There was only 1 worker so bowl preparation obviously took some time and though I don't blame the individual for this, I think staffing could be better. There's a small amount of indoor seating and the small plaza parking lot is very cramped, that said, I was lucky enough to grab a parking spot AND a table. Poke Bowl 5/5, perfect, chefs kiss, I devoured this entire thing, ingredients were fresh and lovely Omusubi 1/5, okay so I ordered two of these two go to eat for dinner later and wow, this was a sad miss :( extremely minimal tuna filling and excess rice that somehow solidified to get super hard on me so it felt like I was biting a brick? This spot is North Park located on the south west corner of El Cajon Blvd & Kansas st in a little small strip mall across from jack in the box. Where Subway use to be for many years. Sits next to City Dragon Chinese restaurant. Parking is limited due to laundromat in same area. Inside was clean & quite & the service was good. I've been here a few times now and they are consistently great! You pick your base, protein, and toppings, so it's quick and very efficient. We both got the salmon, yellowtail, and tuna! If you choose yellowtail or add avocado or mango, those are extra charges, fyi. My hubby isn't a fan of poke, but enjoyed his bowl for the first time! I love being able to customize my own bowls and I especially love that they have so many options that you could add for both toppings and protein choice. I am so disappointed in this location's customer service. I originally found blue pokey in national city and was so excited when I found that they had a location in North Park. I went very often in December. This location was giving out envelopes for you to come back in January to get a free item. It did not say anything about having to purchase something in order to get this free item when I went in happily in January, my free item wasn't Miso soup. As one of the employees was busy getting me my free item. Another one came forward and said no you have to purchase something first. Keep in mind. The soup was already made by the other employee. I then asked this employee where does it say you have to purchase something in order to get your free item? He could not answer that. The first time I went, I had a very solid bowl, but the second time, the quality wavered a little and they were out of a few items. Regardless, the bowls here seem to be pretty solid and I like the large variety of toppings to choose from. Don't be turned away from coming here because of parking. I don't like how when I pick up my mobile order, it's not stored in the fridge. It's happened the last 3 times I've gone. There's a fridge that is labeled as pick up orders but it doesn't seem to get utilized. Ther app is a little janky. I don't think it has ever applied the rewards when I try to use them. (Select the reward and click the "order now" button - seems simple but never works.) I've not gotten sick so I'll keep going BUT I prefer my sushi to be kept cold as long as possible. Do not order at this location, the national city location is another 10-15 min down the freeway and so worth it! My husband and I come here frequently and live 45 min away but we absolutely love blue poke. This is the third time we've tried this location and we have had it. The portions are smaller, prices are higher, online orders are kept out and not stored in fridge, employees are rude, unresponsive manager, list goes on.. I've tried emailing the manager here multiple times after the last 2 times have been a busy, we only come to this one becuase of the convenience coming from the zoo but we will sit in traffic for another 15 min and go to the other location. read more

Great poke spot in the area! Whenever I come in, the customer service is great and the quality of the food is great too! There's limited seating here, and they offer to-go options. Service can be slower since they take online orders, but it's worth the wait. All of the ingredients are really fresh, from their rice to their proteins and all of their toppings and sauces. I usually get a medium bowl that comes with three proteins. I recommend giving their crispy wonton chips a try to make a sort of poke nacho! They offer staple poke proteins like ahi tuna, salmon, shrimp etc., have cooked options (chicken and grilled salmon), and some plant based options too (plant-based tuna and tofu). They load your bowls up on add ons which is appreciated, though their krab salad is an additional cost. I've had a few of their sauces and always get the fire blue poke and sriracha mayo for a little kick. Blue Poke is for sure a spot worth trying! I'll be back again soon! read more

Came across blue poke randomly and thought I'd give it a shot since I was in the mood for some seafood! - PARKING - Really small lot, but there are a few street parking spots along the road. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Not a huge restaurant inside, maybe 4-5 tables that can seat 2-3 comfortably. The lineup is similar to other poke shops where all the ingredients are laid out for you to select. Note that a few of the ingredients are extra cost! Compared to other poke shops, the portioning of scoops seemed about the same. When it got to the sauces, however, they poured on so much I was afraid it would spill over! When I ate my food, there was too much as it pooled on the bottom. - FOOD - Small Bowl ($16.50): This is also more expensive than other poke places I've been to! I ended up getting the Spicy Krab which was another $1. The Salmon was good, nice and fresh. As I mentioned earlier, they really poured a lot of sauce over everything, so it was a bit overwhelming. Tempura Shrimp ($17.50): This is one of their new menu items! They did give a decent amount of Shrimp, and it was very crunchy. I feel like these might be the Costco ones as the worker mentioned something about needing to airfry them? They drizzle some sauces on top and it was pretty good. San Diego's Blue Poke has opened up their second location in North Park, San Diego. Their first location was in National City. I had the three scope bowl with salmon, tuna, and octopus with mixed greens and quinoa. For my sauce, I went for the citrus based ponzu. The salmon and tuna were great. The octopus was chopped up into small very small pieces which I did not like. I want to be able to taste and feel the texture of the octopus, but these very small pieces did not a allow for that. I was a fan of the citrus ponzu. It was very tasty and went well with the host of ingredients in the bowl. The quinoa was excellent and is my new to go to base for poke bowls when available. I was a little bummed they did not offer tortilla chips as a base here. The young ladies working here were very nice. I also happen to run into Blue Poke's marketing manager and she was very cool too. This location offers only inside seating. read more

And you get to customize your bowl with a variety of vegetables, grains, sauces, and more. Just watch out on that wasabi...its really spicy! The bowls are standard size, pricing depends on amount of poke... $15 for 2 poke scoops $16 for 3 poke scoops $17 for 4 poke scoops Pricing for a small bowl is expensive! So don't be mathematic moron...get the large bowl for $2 more and double the fish! Its already a low calorie meal! 3 oz of fish is only about 110 calories, so eat up! read more

A few things about this place that bothers me: -Such a small parking lot. -Construction across the street affecting parking -If you found side street parking, it's metered -Suggest they make a parking space reserved for Blue Poke such as take out. -There are 3 monitors that flashes the 6 page menu but the steps are out of order. -Beverage menu but no drinks are sold. -The 3 blue poke sauces are not available yet. -They were out of ahi tuna and spicy tuna. I got a few pieces and had to substitute for something else. -This location is sketchy. Step 1: Pick your size. Small (2 scoops) $15, Regular (3 scoops) $16, Large (4 scoops) $17, pokerrito $16. Step 2: Pick your base. Brown rice, white rice, greens, cucumber, wonton chips. Up to two options. Can mix and match. Step 3: Add ons. Step 4: Top it off with toppings Step 5: Sauce it up Step 6: Don't stop there. More toppings. I got small with ahi tuna and salmon over half brown rice and half salad. Except, they couldn't give me a full scoop of ahi tuna and ran out so they doubled up on salmon. I got all the ads ons and toppings with ponzu and blue poke signature sauce and cilantro lime on the side to dip. Overall, the bowl is packed. There's nothing special about this poke place compared to others. Yes, maybe in their signature sauces but the spicy/hot/fire poke sauces were unavailable. I prefer the protein to be marinated with the sauces on the side before putting in the bowl. 2.5 rating, rounding to 3 since they are fairly new and need to work out the kinks. read more
