The best that can be said about this iconic diner is that it serves food. If you are starving it will nourish you. If you are hungry at 3am you can get food here. I ordered coffee and French toast. I got a cup of coffee and two pieces of French toast...and a bill for $13.07! I expected at least four pieces and maybe a little bacon...I think that's how IHOP does it. When I complained to the diner, Alex, Marketing Director, tried to blame it on the cost of food under Bidenomics. The only thing dumber than that explanation is that I went ahead and paid the bill. This place gets a 4 because it does everything you would expect. It's clean, it has parking, the wifi works, the staff is nice. The food is as fresh as it can be coming out of a can or a box, and priced very reasonably. For $11 plus tax and tip you can have meat loaf with two rolls and two sides. Sure a microwaved meatloaf dinner for half that price would be exactly the same. Sure you could make better mashed potatoes, green beans, or meatloaf at home. But for speedy, decent, cheap food in a clean environment with a friendly staff and good wifi, it is hard to beat Bob and Edith's read more

Food and service are generally very good here, but there are a few things that should be improved upon by the owners. - The coffee is fairly weak, watery and tasteless. It has gotten worse over the past 6 months or so. - The decaf coffee is bitter, has an odd burnt odor and is almost undrinkable - The eggs & country ham is now served with a very thin slice of low quality ham. It is too dry and VERY, VERY salty. The ham they used previously-- and use at their Columbia Pike location -- was much thicker, and much less salty. We could not eat the ham as it was so salty. - The eggs & corned beef hash comes with a small portion of corned beef. The portions are larger at their Columbia Pike location yet prices are the same at both locations. You get less for your money at the Lee Highway location, and the hash tends to be dry from overheating. read more

We just enjoyed our first brunch at Bob and Edith's and hope to be back for many more. The new diner is immaculate, with pleasant prompt service and delicious food. We enjoyed burgers, cheesesteak, pancakes, eggs, and corned beef hash. Everything was cooked to order and very tasty. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with home fries and scrapple. I asked for my omelet to be fried hard and instead, I got a gooey mess on the inside. It wasn't cooked on the inside and looked disgusting. I normally get home fries and scrapple only so I guess that's what I'll have to stick with. I did take it back but I'm pissed that I asked for the omelet to be fried hard so I didn't want anything else. They could've offered a refund for the omelet portion but nope! read more

We have been going to the Columbia Pike BnE's for the last 40 years and have always checked out the new locations when they open. We now are regulars at the 23rd Street location. It's a part of our weekend tradition. Today, we checked out the new location on Lee Hwy. The menu and the restaurant design are all traditional Bob and Edith's - blue and white tiles everywhere and the same style Columbia Pike booths but just a hair bit roomier for us big boys and the food - right off the griddle is tastier than ever. Today, they had a bit of a under staffing problem but that's ok. We waiting a few more minutes to be served but but the Diet Coke kept flowing. Anyway, great job Tammy, Chris and Mom & Dad. I would give 0 stars if I could. The diner was not busy when we arrived. The waiter took our order. We waited 25 minutes when the kitchen started ringing the pick-up bell. We waited 10 more minutes while our plates sitting there.the entire staff, including the manager, were looking over at our table. When the food finally came, my son's order French toast, an omelet with hash browns were all cold. Everything was cold. Except for my macaroni salad, which was now warm..so gross. I wish I could recommend eating at this cafe because it's location is convenient, but I can't. The food is awful. It reminds me of cafe food in the 1960s. The quality is poor, and the cooking is Just as bad. I had steak and eggs today. The gravy was decent, but everything else was bland and uninspiring. Above all, don't order the pie! I'd just as soon eat a Qtip. I had been craving pumpkin pie for several days. The piece I got was shockingly bad. It was quite small (which turned out to be a blessing) and the pie had a thin coat of dark brown "refrigerator burn" on top. The crust was tasteless and tough. Service was satisfactory, which was good because it allowed me to exit quickly. My advice? Find somewhere else to eat. That's what I intend to do. read more

Food is overpriced for the quality they serve, meat,cheese, bread etc . 1 blueberry pancake $3.69 taste and consistency of rubber. Home fries a bunch of plain potato chunks some burnt others raw bland and tasteless. There were about 6 waitresses and maybe 3 customers in the place, but the waitstaff just stood around in a group and talked to each other. The eggs and hash brown were reliably wonderful, but the country ham they served was extremely salty. I asked for regular ham Instead & they immediately replaced it. My first impression of this place after walking in was a waitress pointing towards my girlfriend and I and stating that she would not be "talking to them". I have no clue what her problem was but that is certainly no way to speak to a customer, and being pointed at from across the restaurant is quite rude. The food was okay, but expensive for what you get. Fried chicken was nice and crispy! I got fries with chili and cheese, each was .99 cents extra and neither were worth it. The fries aren't good, the cheese is American singles, and the chili isn't that great. Overall, I can say that I would not recommend this place and won't be returning. read more

I love giving positive reviews and it is unfortunate to give this two-star rating due to the service or lack thereof. We researched the area to have a Sunday brunch with family and we chose here. Our first visit here and maybe the last. Our visit started with the atmosphere being clean and inviting. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately by a young lady. It may have just been a bad day for our server, but very disappointing for us customers. He was not nice... no greeting, no smile, "I don't know" answers to our questions about the menu items. We asked for water 3 times that he forgot to bring initially and no apologies once he finally did bring water. We were continuously asking for items, i.e. utensils, creamer and a side item we ordered that we never received. We prayed for him to improve his hospitality once he returned. Possibly, it was his first day as we were placing our drink order first (coffee & water) but he wanted our food order first and walked off as we were telling him. The service just got worse from there. Everyone received their order (minus their toast) and I was missing my waffle. He brought it along with a plate of toast, which were not warm as the mound of butter on the waffle & toast was not melted. After he brought our order, he refilled our coffee once and we never saw him again until he placed the check on the table about 20 minutes later. Some people are just not meant for customer service and that is fine. So please management staff... train this server or change his position that is not working directly with the customer. Bad service impacts your business and affects the food, as we lost our appetites and could not enjoy our meals. It is unfortunate, but we wish him well and pray that he can find the right fit in your business. read more
