Generally, when one orders a HOUSE SALAD, one expects leafy greens. But I got a type of cole slaw w/a vinegarette dressing instead. The chicken was meh @ best. Alchemy Craft... Thought I'd pair my lunch w/a glass of wine. Ended up getting a Grenache that was nice on its own. Ironically, it was better w/the Naan & garlic than the chicken. Two star lunch at best. read more

One thing about the draft beer selections is that they have the right ones for Blvd Market foods. The lady bartender was very kind, and she allowed us to try several samples with no hesitations. She really knows how to pour the beer. Although the seating is somewhat limited insides, we chose to be seated at the table outside with kids, and the server provided us with fans and parasols. We came here on Sat evening since we've been hearing so much about this new spot. The ambiance was cool with a DJ playing great tunes. Unfortunately there were only three eateries open and selling food, I was expecting more. We ended up having tacos, which were good but I was hoping to eat something else. I this place is perfect for spring and summer. There's a small open space outdoor seating area. Majority of the food here are Mexican food but they do have Chicken Koop and a burger place. The spot is a really nice and chill lounging area great food and music. The reason only 2 stars is because the unfortunate service provided by the cleaning crew. They are very rude and discomforting, the short older man allows himself in and out of the womens restroom and they seem to obsess over how long each person takes in the restroom. They also try to get you to hurry up and get done by cleaning next to you as your eating. This would such a great place to come hangout with friends and family if it wasn't for them. In less than two years, the concept by Barney Santos and his team has created a hub for not only the 61k residents of the Los Angeles area municipality but for people everywhere. It's also brought light to various causes; BLVD MRKT has brought in drag shows, health fairs, music showcases, and a variety of other events that gives back to the community and pushes the concept of community building. This is a big key to the success. BLVD MRKT certainly looks trendy with the shipping containers that house a few of its food offerings, the Instagrammable plating, and the omnipresent exposed brick, but while BLVD MRKT may appeal to the influencer it's the community that is catered to and centered on. The array of food choices and the quality of these options are remarkable; write ups from several publications edify the status of these choices. The Chicken Coop, Taquero Mucho (highly recommend), Vchos, La Costra, Cafe Santos, & Alchemy Craft are a few of the lunch / dinner possibilities you can enjoy while here. Given the amount of options, it's essential to come back several times. The careful selection of these selections and the variation gives everyone something they can try and experience on different levels. The drinks and food are fantastic but the best feature was/is the community; during my stay, you see a tables w/ couples enjoying drinks, a lady in a wheelchair w/ her dog enjoying lunch, a large group of folks loudly celebrating something, a couple of 40 year old guys taking pictures of their food and laughing it up talking about aliens, entrepreneurship, and drug paraphernalia... you see and hear it all at BLVD MRKT, and it shows a promise being delivered with its motto of "committed to serving up good food, good drinks, and good vibes." As neighborhoods experience a mixture of growth, development, or revitalization, it's important to underscore how these entities come into these spaces, especially in marginalized communities, and note how much they take and but how much they give, and whether they are adding value, are simply adjacent, or are supplanting the culture that already exists. BLVD MRKT is a bad ass example of having great food, great drinks, and a great vibe, but most importantly, making the community great. Went a little out of our way to try this place, and it was absolutely worth every mile, minute, and dollar! There were 8 different vendors to choose from with options ranging from tacos to cocktails, papusas, burgers, burritos, and a variety of sides. We had a few cocktails and a michelada from Alchemy Craft and they were all excellent! The tacos from La Taquero Mucho were extraordinary! We tried all five of their specialty tacos. The Chicharron, pork belly, and chicken were our favorites...but all of them were as delicious as they were unique. These tacos are "craft" style with ingredients like pomegranate or calabacitas. And the combination of these unique ingredients is done well...perfect balance of taste and texture that makes them standout in L.A.! The only downside of BLVD MRKT is that I don't live within walking distance to enjoy the Los Taquero Mucho pork belly tacos, Alchemy's craft beer, the plátano from the pupusas place, the bomb new pizza place, and comfort southern food. This marketplace is a staple in the community and my first stop when I visit my novia's family in nearby East Los Angeles. Every time I visit, there is new stuff and upgrades. I highly recommend the cafe santo and the Alchemy Craft! This is a fun and amazing place to bring friends, family, and have a nice lovely date. It's also very family friendly. A bit of a drive from the Westside -- but we decided to check it out on a recent Sunday afternoon. Lots of picnic tables outside with umbrellas but a DJ was BLASTING loud music in a small, enclosed space which didn't fit the vibe of the place -- so we moved inside (which more more like a food court). However we did find some nice food and drink. Craft beer inside at Alchemy was served fresh by friendly people. (No darks, or sours though -- heavy on the IPAs). Found a lager I liked though. Tried the Pupusas and some hot chicken from two of the stalls (both quite good). Also a burger place, pizza, and a Mexican fish joint. Not sure it's worth an hour drive but I'd come back if I was in the neighborhood. Please do something about that loud, distorted music with the broken speakers. The BLVD MRKT is wonderful and an excellent example of what can happen when a community comes together. This was a corner lot with nothing, and now it is a vibrant thriving culinary experience. There are a variety of food choices that are offered by people working hard to build their craft and add to the unique feel of this place. At this point I have tried each business here. What Alchemy Craft has on tap pretty much goes with everything and is nice to refresh yourself while waiting for an order. The pizza at La Crosta is a welcome addition. Pez is the place to go for your seafood. V-Chos has some awesome sliders and fries. The great part about this place is that each of the businesses is developing and will only get better. They are dedicated to growth. That's what makes a place like BLVD MRKT stand out. Most of the vendors are in recycled shipping containers, so with the smaller space comes longer wait times. We had a few burnt areas which weren't a big deal. One pizza was enough for my friend and I - and we're both pizza lovers. Pez Cantina's Campechana coctel was full of seafood and SO delicious. Their green sauce is really tasty. I wish I had two stomach so I could finish it all. Next time I am definitely going to pace myself better. Tons of street parking. There were some people on the streets that we were extra careful around. The inside area has plenty of picnic type tables and benches to share with others. We sat inside and had our drinks and really enjoyed our time there. One thing that would make this food market even better would be artisanal local ice cream and desserts! read more

This is such a cool set up. We got beers from local breweries at Alchemy Craft. The heart shaped mulitas with Carne asada were made with homemade tortillas, gooey cheese, and super flavorful, moist Carne asada. The champurrado was also a perfect way to end the night too. Finally a place in Montebello that has variety! BLVD, which I don't love spelling but it's fine, is a congregation of containers that each house a different business inside. They have tacos, pupusas, seafood and even a tap house (inside). The carne asada fries from the pupusas place was my favorite and I'd definitely go back for it. In fact, I'd definitely go back in general to try more things from other places. One thing I will say is that there isn't a ton of seating because they only have these larger communal tables and people always sit awkwardly so you can't really join another group. I would break those up into smaller tables, but if you linger around long enough something will usually open up. Overall a great new concept and much needed for the city. Would recommend! Always looking for great up and coming locations; such as this one in a much unexpected location. Clean, comfortable and bathrooms located conveniently are always nice. Inside you will find what seems to be 5 small restaurants and inside the glass doors " the brewery!! Right next to it, what seems to be an up and coming pizza place plus another one right across from it. Talk about eating alfresco. You're gonna love it outside, don't worry they do have umbrellas and heaters plus lots of lights. I'm pretty sure that music is a permanent feature especially on the weekends. Great place to bring small children plus your fluffy doggies. Parking might be an issue but not impossible. read more

My friend took me to Blvd Mrkt this morning for brunch hours. Overall 5 star review for experience, taste, and ambience. I'll list and comment on the items I tried below: Pork and cheese (revueltas) pupusas from Vchostruck: Very savory flavors ! The curtido and salsa were good too ! The price point is fair 2 pupusas for $8. I recommend them and I am for sure going back to try out their other menu items! Horchata flavored French toast fingers from Pez Cantina: They were okay. The price and description on the menu were incorrect. The price was listed as $15 and I was charged $17. The menu shows horchata French toast with strawberry jam, condensed milk, and mazapan. As shown in the picture I posted, there is no strawberry jam. In fact it's drenched in chocolate syrup. They're good and large portioned but for the price and no syrup or jam, it wasn't my thing. I can't speak of their other menu items but I would give them another try just not their brunch menu. Chicken and waffles from Nola Cajun: These were good. The price point is a bit steep but portion was a lot for one person so that's good. This place does not accept cash and I did not see a sign that says so, just an FYI. I would come back here and try their po boy sandwich it looks good ! As for the drinks at alchemycraft, prices are kind of steep. A small mimosa with very little champagne is $8. But the presentation is there and their beers and micheladas look good. I will be back to try a michelada ! I had a oacaxan hot chocolate w/ oat milk from cafe santo and it was yummy ! It tastes like abuelitas but well portioned with milk. My friend had a vanilla latte and she said it was pretty good ! I want to go back and try their matcha ! The music and vibes were cute.
