This place is HORRIBLE! Do not go to them. I went there to fix my car the oxygen censor and the neutral safety switch were what needed to be fixed. They charged me $1600 to fix just that. They over charged me!!!! The mechanics here are not real mechanics or new at what they do. They took TWO WEEKs to give me my car back. I recently had my 2001 Mercedes painted by Blue Star, not sure if they are the least expensive, but the job was perfect. Totally happy. Unfortunately my girlfriend backed the car into a tree branch a week later damaging the trunk. I went back and got whet seemed to be a high estimate. They explained in detail why it would cost as much as they estimated. the trunk lid needed to be replaced (fiberglass) and they would need to reset the computer that opens the trunk. I went to another highly rated shop and got a very similar story. I went back to Blue Star and said how about just a patch job, they were reluctant, they couldn't guarantee the work, it could crack. After much pleading they agreed to patch it up as best the can. Of course it came out like new, they clearly take pride in their work. read more

I took our brand new (less than 1500 miles) honda in after scraping and denting along one side and back bumper. (Argh). I spoke frequently to Ivan and his team who were friendly, clear and prompt in answering my questions via email and phone and flexible in dealing with me and with our insurance. The repair work is beautiful and the car came back looking better than new: they did the extra step of sending our car out for detailed cleaning after the repairs. Their estimate was really close to our insurance estimate minimizing the back and forth time waste. It was clear that if I had any problems or concerns about the repair work, - which I had none- that they would take any problem seriously and aim to solve it. I picked them off the internet based on yelp reviews and a location near us. We live in Manhattan on the east side. There is a subway a short walk from them or Enterprise car rental as well. I support all of the positive reviews on Blue Star. In 2009, the passenger side of our Civic was smashed by an SUV in a parking lot, which also caused the door not to be able to open. We brought the car to Blue Star after shopping and pricing around the area. These guys were reasonably priced and nice! They did a great job -- good as new. Then, in 2010, we found a hole in our bumper (there was literally a clean, round hole in it, as if a motorcycle tail pipe had been touching it when it started). We didn't think twice, and brought it back to Blue Star Brothers. Again, they did a good job at a fair price. read more

I was borrowing a friends SUV and accidentally hit a post while pulling out of a driveway. I took it to Ivan at the suggestion of a friend who lives nearby. Because it was not my car - I insisted on OEM body panels, and his work ended up cheaper than the estimate we were given by another body shop for non-OEM panels. Once I picked up the car - I realized that they had done the color matching perfectly, and even the pinstripe on the new panels was perfectly lined up with the old panels. This place is very reasonably priced, gets the job done quickly, and is clearly committed to each client. I took my car here when my front passenger window got smashed. I brought it in at one (after talking to them earlier that morning), they had picked up a piece of glass from New Jersey (as my old volvo has weird window requirements), and were able to get it done for me by 5. It was obvious that they were invested in getting my car ready for me as quickly as possible. When I went to pick it up the people there were exceptionally friendly. I recently took my 2002 Honda Civic here and have absolutely nothing but kind words for this operation. Ivan and his son were extremely polite and professional. Just before coming here I got another quote in the neighborhood. Ivan ended up charging me about 10% less than the well reviewed competitor AND did an AMAZING job. These guys went WELL beyond my expectations. Not only did they fix the 2 areas of my car that we discussed, they also pulled out a 3rd and 4th dented area and touch-up painted the entire car. They also washed, waxed and buffed the exterior and cleaned the interior as well. Ok so some other reviewers talk about how dirty they left their car, I'll be honest a small piece of fine grit sandpaper was left behind. No big deal! Ivan seems like a pretty honest guy, relative to the auto mechanic biz. He fixed my smashed-in door and window, and when the window got stuck again he repaired it at no cost. On the other hand, after bringing it in a few times recently, they missed a basic inspection of my break pads and now I have to replace those and the damaged roters. I came here after seeing all of the good reviews. Unfortunately, this is the worst experience I've had with an auto-shop. Not only did they keep my car for 3 weeks, they towed it to an electrician and charged me $200 for the diagnostic fee without telling me beforehand. After feeling like I couldn't trust them I had it towed to a friend's shop only to find out the diagnostics were completely incorrect --- and the shop gave me an estimate of $1200 in repairs! I can't imagine how devastating this could be for others who don't have the luxury of having a friend that's a mechanic to get a second opinion. read more

I have a 21 year old Lincoln Town Car which sustained damage to the two left hand side doors. I live in Manhattan and received ridiculous quotes from several body shops. Based on the reviews I read I called Blue Star and went there there for an estimate. Ivan who runs the shop was cordial and quoted a great price which I accepted. I left the vehicle the following week and when completed the car looked like new. Due to the age of the vehicle there was more work involved than expected but the price held firm. Blue Star not only had the best quote, but they were by far the nicest guys I ever met and I trusted them completely to do an excellent job on my car and they delivered. I had already been taken for a ride on a dent on my door that was horribly repaired by some joker a few years back so I was hesitant about making the same mistake. I went here without an appointment to see if they could fix a headlight that someone backed into me and knocked out. The guys were super friendly and took care of the problem right on the spot! Took about an hour overall and they charged me next to nothing. I own a '08 Audi A6 (black). I was rear ended which caused the paint on my black, back bumper to chip down to the base. I had my back bumper patched, sanded and repainted. The job was phenomenal. The owners are extremely nice and will do whatever it takes to make you happy. Ivan, the owner, even agreed to fix a minor paint issue on top of my trunk at no charge. They also did a paint-less dent repair on my door for a small dent which was also done very well. While my car was at the shop, I managed to get a screw in my tire. LOOK NO FURTHER FOR AN AUTO BODY SHOP - GO HERE! These guys really went above and beyond the call of duty. From the very moment I walked in the door I felt GOOD. As a female, this is not a familiar thing to feel when walking into most auto repair or service places. Ivan was attentive, responsive and communicative from the very moment I walked in. I really felt like he was on my side and the work they've done for me has proved as much. There were several areas where the paint was peeling on my car and another large dent from another hit-while-parked scenario where the driver left. They went ahead and repaired all this stuff that was unrelated to the insurance claim and didn't charge me any extra. When it became clear that the car was going to take an extra day they were very communicative about it. The 1998 volvo which had regressed to city beater now looks so good that I want to upgrade the torn cloth seats to leather and they're even helping me source some nice used ones. During the most recent snow, some moron hit my parked, '98 Honda Civic overnight and took off leaving my bumper destroyed, my left rear quarter panel halfway through my trunk, and yours truly to pay for all this out of pocket so shallow your feet wouldn't get wet. After calling around and dealing with the ambivalence you would expect over the phone from a collision shop (..."bring it in we'll take a look at it; uh oh, can't let you drive outta here like that... we're gonna have to rebuild your car from scratch and order parts which can only be hand crafted by the most skilled artisans as far away as the highest shipping charges we can bill you for."), I called Blue Star and spoke with Ivan. Right off the bat I caught a good vibe; he took a decent minute to listen, and after emailing him a picture of the damage, Ivan was able to give me the most accurate estimate I have ever been quoted over the phone by anyone for anything (car stuff, travel, insurance, etc.). Ivan even stated that they have approximately a 95% accuracy rate when it comes to quoting damage from pictures sent on-line. Not only was I given a quote to replace all the parts, but a cheaper quote to simply repair the damage. I took that as another good sign since most places will only give you one expensive replacement quote. So far it all sounded good, but talk is cheap and while I don't believe everything I'm told, my car was still a pile of hot mess on the street so I took a leap of faith and brought it in. Ivan and I surveyed the damage in person and I was given a third quote that was between half and less than half of the other two quotes. Not only did he advise we go the least expensive route, which included replacing the bumper, the damaged tail light, and just straightening out the quarter panel with no detailing (not planning on going to any auto shows with my car, just points A to B and the occasional C), but Ivan offered to do the cheap repair first for the cost quoted, I would then come back and see if I would want to go further. I was thinking to myself, 'did I just find an auto repair place on the level in New York?' Well it is sunny and 50 deg in the middle of winter. Although still skeptical, I left my car there. For what he was quoting me I couldn't afford not to. I figured I would come back see where we were at and probably end up biting the bullet for the extra work, find a so-so job done in a "get what you pay for" cautionary tale, or have some new defects and expenses discovered to drive up the bill. Ivan called me a few days later and invited me to see the progress on the car and what work had been done for the the almost to good to be true quote. Walking over there I didn't have any expectations one way or the other, however when I arrived I was pleasantly amazed. Not only had the damaged been repaired, it looked like the accident never happened. What was my formerly compacted quarter panel now looked like it came right out of the factory mold minus the missing paint from the accident. The car was ready to drive home right then and there for the exact price quoted. Ivan even tossed me the keys and insisted I double check to make sure i was happy and that everything worked which it did (lights, trunk latch, gas latch, etc.). Not only was the quote accurate to a "T" but he even offered to touch up the paint with some rust proofing for no extra charge. Totally impressed, I left my car there for the touch up work and asked him to take care of another pre-accident issue with my door, since he did such fine work on the rest of the car, and once again I received a great quote and great work. , almost looks like it never happened; I only say almost since I didn't go for the fine detail work. Bottom line my car is structurally 100% back where it should be and 95% cosmetically. All told, the repairs took a little over a week; which I did not mind at all, especially for the end result; these guys are busy for a reason, (Good things come to those who wait and to those who can't... Its New York, you can survive without a car for a week or so, besides, the walking will do you good.) The price and the quality of work are as good as it gets anywhere, not just in NYC. More than that, they're honest, decent, and on the level. I triple dog dare you to find a cost, quality, and honesty trifecta that compares to the folks at Blue Star Bros. read more

I really must say I was surprised and thrilled by Blue Star. I have a 10 year old Camry that was banged up a bit. It absolutely needed a new rear bumper and a new side mirror from an accident, and quite frankly a new front bumper was in order. The price they (Ivan Jr) quoted me was reasonable - not overly cheap but not expensive or unreasonable. I received multiple quotes and they were "in the range". Ivan had me bring the car back a few days later for the repair. I liked that he didn't tell me to just leave the car immediately; he was upfront and said that they had a bunch of appointments for the next few days. My repairs weren't urgent so no biggie - I appreciated his honesty. I brought the car in on a Wednesday and was told it would take about a week which i thought was reasonable. It did wind up taking till the following Friday - but to be honest two extra days didn't seem unreasonable and I've had experiences with repair shops where delays were over a week. When I got the car back, it was beautiful - like new. Everything was perfect. They also buffed the car. There was some wear and tear on the car body before I gave the car to Blue Star; most of it was gone when I got it back. They did a great job. The car inside was kept very clean; I think someone wrote that was an issue but I didn't see any issue there. While I hope to not need an auto body shop any time soon again, if I did I would have no reservations about going to Blue Star. Ivan Sr and Ivan Jr were very helpful and responsive. read more

I was "tapped" by a cab near the front wheel on the passenger side. The cabbie drove away before my mind caught up with what happened given that it was not an obvious collision. When I checked the car it had a light dent and some scuff marks. This car is over 12 years old, so I was not going to be concerned about it's appearance. However, I discovered that the passenger door would no longer open fully because of the dent. This, I was concerned about. First I attempted to pull the dent out myself, but I seemed to only be making it worse. I then found Blue Star on Yelp, and given the positive reviews I decided to go there for an estimate. The guy there looked at my car and told me that if I came back in 20 minutes he could pull it out for free. Sold! Once they were able to get my car in the garage, he took out what seemed to be a specialized hook and restored the panel to it's proper shape in about 2 minutes flat. They were quick, professional, and pleasant. I left with a properly functioning car for just the cost of a generous tip. Highly recommended! read more

Heard about this place through a friend, and always kept it the back of my mind for an emergency. Well, that was today. I got into my car this morning and found it wouldn't start. After a few tries with the ignition, the engine started but it failed as soon as I switched gears. Called Ivan in a panic, and he came within fifteen minutes to check the car where I was parked. We then took it up to the shop where he quickly diagnosed the issue and got to trying to fix it. I was charged less than the initial estimate, and was very pleased with the service. Ivan is awesome! This is my first car (an Audi A6), and on the third day of owning it, I side-swiped a city bus scratching and denting the front and rear doors as well as the panel over the wheel. The car also had some damage on the bumper when I bought it. Ivan's estimate was 1/3 of the estimate of a shop around the corner. The paint match was perfect and there is no indication of the dents. He also did the whole bumper, rather than just the damaged size. When I first picked up the car, it looked like there was a space between the moldings and the doors. It looked sloppy - I pointed it out to Ivan and he explained that sometimes the moldings can be taken off and easily replaced, it seemed this was not the case so he offered to order new moldings from Audi. A week later I came back and within a few hours he was able to replace the moldings. Everything looks perfect. He also fixed the wheel, which I had only later realized was also damaged (in photos), for free, even though it wasn't in the estimate. I'll definitely go there next time I hit something! read more

My 14 year old car got hit while parked in Brooklyn, with an extensive damage to the hood, broken headlight//side light and grille. I intended to try to fix it myself, then realized that the radiator support beam was bent, which would require a professional grade hydraulic tool to make the repair. I bought all replacement parts on ebay under $400, including a new hood. I did some research online and decided to pay a visit to Ivan's shop in Greenpoint. From the very start, Ivan was courteous, very professional, listened what i want, made me a good offer, and executed the repair very well in a reasonable time frame. As a bonus, he did few small repairs free of charge. Car was returned to me clean. I find Ivan to be a great professional with a very good sense of his customer 's needs. I don't normally write many reviews but Ivan is truly worthy of it. He replaces a huge dent on the side of my black 2005 A4 Cabrio and it truly came out like new. I was very hesitant about having the work done outside of an audi shop b/c of the worry that the paint match wouldnt be what i would be satisfied with but he really excedeed my expectations and not to mention his veryyyy reasonable price that nearly came in half of what the other guys were charching. besides the car being left a lil dirties then i would have likes but i'm sure that was only b/c i was rushing him and didnt' really let him finish but nothing the car wash couldnt clean all in all I'm beyond happy with my car.
