The service here is five stars. But we all know that no matter how good the service doesn't always equate to overall five stars. The confusion starts in the parking lot. It is a shared lot with other eateries nearby. Not everyone seems to understand they aren't the only ones in the parking lot Inside I was greeted quickly and taken to a seat. Once in the booth I was greeted by my server. I didn't even have a minute to glance at the menu and she was there. She was extremely kind and busy the whole time there. I gave her my drink order and went back to glancing over the menu. When she returned with my drink it was time to order. Before I could even get my order out I was asked if I wanted any appetizers. I did not, the spread of appetizers were not appealing to me. I ordered the Rise & Shine Burger. You can get this with one or two sides. I went with two sides, fries and for a small upcharge, a side salad. I say this with as little malice as I can, but I have never had a more disappointing meal. Starting with the side salad. There were many bits that were wilted or brown, the pieces that weren't near the butt of the lettuce. The tomatoes looked as if they were left out and uncovered. Nothing felt over the top for this salad. Then the burger showed up. From the looks of the picture I though I was going to get something amazing, but looks can be deceiving. They describe it as their "legendary" breakfast burger. Angus beef being topped with 'crispy' hash browns, American cheese, hardwood-smoked bacon, and a farm fresh fried egg. Then if you look at the picture it echoes what was mentioned. Looked like the crispiest hash browns and an egg that would ooze yolk. Welp, with one bite into this burger after it arrived all hopes that it was going to be delicious were dashed. The hash browns were mushy and fiery hot. The egg, it was fried so hard that the yolk was solid. There was no drippage. The bacon, kind of chewy and the side of spicy maple honey, I didn't even touch that, it looked like it turned. Not even to mention that the burger patty itself was not seasoned. The fries, I had a mixture of differently cooked fries. There were some that were perfectly fried, there were some that were under, then there were some that were fried to a blackened state. The best thing about this meal was the sweet tea. We all ordered burgers and fries I personally asked for my burger to be towards the burnt side because frankly that's how I like it. My burger was more of a medium well on the edge and pretty medium is the middle. GROSS! One of my sisters burger was vey raw in the middle she literally scraped raw meat between the seared outside. Asked to return it. Manager (young guy) came over we showed them. He asked if he could remake it I declined and said no thank you. Same with my sister. He proceeded to walk away. And I stopped him and said well I'd at least like something else please. So I made it easy we both o deed soup. How can you mess up soup? Well you pour it into a bowl still cold and serve it. Let me tell you cold potato soup is horrible. The older female manager came over and apologized. Took the 2 burgers and soup off check as none of it was eaten. Did I mention that we never saw our server again???? There were 3 tables! We then heard the server had to leave to go pick her child up from the bus stop. So here we sit. No refills or even an offer of a refill of drinks. Although my other sister and niece ate their burgers (which were still pink but not raw was ok with it and ate them. We paid for the food that was eaten and our drinks however as a previous manager at a restaurant I would have surely apologized to my customers and took care of the whole bill and asked them to please come back and try again. So this restaurant's been my go-to for several years however yesterday once again, I was severely let down. Here was my problem. The order was delivered in a timely manner but was incorrect I requested toast instead of biscuits and gravy; but I still wanted the gravy. I asked for hash browns and received them undercooked greasy. When I brought it up the gravy was not brought out the wait staff replied it wasn't part of the order, I then asked her to add it as a side (it was part of the homestead breakfast) The gravy that was brought out had all the old congealed fat scaped from the pot intermixed, it was very grotesque. read more

I don't know why anyone gave this place good reviews. We were the only customers in the place Thursday night the whole time we were there. Now we know why. We came in a little after 7 and asked the guy who seated us why it was empty, and he said it was always slow at that time. We ordered our food, Turkey dinner and country fried steak with the $4.99 special with salads, rolls, and apple pie al a mode for me and pumpkin pie for my wife. The waitress brought out ALL of the food at the same time...meals, salads, and pies with ice cream and no rolls. I looked at her and before I could say anything about why she brought out everything she walked away. After vanishing she did not come back for over 30 minutes. We had to eat our hot meals first, so they didn't get cold. My wife's turkey dinner was a giant pile of stuffing and two skinny slices of deli quality turkey, way over cooked mushy carrots, maybe three tablespoons of potatoes and a tiny bit of gravy. My chicken fried steak was fine, but again small potatoes and tiny bit of gravy. Nice portion of green beans though. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of my meal. By the time we ate our warm food our salads were no longer cold, and my ice cream melted all over the pie and her whipped cream was warm. The pies were almost ice cold in the middle even after being on the table that long, and the apple pie was like it was never cooked. The waitress didn't come back at all to check on us so we could tell her the issues and when she finally showed up and asked if we were done, she never asked us how our food was, no asking if we wanted refills. We said we had no refills since we arrived, and could she bring those and a box for my wife's warm salad, and told her we didn't get our rolls. She brought us a box of rolls to take home, but no refills on our drinks, no box for the salad, no lid for the dressing, and no check. I got up and went to a young guy behind the counter playing on his phone and asked him for a dressing lid, salad box, and I sat down, and we waited for the check that never arrived. Again, she never came back so we got up and went to the register and the guy on his phone (again) asked us for the check. I said I didn't have one because she never came back to the table with anything. He printed it out and told us the total, but he folded up the check and crumbled it and was putting it in his pocket. I asked if that was my check and he said yes. I asked if I could look at it and he said "Uh, sure". She charged us each $1.00 extra for the pies that were supposed to be included in the $4.99 special and then .99 cents for the pie that was supposed to be included on the pie ala mode, otherwise it's not pie ala mode. My son is in the Navy and stationed at Pax River. We were visiting a few weeks ago and decided to try it because we have never been. We live in CA. My husband ordered a steak and shrimp dinner. I ordered steak and my son got the turkey dinner. When we got our food we were so shocked to see that my husband only got 3 very dry almost burnt fried shrimp! Total rip off!! How can a restaurant serve only 3 shrimp?? And we both got tiny steaks. The waitress was nice. But she kept forgetting to get stuff we had asked for. And forgot the biscuits. I haven't eaten at a bob evans in over a decade because I've never had a great experience, but I decided so much time had passed I'd give it another shot for breakfast. The pros, we were sat quickly, our waitress was friendly and attentive and our food and drinks came out quickly. The cons, I ordered a made to order omelette and paid extra to get all the veggies. The made two order omelette comes with 2 toppings, additional are .50 each. My omelette barely had any veggies. Also, the omelette was very oily. It literally had a puddle of oil around it. The home fries were the only decent part of the meal. Also, at one point the staff started bickering over seating tables which was a little awkward. I'm not sure if I'd return. We entered the establishment and was seated quickly by a friendly staff member. Our friendly waitress took our order quickly but after that is where the disappointment started. I ordered the "Everything breakfast" and when it came to the table it was not to the temperature I thought it should of been. It was pretty much cold. I tried to revive the meal with hot sauce but it was a loss and I didn't finish it. Sometimes I read reviews and ignore them,, maybe I shouldn't do that anymore. Let me start by saying that I have eaten at Bob Evans in a number of places. I usually eat local but sometimes you know what you want and chains usually have consistency. This Bob Evans was the exception. The service was so bad it almost felt as if we were being pranked. I believe the server was out of it. First we ordered coffee which came after about 15 minutes. When she sat down the coffee she asked if we needed cream. We said yes and we wanted sweetener. (Our table didn't have the cube with packets like other tables had.) She didn't come back for another ten minutes and brought the cream but no sweetener. We asked about it and she said she is working on it. We placed our meal order and got up and got a sweetener packet cube from another table. Thirty minutes later we got our food and she told us she was still working on the sweetener. We told her we already got it from another table and she stared at it in confusion like she didn't understand. Our orders had the wrong sides and she said "oh yeah, we are out of hashbrowns". O-kaaaaaay. The table next to us has already turned twice while we were there. The new table gets their food right after us with hash browns on their plate. We were shaking our heads. Right before we finished our meal, she brings a box of sweetener. She puts it next to the one we helped ourselves to and walks away. My husband and I were visiting my family in California, MD and decided on the way out to stop into Bob Evans and have breakfast. We had an excellent waitress named Carol who checked on us throughout the meal getting whatever extras we needed. Our food came out without too long a wait given the fact that so many places are short staffed these days. The food was soooo good. It was done exactly how it should be done - omelet, grits and yummy light biscuits! Needless to say whenever we are back in town we will try to stop by for breakfast. First time ever that I have been disappointed with the quality of our meals at any Bob Evans. Multiple issues today. I don't need to hear the servers conversations about how they were fired and hired back. Servers deserve breaks to sit and eat their meals, not carry around plates and grab bites behind the counter in front of the pass. Both our meals came out lukewarm with obvious signs they had been sitting under a heat lamp waiting for some time. Our eggs had began to harden and get the plastic look from sitting out after cooking. My home fries had obviously been left in the fryer too long. They came out dark russett and beginning to taste burnt. The biscuits crumbled at the slightest touch and could not be sliced or buttered. My cashier was too busy having conversations with her co workers to Ben give more than a rehearsed canned conversation or thanks for dining. Though mid day after church, the dining room is as under half full. If the quality of the food remains the same, we will never return if we give them a second chance. The place seemed very understaffed, which meant our waitress couldn't give proper attention to tables. We ordered coffee, which took about 15 minutes to arrive and was cold. My boyfriend and I came here for a quick breakfast, little did we know that would not be the case. We arrived shortly before 11. Put our name on the list and the woman said it would be about 20 minutes. We looked around and saw maybe 6 people ahead of us. Okay no problem. Breakfast places are normally a quick in and out. 20 mins would be nothing, we sat waiting watching people get pulled back and more filing in. The man who was cleaning tables was taking peoples names down as well as another girl and he would drop people off at the freshly cleaned tables. It was now nearly 45 mins since we had put our names down when we noticed people who came in after us were being seated. There were still 3 groups who had come in before us who hadn't been seated yet, someone brought it to the attention of the guy who was taking people back (black gentleman who had colored dreaded hair) and he and the man argued for a few mins before it was finally settled. us and another party was sat in a lady's section(no silverware) she was sweet and you could tell in her demeanor she was super busy. She took our drinks and food order and then we never saw her again. The lady who dropped off our food asked if we wanted refills we said yes and never received them. I had to actually go get silverware from the front. I was trying to wait for our waitress to come back but after 5 minutes I realized she wasn't and went and got it myself (as a waitress myself I understand things happen) by the time we actually were eating it was 1230 and our food was cold and drinking cups were empty. Only advice I can give is to tell you to pregame before you go, because I'd you don't you'll be to hangry to enjoy your cold eggs that took over an hour and a half to get. read more

Finally our waitress drop food off to the table next to us, that is when my wife stopped her and asked about our food. This is the first time we had seen her since we gave her our order. We always love going to Bob Evan's but this time was very disappointing. After being seated, our waitress Sarah, took our order as well as the table next to us. After almost an hour, I saw her in the kitchen making my fruit cup and cupping the top with her hand. Then she started bringing food out and was giving the wrong table our food. I heard the little kid say that he had touched the food then the waitress tried to give it to us. I'm not usually the kind of person that complains but I cannot eat food that someone else has touched like that. Our waitress seemed very disoriented and frantic. Needless to say, she kept messing up the order and said it was the kitchen's fault cause they were sending out all the food at once. Would be 0 zero if possible. Horrible experience, manager was completely unapologetic and stand-offish. Order food online for pick up at 1010 am had a pick up time of 1040 for curbside pickup. I arrived at the store at 1040 and called the number only to be answered and hung up on 4 times. I waited until 1050 and went into ask about my order. When I got inside it was busy and I was completely ignored after another 20 minutes I was able to ask for a manager. The manager came to the counter and said there were still 13 orders to be cooked before mine and he could not give me an estimated time. I informed if that I was hung up on and he just walked away. When I finally got his attention again and told him I wished to cancel my order he gave me a blank stare and told me ok you'll get your money back in approximately 7 business days and again walked away. This is the worst Bob Evans that I've ever eaten in! Four of us arrived on a mid-Sunday morning. The wait to be seated wasn't long. However, that was the only short & good part of the visit. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks. The coffee was bitter and burnt. We were unable to order for about 15-20 minutes after that and then waited over 45 minutes to receive our order. The food was literally slipped onto the plates with some of it spilling onto other food. While most of it tasted okay, there were also the following issues with quality by all of us. The entree salad is advertised as mixed greens with spinach; however, it was all iceberg with 2 small leafs of spinach. The grits were lukewarm and congealed. The ham was gristly and tough. One of the sausage patties was burnt and some of the bacon undercooked. We never got the check at the table after finishing and had to request it at the register where you pay. We will not be returning again. I also do not understand why they continue to serve margarine instead of butter with the rolls and other breads. This is true of all in the chain. I guess no one has read studies showing that the fats in margarine are as or more dangerous than butter. It is also not tasty. read more

When it comes to breakfast, Bob Evans hits it on the head. The meals are very reasonably priced (can get a full breakfast with coffee for just under 10 bucks), and include generous portions. This location has friendly staff who will seat you with haste. Management is great and I sometimes catch the manager walking to each table, asking if everyone is happy with their food and service. If you arrive on Saturday or Sunday between 9:30am - 1:00pm, you might have to wait up to 30 mins. to be seated. The main disadvantage of Bob Evans is breakfast is really the only satisfying dish. The lunch and dinner entrees aren't appetizing and don't have a lot flavor. The desserts are also lacking and tend to be trivial (i.e. basic ice cream sundae with poor ice cream). Other than that, I have no complaints. They're one of the only restaurants in the area that serve crepes. The crepes are delicious and aren't too sweet. When in season, the pumpkin pie is amazing and tends to be a family favorite. read more

Only went here because IHOP was closed. Had a party of 5. We were seated quickly. The person seating us commented that the people at the table before us must have already left because there were already menus on the table. We should have taken this as a sign. The waitress came by and took our drink order and brought our drinks out quickly. We had requested cream for coffee but the waitress forgot it. She returned and said she would be right back. So we waited as patiently as possible. Looking around the restaurant, no one had any food. We watched as several other tables got up and left, many did not even have drinks. We waited 45 minutes, never had our order taken, and did not see any food come out of the kitchen. I understand that businesses are short staffed, and that people need to be patient, but this was ridiculous. The entire staff was congregated in the kitchen, most just standing around.
