.69 per topping) & soda. The pizza here is very good - it's the thin crust variety so if you like thin, then check this place out. Oh - they've got a full bar and large screen TV. Ambience feels more like a sports bar than a pizza parlor. 3 stars because it seems a little pricier for what you get (compared to other pizza joints). read more
