I have not sampled everything on the menu, but everything I have had has been excellent! Their breakfast eggs and home fries are very good, and I have had both their Mac and cheese and the turkey Waldorf sandwich for lunch, both amazing!! The turkey was perfect, on raisin bread with sliced apple, spinach and a special mayo, really good. Their Mac and cheese comes as a little loaf with a crispy crust and it is wonderful. The ambiance is very homey and comfortable, good parking lot, and our waitress was efficient and helpful. I have always had a nice time there, and next want to try dinner. read more

We went for the fixed price 4 course Christmas Eve dinner and maybe we just should not have chosen a holiday to try this place. Some of the menu items were very good, others were cold or soggy when served, or difficult to eat because of the presentation. I wanted to be impressed, but really wasn't. We have eaten at Blue Plate often over the years, the menu is always interesting, often a nice twist on a dish. The only complaint/observation is that most restaurants include a side of fries or chips with sandwiches; Blue Plate charges for these and doesn't even out a garnish on the plate! Seated outside on Fathers Day with a sunset coming down on the patio. Lots of potential for ambiance here but little attention to details. A beautiful summer evening with moderate temp, and it appears that the western facing, triple set of gleaming white French doors have never been opened this season, as they're all covered with well-aged spider webs at the bottom. Why have French doors if you're not opening them up in summer? At least clean the cobwebs for an invitation to dine al fresco. I had the chicken cheese empanadas served on a bed of field greens with a spicy Southwest sauce. The empanadas arrived way too fast to be fresh, within 3 to 4 minutes after I ordered. Not much chicken compared to the overwhelming puff pastry, or indigenous flavor, unless all you want is the spicy sauce. The plate also was too small for a good presentation, as everything was overwhelming its small diameter, to the point that you saw only two giant empanadas and a bowl of sauce, with greens sweltering underneath. The field greens appeared pre-packaged. They had not been hydrated or well inspected as several were beginning to rot. I just don't find the food here to have much flavor, and I've dined at blue plate at least three times, trying different entrees and appetizers. My family has come to Blueplate many times, and always have a solid meal. A few years back I got the chickpea burger which I was not a fan of, as it was more on the burnt side, but everything else I have ever ordered has been good! My favorite thing on the menu is the Turkey Waldorf sandwich. I love the sweet and savory combination. In addition to the staples on the menu, I love how Blueplate creates many creative, seasonal dishes. Yesterday my dad tried a sandwich consisting of roast beef, peaches, and horseradish. At first he was not sure if he should order it, but our waitress told us a little more about it and recommended he try it. He ended up loving it! Finally, both the inside and outside of the restaurant is very cute and decorative. However, due to the small space of the main dining room, I find that it can get loud. Loved it! After living here for so long, I just went to Blue Plate for brunch. You can definitely bring champagne or Prosecco for mimosas, but we didn't know that ahead of time. I had eggs with toast since I was looking for something meat-free. My friends had lobster Benedict and traditional eggs Benedict and they loved them. I think they decided that the regular one was the more flavourful. I'd definitely go back!! What I learned is that you just line up and they take you in when they can seat you. It was a short wait even on a Sunday. You don't give your name or anything. They have a lot of seating so don't be put off if you see a lot of people outside. It's definitely worth it! read more

We always eat well when we order from Blue Plate. The quality of their food is always the best. Flavorful but not over seasoned nor over salted. Every takeout order always comes out hot which seems to be a challenge for some other establishments. The place is very nice with seasonable decorations and kind of feels more like home than just a place to go for a meal. And lastly but most importantly is the staff is is exceptional. I went here with my girlfriend on a Sunday morning. When we arrived, we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, which we were very happy about. We both ordered coffee, which was very good. For our meals, I ordered a bacon, cheese and tomato omelet, which was on their specials menu for the month, and my girlfriend ordered a pancake wrap. We both really enjoyed our food! The menu is priced very reasonably too. The only aspect I would say that can be improved upon was the service. It could have been much better. Meh. Menu looks good but execution of what is described on the menu is average. Service is "ok". Very cold today and soup was served luke warm. French fries were very greasy. The bowl I got was overcooked and lukewarm. Sandwich was nothing to write home about. When tipping on the machine, the lowest amount is 20% (very presumptuous that they believe they provide such stellar service worthy of 20%). I've been coming here for a few years and today's food was so average that I'll be looking for another "go to" place to dine. If you're looking for an average food experience, this is your place. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night around 5:30, the wait for a party of 2 was less than 10 minutes (they do not do reservations); they do practice social distancing and staff have on mask. The dishes on their menu sounded delicious, what we ate exceeded what we thought...everything was yummy. They truly take the traditional dishes and take them to the next level. We started with French Onion Soup and Bacon Wrapped Dates; both were sooo good!! Next we had a pasta dish in a yummy creamy sauce with butternut squash and we also had shrimp and lobster dish in a pesto sauce; both pastas were homemade. You can definitely taste the freshness of the pasta, not heavy at all! They also give you bread for the table, they apple cranberry bread (I think that is what it was) was so good, we asked for 2nds. We are already planning our next visit, possibly doing breakfast next time. Because of COVID requirements, I would recommend visiting on an off time, especially since they don't do reservations. Blue Plate is a great restaurant located in the heart of Mullica Hill. It is in an old building that has been fixed up and is a very pleasant place to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We usually go for breakfast and have never been disappointed with any of our meals. The pancake offerings are great and their menu is extensive with a lot of specials in addition. Today, we decided to try lunch at Blue Plate and again the menu and specials offered a lot of good choices. My wife ordered the Green Monster special which was a ribeye cheesesteak with asparagus and fried onions topped with an asparagus Holland side sauce. She said it was delicious and I second that after taking a bite. I ventured away from my norm and ordered the Lobster Thermidor burger which was a half pound burger topped with lobster bits and a brandy cream cheese sauce served on a brioche bun. The burger was cooked perfectly as I had ordered it medium rare and both the lobster bits and the sauce truly made this a delicious choice. We find that the prices are very fair for the quality of the food and you will never leave hungry. Now without a doubt we will have to experience their dinner selections. I highly recommend that you try Blue Plate and remember it is a BYOB place. Also, the Amish Market is nearby and I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the place. read more

Tried this spot in Mullica Hill. Got sat right away during prime time dinner hours, which was awesome because so many places I've gone to lately have hour long wait times. My boyfriend and I ordered the vegetable dumplings as an appetizer, which honestly tasted a little peculiar. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and homemade potato chips for my entree, which were good. One thing I do not personally like is when the server comes at the end, takes your card for payment, and stands there as you fill out how much you are tipping on the card- makes things a little uncomfortable. My husband and I stopped here before going to 'Night of Terror' haunted hayride. There is a little driveway right after the building which leads to a parking lot and the tents they have set up for outdoor seating for COVID. We decided to eat outdoors since it was a nice day. They gave us a plate of Roasted Red Peppers and some bread to start. For an appetizer, we got the Lobster Beignets which were DELICIOUS. They were small and they gave us four so I wish it was a bigger portion but they are addicting and definitely my favorite thing I ate there. For dinner, my husband ordered the Grilled Pork Chops. He said they were okay but he loved the potato and green bean sides which had some sort of sauce on them which was very tasty. I ordered the Brie and Pear sandwich which was great. It was like a unique grilled cheese with a delicious hot honey on top. The portions were a good size, just filling enough! We ended with the Quadruple Chocolate Cake which was very light (I was not expecting that!) but extremely salty. The restaurant itself is a bit cramped, and the lack of soft surfaces means it can be a bit on the noisy side even with relatively few customers, but the food is consistently good or very good, and the staff are all friendly and professional. Food: 4 / 5 - Decent food if you're looking for something a bit more upscale than pizza or a burger, tends to use inventive, local ingredients and cook them well. Drinks: 2 / 5 - This is the only serious complaint I have about Blueplate. I appreciate the desire to be a responsible small business and use local NJ wines but, well, NJ wines are almost all really bad. That's not a moral judgement, I don't think the vintners are stupid or incapable, I just think the local wineries are almost all really new and haven't worked out the kinks yet. Whatever the reason, these wines taste like the sangria I used to buy from gas stations when I was a broke 22-year-old, and the nostalgia doesn't make up for the flavor. An absolute let down *sigh*. Had high hopes for Blueplate considering the decent reviews, but what we got was subpar date night food. I'm just happy we ordered takeout! I'm not sure I'd be able to hide my disgust IRL. The wait time was 30 minutes...not only did we arrive a little beyond that time but my boyfriend ended up cozying up in the restaurant for another 30. Not a good look. For the inconvenience we were given a complimentary apple crisp...details below. I insisted we try the lobster beignets...that was a mistake. Hoping to open the box to a fluffy stuffed dough with lobster, and instead got a sad, petit ball of not lobster. We asked the waitress for her top 2 recommendations as a part of a surprise date idea we were indulging in. She suggested the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich (with fries) and the pasta with sausage and shrimp. The chicken sandwich was good just really hard to eat as a handheld as it was smothered in sauce. The pasta and sauce was ok but i will say the shrimp and sausage were delicious. That apple crisp i briefly mentioned. Not going to lie, it sorta ruined it for me for apple crisps around the nation. Not even my boyfriends homemade whipped cream could save that sad dessert. This past Saturday we decided to try out a restaurant I've been eyeing up for a while, Blueplate, in Mullica Hill. The food always looks so good, but the negative reviews of flies often drove me away. Sometimes, take out is not as good as the real experience as dining in, but in this case, I think it probably helped. We ordered breakfast on a Saturday. The wait time was about thirty minutes- not bad at all. The pickup process was easy. The outdoor appearance of the place was very cute and gave off those super cute small town feeling vibes. My husband ordered the pork roll, cheese, and egg bagel with deep fried hash browns. He said it was good. That's the best review you'll get from him I suppose. I did try his deep fried hash browns and I hated them. Not for me. I ordered eggs Benedict, of course. It was great. I'm a huge eggs benny fan. I've had my fair share of bad bennys, but this one wasn't them. The best part is both of our entrees plated well in take out containers and lasted the 20 minute car ride home and both were still very delicious! I also ordered the cinnamon strudel pancakes. This was the least impressive thing. The pancakes tasted mainly of flour with no hints of cinnamon at all and the vanilla drizzle was limited and left something to be desired.
