    THE MINI-SAMPLER

Bob evans. Need I say any more? Ok, I will. I was just going on my morning jog with my non-biological brother, Teoh, and we stumbled upon this farm-like infrastructure. We sat down, and the ambiance was peaceful but not boring. Slowly, somehow, our friends started to stop by, one by one, one by one. We all ordered mini-sampler and it was phenomenal. Our waitress, Pamela, was also fantastic. Bless Bob Evans.

I ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. I asked for gravy for the chicken fried steak. Without it, chicken fried steak is dry. Well, mine came with no gravy. And I am not happy about it.

Piggy pancakes from the kids menu. They were a hit with our 4-yr-old! She went hog-wild when she saw them!

In light of some recent reviews that I see posted, I feel compelled to stick up for one of my "go-to" places. When I am looking for a consistently good, fairly priced breakfast, I don't hesitate to pick Bob Evans. They can even accommodate tables larger than 4, something other restaurants don't seem able to do very easily. I've never had bad service at this location and I've dined as a party of one, two and 6 (our family is growing) on more than one occasion. They have plenty of menu options so no matter your tastes or appetite, you should be able to easily find something that will satisfy. On our last visit, we had pancakes, mac 'n cheese, omelets, french toast, turkey sandwich and no complaints. Seating has always been quick. And, bonus: nice people eat here. On my first visit, I had breakfast on a Mother's Day. Surprisingly, I found myself alone first thing in the morning so I hit up Bob Evans as a treat to myself. I ended up seated next to another "single" mom at the counter and we joked about being abandoned on our special day. But for me it turned out to be special indeed because when I got ready to pay, my server told me the other mom, who had just left, had picked up my check! That meant I could spend my money on a loaf of banana bread to take home! Which I did and which I highly recommend everyone do as well. It is better than home-baked.

Cold burger on a dried cardboard-like bun with bland somewhat warm fries...but the coleslaw and Coke was ok.

From the gardens to the land with a creek flowing though it -- to the beautiful building and pleasing decor inside and a porch with tables around much of it. So impressed. The menu, our server explained, is changed out quarterly and this is the new summer one. So many unique small and large plates (but when he described them, they were way more intricate and enticing than the menu even showed). He was attentive and helped guide our choices. We ordered the eggplant small plate to share, then the mushroom pizza (so much tastier than the description would indicate), and the wild boar brat with cherry and peach accents. Everything was delicious. I also got an iced latte with the house made mocha and it was better than alcohol, if you're a coffee lover anyway. 100% plan to come back! And likely soon. This is up there with how I feel about Sylvan Table, which is a huge compliment to Dixboro Project!

This Sunday, my mom invited myself and my siblings to join her for brunch. The ambience was amazing - with lovely natural lighting and gorgeous table settings. The menu makes every dish seem mouthwatering and delicious. When the plates came out, they were gorgeous and the food looked so inviting. Unfortunately, the taste was completely lacking. If you're going to charge the prices they're charging, the flavor should be amazing in every single bite. We sampled four different dishes, and none blew me away. Some, were even borderline "bad." Here's a rundown: mushroom pizza - the description makes it seem like it will be cheesy and full of flavor, but it was very one note duck confit pizza - had three pieces of duck on it and was otherwise covered in hot peppers lemon blueberry pancake - more of a skillet cake - sauce was the best part, otherwise dry on the bottom Raclette burger - $30 which is almost comparable in price to a burger I had at The Four Seasons in Maui. That burger, was worth every penny. This one had absolutely no flavor. The meat tasted like mush - definitely lacked seasoning, and there was not a speck of cheese to be found. If you're going to call a burger a raclette, it should be oozing with cheese. grilled Romaine salad - leaves were bitter and the dressing again, looked delicious, but had no flavor. The flavors did not compliment each other at all - with the pickled grapes, taking away from the dish and contrasting very starkly against the rotten tasting lettuce Brown sugar oat milk latte - really the only thing that delivered both on looks and on flavor. Sadly, not high on my list of places to return. It kind of made me think of Vegas: lots of pomp and glam which momentarily distracts you into thinking you're having the best time of your life. But in retrospect, not very fulfilling.

My first visit was for brunch, and it completely won me over. The buffet had a wonderful variety of food, the mimosas and cocktails were delicious, and for the quality, variety, and service you get, the price point is very fair. I left thoroughly impressed. I came back for lunch excited to experience it again, and while the staff was just as warm and the environment just as great, however, this time the lunch menu didn't quite live up to my expectations. They offer salads, sandwiches, mac and cheese and similar American-style comfort food, which is totally fine, but for a restaurant of this caliber I was hoping for something a little more exciting. I ended up ordering a salad with added shrimp, which was absolutely delicious, and a pomegranate rosemary lemonade that was incredibly refreshing - perfect for a summer day-. But if you're not in the mood for sandwiches, salads, or mac and cheese, your options are pretty limited. My suggestion: keep doing everything you're doing because the hospitality and atmosphere are truly special, but consider expanding the lunch and dinner menu for those looking for a heartier or more diverse meal.

Service was excellent and attentive! I enjoyed the bread service, roadhouse simple salad, French fries, chicken basket with cole slaw and mashed potatoes, and a strawberry specialty cocktail. The breading on the fried chicken was perfection, and the bread AS ALWAYS was delicious. The mashed potatoes and gravy were probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Absolutely holiday home style with great texture. Downsides: too many assorted flying insects on the patio, the pimiento cheese was nearly flavorless, fries were underdone for my liking, and pricing too high and portions too small for the chicken basket.

They serve Coke products but have a Wisconsin root beer on draft and it's amazing! I highly recommend! My husband and I shared the roadhouse platter combo and the fried chicken mac and cheese. Both were great! Their mac and cheese is known around the world and the country and has been featured on the food network. The menu warns that the pepper from the chicken gives it a little kick and it definitely does. The star of the show though was the bread pudding. O.M.G. I cannot express how amazing it was! So warm and flavorful. We paired it with the vanilla gelato which was packed full of vanilla bean flavor. If they have it when you go, GET IT! You will not be disappointed!
