We went to Blue for my husband's birthday last night. It was our first time there. The food was great and staff was exceptionally friendly and accomodating. My only disappointment is that I mentioned to our waitress that it was my husband's birthday. Others at two seperate tables were also celebrating a birthday and staff acknowledged it by singing Happy Birthday at their table; while my husband's Special Day went unrecognized. When our waitress presented him with the bill at the end of our meal, I mentioned once again that it was his birthday and I was treating him - not even a "Happy Birthday" or a hint of a smile! Sad.... Now, my Special Day is coming up in a couple of months. My husband suggested that we go to Blue again to celebrate but I want to go some place where I get sang Happy birtday to! I arranged a lunch outing with some residents of the esplanade. Jeff was very accommodating with our needs. Katlyn our server was excellent. Blue has never disappointed. I took my son for Sunday brunch and it was terrific. The decor makes you feel the Christmas spirit despite the recent restrictions of our world we live in. The food is good but was much better in the past. Drinks were too expensive for the lack of taste and liquor content. I had a coconut mojito that was so thick and syrupy that couldn't drink it and returned it to the bartender. This used to be my "go to" place but now I'll rethink returning. read more

The atmosphere and vibe is very nice. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The problem would be the food. Ordered the seared pork as appetizer, it was uncooked. The pork was still cold like very raw and smacked it with some bbq sauce and cheese on top. For main course, the steak was super tough. I asked for medium but came out pretty well done. I have been here a few times and never had a bad meal. Specifically, this is an updated review for outdoor dining during COVID, which was an excellent experience! They have really done a good job to make the outdoor areas inviting and a nice place to sit. There has always been a nice water view, but they further built out the outdoor area to accommodate the number of people sitting outside, including nice plants, an upscale tent, and pretty new woodwork. On to the food and drinks, everyone in our small group had a good experience. I enjoyed my mojito and chicken parmesan. I went last night 3/14/22 with my girlfriend and we loved this place. I got chicken empanadas and she got the vegetable quesadillas. And all of the food was on point we got fried zucchini sticks as a side and it was more than enough food! The empanadas were soooo crunchy and fresh tasting. And the quesadilla was perfectly cooked. For desert we had the Nutella's wontons. A little sweet for my liking but they were without a doubt delicious and I encourage everyone to try them. We both agreed we will definitely be coming back! Hands down one of the best restaurants in Staten Island. Love the array of appetizers on the menu. It's very easy to make a great meal from the selection. One of our family friends reccomended to come here to dine from the outside it looked like a pretty small space but once you entered, you can see that there's a lot of outdoor seating. The parking lot is on the left of the restuarant and quite small for a big restaurant. Everything was clean and well orangized and the staff were quick to serve us. The deep dish pizzas were delicious as well as the two pastas we got. The chips for the guacamole was slightly too soft for my taste. The crab cake was probabaly the highlight of my lunch. Never a bad meal here!!!! Always fresh and full of flavor. This was the first place during the pandemic where I ate that I didn't feel restricted. The ambiance is wonderful, you don't feel like you are on Staten Island. Waite staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The drinks were on pointe. Started with the fried artichoke hearts with a honey goat cheese dipping sauce - it was wonderful! Then the spinach salad with fresh fruits - the garlic vinaigrette wasn't over powering but a nice balance with the sweet. The Crab stuffed shrimp over Linguine with a lobster cream sauce was surprisingly light , full of flavor but not "fishy" - the crab meat was fresh, def not imitation and the shrimps were perfectly cooked. Had to end with dessert - key lime pie was delicious, although I'm not sure if made in house. Very hot night so we ended with iced cappuccinos, even the coffee was high quality. read more

I had a Mexican coffee Hit the spot. A couple of other people had Bloody Mary's. I got to taste it. It was also good. I got the lamb burger. It was served with zucchini fries. It was good. Overpriced, with presentation that outshines the actual taste. Appetizers: Goat Cheese Wontons and Salmon Tartare. They were actually pretty good, no complaints here. Drink: Coconut Mojito. A mojito using coconut rum, but everything else traditional. This basically was a glass of cocunut rum + water. All I tasted was the rum. There were 2 lime wedges, unsqueezed, in the glass, as well as 2 mint leaves. Not a single hint of these flavors came through, one of the worst $12 drinks I've ever had. Entree: Lobster Tail stuffed with Crab Meat on top of Risotto. The tail was pretty tough, crab meat was the best part, and the risotto was bland with an off texture - not the creamy goodness of the greats. Dessert: Chocolate Mousse. Pretty light but again the texture of this was just off and not typical, and the flavor was not as rich as it should have been. Everything looked beautiful, but the actual food was mediocre, especially for the price. Visiting Staten Island, we found this great restaurant with an amazing view, and a very well selected Mediterranean cuisine Menu. We ordered a Pinot Grigio, and started with Portuguese Octopus. The delicious Pumpkin soup and the Meze made a perfect light lunch as we wanted before going to explore the SnugHarbor Botanical Garden. The service is extraordinary, and they are attentive to every single detail. Having lunch outdoors while enjoying the calming water view and spotted the water iron giants is a pleasure that has no price. I decided to hold my birthday celebration at Blue after seeing friends post about it. I can say that it was worth the trip from Queens, but I can't give it a full 5 stars. I learned that after confirming my outdoor reservation twice before the actual date that my reservation seemed to have magically disappeared from their book, but they did us a "favor" and let us have the table since another party had coincidentally cancelled. Also, since I only do outdoor dining right now I opted to sit outdoors, obviously. I was told that the outdoor seating was tented, but I didn't see any form of ventilation at all. It felt like an extension of indoor dining. When I asked the waiter about the ventilation and air flow he said that there was a curtain against the back of the restaurant with an open 3-foot invisible gap and that fresh air was circulating and flowing throughout the patio the entire time. Since it was "invisible" there was no way for me to know whether or not this is true, but I certainly do hope that it is. Having said that, the ambience and the food were very nice. The exterior and interior decor of the restaurant look like you've stepped into a Tuscan villa. The water views are a nice touch, even if the views are of cargo ships and Bayonne and industrial views across the way. The specialty cocktails were pretty and tasty, but not strong. The seafood pot was delicious, as was the key lime pie I ordered for dessert. My friends all enjoyed their meals and desserts as well. I don't visit Staten Island frequently, but it was definitely worth the trip. read more

Last couple of mess were very disappointing and I don't like writing negative reviews but I want my favorite restaurants to be better again. I feel like some of the food quality had significantly declined and you taste it. Many menu items but not all with great execution. The less was more approach was better before. Overall I don't love any of the food here anymore even though I still think it's a good place. Food was just blah and not the quality that I look forward to when coming here. Had the lobster tail and the lobster itself was definitely off . No flavor whatsoever on everything else on that plate. Appetizers were not the best as well got the Thai calamari , even the presentation was a miss on this one it looked like they slapped some calamari on a plate. Thirteen cousins gathered here for a get together. Reservation was made and seated promptly. The waiter took drink orders and actually asked for preferences ie vodka ( special brand) and tonic . That does not happen often bc usually have to specify. Each appetizer was perfect from calamari ( not heavily breaded or greasy) to Burrata to clams and lamb lollipops. Entrees were outstanding: steaks perfectly cooked served with risotto to stuffed lobster tails .... I wanna thank the entire staff for such a great evening especially holly are serving she was awesome very pleasant.
