I was looking for a little something to tide me over this AM and found this little coffee shop. Look out Starbucks! I liked their coffee very much. They had a nice selection of juices and treats. My partner liked her Bluestone Lane Fitzroy of pineapple, grapefruit, lemon and ginger root very much. And we both loved their fabulous blueberry muffin and snarfed it all down. My only question is if they tend to be short staffed or if today was just an anomaly--the sole worker was working awful hard to fill all orders. read more

I've had my eye on Bluestone ever since I saw someone else visit the restaurant in Boston. When I learned there were also locations in DC I just had to check it out. This place is so cute on the inside and the food is amazing. I love their breakfast sandwiches and the coffee+ice cream drinks that they have. The only reason why I came to this coffee shop was because the hotel I stayed at, The Darcy, offered free coffee vouchers. The vouchers only worked for their regular drip coffee, which is fine, I just needed coffee. I am so glad I didn't have to spend any money on the coffee as it was some of the worst tasting, burnt, "coffee" I've ever had. I enjoy my coffee black, but the taste was so awful that I added sugar and cream to it. Even after all that, the coffee was still bad. I tried it again the next day and ordered an iced coffee in hopes that it'd be better..but it was just as bad. I ended up using the keurigs inside my hotel room for the rest of the week. read more

This place is not as pricey or as busy as I expected. I got the ricotta, berries and mint toast and a cold pressed juice, and both were excellent. And of course all of the menu items are super cute! This particular location is attached to the Darcy Hotel, and you have to walk through the hotel to use the restroom. There's tons of outdoor seating and a smaller space inside. read more

I am so disgusted by their complete ignorance re: environmental issues... they won't use glasses or dinnerware because of the pandemic still, what a joke - most businesses have learned to operate with it without trashing the environment via single use cups and plastic silverware / boxes for meals eaten in the cafe. They also filled my iced drink to the top with ice and I got about three big sips before it was gone. Would not come back despite the cute vibes and OK food. read more

I stopped at Bluestone Lane today for a late breakfast and on the hunt for good avocado toast and boy did I find it!! Full disclaimer: 5 star avo toast, 3 star overall experience. I was disappointed that the service was lackluster. When we ordered, we each asked for water. After the woman at the counter made that seem like a big convenience, she brought us cups of room temperature water. Not a huge issue, but after bopping all over the city in the middle of August, I wanted ice! When she returned, I kindly asked for a cup of ice. Again with an annoyed response, she returned with ice without saying anything else. My only other complaint was that it was expensive, but I recognize that's part of the city experience. At least once I was hydrated I could focus on the amazing avocado toast. I ordered the one "with the lot" and added the poached egg (which was a hefty $3 on top of already $10.50 toast) HOWEVER it was excellent. I loved the prosciutto as a unique twist and it was loaded with avocado. It was good enough to bring me back despite overall experience, so I hope that was just a fluke! read more

Ordered the avocado toast and my bread wasn't much toasted at all, way too much feta cheese, cappuccino was excellent. Staff mediocre. Served it inside of a small box impossible to eat it without tearing corners of the box to flatten it out to expose my avocado toast. Need to serve it on a plate otherwise asking customer take out??then box makes sense. read more

I would give them a four, but given the way things have been since COVID, I'm going to stick with three stars. Bluestone Lane offers fresh and varied ingredients in their breakfast bowls and other brunch foods. Definitely love how their take on healthy eating involves a focus on European/Australian meats and cheeses. I personally enjoyed the flavor of the breakfast bowl I got but one of my friends, who ordered a different, vegetarian breakfast bowl didn't feel like there was a lot to her dish. The presentation of the food was not super appealing which led me to be a bit hesitant at the start but I ended up leaving satisfied with my breakfast. Also, only outdoor seating was offered, and it was really crammed and a bit uncomfortable. I'm glad I tried this place out but I can't really say that I can see it becoming a favorite. read more

Just what I needed after an early afternoon walking around. Great service, filling smoothies!

I loved this cafe! I went on a Sunday during brunch time and got seated, but they were busy!! I love the ordering system. You order on your phone and they bing out your drinks and food really fast. The waiters were doing a great job of bringing our food, cleaning, and resetting tables for new guests. My only issue is the menu. I think they'd do a better job having more classic things on the menu? I get doing the dressy salads, grain bowls, and avocado roasts. But maybe a simple waffle, french toast, oatmeal would be cool. I got the Athletes breakfast burrito and it wasn't bad, but the chili flakes were really over powering. I just pulled it apart and ate it with knife/fork. Coffee was good though. This small and sunny coffee place is worth a visit. It's got a usual menu of small pastries with the ever present avocado toast and of course coffee in all forms. I found the latte texture perfect but the coffee was pretty light in flavor.. if you like smooth coffee flavor this is your place. I've now been a couple times to this Bluestone Lane branch, and usually had almond oatmeal and orange juice. One time, their oatmeal was only very lightly sweet, which I liked, and onther time, a bit more sweet (but nothing excessive. They have a nice outdoors space looking out on the circle, and the wifi works remarkably well. Although the cafe is attached to a hotel, it doesn't have a feel of a hotel coffee shop, and one wouldn't even know of its association if one doesn't pay attention. They have more customers who are here to socialise, and fewer who come to work with their laptops, than do other comparable cafes. My only objection is the hot chocolate: It is the usual syrup-based fare that tastes more sweet and sugary than like cocoa. That's what is keeping me from five stars. read more

If you choose to go here, expect a WAIT. My friend and I popped in for what we thought would be an easy post-workout coffee and turned into a 45 minute wait for weak drinks that were not mixed properly and cold food. I feel badly for the workers, I know they're understaffed but customers should not be expected to wait over 30 minutes for a coffee, especially one not made correctly but charges double the average coffee joint. Will not be going back to this location. read more

I've been to Bluestone all over DC and NYC and everywhere you go the service is painfully slow. This Bluestone just opened next to me so I wanted to give it another chance. They sadly displaced a locally owned business that was delicious but I think something with hotel ownership made the change. I went 30 minutes after they opened and asked for a large coffee and thee banana toast. I had to repeat my order 3x then paid. After paying they informed there was not banana toast. So then I asked for the berry toast at which point they tried to ask me for additional dollar which I think at this point they should have just subbed out my order. I won't be back. Miss the small locally owned place that was here before. read more
