What a phenomenon dinner and one of the best meal we had in the past 5 days during our trip! This venue is inviting and gives a relaxing calming vibe, the service was great. For starter we ordered the Elote and Grilled Calamari, both were very good and appetizing. Their House Focaccia with chimicurri sauce was absolutely fantastic. My Chilean Sea Bass was cooked perfectly with the skin a bit crispy and delicious. Hubby's Sakura Farms Pork Chop was juicy and flavorful. Not to mention they are not stingy on the portion, we were so full and didn't have room for dessert. I Highly recommended this place and definitely will be back on our next visit in Breck. Road trip to Breck. Breckenridge is gorgeous and there's so much to like. We were on our way to another place, spied the line, lol and decided to divert to a fast plan B. This was our first mistake of many. For the record, Yelp is usually always a slam dunk. I honesty think this was maybe a one off for the restaurant or def rethink coming here for brunch. In looking at all the reviews, the reviews for brunch were slim pickings, so maybe consider the 4 stars if you're here for lunch or dinner. 4 stars? Not so much for brunch or our experience. We came early on a Saturday. We saw an outdoor 4 top table with a patio shade. I asked if we could sit there, despite being a party of two. Hey, it never hurts to ask. Big no. It was reserved. But no worries, they offered us a high top wine barrel "4 seater" in the full sun. Alright. I rotated chairs a few times to outrun the morning sun. It worked. What upset me was seeing the 4 top "reserved" table still empty as we left the restaurant almost an hour later. No reserved sign on the table as we (again) passed the table on our way out. Maybe I'm being petty, maybe not. Strike one. Strike two came soon after when we asked specifically, before ordering, if they had stevia and/or monkfruit as sweetener options for coffee. A $5 cup of coffee. Yay for having heavy whip but I was disappointed to see the sweetener options, particularly after the coffee was brought. Yes, this is a small thing. This is also why I think small things count, lol. Back to the cute table with shade. I had direct line of sight to said table and empty table that we had asked to sit at originally. Still empty. Who knows, maybe it really is reserved. Be nice, Wendy. Calm down. So, moving on to ordering our entrees. I ordered the Green Chiliquilas and my guy ordered the Bison Short Rib Hash. Sadly, both were a massive disappointment. I'm usually a fan of most places Yelp points us too. I typically rave about food but often don't give specifics about what I loved other than saying things like "the flavors were on point", things were "seasoned well", etc. It's always a stark contract when things don't fall in place. I immediately notice what didn't go well. Today, it was being served lukewarm food, or in my partner's words, cold potatoes. My egg was runny (not over easy - maybe over easy easy), def not visually appealing. I was a little surprised to see the dish and recall its price - $17. Add avocado and paying $20 for an egg, 1/3 of an avocado, salsa and soggy, lukewarm chips. I'm fairly certain the plate hung out too long before being brought to the table. Maybe it would've arrived warmer if my theory was right. My partner also shared that his plate was cold. Ugh. The bison wasn't worth commenting. Oh man. I hate that we chose poorly. And we're paying a lot. This was strike three. Ok. Didn't really finish anything. No to the coffee. No to the brunch plate and meanwhile, I can still see the empty table. It's the little things for me. Always has been. If you take a look at my ratings, you'll see that I rarely rate lower than 3 stars. Other than the waitress being nice (but sadly uninformed), we were so disappointed. $50+ for sub par breakfast and coffee for two folks. No cocktails. Nope, never again. Breck has so many other laid back fabulous options. We won't try Blue River again. read more

Loved grabbing lunch at this joint. It was nice that they had some outdoor dining because the views and atmosphere are unreal. There was a good variety of vegetarian dishes, and if that's what you are in to, be sure to order the forbidden burger. The Caesar salad was underwhelming, but there were other menu choices that sounded much more flavorful. Oh and they have a great happy hour with BOGO apps. This is our most favorite place in Breckenridge for Happy hour (4-5 pm martinis) and definitely their amazing menu. This visit we had the pork chop (drool) and the fluffiest, most pillow like Sea Bass. If the meat entrees weren't good enough the plating of flavors is outstanding. Squash, maple bourbon mushroom risotto & pancetta-tomato chutney on the chop. Acorn squash puree, fingerling potato, broccolini, pomegranate-tomato chutney on the Sea Bass. It was really another amazing meal. Ps the home made House Focaccia with fresno chile chimicurri is also binge worthy! I was so excited for this meal, I didn't take photos this time! We also had a kids chicken dinner and a bowl of tomato basil soup the best soup I've had in months hit the spot. Enjoyed a great happy hour even though our greeting was brusque apparently because we hadn't made a reservation even though we'd talked to the hostess an hour before. The barkeep took good care of us and we were seated fairly quickly ... so why the brusqueness on the front end? Our server Kayla (not Layla) was World Class. After wandering around we made our way to Blue Rivers patio and enjoyed sume sun, great attentive service and good food. They have super happy hour menu with buy one We started off with buy one get one cocktails for happy hour. Craft cocktails not just some vodka soda type stuff, unless that's what you want of course. Along with the Buffalo cauliflower and tiger shrimp. We should've stopped there because the portions are decent but we had to have the Escargot and shared the Salmon for dinner. The Escargot was very rich in flavor. The salmon cooked perfectly. We were so in the moment with the atmosphere and just having a good time that I forgot to take pictures with the exception of the salmon Great experience and worth the stop off. read more

where to begin - let me start with service - i haven't been here in a few years so i had no memory of my previous experience except for that the food was delicious. when my friend suggested we go, we called to make a reservation on a friday night. not only were they able to get us in earlier than we were quoted, but the staff was incredibly friendly and professional (not something you often see in mountain towns - i work in vail). when they had availability, the manager, pete, came over to the bar to seat us. he offered to take our drinks to the table and was extremely polite. the bartender, daniel, was also lovely. our waitress, dani, was equally as enjoyable and made sure to check in on us to make sure everything was to our liking. she was also kind enough to recommended another dessert place nearby when we ordered the truffles for dessert (sadly they are out). on to the food - we started with the focaccia bread app - so tasty, crispy, and perfectly cooked i can't recommend it enough. for dinner, we both ordered the scottish salmon which might have been one of the best salmon meals i've ever had in my life. it was so juicy, and paired perfectly with the cheesy caprese risotto, pesto, and lemon butter sauce. i actually had chills when i took the first bite it was so amazing. we must have spent the first few minutes in complete silence because we were enjoying it so much i will definitely be back for more. ambiance was nice, a little loud at times, but that only goes to show how popular this place is and that everyone was enjoying themselves. :) totally worth it all together because of the outstanding service and food. thank you, blue river bistro!!! your restaurant wins best in breck in my humble opinion read more

Went for dinner here on 8/26 and luved it. We (party of 2) were here a bit early in case it got busy, we didn't have a reservation. The hostess was more than happy to seat us and put us at a nice table which i thought was great. They did have music 2 piece band, key boardist and bassist it went great with the atmosphere. Very nicely decorated inside but don't be intimidated by that pricing is VERY reasonable. We started with app of facacia to go with our wine. If you like bread as a pre-meal don't miss this, some of the best seasoned bread I've ever had and I've eaten plenty a meal in Italy (not a flex) and they all come with an order of break. I ordered the shrimp and sausage pasta, my wife had the Salmon and we were both extremely pleased with our choices. I'm a big eater but I couldn't finish the plate, generous portions, flavorfull and fresh, great stuff. If you're in Breckenridge for skiing or hiking don't pass this place up you'll be more than satisfied you stopped here, best meal I had while in town. read more

I've had lunch here a couple of times and dinner just once when in Breck with The Hubs. The lunches were nice, but I think this place really shines at dinner. Service was attentive, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is so nice - upscale, but without trying to be 'fancy'. While I no longer recall what we ordered, I do remember that everything was nicely plated and delicious. Me and The Hubs like to 'dine' when we go out for dinner, so we tend to order an app to share with cocktails, soup or salad, entree, wine, and maybe dessert or after dinner drink. The courses were nicely paced and we never felt rushed. I definitely plan to do dinner here again the next time we do an overnight in Breckenridge. read more

The good: Leanne provided very good service. She's the primary reason there are any stars here. The ambiance was nice. The restaurant has outdoor seating which is pretty nice for this time of year. The bad: The hostess was not very welcoming and seemed bothered by having to interact with the public, which is rather odd seeing as greeting patrons and seating them is literally the job. Perhaps she's not suited to be the first impression of the restaurant. She also insisted the only seating available for single patrons were at the bar area when clearly there was other seating available. This would've been more expected of a bar that serves food rather than a proper restaurant. The bathroom situation is less than optimal with only two single use bathrooms; so don't wait to be in a hurry if the restaurant is busy. Also not ideal for those of us who like to wash our hands before a meal. There were people standing in a line for more than 10 minutes at lunch! The rest: I was really excited and ready to like the food at this restaurant because it was highly recommended but frankly, I was disappointed. I went for lunch and ordered the brie burger. I expected it to be packed with flavor with so many amazing ingredients. It wasn't. There is no depth of flavor or interesting contrasts, nothing about it stood out aside from the fact that it didn't really taste like anything. Perhaps I went onto the wrong day and ordered the wrong thing? I'm hesitant to give it another try given everything else. read more
