Overpriced but the cookies are the only things that are worth it. I bought several island swirls to bring home to my family and we were all disappointed. At first, I was really excited to support a Filipino Hawaiian bakery but it's not really quality food. They're clean and nice but the products aren't worth the high prices. I will say a their cookies are a saving grace but the premium island swirls priced at 10 dollars and the others like the bar-- you would be better off saving your money for pretzels and boba next door. read more

One word to express my experience: unforgettable. My partner and I were warmly greeted by Chef Charles today. It was our first ever time at Mila's and the whole shop felt so warm and welcoming. The music playing honestly made me feel like I was back in Hawaii, followed by the gorgeous array of desserts. Chef Charles wasn't hesitant to answer any of our questions, and even shared some beautiful stories on the finding of the business. His interaction truly made us feel like a part of his own Ohana. I ended up ordering Mila's Famous Banana Pudding and my Partner one of their tropical island swirls. I've had banana pudding before, one of my personal favorite desserts ever, but I've never had a banana pudding that tasted so fresh, smooth, and delicious. Personally, my partner and I will be back. I've been wanting to support this place I mean like realllly try to support this small business. The first time I was there a couple weeks ago, the one guy in there was so busy with ONE customer chatting about his story he didn't even bother acknowledging any customers walking in or waiting inside the shop. We waited over 15 minutes and left. Today, they had a pop-up shop stationed inside Nordstrom entrance. I was really excited to try their cookies and puddings. This younger gentleman at the pop-up station was courteous & helpful and told us we would have to go to the store 2 stores down to purchase the cookies. So we went to the store and the same guy was there again but honestly, I don't know what it is, but this guy just didn't seem like he really cared if he had business. We asked for the cookies and he told us he didn't have any at the store. And we told him we were asked to come to the store to purchase the cookies from the pop-up station. And he just literally stood there... So we said OK??? How do we purchase the cookies?? And he just looked at us and said he doesn't have any cookies. The lady at the pop-up station took them all... So it didn't occur to this guy that we are the customer and we shouldn't have to be running around just to purchase a damn bag of cookies. Literally he could've just called someone from the pop-up station to bring some cookies. Either way, since they don't need our business, we don't need to waste our money either. We came here on a Thursday night for Mila's cooking class. This kitchen is located inside the Brea mall and we parked at Nordstrom. We were greeted so warmly immediately when stepping in and met the owners as well as their staff. They're a husband and wife duo. Husband is the chef and the wife is the manager of the whole operation. She took time to introduce the store, the history, and what we'd be making today which was pasta. Husband has an impressive culinary background working and training under Wolfgang Puck. The class was around 2 hours. We made 2 types of pasta from scratch with flour and eggs with a small break in the middle to let the dough rest. We bought some of their goodies: mango tres leches, Ube kings Hawaiian bread roll, and the banana pudding. All of them were great and not too sweet! We were able to take home the 2 pasta shape bags to make at home with recipes they emailed to us. I do wish we were able to eat it there, but because it's a smaller location with no sink/burner, keep in mind that it's an instructional class to take home after. Reasonable for a $45 class! Finally got the chance to check out Mila's. I came here for the sole purpose of eating anything Ube lol and it did not disappoint. Their price points are a little high though, and the employees seemed a little lackluster. But we were greeted and treated well. There is nowhere to sit or anything inside, so it's definitely a to go place. I took my ube tres leches to go. It was delicious, however it was almost $13. First of all, if you're wondering if this spot is legit, yes it is! The chef/owner is a real cool dude from Hawaii and was really friendly to talk to. I've been here twice already (in two weeks lol). My first experience, I got the banana pudding only- I was a little surprised as the dessert was a little liquidy? Not in a bad way but I'd just never had a banana pudding with that consistency. Nonetheless, it was scarfed down/drank up. 7 days later, my girlfriend and I are back again. This time, I came just for the banana pudding but ended up chatting with the owner (sorry I forgot your name brah! I was the one who asked if your photo is on the card machine, aloha!) this time, the consistency was a lot more solid and on par with the typical banana pudding, which led us to believe maybe they just had an off day before (Even with the off day though, we still came back). Tonight we did the pasta cooking class!! The staff and husband and wife duo are super duper friendly, sweet, personable and the service was great! It made the experience so enjoyable. Usually you have to go to LA to get this kind of experience but I'm so happy we have this opportunity so local to us. The vibes are so cozy, intimate, and cute! Def good for a date night or a cutesy girls date! During the break we just ate the dessert that they sold in store. Sad we didn't get to take a picture cuz we ate it so fast, but it the Kings Hawaiian partnered cream rolls, mango tres leches, and banana cream pudding were 10/10. First off, I rarely leave bad reviews without actually trying a product but my first impression was very underwhelming and I had to share my experience. I entered around noon or so and there was one customer inside being helped by a guy. The guy working was explaining all the products one by one because the customer couldn't make up their mind and had endless questions. I made my way inside and received no greeting. I went to every shelf to look around and was eyeing their food products behind the glass while walking back and forth a few times but still did not get any greeting or even a simple "I'll be right with you." There was a little class going on and a female walked back and forth from the counter to the back tables a few times and not once did she say anything to me. After walking back and forth for a few minutes, I decided to leave and I'm glad I did because everything seems to be overpriced anyways. I've been looking forward to this place since they opened up but there's absolutely no reason to go back because of the lack of customer service. I've been working in the customer service industry for over 15 years and this was one of the most disappointing experiences to date. I'm generally a really patient guy but to go a few minutes while walking back and forth two to three times without any verbal feedback is very frustrating. What a damn shame. I left and went to See's Candies right away because the service there is always spectacular even if it's busy AND you will get greeted no matter what. read more

Haven't been to this mall in years, saw this place and had to stop by, bought a few of the island swirls. Got the ube, pandan and guava. It's so cute in its little box. You also get coconut sauce to pour on top. Its like eating a cinnamon roll but made of Hawaiin rolls, pretty good. My favorite out of the 3 is pandan and ube. Also got Musubi and Mochi. Delicious food!! We tried the island swirl and the tres leches! All so good and we are definitely coming back for the banana pudding because it was sold out! My daughter loves the spam musubi too. I decided to try the Kona coffee tiramisu, which was beautifully presented and not overly sweet. The sweet treat was definitely nice to have after a long day at the mall, although I personally would have loved a slightly stronger coffee flavor. One small downside was that I was hoping to find li hing mui powder, but when I asked the cashier, he didn't seem to know what I was referring to. Hopefully that's something they can carry in the future. Overall, it was a great experience and a fun find. Edit: because I can't reply, when I first mentioned I was just back from HI, I meant I was looking for the "flavors" not the food; and as someone who eats and travels a lot for food, specifically cinnamon rolls and donuts, I know my textures for bread. I bought a pandan swirl, a warm swirl, a guava loaf of bread, a poke bowl, and a banana pudding- $62! Again, willing to pay the price for the flavor, but both "swirls" AND the guava loaf was so D-R-Y, like stale bread stuck to the roof of your mouth dry. The drizzle for the top of the swirls, AMAZING, and THAT made it slightly edible- but I was so sad it wasn't something to just be devoured. The girl helping was great!! Wonderful demeanor and knowledge etc, the woman behind her wasn't so nice... idk who she was, but she was definitely a "boss" of some sort, and was very short and rude. I haven't been to the Brea Mall in years, but we made a special trip just to visit Milas Kitchen--and it was 100% worth it! Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. I found the most beautiful sign for my home, and the butter mochi was absolutely delicious. You can really tell there's so much heart put into everything they offer. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We came to celebrate my daughter's birthday (she specifically wanted the butter mochi!), and they went above and beyond by gifting her a free lei--such a sweet and thoughtful touch. I'm already looking forward to coming back, especially to check out their kids' classes and other activities. This place is truly something special! read more

I visited this store at the mall last Saturday after noticing the large crowd and customers leaving with well-packaged boxes. The concept initially seemed appealing, it's a boutique-style grocery store featuring Hawaiian treats, along with charcuterie boards and other workshops. During my visit, I interacted with one of the associates who was professional, friendly, and attentive. Based on that interaction alone, the customer service seemed promising. However, my experience changed after speaking with who appeared to be the owner, identified as Jamie on her name tag. While I was initially open to conversation, the discussion quickly became unrelated and excessive, covering topics that had nothing to do with the business or customer experience (or maybe I didn't really care about The Rock and Jason Momoa). Although I remained polite and engaged, it became clear there was a lack of awareness in maintaining a professional and customer-focused interaction. More concerning was the abrupt shift in attitude at the end of the conversation. The demeanor became noticeably dismissive and unwelcoming, which created an uncomfortable impression as a customer. I barely posted a comment for a store but I hope this will help with improving when they just opened and I just saw a comment mentioning about this lady's attitude too! In terms of the products, the poke was well-prepared and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the desserts did not meet expectations, they tasted artificial, particularly the "island swirl." Additionally, the spam musubi was disappointing in both portion and value. The slice of spam was EXTREMELY THIN (approximately a fraction of a standard portion), making the $6 price point feel unjustified. I will include the pictures of their beautiful swirls (IMPRESSIVE WITH THESE), I think you all should come try out their workshops and other Hawaiian treats. This is such a wonderful place for all of the islanders that are missing home. They offer a wide range of island desserts, including a delicious banana puddings, island swirls, and premium box cake puddings. We had the ube island swirl, strawberry guava premium pudding box cake, plus the poke of the day. The poke was the perfect amount and was served with furikake chips from Kona, HI. Everything was ono (delicious), the staff was welcoming and friendly, and the space itself was gorgeous. I noticed that they also sell pantry items (li hing mui candies and other island treats), fresh flower lei, and lots of other island goods. They also have lots of community workshops coming up and I can't wait to check those out. Will be back with my ohana to try out more of the menu! read more

We picked up a few items but the guys who were helping us were so nice!! Haven't tried the food items that we bought yet, but we are super excited to try them!! We will definitely be back as well. O Mila's Kitchen Hawaii, how I love thee. Let me count the ways. Stopped by this snack bar and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. The Island Swirls® are a must -- using KING'S HAWAIIAN® sweet bread makes them extra fluffy, and the coconut sauce drizzle adds the perfect island touch. The Spam Musubi and Poke of the Day were fresh and flavorful. For sweets, the OG Butter Mochi and Ube Sugar Cookie were my favorites -- perfectly chewy and not overly sweet. Also loved the Furikake Rice Krispy Treat for that sweet and salty combo. What makes this place even more special is that they have a creative area in the store where they host classes. Through art, culture, and hands-on creativity, their programs nurture imagination and connection while introducing island-inspired traditions to the Orange County community. I was really excited about this opening up so I'm really bummed to be writing this review :( I came to Mila's after seeing the photos of their puddings on their website because they looked AMAZING. We went in and it was empty in there and the mall wasn't busy. However, they were out of every single pudding but the banana pudding. They didn't even have a paper menu or something above to look at. They don't make anything in house and said they have "drops" but couldn't even tell me when those were. The biggest problem is the banana pudding we got looks absolutely NOTHING like the photos. not even close! I attached photos for reference. And $10 for this seemed crazy... The pudding itself was good. Not bad at all, but definitely not amazing, and the bananas were very very brown. First time coming here and being a huge fan of banana pudding I was excited to give this a try and let me tell you. It might be the best banana pudding I've ever had, it's definitely in the conversation. It was so good I actually went back and looked at the other things in the menu and ended up getting an ube cheesecake slice (never had ube and it was absolutely incredible) and a slice of the rainbow cake which was also a really good slice of cake! With big chains every where you go, we find connections with the staff is hard to find these days, but felt effortless and easy here at Mila's. Stopped by on Monday since the line was so long the other day and I was curious to try some of their desserts and snacks. The desserts themselves are good and definitely worth trying. However, the experience at the counter was a bit awkward. I think I spoke with the owner, and she spent about 10-15 minutes talking about the islands and the background of the store. It felt more like a long introduction than a quick interaction, and there was some subtle pressure to buy something after the conversation. I understand she's passionate about her business, but it was a bit more talking than I expected when I just wanted to browse and try a dessert. Overall, the desserts are tasty, but I'd probably prefer a quicker, more relaxed interaction next time. read more

Stumbled across this place while doing errands. As someone born and raised in Hawaii I had to try them. Got the assorted butter mochi, which was amazing; the strawberry and mango butter mochi were my favorite but the original and Ube were a close second as well. Also tried the mango cheesecake - delicious, very mango forward and not overly sweet which I feel like is a common pitfall for cheesecakes.
