This place is in a great spot in the Morro Bay pier with seaside dining by the water. We came here for dinner. We ordered a clam chowder bread bowl and a lobster bisque bread bowl. The bread bowls are toasted and the tops were butter toasted to perfection. They put croutons on the soup which was a nice touch (but personally I could have done without them). The staff was so friendly and attentive. My lobster bisque was really delicious and seasoned just right. What a great first meal for us this cute seaside town. It was so nice to eat on the deck enjoying the sun, the marine life around us (including a pesky seagull) and the amazing ocean views. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A lot of customers were enjoying a glass of wine on the deck. They do not offer desserts but our server recommended a spot of us just a short walk down the pier. The service was by far the rudest I have ever experienced. We came in for a drink and an appetizer. We were answered by an angry response with every single question asked. We asked if they had a full bar and the reply was we don't because we don't. After asking if we wanted sourdough for the soup they brought a couple of toasted slices of bread. I'm pretty easy going but this? WTF? We went next door and had a great time and conversation with other patrons. Before I write these reviews, I do my homework. I look through reviews already wrote up on Yelp, don't want to judge, if it is a one off. Before I give you my review here are the stats - 2022 - 57 reviews 32 are failing! Rosemarie you answer back, same cookie cutter reply, but it seems nothing has changed. Here is my experience today. Waited at the front door, finally wait staff person points at a table and says " you can sit over there" we get to the table, it's dirty, BAD! She cleans it off (not a very good job) and mumbles something about " I told the owners, they don't listen". Then walks away and said someone will be right with us. My Wife takes wet wipes out of her purse and cleans the table. 19 minutes later, a guy comes over and ask what we want to drink. Hate to be mean, put your hat on right and look like you want to work there. Well I would like to tell you about the food, but he never came back. So we got up and left, he saw us and never said a word. I'm the type of person, because I did take up your space for twenty minutes, I actually left $2 on the table. This gets better, on my way out I see 6 of my Friends. I tell them eat there with caution. So we all go down the street and eat, food from there was excellent. The lobster bisque (supposedly a repeat "People's Choice Award") was a huge disappointment. It had zero lobster flavor - it was like eating a bowl of cream with some croutons on top. To top it off, it was barely lukewarm. When the waiter came to clear my mostly full bowl, I told him he needed to tell the kitchen about the cold soup. His response: "Okay." We were unsure where to go when we entered as the hostess is outside overseeing outside dining. We stood around confused until a busser pointed us to an open table. Then we were able to move again when another opened up. Most diners seemed happy to be outside wearing jackets with a gorgeous bay view of Morro Rock. The portions were huge! The food was tasty and typical of breakfast fare with an average of $13 to $15 entrees. The big draw to this eatery is the view with the food secondary. The public restrooms are conveniently around the corner from the restaurant. Overall this is a great place to grab breakfast with a priceless view. read more

To start with, service. We were there with six people and two dogs (mini poodles) on the deck and the waitress was extraordinary patient. Ambiance-decent view of the bay. Food: it was noon and we all opted for breakfast menu, which goes until 2:00 pm. I had huevos rancheros, which was quite good. The sour cream and guacamole were included, which not all restaurants do. The guacamole and salsa in the huevos were fresh and tasty. Overall yum! My wife and I visit Morro Bay every year to two years, and we always make it a point to eat at Blue Sky Bistro. Our favorite breakfast dish is The Rock, an excellent scramble. Today, we asked if we could split it, and they brought it out on two plates. Perfect! The views of the ocean and Morro Rock are outstanding, the music is chill, and the indoor and outdoor dining areas are cozy. If you only have time for one brunch, I'd say you should make it Blue Sky Bistro! read more

I ordered over easy it was a bit more runny than I would have liked maybe I should've ordered over hard? The potato's were pretty good but nothing to write home about. The toast was plain they do bring you butter and jams tho. I'm guessing since it's so close to the water food doesn't stay warm for long. It was luke warm at best. Excellent and friendly service. Good food. Comfortable inside and outside on their deck. 18% Service Fee on our bill...that's a gigantic ripoff. Five of us, three adults and two little kids...18% service fee to sit there. We ordered one kids sandwich, adult nachos, and a beer. The place was almost empty when we arrived and when we left, no one else was in the restaurant. If the bill had been $100, we would have had to pay an $18 Service Fee. As it was, we had to pay $9 for a Service Fee and we were probably at Blue Sky for 30 minutes. Blinking robbery and a destructive business practice. To pull the chair out and sit down, we would hit the chair of the person behind us, This table is first one on left just inside the door. There was literally eight inches to pull the chair out before hitting chair behind us. We moved to a table just across from the one assigned to us. Not sure, but may have offended the staff, as they did not seem to care at all if we were there or not. We did order clam chowder and two drinks. The drinks were brought to the table, as were two bowls of very good clam chowder. There was no interaction with anyone working here other than the mistakenly sitting us too close to other table and the tall male waiter taking the order. Food was delivered, the bill was delivered not a word was said. Certainly did not feel welcome. We finished our food, paid the bill with exact change, left $30.34 on the table, and a crappy tip that reflected the service. I do not recommend. No one said anything on the way out either, walked by two employees. read more

The first time we ate here a few years ago it was good. The second was ok but the 3rd time just a few weeks ago was so bad. The orange juice was rotten tasting and realized the machine it came out of had thick orange stuff caked on the sides. The bacon was so hard and stuff with an old discoloration that tasted like it was from a year ago. The fruit they put on our plates was also rotten with obvious signs. There was maybe another table of people in there but they had 4 guys just standing around in the small kitchen just chatting it up and laughing. I mean at least clean something. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by because of the really good reviews we read, however our experience wasn't too pleasant. The wait to be seated took a little longer than expected, the waiter wasn't enthusiastic about serving us ( this is also something we saw other guest deal with). We decided to order an appetizer, while we continued to look over the menu. However, the waiter never came back to take our order, after 30 minutes when he finally went to another table near ours I asked him if he can take our order considering we had already finished our appetizer. The food was out quicker than expected, but it was okay, nothing mind blowing, if not underwhelming for the price. Overall, I think if the customer service was better the experience would have been a lot more enjoyable. Only thing I would say is the cup is simply an appetizer so do not just get that for your meal. My boyfriend got the chicken picatta, which is described as a breaded chicken with vegetables and pasta. When we got it, there was no pasta in sight! The chicken and vegetables were just okay, and when we asked about the missing pasta, we were told "it has a potato, no?" He continued to insist that the chicken picatta did not include pasta, which we paid $28 for. For a mere chicken and veggies! After showing the waiter the menu description, he offered to bring out a side of pasta, but there was no apology. Once the pasta came out, it was smaller than my boyfriend's hand and included nothing but noodles and tomatoes. Maybe a bit of garlic. I stopped in alone for breakfast this morning. I was beginning to think that I had miscommunicated my intention to eat alone but the waitress -- who had seated me -- finally asked if I wanted to order. I ordered Iced Tea and the Garden Bagel. It didn't take long for my Garden Bagel to arrive but I had to ask again for the Iced Tea. She had forgotten. About 10 minutes after I'd left, I returned with my niece and a family friend. They were done kayaking and ready to eat. This time, the same waitress was Janie-on-the-spot. She took our orders (I had more tea while the others ate) promptly. She was quite pleasant. I had no complaints. The Garden Bagel was good. The description says "spinach" which I got. An hour later, my friend ordered it and hers came with leaf lettuce instead of spinach; no big deal. We went to Blue Sky Bistro for a few cocktails. The view is nice to the pier and the Morro rock. I had two glasses of their Riesling and it was pretty sweet, so if you like less sweet wines, it's probably not for you. I also had their garlic prawns and they were disappointing, I didn't taste the garlic at all and the prawns were quite bland. Their own cocktail sauce was also quite standard. I am not 100% sure but there is doubt in my mind that they weren't even prawns but shrimp..I'll update the review if the owner/manager states otherwise. Overall a nice place to have a cocktail but the food menu is pretty much diner style. The service was good but could of been more attentive. read more

For $18 I was expecting a lot more from my sandwich the meat was adequate, just not a lot for $18. The bread was bland white bread, and I ordered my sandwich without avocado, and had to pick it out of my sandwich. The tomatoes were tasteless and the sandwich had a distinctive "sour" taste. The bread was NOT sourdough. The coleslaw was good. My wife's meatball sandwich was also on bland white bread, one bread was toasted, the other wasn't and the meatball was like a paste and not very flavorful.
