I heard of Blue Star Brothers from a random referral when I was in need of help. This place is Busy due to what appeared to be popularity. Ivan and crew did an excellent job and quoted me much lower then what I expected to pay. They defiantly know what it means to provide superior service and respectable solutions. Paid $500 for an oil change, having some rust removed, my headlights polished, and hinges replaced on my hood. Supposedly they decompressed the front by pulling it out with a machine. Still needed an alignment, which I'm paying extra for elsewhere. They removed a rod from the hood so it wouldn't stay open on it's own, leaving it worse off than I left it, and most of the rust was not taken care of, so despite having 2 days to do all this I had them correct it while I waited. When I asked for a detailed receipt it was impossible and they argued it should've cost more. read more

I wish there were a sixth star or a tenth. I am so delighted by the service that I get at this body shop that I almost feel like crashing my car into a wall in order to give them more work. They color match expertly and [dare I say, lovingly] attend to every detail of autobody repair. I've had mutilated fenders seamlessly repaired and painted, side-view mirrors replaced, bumpers refinished perfectly, a hood repainted, tires ordered, etc. The place is very busy and you realize why the second you meet these people. These consummate professionals treat their clientele like family from the moment you walk in the door. They are the nicest and most caring people. They are honest (Ivan has talked me out of work!) and their prices are extremely fair bordering on absurdly low (and for the best work in town). On the one occasion when I spoke to another client as we were picking our cars up simultaneously, we were both raving about the service and work. That tells you something. There is no hard-sale because these guys get plenty of work. As busy as they are, I never have to wait for long and the car is always ready before I expect it to be. I'm no newbie to autobody repair and am embarrassed at how many cars I've had in NY. Ivan has fixed a 2007 BMW for a friend of mine, my 2002 Maxima, and my mother's 2004 Corolla, and in all instances, the work was utterly flawless. My mother lives ass-out in Queens and drives to Greenpoint when she needs any autobody service. I drive from South Brooklyn. My friend with the BMW drives in from Jersey City! These guys are worth it and you'll save a lot of dough. Just brilliant. Thank you Ivan and family! I am so indebted to you! If only all auto body and mechanical repair shops would pay attention to customer service the way Ivan and the staff at Blue Star do. Happy customers will return, refer others and gladly spike your Yelp rating. It's such a simple, relatively painless philosophy, yet, so few of these businesses pay it the requisite attention...Btw, I've been to a number of auto repair outfits in Brooklyn and none hold a candle to Blue Star in terms of that Holy Grail of CUSTOMER SERVICE. (Granted these are not all collision repair places, but my point Re. customer service stands.) So anyway, my car, while parked in Bed-Stuy, was the victim of a hit and run, and sustained moderate cosmetic damage to the front end. Mine being a German car, any damage, whatever the level tends to come with a hefty (non-moderate) price tag. I dreaded the prospect of finding a good, reputable collision repair shop that wouldn't squeeze me dry. I have no collision coverage, btw. Thanks to Yelp, I found Blue Star Brothers and based upon the positive reviews decided to go there first for a quote. I phoned Ivan and he asked me to come right over. I got to Blue Star and he promptly surveyed the damage and went over what the repair would entail. We went into the office where he formulated a preliminary quote--he phoned his parts supplier right in front of me, while on the computer. (Ivan actually reminded me that Yelp referrals come with 10% off and proceeded to deduct that!) He quoted me a seemingly reasonable $850, but I told him that I still wanted to shop around. To this he responded with an understanding smile, "Of course!" and no hard-sell pressure. Needless to say, after visiting several other shops and being greeted with the industry- standard surly service (particularly @ Holy Land) and higher repair quotes, I returned to Blue Star. In three days Ivan had my VW looking as good as before the accident--there is no way to discern that it was ever even damaged. I swear it even drives better than before!! Last point: After fixing the car body, Ivan spent roughly an entire day trying to replace my tire due to the difficulty of removing the one locked lug nut, for which i did not have the key. He ended up having to go to the dealer himself and purchase a new key. I paid for the key but no additional labor charges. Again....say it with me kids..."CUSTOMER SERVICE!" read more

I took my car here for inspection and the told me I needed new brakes and had issues with my axles and wanted to do almost $1,000 worth of work on my car just to pass the inspection. Knowing that I had just had my car worked on a couple of months ago, decided to get a second opinion at a different auto body shop, and turns out my car is fine and does not need any of the items they advised. I won't be going back to Blue Star. read more

I have an 95 bmw that I love dearly. And while it runs magnificently the paint was peeling, chipped and showing its age. So it was time to show my sweetness some love. Found blue Star through Yelp. Right off, I was impressed with how genuine, Caring and civilized this family run operation was. sat down with the son who outlined the work needed, gave me a quote, ran the traditional Status Quo numbers, than slashed it practically in half (cash rules baby) They happily indulged my schedule . I needed the car for work, so they did repairs on weekends, and an odd weekday here and there to fit my needs. Were completely comfortable with a payment plan, and when it was all finished. Instead of just painting a few panels as planned, Ivan Repainted my Entire car, to showroom Wonder , "just cause it would look better".(he said) AT No Extra Charge!!!!! He also performed an assortment of extra-curricular body and mechanical work for FREE!!! I was blown away by how awesome these guys are. spent a good deal of time discussing my car, how to optimize it as well as movies, books, and general BS with Ivan, Pops and Son both, while they were working on my automobile. I never felt rushed and always felt welcomed. Ivan is super cool and they play classical music in the office which pretty much says it all to me. I came in to the place not knowing what to expect,nervous about getting reamed and ended up being extremely pleased with the work they did. It was Absolutely the right place for body work and restoring my car to brand new. Ivan is wonderful, the team is extremely diligent and hard working. I don't have a lot of experience with auto body shops, but this is the first one I've been to in the city and I was very pleased with the work done on my car. My back bumper had been seriously hit a few months ago when it was parked on the street (of course, no note), and it damaged not only the bumper but also the taillight and a panel between the two. I called a couple other body shops in Brooklyn which gave me a similar quote to Blue Star but honestly, I chose Blue star because they had such phenomenal yelp reviews. I'm also one of those people who don't know a lot about cars... in other words: an ideal customer to rip off...and I noticed a couple other yelpers who had excellent experience here had described themselves as such. I never felt I was being taken advantage of throughout the process.. and Ivan and his brother were very nice and professional through the whole process. With the raw quote it was suppose to be $1,000, but Ivan said he'd do it for $800 (I paid in cash of course... always remember, business owners hate credit card fees). My only complaint is that I had a small part hanging down undernieth my car that needed a simple bolt. They said it was a simple fix and would do that for no additional charge, but it was never done. I got it done at a dealership for $25 so whatever... Anyway, my car was returned to me in excellent condition and they thoroughly cleaned the outside as they knew I have plans on selling it soon. I have already recommended them to a friend whose bumper has been damaged as well, and will continue to recommend them to those of us crazy enough to own a car in the city. read more

Back in December of 2011, my 1989 Mercedes-Benz emerged from an accident with a nasty dent the driver-side fender. Without going too much into detail: heavy rain + worn tires + miscalculation = dents. When I arrived at Blue Star, I expected the worst for what was to be my first experience. However, Ivan, the friendly manager, wouldn't let me have an unpleasant story of my own. He listened patiently when I pointed out what I wanted done and then he thoroughly explained how he would go about fixing each of the things I mentioned. Ivan was very easy-going, down-to-earth, and wasn't at all pushy. He even took the time to explain some technical things to me. I was in and out of there, with what I thought to be a very reasonable estimate in hand, in less than 30 minutes. I visited two more shops in Brooklyn that day and two others a few months later in Woodside. None of them came close to matching Blue Star's estimate and, with the exception of Sam's Auto Body Shop in Brooklyn, none of them could measure up to the Blue Star experience. Over the handful of times I dropped by the shop, I saw a Mercedes W220 and X164, Cadillac CTS Coupe, Porsche 997, and an El Camino among the typical selection of Japmobiles so they've developed a decent customer base. Having found no satisfactory competitor, I started amassing the parts I needed and brought my car in 4 months later. Ivan honored his original estimate minus the parts that I had found myself. He is very communicative over the phone and, while he's often busy, my calls were always returned by the end of the day. The junkyard fender that I brought in had plenty of scratches and a large, but shallow dent which Blue Star repaired without charge. The paintwork is very good with only a few spots that could benefit from wet-sanding. They blended the new black into the old paint so well that it's indistinguishable and even the fender lip in the engine bay and wheel arch was painted. These guys polished the entire car, repaired a small rust spot, touched up some paint chips, diagnosed a suspension issue, and restored my nearly faded pin stripe at no additional cost to me. They painted the entire bumper too when the estimate only specified a particular area (probably because it would have been more work to blend new paint into faded matte paint). Though, I must say that they did leave the interior in a bit of a mess like others here have said, put a few small dings in my bumper chrome, and burned a quarter-sized hole through my trunk carpet--with what or how I cannot understand. I can't vouch for the turn-around because I left my car there having noted that I was in no real hurry. For me, it took about 18 days from drop off to drive off. All in all, Blue Star went above and beyond my expectations. I would not hesitate to deal with Ivan again or to recommend his shop to people who want good and honest auto bodywork at a price that's essentially unbeatable. You probably won't end up winning a trophy at the Concours d'Elegance, but Blue Star does a fine job and your car will come out looking like it should. So I didn't actually use Blue Star Brothers' services, but I called them to get a quote on replacing my drivers side window (which was smashed by some hooligans the evening before). Rather than try to convince me to come there, they gave me a quote, but then told me I was probably better off going elsewhere given my timing and price range and even suggested a place for me to go. So thought I'd share my one data point indicating that they do straight up business at this place. read more

Like it never happened! Friendly, Customer Service Oriented and Family owned.I went to Blue Star to get my CRV fixed this month after it had several dents and digs from people hitting it parking and massive, deep scratches on the passenger side doors. Blue Star had a very reasonable price and the work on my car is flawless and they also cleaned my car inside and out, right down to shampooing my rugs and polishing my tires. I would say the only down side to my experience was that I did have to wait an extra day for my car, which they were extremely apologetic for. But I would rather wait a day and have it done right, then have it rushed with mistakes. Great Auto Body Repair, Great Service. I will recommend them to friends with confidence. Oh.. and when they cleaned my car, they found money under the seat and I found it stuffed into my driver-side door. read more

Woke up on Halloween with the driver's side rear end smashed in. Within a couple of hours Ivan had taken care of all the paperwork with the insurance company , told me the process and assured me he will take care of everything. He did. I know i don't have any reviews under my belt, but please understand that this review is legitimate. Full disclosure, i am the mother of the woman who first reviewed Blue Star Brothers. My daughter (Delilah B.) has encouraged me to review this business as I am so indebted to Ivan and his family for making me feel less vulnerable when I have a problem with my car, either cosmetic or mechanical. I live in Rego Park but I take my car to Greenpoint because I don't know of a local autobody service or mechanic that has the same brilliant reputation or treats their customers as warmly and respectfully. Recently I got into a terrible accident on the BQE. I had the car towed to Ivan and he worked his magic. The car drives better now than it did before the accident and the cosmetic work he did on the fender, bumper, wheels, brakes, and undercarriage is flawless. I actually needed two new wheels -- not just tires -- and the price with all the work and parts was extremely reasonable. I was so relieved because the accident wasn't with another party so I hadn't reported it to my insurance company. Believe me, if I had been using the man on Woodhaven Blvd. I used to hire, I would have paid double. Ivan also fixed my air conditioner. He didn't just charge it. He replaced a part. I stupidly had it charged locally and it wasn't fixed. He knows how to do everything. One more thing: Celia, his wife, is an angel and she will make you feel most comfortable in the office. This is a family-run business and they make you feel like family when you are a repeat customer. I'm in my sixties and started driving in the '60s and I have never trusted a car shop more than I do this one. read more

After knowing no one, I researched Yelp, I went to this place, Ivan (the owner) was great they gave me an estimate, after thinking we resolved the problem I discovered it was still leaking water. These guys are great! I can't recommend them enough. They do quality work, are honest and friendly and stand behind everything they do. When we wrecked our car, we went out and go multiple quotes. Blue Star wasn't the cheapest, but it was a great price and they walked me through every price given. They also gave a print out of the quote, which several places didn't. So we went with them, and I'm glad we did. Our car looks brand new...even better than it did before the accident. I hope I never have to see them again, but if I ever need more body work, I'm coming here. read more

I took my 01 Max there after someone had hit my front bumper and ran...the damage was pretty significant and after calling up Blue Star, I knew I was in the right hands almost immediately. Ivan is the owner of the shop, and he's one of the most down-to-earth, and honest men I've ever worked with before (this is coming from someone that scrutinizes personalities, egos, and demeanors!). He asked me certain questions over the phone regarding the damage so that he could give me a correct estimate and even when I went there, he DIDN'T say, "you need this done, this done and this done...and it's gonna cost you about $1000 more"....but he gave me an honest price without any deviance. The quality of the work was good and the paint job is excellent and matches well. I hope Blue Star draws more customers in the near future as they are truly a worthy body shop. They just fixed two very minor problems on my car today in under 5 minutes and didn't come close to charging even a fraction of what any other shop would have. I can't believe I was driving my car for the past 6 months ignoring the squeaking from the loose front panel just because I knew if I brought my car to a place nearby my house, I'd get put through the ringer! If they did mechanic work too, I'd bring it here without hesitation. Really good guys. And yes, I bring my car to Blue Star all the way from Staten Island. Just because I moved from L.I.C. does not mean I'll give up a gem like that! D.L. is entitled to his review of course, and I'm sure it's helpful for many folks, even perhaps Blue Star, but his suspicious attitude of the other reviews here is fairly annoying. I've been acquainted with Ivan and his staff for many, many years and I can guarantee you that any positive attention that they are getting is not only long overdue, but well deserved. read more
