Went to the beach and the aftermath of 1+ hour waits at the local restaurants was starting to weigh on us. We went a bit further in, and found this gem. The food quality is 10 times better than anything you'd get on the beach, and at almost half the cost. The chips were interesting, but we had a mongolian-style steak and braised beef entree. Both were amazing, and at $15 or less each, I was dumbfounded. Coconut rice, veggies, and even add a very nice, crisp salad for $2. They could do no wrong. My boyfriend and I stopped in here this past weekend after a windy day at the beach. The reviews are amazing and we were craving some fresh, healthier food for lunch. This place is like a fancier version of Panera Bread. When you walk in, there's a large menu on the wall in front of you, you place your order, pay for your food and drink, and sit down at a table and someone will bring you your food. All of the options seem to be healthy, clean, good food. I ordered the chicken lime cilantro salad and a glass of rose wine, and my boyfriend ordered a burger with potato salad and a lemonade. My salad was delicious, and my boyfriend loved his burger. Our only complaint was that there was hardly anybody dining inside (it was a beautiful day, so a lot of people were dining outside), yet most of the tables around us were dirty. So, I dine at the BSC every Saturday for breakfast with a group of people and I always get the homestyle b'fast. It has been hit and miss the last few times. For one, they cut back from 2 slices of toast to 1, which was no big deal at first. But todays breakfast was not very good tbh. Bacon and sausage were both over cooked and stale. Home fries were barely there. Over easy eggs were over hard. The only part of this dining experience that was good was the service, super fast and friendly. I appreciate that as always. read more

They have so many options of what you can do to different plates and some very healthy options. They have a good selection juices and coffee and their eco conscience. I was very impressed with this cafe and the food they serve. The food is amazing and the price is even more surprising. We decided to join them for breakfast and try out their breakfast waffle special and see the dining area. The dining room is filled with pieces of art you can purchase. I really like that dual functioning concept. You order at the register and they bring your food to your table of choice based on the number you are assigned. The food came out hot and quickly. I was shocked that the beautiful display of food in front of me was under $10. We checked out their lunch and dinner menu and it was just the same. I truly adore this place! It's one of my favorite places in Wilmington! I have been quite a few times and have yet to write a review, so here it is: While every meal time is good, breakfast is my FAVORITE meal here. Any of their waffle types are TO DIE FOR! My personal favorite is the Maple Bacon, but you can't go wrong with any of them! I went a day or so ago and got the Junior breakfast (pictured). My eggs were done perfectly, and they had a lovely flavor! Their fruit was some of the freshest fruit of any restaurant I've been to. It was almost as if they grew it themselves! I'm quite the coffee snob, but their coffee is THE best! It has a wonderful flavor, and it's always served nice and hot. They always have almond milk at their little coffee station where you can make it just how you like it. The atmosphere inside is very cozy! The decor is definitely like what you would see in an HGTV show or a Food Network magazine, and I love it! It's nice and casual too, so you order your food and you're handed a little wave table marker. You find the perfect table for yourself (or your group), and they bring it to you. IIt's a great place to meet with a lot of people, have a private one-on-one conversation, or come in and study! They staff is always friendly and ready to get you a refill or serve you in any way. Ate here yesterday because I was in the neighborhood. I had my apprehensions due to the lack of a pastry selection that you would expect at a cafe. I ordered the arugula salad instead of a breakfast item. It was very good. I don't imagine anyone orders it often as the arugula looked a smidge wilted. The dressing was amazing and had just the right amount of it. Brie cheese is my favorite and they were not ticklish with it at all! My husband had something with potatoes and he really enjoyed it too. Can't remember what it was because I barely looked up from my salad. The staff was attentive and there is ample seating. I was eyeing that dish for a while, but since my parents were accompanying me on my food adventures I decided why not have both? Thoughts: Blue Surf takes potato hash as no joke. They really pile it on there. So, if you're a potato lover, of course you'll be getting this dish. My dish wasn't too bad I enjoyed it. I thought it was tasty and it filled me up to the point where I wasn't hungry. The taste of it was what you would expect. The mixture is something similar to just a Mexican Breakfast Taco. Y'all, I don't know how I've never been to this place until this weekend! I went on Saturday to do a little work and eat some great grub and loved it so much I took Sweet Hubs back on Sunday! It is a laid back, surfer themed restaurant with a walk up and order- they bring it to your table- style system. I had a huevos rancheros that I adored at another local restaurant over a year ago. It blew my mind and I have been trying to find that same flavor at other local restaurants ever since. I hadn't been successful...UNTIL I met the huevos Castro on Saturday. Corn tortillas, sweet and tender pulled pork, black beans, sauteed green onions, cilantro, and two over easy eggs drizzled with a sweet and savory white sauce.
