Wow. A gem of a find. I can't say enough about how good the halibut fish and chips are! My husband ordered the halibut sando with the spicy sauce and it was beautiful. The fish was so fresh and flaky. The place is so clean and the staff super friendly and kind. We only waited maybe ten mins. So happy to find this place after a four day kayak trip on the bay. This was the first time we ate at the Boathouse Cafe. Our usual choice on the Spit is Captain Pattie's, which is ok, but the Boathouse Cafe is THE BOMB!!!! The food is AMAZING!!! Fish is so flaky and delicious!!! Sandwiches are Alaskan size, and they are not at all skimpy on the fries!!! Atmosphere is sooooo comfortable. Not fancy, far enough away from the spit to be quiet and relaxing!! We will return to this place!!! Prices are reasonable too!! That is a plus!!! Our "go to" when visiting Homer!! read more

Four of us ate here last week while we spent time in Homer. I really enjoyed my veggie sandwich and the others all had a different kind of burger that they raved about. The fries and onion rings are good. I tried the fried mushrooms and fried zucchini, but those were not my favorites (probably too much fried food for me in one sitting). We should have gone back to eat here for another meal instead of trying some other restaurants in town for similar type foods. read more

Their food is "out of bounds" good. I think about their food a lot when I'm not in Homer and find myself comparing chicken sandwiches to their "yard bird sandwich". No surprise the yard bird stands above them all. Also all the sauces they make are just delicious. It is clear they have a passion for good food. Best cook around town! Locals come here for the best double patty burger. I hear the hashbrown/biscuits and gravy are a favorite as well amount the locals. Not on the spit so away from the main strip but well worth the 5 minute drive! 6 large chunks of halibut fish and chips with crinkle fries! Prices similar around town. Get the Boatyard Burger. It's an old-school fatburger with cheese, bacon, and shrooms. Soooo good. Best burger in town. Ok, there are a few other things worth mentioning, but you know you want that burger. How about a side of chili cheese fries? Good milkshakes too. They do fish and chips fried-or grilled. Try it grilled, it's pretty darn good. If you don't know where this is, you probably don't live in Homer. It's out of town about five miles, and located in the Northern Enterprises Boat Yard. It's a small place, and the bathrooms are a hoof across the boat yard in another industrial building. You order typical breakfast and lunch fare at a window, and they call out your name when it's ready. I had the sausage patties and eggs. I liked the fact that the patties were hand-formed. Other than that, just average, and a buck or two higher in price than my favorite breakfast in Homer. I knocked this place down a little because the wood stove that is used for heat, was not started on the morning I was there until halfway through my meal. It was pretty cold. read more

This is a perfect place to go for a burger when you have a raging hangover and need a good dose of good old fashioned burgers. The owner has got to be one of the sweetest women around and she puts her heart into everything that comes out of her kitchen. The crinkle fries on the side of my juicy bacon cheeseburger just make everything all better. It is a bit chilly in the winter. It's a great place to go on your day off, but it's a little tucked away to get away to on a lunch break. If you're a tourist, it's a nice little drive and cool to eat in the middle of the boatyard.
