I've had several experiences with this restaurant, some better than others. This night I had a takeout order of California roll, which was a special buy one get one free, a large garden vegetable soup, and a side of noodles. The California roll was average, kind of a standard roll. I wish there would've been a little more ginger since it was a double order. I ordered the soup to be medium-I tried to Thai hot a few weeks ago, and that was a little more than I could take. Well, if this was medium, I'm gonna ask for it mild next time! I like spice and heat, but goodness gracious! The side of noodles was a clump that was in the container wrapped in aluminum foil to make sure it was shaped more like a large egg. Nothing I could do could rescue those. Even in the soup they stayed in a clump. As I mentioned I've had several experiences with Blue Sake, but this one wasn't their best. I went to the Sunday Buffet and was very disappointed. The food was cold and the buffet display was sloppy. The quality of the Thai dishes lacked favor and had very little meat or vegetables. The sushi and the fried food was the worst. No desert, unless you call cold plantains and under ripe watermelon a desert. Back again to our favorite Thai restaurant. Trying new places we haven't been here in a while. Wow! They did some changes on the inside, some on the outside and to their menu. My wife, our daughters, granddaughter and myself on Sunday early afternoon. They have rearranged tables in center so that now there are several large tables for groups. We were shown to center table, brought water and a Thai Tea to share. We all wanted very spicy except granddaughter, so we ordered her fried rice to mix with some of our meals. We ordered Asian Fusion Rice and Pad Thai, along with Chicken Gyoza appetizer. Drinks and appetizer came quickly, along with small salads to share. The Chicken Gyoza was very good, a steamed dumpling, but not the best I've had. Shortly after our meals came. We had asked for "Thai Spicy", and assured server we knew what that was. Our Asian Fusion was pretty spicy, maybe a little less than usual. The Pad Thai was with great heat. It was a delicious meal as usual. We finished the meal with Thai Donuts. We first discovered Blue Sake with a coupon in the mail. What the heck, why not try it? We ordered online and service was prompt and courteous. This was our second time here for their lunch buffet....wanting to give them a second chance. Sadly we should have just accepted our first Judgement and stayed away. ALL the "hot" food was room temperature to cold. It was not a pleasant experience...when we told them the food was cold the put it "in the oven"... must have been the microwave oven because the next pan of food was dry, hard, and tasteless. One person in our party ordered teriyaki chicken and it was bland with a funky flavored sauce. She did eat the rice because she was hungry! Parking lot is a bit of a nightmare to get in and out of, especially with 580/Main St as such a busy road but only one way in and out of this lot. However the restaurant was clean with lots of open seating, decorated with an ocean/under the sea inspired look, and apparently pretty popular with delivery apps as many UberEats and DoorDashers stopped in to pick up orders while we dined in. My friend and I both got miso soup & split four rolls: a California roll, a tuna avocado roll, a salmon avocado roll, and an eel roll. The portions weren't massive, but about on par for Publix-sized and Sprouts-sized rolls for the simpler types of rolls we got. Flavors were great! Miso soup was a bit light on the tofu, but there was loads of seaweed & scallion greens. Our waitress was very nice, but didn't stop by too much; took our drink order, took our food order, then brought the bill. A different worker brought our food to us, and she never checked to see how things were/if they were right, so a slight misstep in service, but not the end of the world. read more

This review is strictly on Blue Sake's Thai food offerings NOT sushi. It has been some time since we had last visited. We were quickly greeted and seated. The interior is still nice, open and clean. For starters, we both ordered the Tom Kha Soup with chicken and an order of Papaya Salad to split. The Tom Kha was not a typical creamy coconut soup. It really lacked the texture and flavors of other Tom Kha's that we've had over the years and the chicken was quite chewy. I wouldn't recommend this soup. However, the Papaya Salad was awesome. We sprung for the extra $2 to have shrimp added on top and it was really worth it. The salad had a wonderful brightness and flavor. If you've never had Papaya salad before, you need to try their version! For entrées, we ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and Emerald Curry with duck. The Pad Thai was very tasty! It wasn't mushy at all! The only downside was the the chicken was (again) a bit too chewy. The Emerald (green) Curry with duck was disappointing. The duck itself was extremely overcooked to the point of being inedible and a very small portion. The green curry sauce was oddly thick and flavorless. I would steer clear of their duck and definitely the Emerald curry. Overall, the service was friendly and attentive. The prices seem in line with other Thai restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. Great place for sushi! We were in the area getting whiskey from Leukens so I Yelped a sushi spot close by. Our first two options were closed at lunch and on Mondays, so we opted for Blue Sake. At about 2 p.m. on a Monday it was completely empty. This was great for us, because my 11 month old son likes to walk around barefoot. I haven't convinced him that shoes are ok. Not only was the staff fine with it, they were incredibly friendly. It turns out the sushi chef has a 15 month old. The waitress kept talking to my son and giving him high fives. It's always a relief when a restaurant is ok with a baby wandering around aimlessly. The food itself was good. We got a Spider Roll, Bahama Roll, Dragon Roll, and Rainbow Roll. My favorite was the Dragon Roll. I could have eaten one of those all by myself. The Bahama Roll was also very good, I loved the baked scallop on top. Overall, there wasn't a dud in the group. It seems like they are known for their Thai food, so next time I'll have to opt for a Thai dish. I enjoyed my meal and would recommend it to anyone looking for sushi. read more

We place our order, some food comes relatively quickly. The hot sake was good and hot, the appetizers (fried gyoza,salad and miso soup) were good. My only complaints about the food are the rolls with the cream cheese had the thickest cream cheese I've ever tasted. Good, thicker than a snickers bar cream cheese in a roll is NOT cool! Blue Sake has a big menu if you have never been here or reviewed it online, so I am pretty sure I will give it another try but just not for sushi. First order of business, a Saketini that was wonderful. I loved that instead of an umbrella, they gave me a pineapple decoration. We ordered the Shanghai Rolls that were also very good and came served cut in half which was probably best so Ben didn't try to beat me to "my half" of the rolls which generally means he gets 3 and I get 1. Here is where they lost me, personally. I have a weird little thing that I need something crunchy in my sushi rolls, either cucumber or asparagus. It's just a weird thing about me, I know... So when reviewing the menu, I was surprised that more was not popping out at me, I saw 1 roll that I felt I may enjoy but it was missing the crunch. I asked our waitress if they would be able to add in either cucumber or asparagus into the roll and she went to double check and then asked if I wanted it inside the roll or just on top. I said, inside the roll. Unfortunately, when I got my roll, there was neither of the two items added as requested (I would have been happy with either one, just one of the two). I took a bite and was like, well it has shrimp tempura in it so I guess it is okay but I was still disappointed as there was an entire conversation over the add on. To make matters worse, when I got the bill, there was a price add on for it. Ahhhh, sure that would 100% be fine if I actually got it. Other menu items looked good so we may give it another go but this wouldn't be added onto my list of sushi places to revisit and not just because of lack of my add on but most of their rolls are also the "usual" rolls that are on every sushi menu, there was really no "wow I have to try this roll" listed. read more

Service was wonderful. I don't know the young man's name, but he was very good. Food, my husband and myself did not like it. I had drunken noodles with veggies. The noodles were pretty gummy and it seemed everything just had a fishy taste and smell. I've heard great reviews about this place and as we all know food is very subjective. A while back, a friend recommended Blue Sake for good sushi and I thought, yeah, we'll try that some day....today was the day!!!! Wow! It's not good sushi, it's great sushi. That's all we wanted, sushi, so I cannot comment on their other menu items but I'll bet they're pretty good, too. Our server was really sweet and took our drink orders while we pondered over the menu and checked out the decor. We noticed they had a full bar, albeit small with only 4 barstools so I assume you'd have to get there early enough to score a seat. They also had a nice sushi bar that you could sit up to but I like a table better. Anyhow, we ordered the Tampa Roll, Spider Roll, and Salmon Avocado Roll. The presentation was fantastic, as you can see from the photo I've included. They were so good and we polished off every single item on the platter except the hunk of wasabi which neither of us care to eat. Would I recommend this gem??? The tempura was fried in such a heavy batter, it was difficult to identify what you were eating...my husband and I could not identify any calamari after dissecting each piece. The onion rings were pretty good, but the batter on it was how onion rings have been prepared before. Huge pieces of carrots indicated rushing and not making them identifiable unless you cut it in half. I gave up on the tempura as it was way too heavy for me to enjoy. I turned to the sushi which was also somewhat disappointing and not up to Blue Sake standards, I thought. It wasn't rolled tightly enough so it came apart before you could get it to your mouth. It also had a 'mushy' texture which is not what we have had there before. I don't know the reason for the poor quality of what we had but maybe they were rushed although I allowed 45 minutes for preparation time. I don't get the reviews. I wish I had the same experience. I ordered on Door Dash (I know it's not as good as dining in but should be comparable). The app didn't give me an option to add sauces, so I called the restaurant after placing my order and asked if they could send me an eel sauce, the guy on the phone was pleasant and assured me it would come with my meal. When my food arrived, the sushi did not taste fresh (it was a room temp warm) which was an odd temperature for sushi, the ingredients weren't tasty, and the eel sauce was never packed. The 3 stars come from the fact that the crab wonton did taste good & came nice & warm. I kept hearing great things but am disappointed with the quality & service. This is a small restaurant tucked into a very small u shaped strip mall. Inside the decor is very clean and modern with Sake glowing blue on the back wall. We've eaten here several times and the people serving are always very nice and helpful. Our food comes out quickly and beautifully presented. The sashimi is always very fresh and I love their ginger salad. Their food is moderately priced for Thai food and it certainly was worth the amount that I paid for (which was around $17 plus delivery fees). My food was hot and fresh when I received it and it definitely was dry (like other times when I've ordered the same dish from different places). The pad see ew was delish! It was wrapped in tin foil so it still retained much of the sauce at the bottom which made it taste fresh instead of old. The Thai donuts were soft, fresh, and hot. I loved the sauces that came with them...especially the sweet condensed milk one. They gave me plenty of food and I honestly had a difficult time trying to finish it all. Blue Sake is usually one of our favorites for sushi, but after tonights disappointment we won't return. The sushi have become incredibly small and not worth the price you pay for the rolls. Pick up tonight was a disarranged mess. All of our sushi rolls were cold even the shrimp in the Mexican roll was ice cold when usually it's warm. The owner Angie is super sweet as well as her brother Tom. The one server Christine, well not so much...
