I passed by here for take out and let me tell you I can't wait to dine here and try other things on the menu. I have heard of their famous iced Milo drink and I have been looking for it since I heard about it. Even if it was not available, I ordered the magic coffee and avocado toast. The magic coffee was REALLLY GOOD. If you are a coffee drinker, you will love the coffee. Avocado toast was really good and filling. Some major misery vibes from the barista who was complaining about why he serves coffee after 4pm, and from the server who rushes you and has that "I hate my life/the world owes me" type of attitude. Left a tip out of pity, but the plates and cups were rudely just dropped on the table with no regard or genuine understanding of what hospitality means. Eggs were really nothing special. 1 star because I love vegimite, and another for the other bluestone "cafes". Great experience all around! This is a great spot for breakfast, brunch, and lunch in Manhattan with a little Aussie twist. Some servers have the accent to accompany this hip, fresh Australian-style bistro with familiar favorites. Service was quick and food was delicious. Avocado Smash was (unsurprisingly) beautifully plated with a taste to match. The little details from the decor to small spoons to the glass coffee containers make the experience all that much better. I went to Bluestone Lane this morning for a coffee to go. It was a terrible experience! After ordering my coffee, the woman told me I had to wait outside until it was ready. It's 95 degrees out and I did not want to wait outside. It was also NOT crowded and there was no legitimate reason that I couldn't wait inside for my drink. As a paying customer, I should be treated with the same respect as someone dining in. A friend and I sat down at Bluestone at around 11:15am on a Saturday. We expected a wait, but to our pleasant surprise were told to sit anywhere. Great! Staff was super friendly, no complaints there. There was a couple free tables so busy but not too busy. We ordered (scrambled eggs and avocado toast) and waited 30 minutes before asking what was taking so long. Our waiter told us that as soon as table 22 got their food, we were next. Huh? I've never been to any restaurant or cafe that works like that. They prepare orders table by table? We waited another 5 minutes, but the other table still hadn't received their order so we told our waiter (who was very apologetic, very kind. Again, no complaints with the service) that we were gonna head out. I'm super disappointed to have wasted half an hour, but I certainly wasn't going to waste $20 on top of it. I went here on a Sunday afternoon but it wasn't that crowded, we were asked to wait outside for 30 mins which we wouldn't mind, but I saw 2 girls across from us, were there before us and they had been waiting longer for their to go coffees. And when we got inside, the waiter took order of the other table which arrived after us first. I'm not sure if I will ever come back here again because of the unprofessional service. I also heard multiple complaints on how long the food took from other people. My hot chocolate came out after I ate almost half of my meal. I had the vegetarian breakfast bowl with likewise hard avocado, tough stale bread, mushy kale. Neither of us ate more than half. I am not a picky eater. We waited 30 minutes for our food. Coffee was lukewarm and bland. It cost $4.75 for a teeny flat white. They charge an additional $0.75 for non-dairy milk alternatives, FYI. You must order on your phone after scanning a QR code. No problem, except the menu doesn't offer descriptions on the main page. You have to click an individual dish photo for details, then hit back to main menu, then select next item of interest. Cumbersome. You checkout when you submit your order, so you must select tip amount before being served. What?They encourage you to download and order through their app, but when my friend tried to do so it wouldn't allow credit card entry. Payment works as a "guest" in safari and without a customer login--as I ordered. Minor qualm-they use plastic cutlery. I wouldn't mind if the rest of the experience was remotely satisfactory. Nobody checked on us at any point. The staff were rushed, rattled, and not particularly pleasant, though mostly simply scarce and out of view. read more

Food: Australian brekkie-style food. I appreciate brunch spots that have a good selection of savory AND sweet options. We ordered the kale breakfast bowl and it was generously portioned and quite tasty. Drinks: I can only speak to coffee, which was outstanding. If you're familiar with Aussie coffee, you'll find everything you looking for here. From flat whites to lattes---there were even some other options I'd never heard of before. Always a great thing when great places downtown open an uptown outpost. Not a very big indoor space, but they have outdoor seating too. The host situation is a bit chaotic as it's been popular the past few weeks so the host gets attacked by vultures when they're spotted. They probably should figure out a slightly better way to get names down. Tip: Find the host, get your name down, or you'll be pushed aside by other pushy UWS-ers.
