We ate here while on vacation in the Finger Lakes. We called ahead and we're told there was plenty of outdoor seating but when we arrived there was none (10 minutes after call). So they sat us by the window after waiting 15 minutes where we saw two tables empty on the patio. Ok, well whatever. We ordered soup while deciding on dinner. This should have been our first clue. It took 15 minutes to get soup! So we were ready to order and we ordered normal fair, quesadillas, a burger, salads, nothing difficult. 50 minutes later we got our food! 50 minutes!!! In that time the waiter refilled our waters once. We were standing up to leave when the food arrived. It was that bad! The food was decent but the experience was awful! I highly recommend NOT going here. What a shame. Terribly slow service. read more

By far the best dining experience during our Finger Lake stay. We paid two visits to Blue Pointe. After check in we ventured here for a sunny outside lunch. Our afternoon choices included the "Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich" with creole remoulade and chips. Fresh and tasty this selection truly hit the spot after a four hour drive. Also ordered - Sea Scallops. While good we felt short changed with only 3 on the plate - especially when paying $19. My wife asked for bread but was told unavailable until 5 PM which we found odd. Dinner on our last night was perfect. The 8oz Grilled Filet was butter tender and cooked to perfection. The Grilled Ribeye Steak followed suit. Loaded with smoked bacon, roasted tomatoes and served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes this pricey item was worth every penny. The Grilled Swordfish was another exceptional winner. Juicy and flavorful accompanied with lemon asiago risotto we all left with smiles on our faces. Service was professionally spot on - no issues whatsoever. Lunch was outside which is extremely spacious. Inside dining - while not as spacious - has a dark comfortable ambiance - however it can get a bit loud. The front of house restaurant logistics need to be reevaluated in my opinion. There were three tables of two waiting to be seated and while the queue lines up, the restaurant customers are left to stand in a small walking space, directly in the way of hotel guests trying to check out with their luggage. Guests waiting to be seated are also directly in the path of guests exiting the restaurant as well. Not only are we standing in the way of two different flows of foot traffic but the wait time was also long. 20 minutes to be seated and have drink orders taken seemed a bit excessive for a mostly empty restaurant. read more

Food was OK, service was awful. This is our first stop after driving 5+ hours after Walkens Glenn and we were approached by A male bartender who was helping people who were sitting in the bar area. He was extremely rude to me when I asked about a beer list or a cocktail list, neither of which he provided until we asked on the third time. Nearly everything that we had wanted on the menu they said they didn't have or were out of or wasn't served till dinner time. I'm not sure what the point of being open is when nothing is available. We finally all settled on some food and it took about 45 minutes for some sandwiches and fries to come out. Everything was OK, but nothing to write home about. The drinks were the best part of this, and the place itself was quite nicely decorated. I would absolutely not come back here if I was a better up here again just in a really poor service and awkward menu. Beware if you're here at lunchtime. read more

Awesome view of the water and sun for dinner!! Get here early for "patio" seating. Wine menu had many options from across FLKS. The Bruschetta was not great as an appetizer; to much going on with goat cheese, apples, etc. Seafood Scampi was delicious. I added asparagus and caramelized onions to my order which I highly recommend. My guest got the Ribeye with risotto; came out delicious with chimichurri sauce on top. Complimentary chocolate covered cherries to top off dinner over a bed of whipped cream. If I'm back in town I'll be here again!! The view is beautiful and plenty room to walk the pier. read more

I went to Blue Pointe Grille for dinner with some friends and we had a good time. The view was nice outside. I would definitely recommend sitting outside. Inside seemed a bit dark. Our waiter was new, I think his name was Mike. He was extremely friendly and we really enjoyed our experience with him. Even though he made a few mistakes, he was joyful and wasn't afraid to admit he had made a small mistake. We really appreciated his effort. I wasn't thrilled with the food. I thought it was a bit expensive for the quality. I had the pasta primavera from the vegan menu (I do appreciate that they have this menu available even though I'm not vegan) and the peanut butter pie. The bread and main course were just okay. The pasta primavera didn't have much flavor and was a bit watery. The bread wasn't warm and wasn't anything to rave about. I might go again if I'm in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

We couldn't have been more surprised! Usually the hotel restaurants are not our first choice when vacationing, but we were meeting friends who chose the restaurant and made the reservation. The food was excellent and plentiful, the service was outstanding, and the ambiance was perfect for our visit. Hubby said the lobster rolls were the best he's had (and this says a lot because we just came from the New England area where he ordered them all the time!). They were packed with lobster (instead of just being loaded with celery and mayonnaise), and came with delicious house-made potato chips. My house salad with salmon was plentiful and done perfectly. Our friends were equally pleased with their selections. (I wish we took a picture, but didn't think of it until our plates were empty and the doggie boxes were filled!) The basket of rolls with the assortment of spreads and the surprise presented at the end of our meal (I won't ruin it for you by telling you what it is...) made it all very worth the price. read more

The wife and I were looking for something a little on the nicer side to celebrate our new home. We made reservations, and I'm glad we did. The dinning room is on the small side so folks that were walk-ins were being told up to an hour for an available table. I highly recommend reservations. My wife ordered the duck and I order their prime rib special. Both were excellent and the price didn't feel outrageous to us. The vegetables (green beans and brussel sprouts) were cooked perfectly. We both ordered two drinks with our meal and an app. I will say we were slightly disappointed with the crab dip app. The melted cheese top was a melted cheddar. The problem with melted cheddar is that once it starts to cool it turns into a sheet of cardboard. The dip itself was ok. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. Everyone was very pleasant and attentive. For a busy night we didn't wait an extraordinarily long time for our meal, though it wasn't pipping hot once it arrived so it sat at the pass for a couple of minutes. If you're in the Watkins Glen area and are looking for something on the nicer side without wanting to travel to Corning or Ithaca then I would recommend Blue Pointe Grille. You don't need to "dress up" but no one was dressed like a bum. It's somewhere between casual and upscale, probably depending on the season. read more

We came into town for a race weekend arriving later than expected and fortunately for us Blue Point was open after 9pm. It has a nice vibe, we sat in the bar at a high top. The waitress was very friend and super attentive. We got our drinks quickly and the food came out fast as well, coursed out not all at rushed. We ordered the Sea Bass, Scallops for dinner and the Caprese salad to start. All were excellent. We are very picky with our food and this place was great. I usually have an aversion to hotel restaurants. I feel like they already think they have you by staying at the hotel, so why try to be culinary geniuses. I was pleasantly surprised by the dinner I had here! There are a few key point to mention though, so it might sound weird as to why I'd rate them on the higher end. I started off with the caprese salad. It should be known, I'm uber judgmental about caprese salad's because of the tomato's. They HAVE to be ripe. I realize we're out of tomato season, but I just couldn't resist. I was assured by our very friendly server, Eric, that they were still in great condition. Not so much when I got a mediocre looking tomato spread. Not necessarily his fault though, I'm just picky about my tomaters! He was nice enough to take it back without a charge though, which I appreciated. But the tomato was totally redeemed in my delicious bloody mary! I asked for it extra spicy and it did not disappoint! I hate when my bloody mary's are watering and this was just the right balance of vodka and juice. Yumm-o! I was torn by what to order, because everything sounded good. I was either into the Filet, Lamb Chops or the Seafood Linguine. I've been in a seafood mood lately, so I went with that. While it was a hearty helping of shrimp and scallops, I would have liked a little more lobster. It was also a huge helping of linguine itself. But it was just missing the taste. After adding a bunch of pepper, dash of salt and lots of Parmesan cheese, I enjoyed it though. For dessert they offer all homemade options. While I was disappointed they didn't offer any vanilla cake options, a chocolate lover would be in heaven! They had three kinds of chocolate cakes, cheesecake and apple pie. Since I'm totally in a pumpkin mood, I ordered the pumpkin cheesecake, which was delish! While the piece was way tinier than any of my dinning companions cakes, it was totally fine after a filling dinner. I sampled a couple other people's food and it seemed as if the dishes I hadn't ordered were also decent. I really enjoyed our server Eric as well, as he was really friendly. The one thing I did notice is that service was very slow. For a leisurely Saturday dinner we clocked in around 3ish hours. Not bad at all, but if you need to get outta there fast, it may not happen. Probably the dining highlight of our recent trip to the Finger Lakes. Imagine that, the hotel bar! The first night we went there for dinner. It was raining and having just driven 5 hours I didn't really feel like dealing with driving all over town for dinner. My wife had the chicken quasadilla ($12) served with plenty of sour cream and salsa. The quasadilla was made with blue cheese and absolutely to-die-for. I had a burger with seasoned fries ($10 as I recall). While waiting for our meal, the waitress brought over a bread basket: slices of sourdough bread and a bread with olives baked in it, with regular butter and an herbed butter and a chopped olive topping. All very tasty. While my burger and fries were good, and the burger was done correctly, I couldn't get over how good my wife's quasadilla was and wished I had ordered the same. ;) When you sit in the bar area, you can order from the casual sandwiches & appetizer menu *and* from the dining room's more extensive dinner menu. The waitress tried to tempt us with dessert by saying that many of the choices are made on-premise and that the selections change daily, but we were too stuffed that night. When she brought us the bill, she also had a long, rectangular plate decorated with whipped cream and chocolate sauce and topped with two hand-dipped chocolate-covered Maraschino cherries (at no charge). They were tasty and perfect for the "little sweet" that people typically crave after a good meal. Service was friendly & attentive, though that night the bar wasn't super-busy. We were able to easily charge the meal to our room. Two nights later, we went for nightcap and dessert while watching the Phillies in the playoffs. My wife had a Bailey's and (decaf) coffee, topped with whipped cream. I simply had coffee. We shared a slice of caramel apple pie with a scoop of ice cream. That night we sat right at the bar and made small talk with the friendly bartenders. My wife's Bailey's and coffee was $6, my coffee was $3, but the dessert was a bit overpriced at $8. I mean it was good and all, but $8? Overall, I'd definitely recommend the place -- the value, food quality and service are all there, but I'd recommend somewhere else for dessert... read more

We got dinner from here and it exceeded our expectations. The salads were exceptionally good. The grilled chicken and grilled shrimp were flavorful and tender. The scallops were delicious and the pepper fettuccine was amazing. We will definitely be coming back to dine here. They have indoor and outdoor dining. read more

We dined here for brunch on Thanksgiving Day as we are visiting the area from out of town. We loved everything, from the strong dark coffee to the ricotta stuffed french toast, and sausage skillet. Reminded me of one of our favorite breakfast restaurants in Napa Valley. Our waitress, Ashley gave us flawless service with a smile. Can't wait to come back in the summer to eat outside. read more

Accommodations and location is excellent. The service however was very disorganized. The restaurant and bar appeared to be grossly understaffed. I would suggest going elsewhere for a meal or drink. We are in wine country. We set up late Friday night with a bottle of wine we purchased and sit out on the patio to enjoy the beautiful night under the stars . We asked for two glasses and they billed us $15. The changed it when we complained but still they tried to bill us for two glasses the I could have went upstairs and obtained from our room. We are staying at the Harbor Hotel and came down for dinner on our last night here. We wanted to eat on the patio but it keeps raining - otherwise I'm sure it's lovely out there. The menu is simple but tasty. Good, solid grill food. We had the crab cakes and scallops for appetizers. Both were good. The scallops were in a creamy sauce with radicchio, which paired very well with the wine that the server recommended to us - a local dry Riesling. The crab cake was tasty and also went well with the wine. I was pretty pleasantly surprised at the good flavor in the cake - a good amount of spice without being overwhelming, and the crab was flavorful on its own. For entrees, I had the braised pork shank. I would probably eat boot leather if it were braised. With that said though, it was definitely tasty. Meat was tender and not dry at all. The dish was served with a tasty tomato based sauce, potatoes and great northern beans. I would have preferred far more sauce and far less beans, but I'm being picky. It still tasted good. The server recommended a local pinot noir which paired great with the dish. The BF had a NY strip steak which was also very tasty, and cooked medium rare, as requested. The server paired his dish with a California (GASP) Cabernet. We were hesitant at first to trust the server to recommend wines, but he was honest about what the local wines do and don't go with instead of trying to push the local stuff. We took our dessert to go - a delicious raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake, and two HUGE pours of Dr. Frank's ice wine - not sure which one but it was goooooood. Overall a very good experience, and I'd recommend eating here once if you're staying for several days in Watkins Glen. read more

My husband and I were a bit hesitant to eat in our hotel restaurant after reading mixed reviews. After being rained in, we decided to give it a chance. We sat at the bar and were waited on by Evelyn. Not only was the service fantastic, but so were our martinis and food. We had the clams appetizer, ribeye and seafood scampi pasta. While the meal was somewhat pricey, it was worth it. The portions were great, but more importantly, the seafood and medium rare steak were cooked perfectly. I was also impressed by how much seafood was in the pasta. It was truly delicious. I recommend that anyone staying in the area give Blue Pointe a shot. Sit at the bar or on the patio for added atmosphere. read more

Wow is an understatement for the food and the service at this marvelous establishment. I'll start with the breakfast - our server Kim was excellent. Her pleasant disposition and her attention to detail throughout our meal was exceptional. Not overly intrusive, yet attentive to our needs and our dining experience. The outside patio was busy, yet Kim made sure we had everything we needed! She also got our order perfect, despite our special requests (milk instead of cream, dry rye toast, egg whites instead of regular eggs, hot sauce and ketchup, etc). Her friendly nature and her views on where we were looking to go (Two Goats vs Grist Iron brewery) was helpful!!! Having a local provide their unbiased view is a winner every time! The food and the coffee at this fine dining establishment was also fantastic!!! The bread was something to write home about - thick slices toasted to perfection and eggs that really tasted like eggs! Cannot day enough good things about this restaurant. Outdoor dining with a view is the marina was also idyllic! A perfect way to celebrate my husbands birthday! The Blue Pointe Grille has a nice ambience. The dining room is very comfortable and they have a nice view of Seneca Lake. My parents, wife, and I dined here on 1/26/19 for lunch around 1:00 p.m. I ate the special burger that day, which was a mushroom Swiss. It was good. I ordered it medium and it was cooked well done. The sweet potato fries were very good. My wife had the fish and chips. The French fries that came with it were delicious. The fish batter was mushy and tasted sour (not lemon sour, it tasted like it was bad). There was definitely something wrong with the fish, or the way they cooked it. All of the food took a long time to come out, so It May have been frozen. She could not eat the whole thing. My dad ordered a salad with a Salmon filet. The Salmon was not cooked all the way through, it was raw on the inside. I think probably because it was also frozen. The waitress was very nice and did not hesitate at all to take the charge for the salad off of our bill. My mom had the crab cake sandwich and didn't make any comment. We also had the bruschetta as an appetizer and it was not impressive. We came during off season, which may impact quality of seafood. If they can't keep the quality up all year, then they shouldn't be offering so many seafood options in the winter. read more

We visited here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were visiting from out of town for an event at the nearby Farm Sanctuary, and we decided to come here because they had a vegan menu. We ordered lattes to start since they had almond milk. They had NO steamed milk on top, so it was basically espresso and hot milk. Tasted fine, but not a latte. For food we ordered the special, which was a tofu scramble wrap with sweet potato hash, a sweet potato hash with toast, and a fruit cup and vegan pancakes for my 2.5 year old. I asked for the fruit cup to come out first since I knew my toddler would be ready for something to snack on. The waitress had no idea which kind of toasts were vegan, even though "toast" was listed on the vegan menu. We asked her to double check. After taking our order, she promptly disappeared for 25 minutes. Never checked on us, never brought the fruit cup, never answered our question about the toast. Two tables that arrived after us were served their food while we waited. FINALLY our food arrived, minus the fruit cup. The hash was luke warm, the scramble wraps were flavorless, and the pancakes were bland. Also served with imitation maple syrup-- such a huge bummer when there are literally maple syrup farms all over the state of NY. Also, the food was overpriced. $12 for a small wrap and small serving of hash. If it had been delicious, I wouldn't have minded paying the $12! I'm so disappointed in this place. There is a huge opportunity for them to cater to the many, many vegans/vegetarians who visit this area to come to Farm Sanctuary. And I love that they are trying by offering a vegan menu. However, the food HAS to be good or it's not worth offering. Not sure I'd give them another chance based on our experience. read more

Ate lunch there yesterday, and was very enjoyable. We were there when they opened at noon along with five other parties at different tables. We were greeted promptly by our waiter and he consistently kept our water glasses full. We received our food impressively quick, which included the day's special feature which my husband greatly enjoyed the crab cake. My daughter and I shared the lobster dip and quesadilla, and our waiter brought extra plates to assist. Both my other children greatly enjoyed their kids meals of grilled cheese and chicken fingers. All was cooked perfectly and delicious. Will be making this restaurant a repeat when we visit and since we're locals, it'll probably be somewhat frequently. :) read more
