Knew about this place because of my favorite Chinese takeout place (China One in Palm Harbor) she told me her husband has opened a sushi/Japanese restaurant in Dunedin by the causeway. We wanted to support so we stopped by one weekend. We didn't really know what to expect but we were very happy and full after our early Mother's Day dinner. Very clean and cheery when you walk in, not a lot of tables but we arrived at a perfect time and didn't have to wait. Our server Charlie was very friendly and attentive. We shared a pork Gyoza Appetizer and I had the Hibachi combo and Hubby enjoyed the Katzu Bento Box. Food was fresh and flavorful. Service was outstanding and even met Mom! My daughter loves sushi. We tried this place tonight. Service was really good and fast. Seems like this place is a family owned business with their teenage family working. I could be wrong but thats what it looked like. The young man who served us was really good and attentive. The sushi was delicious and im excited to try other sushi there on future visits. Sakura has become our only go-to for sushi. I will say that after moving here a few years ago it took us quite a while to find a place that we liked. We were spoiled with AHHHHMAZING sushi where we came from, so it was a challenge. We've learned to not compare and just enjoy GOOD sushi from here. Our favorite rolls are the Super Crunch Roll and the London Roll. Also the servers are ALWAYS ALWAYS very friendly and efficient! I tried a piece & loved the blend of flavors & freshness. I ordered a tempura shrimp box which came with soup, salad, tempura shrimp, tempura veggies, & rice. It was a most excellent meal choice. The tempura batter was so delicate & light & tasty & non-oily. The shrimp were surprisingly huge & fresh. The veggies were simply awesome including tempura sweet potato, tempura zucchini, & tempura onion among others. The salad was served ice crisp with a flavorful Asian ginger dressing. The miso soup was warm & comforting. And the tempura box also came with its own avocado sushi & amazing krab Rangoon. I really wanted to give this review a two star but there were people in my group that said their food was decent. I ordered the spring rolls. It appeared that most of the filling had been cooked out because it was about a fifth full and what was in there was a gray looking mush, no texture and no flavor. I also ordered the spicy combo sushi entree. This time the mush was orange.... supposed to be tuna, salmon, and crab. Well they were different shades of orange....it all tasted the same.... textureless, flavorless.... wasabi couldn't even help Sorry but I call em like I see em...or taste em. read more

So impressed with this restaurant! I haven't been able to find great sushi in North Pinellas since Jo-To's in Countryside closed several years ago. We've been here several times for lunch and everything has been great--very fresh, HUGE portions and ridiculously fair prices! They have a great assortment of Bento boxes as well as regular and fancy rolls and appetizers. I've had all the tuna and avocado rolls as well as some of the Tempura ones; all delicious. The restaurant is EXCEPTIONALLY clean, including the bathrooms, and the inside seating is pleasant and serene. Really nice spot for a quiet, cozy lunch. Came in for dinner last night, and it was pretty busy and they don't have a ton of dining space. The restaurant was clean and the lighting was not stark. For our next visit we might order take out from here. Since the tables were full, the service was a little slow, and servers seemed stressed with multiple apologies during our dinner. We appreciated that, but we also understand how short most restaurants are right now. There were a lot of take out orders, and a big party ahead of us which may have slowed the kitchen down. I would go in for mid-week or on a not so busy Friday night. I ordered the Vegetable hibachi, which was served with a soup, and ginger salad. The ginger dressing was so good. Hidden in the Publix shopping mall near the Dunedin Causeway we discovered a new Japanese go to eats place. Always up to try a new spot, we ventured on in. Place wasn't very big, but clean, and staff was warm and friendly. We were asked to seat ourselves at a table or booth. We ordered the Jasmine tea and it was delicious. I prefer drinking tea out of the smaller cups, but that's my preference. We enjoyed our food. It was made fresh and we observed portions at the other tables were just as large and enjoyed by other customers. Everyone there left with left overs because of the large portions. Several people eating Sushi ordered extra sushi to go. The bathroom was clean. Now here is why I chose not to give a 5 star rating. When I'm new to a restaurant I let the wait staff know I've never been to their place. I ask what do you recommend I should try. Here I was told, everything is good. Well yes, I hope so, but what do you recommend. I want staff to know their menu and what are the favorites, give me a few appetizers and main dishes to pick, explain some of the dishes I should try. So stumbling through a large menu with many options, it was difficult to choose and took a while, I'm already hangry at this point, lol. Pointing a new customer to some favorites is helpful. The other suggestion, the table was ready with chopsticks, we are thankfully proficient in using them, but we're not asked if we needed regular utensils to eat with. Not everyone is comfortable with chopsticks, as was evident by patrons sitting with food on the table and unable to eat until they were able to call staff and ask for utensils. Dessert was good, but the fried banana could have been more crisp. The outside was chewy, and I'm not a fan of chocolate ice cream paired with this dish, once again personal preference though. Overall we enjoyed our food and will be back to try other dishes. read more
