Yum, yum, yum! Pickled cucumbers and house salad - super simple dishes, but done so well. Ordered a handful of sushi rolls and all were fresh and tasted great. DH had fried rice which was quite large and DS had teriyaki salmon (spicy). The spicy had good flavor - not overly spicy. Our server was attentive and very nice. They are short staffed and have a very small kitchen, so things came out randomly, but we did not mind. I only share that for others in case they would be bothered by that. I've heard great things about this place and saw the rating so I went to try it out. The atmosphere was quiet and clean. We had great service! I love sushi and have tried some high end ones and this place have the price of a higher end sushi with their specialty sushi pricing. The sushi was good but I felt the rice was a little too dry and the fish wasn't too high in quality. Maybe I came on an off day for the rice. But it is important as rice is what hold the sushi together and the texture of rice can make a big difference. After all the sauces I feel the fish isn't as high quality as I thought throughout the reviews.Overall, I enjoyed everything and probably would give it a second try down the road. read more

There are no options for children and they were unyielding on selling us a lunch portion to a child during dinner hours. Drink options are minimal. Good if you are craving sushi, but nothing special. Shrimp fried rice was delicious, it had fresh zucchini and broccoli in addition to the traditional peas, carrots, egg, and onions. The shrimp were large, fresh and had a light breading to them. My husband called and tried to make a reservation and he experienced a very unpleasant phone call, he asked if he could make a reservation and the woman was short and rude with him stating no and hung up. So we showed up today, on our anniversary to find out they are take out only. I know so many changes have had to happen due to covid but they should taken 5 second to explain. One of the best smaller sushi restaurants I've been to! I was not expecting this food to be as amazing as it was! We got the cucumber salad- It was so flavorful! The miso soup was so yummy and I also got the shrimp tempura roll. I have been to many sushi places but this was by far my favorite! Very fast Service and the waiter was so so nice! This is one of the secret gems of charlotte. If you are a fan of New Zealand cafe this is south charlottes equivalent which is saying a lot. The fish and rolls are always the freshest one of our favorites is the mango tango, lollipop, Grand Canyon. They will do rolls also wrapped in cucumber if you want. Normally I hate take out sushi but that is what we now do for every order. Be advised for dine in they do not serve alcohol also very small inside but that is what makes every roll wonderful. Know that for takeout always give them an extra 15-20minutes more than time quoted that is because they are busy and do quality. The owner is one of the sushi chefs and the staff is very kind. The lighting was dim and it was pretty quiet inside except for the sound a little bit of talking among the sushi chefs and the tv. There were a couple tables and booths, but no one was eating there as dining in was not available. However, a couple patrons were sitting as they waited for their food to be ready. Everyone was patient like there was an unspoken code there. We all knew this was a sacred place of hibachi and specialty sushi. You knew you were in the right place so you had to respect the space where the food was made. Needless to say everything we've ever ordered here has been reorder worthy! Come prepared ready to order. We dined in and as soon as we sat down we were asked if we wanted anything to drink and an appetizer. We didn't have a chance to look at the menu. The very nice lady then came back very quickly 3 other times to see if we were ready (literally in 3 minutes). For such a large menu, it would be nice not to feel so rushed when sitting down. We asked our server suggestion on her favorite sushi rolls to which she pointed out only the 2 most expensive rolls on the menu. This rubbed me the wrong way as it felt more like a money maker vs trying to provide good service to your customers. The place is very small with only 10 tables, but we saw a lot of people ordering takeout and the staff was very nice. Our rolls did not come out at the same time so my boyfriend was able to finish his before I even got mine. Definitely some improvements can be made for general restaurant etiquette and customer experience. The food was delicious! They have since raised the menu prices so beware that what is online may not be 100% accurate. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our food. The best roll was the Krusty Crab! read more
