$395 WASTE OF TIME My daughter and I took my boyfriend out for a nice birthday dinner to BLVD and boy oh boy do I regret it. Initially when we entered the restaurant we were faintly greeted by a male host that was extremely weird. Instead of being pleasant and inviting he was very matter of fact and very short with me while checking in for our 830 reservation that we arrive 15 minutes early on. Once we were told to go to the second floor, we were taken to the second floor without even being offered coat check service, After inquiring we were finally assisted and one of the second floor hostesses assisted with taking two of the three coats of our party. We waited about 25 minutes before we were even spoken a word to by the table server. To be honest, the person never shared their name with us, but she did mention there was a sudden rush in table service from her guests and she offered an apology for taking such a long time for getting to our attention. To avoid further delay, we put our drink, appetizer and entree orders all in the same time but somehow everything was delayed. The shrimp cocktail and crab cakes were great and probably one of the better parts of the dining experience but everything else pretty much was down hill from there. My half chicken was dry and very unpleasant to taste, the server ushered the manager over in an attempt to accommodate my displeasure. Thankfully the replacement lobster tail was sufficient to meet my hunger needs. The dessert part of the meal was the most disappointing, we ordered a strawberry shortcake to go but it was brought to the table. The server scraped it into the to go container and never added the crème brûlée that we originally ordered nor was it offered to be added in to our bill to meet my daughter's request. Dark and sultry, with chandeliers and round booths to tuck away into creates that private, sexy vibe. Tons of muted silver gives off that old Hollywood, Art Deco feel. It just feels swanky and cool. Presentation was fine but our main course was bland. I ordered a bone in rib eye and my wife ordered a wagyu ribeye. Looked like they used quality meat but looks like they dont know how to season their steaks. For sides we ordered the spinach, Mac and cheese and fries. The fries and Mac and cheese was the best thing we ordered (but how do you mess that up). When the spinach came out we both literally laughed. I've had BLVD bookmarked since they opened their doors so when my team suggested it for a work dinner I was game. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous...perfect for a date night, girls night out, work dinner or really just any special occasion. We were lucky enough to be waited on by Peter who was super friendly and helpful when it came to choosing our menu items. Peter suggested sharing a bunch of items, but after a gluttonous weekend I decided I wanted to be somewhat good on this Monday night and "fly solo" as one section of the menu suggested. I opted for steak sans salt and butter, which was so tasty that I can't imagine how good it is with all the good stuff added! My colleagues began their meal with a bunch of apps and I took a few bites of the healthier options and everything was amazing (most notable being the octopus). And then it was time for dessert and all my good intentions went out the window because there's no way I can pass when looking at chocolate peanut butter chocolate cake, sticky toffee pudding and hot fudge brownie sundae. I started with a bite...and then probably ate about 1/3 of each! All were absolutely delicious, although my favorite was the peanut butter chocolate cake, but the sticky toffee pudding was also a huge hit at our table. Peter also brought the cutest mini glasses of milk to wash down dessert with...such a nice touch! Let's start with our server, Gary!!!! My husband and I dined at the BLVD for the first time for our anniversary. Gary was the most kind, warm, and knowledgeable server ever. He double checked everything for us as we did not want anything cooked in wine. My husband mentioned his interest in meats from creek stone farms and Gary knew exactly what we were talking about!!! He reassured us that it was Halal which is HUGE for us. (All my American Muslims know) The restaurant kindly replaced a meal for me that I did not enjoy (King Salmon) only due to my own pickiness with the fishy smell. The staff offered to cook it again without skin to minimize the smell for me but unfortunately I was still sensitive to the smell. I ordered a steak instead. We came to BLVD for a birthday dinner and enjoyed our experience for the most part. We walked in and the restaurant was beautiful! Once we were seated, we were offered a complimentary champagne toast. The champagne was delicious! We ordered drinks, which seemed to take a bit but we were brought out some bread and whipped chive butter which was delicious! Once we received our drinks we ordered some apps - a couple Caesar salads and oysters. These also took a while to come out, but the bread and the fancy Cheetos did hold us over until then. The salad was delicious! I heard good things about the oysters as well. We ordered our meals - half chicken, and steaks, plus mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and creamed spinach on the side. The food took a hot second to come out, multiple tables that arrived after us were served much quicker. Food finally arrived and it was delicious! The Mac and Cheese was phenomenal and the chicken was solid. Staff came around to ask us if we wanted our leftover food boxed, and we said yes. They brought out cheap cardboard boxes that don't stay shut for heavy leftovers. Typically at steakhouses you get much better packaging for leftovers and they typically box it for you. At this point, we hadn't seen our server in forever. We sat around for a while before she came around and asked us if we wanted dessert or additional drinks. We ordered drinks and coffee, and were told that a birthday treat was being brought out. The coffee took a solid 30 minutes to show up. During this time we tried to track down our server to close out our tab, and cancel the coffees. She never came around and we had to ask someone else to track her down and bring the check as we were now running late to a post dinner drinks reservation, our coffee finally came. When she finally brought our check, we had the cards ready to go and she immediately ran off instead of waiting the two seconds for us to hand them to her. We waited a while again. The birthday treat was a mini waffle with salted caramel which was delicious. Overall, dinner took us three hours and the restaurant wasn't super busy. We found ourselves waiting a solid 45 min - hour for our waitress or coffee after we had finished eating. The food was pretty solid, the decor was beautiful, the service was just okay. Maybe it was an off night, but for a ~$600 tab, we'd expect a bit better. read more

Came in for restaurant week with my friends but upon further inspection we decided to order off the regular menu the RW menu was not impressive and did not seem to be worth the $44/pp food: Tuna- the tuna itself was super fresh but the pairings and additional oil did not do it for ne vine ripe tomato on toast- delish octopus-good cacio e pepe pasta- not bad crispy skin duck breast- good Service: SO SLOW!!!!! I had an iced tea and I literally had to find people to ask for more ( and typically not from our actaul waiter). To be honest I literally wanted to be like bring me a pitcher and leave it, this isn't a cocktail people!!! I was pretty excited to try this place out but I was not impressed at all. I am glad we ordered off the regular menu and did not go with the restaurant week selection, but for a Monday night dinner I thought it felt short. I am actually quite upset and disappointed by my dining experience at BLVD to celebrate Valentine's Day. I would have given only 1 star if not for the beautiful space / decor and the good service which warrant another star. To start off with, we were seated at undoubtedly the WORST table in the restaurant which is a high top table facing the bar, instead of at one of the booths or standard tables upstairs, despite having made this reservation exactly 1 month ago when the availabilities were wide open and actually having made a note in the reservation to be seated at a round booth - meaning that I believe they could have accommodated my request. Fine, it's a popular restaurant on a popular day, I get it. However, because it is a beautiful space with a massive chandelier, I feel that this restaurant often attracts - what I will call for lack of the better word - the "instagram" crowd. Twice during the evening, some guests walked up to the spiral staircase to pose in front of the chandelier and used flash photography for a continuous 5+ minutes. Because my table was facing the chandelier, it meant that I had the joy of experiencing bright flash continuously blinding my eyes while I ate. That was extremely unpleasant but seems to be allowed by the restaurant. Not cool. Food. We had oysters, the lobster bisque, steak frites, and corn & crab side dish. Oysters were the best thing I ate. The lobster bisque was a little salty but otherwise fine - nothing to write home about. The steak frites was an expensive disappointment. I asked for it to be cooked medium, and got something that was somewhere between 90% to 100% well done (see picture). Fries actually tasted like something I could get at a fast food chain, but the mayo they served was good so I had half of it. The corn & crab was actually good, but I wouldn't pay $18 for it again. We also ordered 1 glass of wine each which was fine. Our bill came at ~$250. Did not know that they would add a 4% surcharge on top of an automatic 18% service charge. I guess I would have tipped about the same because service staff deserves this, but I do not appreciate not being informed in my reservation or anywhere else about these charges - I would have liked the optionality. There are plenty of good restaurants in the West Loop area that I could choose. Will not come back again - and I suggest that you do not bother spending your money here. read more

That being said, what I did have was good, but wasn't terribly exciting. Sides were kinda on the rich side. The potatoes I had on the side had a layer of oil around the ring of the little pot it was served in- so not ideal. I have a feeling we would've had a much better meal if we had more choices. The interior is very sexy - it's dark, sleek, with impressive chandeliers & winding central staircase...very Great Gatsby-esque. I only tried the Pilsen Paloma and I found it excellent. I came here with my husband Saturday night and we are so glad we remembered to make reservations earlier that week. We made reservations I think on Wednesday or Thursday night and the latest dinner reservation available was at 5:45pm so we snagged it. They book up quick for Saturdays! I loved the restaurant decor from the moment we walked in. It had a Hollywood glam "golden era" vibe throughout the entire restaurant and I was here for it. The bathroom was gorgeous also and definitely brought me back that era. The grand chandelier and chandeliers were stunning and I loved the curved booths. We didn't get a booth but our spot was perfect for the two of us. We also thought the coat check right at the front door was a great touch. Our server welcomed us and got us familiar with their recommended wine selections and a bit about them. He was very kind for our entire experience. My husband and I both love bourbon though so we went with the "BLVDier." It's made with Elijah Craig Bourbon, Peychaud's Aperitivo, Sweet Vermouth, St. George Nola Coffee Liqueur. The coffee liqueur finish was AMAZING. I've never had anything like that and I would return just for this cocktail. Fair price also at $16. APP: We started with the grilled bread and bone marrow butter. Amazing. I didn't know butter could taste this good but it was salty and creamy and light all in one. MAIN: I got the 8 oz filet mignon with the bordelaise sauce. This piece of meat was mouthwatering. I asked for a medium cook but it came out a little more on the medium/rare side. It didn't bother me enough to send it back but would have preferred a medium cook throughout. The filet was served with roasted garlic whole cloves and pickled veggies which were incredible compliments. The roasted garlic clove literally melted across the entire filet perfectly. SIDES: My husband and I shared a few sides because we couldn't decide. We chose the grilled corn and crab which was a corn pudding with onions and topped with cotija cheese. Aside from the cocktail, this had to be our favorite dish. We never had anything like it and the creaminess of the corn pudding with the slightly salty crab and crunch of the corn was unreal. We also got the brussels sprouts that were served with a red pepper coulis. The crispy outside layer was there and they were cooked well but they didn't WOW us like the corn. DESSERT: We finished with the chocolate peanut butter cake with reese's crumbles. It underdelivered and we were bummed it looked like heaven! The chocolate drizzle and peanut frosting were amazing but the cake was a bit dry. Maybe it was just an unlucky piece. All in all we really enjoyed our experience here. They had two wine specials that our waitress offered, but when she came back to announce that they had actually ran out, she recommended a different variety, and comped us for the glass. I thought that was the right thing to do, and that's really where BLVD earned its 5th star. The taste: I'd go back because there are SO many things on the menu I'd like to taste. We shared the steak tartare, the escargot, the bread and bone marrow butter, the cacio e pepe and the rainbow trout. And the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. YES YES YES. We didn't eat all the bread, but I inhaled the snails. The aioli mixed into the tartare was an unexpected but thoughtful addition. My face: A smile stuffed with all the goodness. All the carbs. He got 2 glasses of wine I think.... I got a champagne cocktail - $166 I believe before tip. Goodness where do I begin. We had reservations for 7:00pm on 6/22/2023. When we arrived we were seated promptly and everyone loved the ambience and the decor (party of five by the way). When our server Maggie arrived she was the most unenthusiastic server I've seen in a while. She rushed the process and was borderline rude, so naturally she took away from the experience. When ordering the appetizers she insisted on taking our whole food ordered, yet we insisted we wanted to enjoy our appetizers and drinks first and THEN we will order our food. Speaking of drinks my sister in law attempted to order the champagne cocktail which contained vodka-she asked could she have hers mixed with Belvedere vodka-dear Maggie goes on to tell her "no the mix is premade"....what? What is this a TGIF resturant, how is the champagne cocktail premixed? Anyway our appetizers arrive, wedge salad was decent, my shrimp cocktail tasted as if they had one more day before spoiling and the WERE NOT DEVEINED! Gross!!! So onward to the meal, one of my sister in laws wanted a filet mignon cooked well done...dear Maggie goes on to tell her I wouldn't recommend that past medium rare-excuse me-give the people what they want-there is an art to cooking a well done steak-just say your chef doesn't know how! When she receives her steak it's is damn near rare! My bone in filet was okay, it was cooked to perfection but it was a cheap cut of meat! You can just taste the cheapness-you know that overly tender kinda thing...I could've gotten a better steak at Whole Foods! Now the incident to totally turned us off, they sent my mother a spoiled ribeye...yes people! This was the last straw! I don't know how this place is still open! Spoiled steak! None of our steaks were hot, lukewarm. The sides consisted of instant mashed potatoes, you know thick and pasty with no flavor. My twice baked potato had waaay to much salt and tasted processed, I suspect it might have been frozen. This was an absolute horrible experience and I urge people to pass on this one unless you don't know any better and want to pay five star prices for Aldi's tasting food! I recommend trying other places such at Maple and Ash, Gibsons or Bavette's. This had to be the worst steakhouse experience I ever had in my entire life! $899 down the drain. And our serve got an automatic $130 tip-she was worth no more than $40-attitude stunk to high hell. I will never, ever set foot in this rip off again. I don't know if these people need a new chef or are cutting corners to steal money serving this awful food...you can serve this crap to the young people that dine there and don't know any better but don't you dare serve this garbage to my family, a family of chefs, foodies and quality food eaters! My sister in laws 85 dollar left over steaks are being used for cat food and my left overs are currently in the trash! Never have I ever thrown an 85 dollar steak in the trash. Service and ambiance are great. Food is not. We had risotto, veal and oysters and tuna crudo for apps. Unfortunately, only the oysters were good - they were great actually, east coast. The other dishes were thrown together and sloppy. Tuna was buried in mayonaisse, risotto had a pound of butter dumped in it for flavor, and the veal was dry like cardboard. Actually sent the veal back (it was $67) and got it replaced with the lamb shank, which was done right but lacked flavor. Disappointing as it seems like the food quality changed compared to earlier this summer when we had a much better experience. Hope they turn it around! read more

The food came out steaming hot and pretty fast. This is such a beautiful place to visit for a date night or anniversary celebration. The intimate setting will have you and your date head over heels. There are so many photo ops believe it or not in BLVD Steakhouse such as, huge wrap around steps and a gorgeous chandelier. You are sure to sing the song chandelier when dining. I love this place and will do it over and over again when visiting Chicago. Sometimes we have to splurge a little, it is worth it. Oh and the Lamb chops were AMAZING!!! read more

Went here recently with a bunch of friends and I would say this is one of the highest ranking steaks for dry aged currently for me in the city. I got the dry aged ribeye, it was excellent. I do agree with some of the other reviews commenting it's a little fatty, but it's a solid ribeye and tastes delicious. My friend got a new York strip and his was excellent as well, all steaks were perfectly cooked. The place does feel a little pretentious, but for the $$$ your spending it's a nice place to be. The drinks were solid, but expect to spend money. Anyways I was here for steak, and it met all my expectations. I don't believe in adding any sauces or accompaniments on top of the steak, and if you get a dry aged steak it'll have plenty of flavor. read more

My expectations weren't the highest prior to my visit but it definitely solidified my opinion. To begin the dining room is gorgeous & the booths have their own individual chandeliers. That's about where the compliments end. Our appetizer the "shrimp cocktail which was more akin to a shrimp salad was ok but the shrimp served with it needed cleaning. The truffles served with my pasta had literally no flavor & my cacio de Pepe" was so salty that it was almost inedible. In my servers defense he offered to replace the entire dish however I would've been happy if he simply took it off the bill entirely. My wife's scallop dish was ok but the scallops could've benefitted from some seasoning & more time to cook. Lastly our side dish, the grilled corn & crab was yet another snoozer to already underwhelming & expensive dinner. Not worth it imho! read more
