This is the Official Bob Evans of Oglebay Trips. Seriously, guys. It's not a trip to Oglebay without a stop at this Bob Evans. Sometimes, if you're visiting the Festival of Lights on a particularly busy night, your wait in traffic might even start near this Bob Evans!! The facts: it is a standard Bob Evans. It was newly renovated (between our 2011 and 2012 Oglebay Trip visits). It has delicious baked goods, ample parking (attached to or very near a hotel - make a night out of Bob Evans and Oglebay!), and clean restrooms (PITTSBURGH DAD MOMENT OF OGLEBAY TRIPS: YINZ ALL BETTER PEE BEFORE WE GET IN THE CAR LINE). I think I love this Bob Evans because I remember always coming here prior to Oglebay as a child. It was the last moment of the night when we were all getting along: everyone was having coffee and those delicious Bob Evans rolls, and we were talking about what we were hoping to see in the light show, and nobody was burnt out of creeping up an icy hill at 2 miles an hour to see an animated lit-up fisherman. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and Bob Evans has something on the menu for everyone. There's breakfast all day, smaller senior portions, and even a 'light' menu (but save some calories for those soft, warm, yeasty buns!). It's located right off the exit to Wheeling, so it's your first official beacon that you have arrived in Christmas Light Town. It may be a chain restaurant, but it's one I'm always willing to stop into when I find myself in West Virgina! read more

This is regarding new martinsville wv store, or it could be any in the ohio valley. Service is always great! Food has consistantly went downhill for the past 3 years. McDonalds next door has higher quality food. That is the problem. They use the cheapest ingredients possible. Would it be too much to ask for FRESH LETTUCE in the salads. Chicken tenders brand was changed to one that looks like artifical meat. No taste and weird texture. I choose Perkins over Bob Evens anytime. read more

Bob Evans is an east coast tradition for good ol' homestyle cook'n. I love the flavor of then pancakes most! A piece of banana bread and a fluffy biscuit are a must! Then you must, also, have sausage links and sausage patties!! They are THE BEST!! But of course ... it is Bob Evans ... duh. Peach tea!! Holy Sweet tooth! and .... just had the worst meal ever at Bob Evans!!!! Mac and cheese that my wife ordered was cold, her tea was watered down. My home fries were so burnt they resembled mini chunks of charcoal . I had ordered milk to come at the same time as my food, never received it. Ordered the stacker and the pancakes were burnt!!! The only positive? My Water was cold. Rating?? My husband ordered shrimp and when they brought out the food they said, sorry we don't have anymore cocktail sauce. Granddaughter asked for gravy on the side but it came on the mashed potatoes and our refill of regular tea changed sweet. Total disappointment and manager didn't have anything to offer except, sorry. Rude, never know what they're doing. Call in for an order they tell you 15 minutes and still won't be ready in 45 minutes.

Had to wait several minutes for the hostess to acknowledge us, but once we were seated everything was top notch. Wife loved the biscuits & gravy. I had the French toast w/ eggs, sausage links, & home fries and it was all very good. I'd return if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Excellent ! We were greeted immediately, and seated . A Wednesday morning about 8am. Our waitress Julie was attentive . Our coffee cups stayed hot and full. Breakfast was delicious. Wanted my bacon cooked a little more crisp and she took it back with no problem and returned with it perfect !! Highly recommend ! read more

This place is amazing. My first Impressions walking in was the cleanliness of the store. Service was quick to be seated and he was really nice. Our server came out shortly after and we ordered. The food tastes really good. She was really friendly and explained everything for us when we asked. When I go back to wheeling I will absolutely stop by again. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Came at 7pm on a Thursday night. The place was fairly empty (5 tables or less). Service was very slow, we were ignored, Mexican omelet was so awful I sent it back and opted to go hungry. I never do either of those things. I had to get up numerous times to find silverware and napkins. Finally went to complain to manager and he was rude too. He dropped check on our table and said "I gave you half off" and stomped off. When we walked out, after paying, the staff cheered our departure. I have worked in hospitality my entire life and have never been treated so poorly. I tip well, don't ask for much, don't make a mess and don't linger around closing time. Bob Evans has been trending down, in quality, for years. This is the end for me. read more

Had a very nice sunday breakfast at this Bob Evans location. This was the third time i've been to this specific one, and each time i've enjoyed it. The country fried steak and eggs were cooked well and were very tasty, i also really enjoyed the grits. The biscuits were ok. The link sausage was nice. The coffee was ok but warm and great for a sunday morning. The waitress we had did a fairly good job. My coffee refill took a little too long, but that's ok. The bathroom was clean. The vibes were relaxed. This place doesn't deserve two stars, it deserves around 3.4. read more

I waited about ten minutes to get a table when there were about 8 tables empty, but filled with dirty dishes. Then we got to our booth which was next to a table full of dirty dishes and old food. The food sat there for about 20 minutes and then finally someone came to get it. Waited for food for about 45 minutes. It was very bland and not good. I took about 2 bites and was done with my meal. A "safe zone" if you're looking for good salads and trying to get away from all the pizza places in every corner in this town. I've been coming here regularly, usually order the Cobb with chicken and ranch dressing. Expect your server to drop by about every 5 minutes, but overall clean and fresh food. We arrived at 7pm on a Sunday evening for my husband's birthday dinner. we were promptly seated. Our waiter brought our drinks quickly and was very patient as we took several minute's to all decide what we wanted.Only took about 7min to get out food. I ordered the Steakhouse burger and cheddar potato soup. My burger was great, to big to finish, soup was average. Bob Evans - Blackened Whitefish.... Really GOOD!! - American Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

I attempted to eat at the wheeling location yesterday evening. In my party it was myself, my wife, my mom, my dad and my two-year-old daughter. We had just left a boo the zoo event and we're looking forward to a good meal. We chose to dine at Bob Evans restaurant and that was a huge mistake. We entered the restaurant at 6:25. The waitress took our drink orders after about 10 minutes. It took another 10 minutes to get our drinks and to place our order. We then sat there for another 40 minutes waiting for our food. The waitress never came back once. Our coffees were empty and we were wondering where our food was. I saw the manager and flagged him over. I told him what was going on and he said he would check on it. During this time we watched two other tables who came in after us get their food. Finally our waitress brings us or bread after about 50 minutes. She said the food would be out shortly. Throughout this whole time we all remained very patient. At the hour and five minute mark The waitress returns and says that they are out of potato soup. At this point I told her not to worry about it and that we are all leaving. I'm not sure how it took an hour and five minutes to realize that there wasn't any soup to serve. On top of all this my wife took our two-year-old daughter into the restroom. The restroom was awful. There was poop on the toilet, no toliet paper and no paper towels. The dining area of the restraunt was also a mess. It looked like it had not been swept all day with food and garbage all over the place. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant before. I will NEVER return to this bob Evans location. My experience ruined what was supposed to be a nice family meal. I don't know if you have kids but my 2 year old was not very happy waiting an hour and 5 minutes and not getting to eat. I don't know who is managing this restaurant but I think someone from higher above needs to come evaluate what is going on. read more

My son and I went to BrookPark, Ohio's Bob Evans to eat on 8/26/18. It was at least 45 minutes to have our food . The waitress did not even ask us if we wanted refills on our drinks. I orderd a half sandwich soup combo. There was a little piece of meat , a little tiny piece of cheese , Burt bacon and a few pieces of onion. The bread was grilled and burt. I ordered the loaded potatoe soup. Just melted cheese and a few potatoes. My son ordered the Chicken fried steak which was hard , And can greenbeans and instant potatoes. Which he said was cold. These meals were not worth the eighteen dollars that I spent. My son was not given a refill on his drink until after he ate his cold food. We were als-o crammed into a corner and forgot about. A couple came in and the man had a large powered wheel chair they sat in between two tables and one was ours. we had to move even father bac against the wall. Also, I had to use the restroom and this lunatic of a lady told me that I peed all over the toilet seat. And was insisting I wipe it off. Wish I did not do. She called me a pig. And I told if you are so concern about the restrooms go to another stall. I call her a ignorant -----. The manager was cracking jokes that were not the least bit funny. He told my son that he put him at the corner table to watch him. I will not go here anymore unless I know this place and the service has improved. read more

After swearing off Bob's due to recent dining experiences there, I must now confess to a "oops, I did it again" mistake. Traveling on business, I visited here with the Big Boss Lady on Sunday, 10/19/14. I am an admitted fried chicken addict and have yet to find a suitable 12 step program, so at the moment I'm trying to merely cope with my addiction. Bob's was making the cash registers ring at all of the TV station ad departments by filling the airwaves with their new broasted chicken feature. I just had to have a taste. We arrived at 4:30, my taste buds humming in anticipation like a banker at a foreclosure hearing. As we were rather joylessly escorted to our booth by the hostess, the first thing that caught my eye were the debris on the floor. Small pieces of napkin, wadded up straw wrappers, food bits, etc. The place looked rather neglected. Not good, bad omen. It also wasn't so busy that the staff wouldn't have time to tidy up a bit. In fact, it really wasn't busy at all. A nice young man promptly brought out menus and took our drink orders. He returned with our drinks, very weak iced tea. I attempted to order my reason for being there. Chicken! Bad news...."we're out of chicken". Sweet, oh so sweet. My only reason for being there and my hopes are dashed, my taste buds hum a funeral dirge. I'm hungry, she's hungry, we need food. I get the Chicken club platter, she the chicken finger platter. My coleslaw side arrives, wow...that is the chewiest cabbage I've ever had, very noticeable. I took a few bites and pushed it aside. Her side salad and rolls arrive too - the rolls are stale, the exterior was quite similar to mild toast. The nice young man apologizes and brings fresh ones. Then the main courses. Her chicken tenders are edible, her onion petals very under seasoned. My chicken sandwich is fairly well made but is dry, it has no mayo or condiment of any kind. The Mac 'n Cheese tastes of raw flour as though the commissary where it was prepared didn't have the time to properly cook the béchamel base. By now, I just want this to be over. "Dessert?" Definitely depends on what day you visit! We stayed at the hotel next door so we first stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch! The service was excellent! The place was packed! Food was prompt and delicious! Visited the next day for a dinner. Dining room was dirty. Stuff on the floor everywhere! Wait staff was light! Server had no charisma. Food was 1/2 as good as the day before! My brother-in-law ordered a hamburger and had a foreign object in it aka a plastic lid top to a sauce???! We were comped that meal and 20% off the bill but it should have been free. I'm a former server so I know what's expected and should be delivered 100% of the time. read more

Passing through Wheeling on a road trip and with limited options, we landed on Bob Evans for breakfast. The breakfast is consistent with other Bob Evans locations. Large portions and low prices. It looked like the restaurant had been recently remodeled and the staff was very friendly. 4 stars because the coffee mugs were a bit sticky. read more

Well, it looks like I should have read the reviews about the service before going here. My husband and I went on 11/15 for a late dinner. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant. Waited 15 minutes with the waiter attending to the two tables in front of us, but never acknowledging us. We thought we would go up to the bar and wait for hopefully quicker service. Sat there for another 10 minutes. At one point a waitress came over and we were excited that maybe someone was going to take our drink order at least.Nope... she came and got a dishrag, looked right at us, and left to wipe a table. The waiters getting food also saw us and did not say one word. After 25 minutes, we left. On my way out, I saw the hostess ringing someone up, and told her we were taking our business elsewhere. This Bob Evans is attached to the hotel we like to stay at, so we've been here a few times. The food is good (not healthy, but you're not going to Bob Evans for the salads), but the service just gets worse each time we go. We were there on 12/23/14, and the hostess who greeted us looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there. I've never seen such a lackluster greeting at a restaurant, and if I hadn't just driven 9 hours, I would have gotten in the car to go somewhere else. Our waitress took 15 minutes to take our drink orders, and once the food came, we were completely ignored by her. They weren't particularly busy, and it was obvious that none of the staff we encountered wanted to be there. read more

I don't know what has happened at this restaurant. We used to enjoy eating there, and I loved their broccoli and glazed carrots. The past three visits did us in, and I doubt we will be going back. After the first bad experience. we thought perhaps it was just an off day, so we tried it two more times but unfortunately there was no improvement. The service was beyond slow each time, floor was dirty with food/napkins and food not up to par. I always order either breakfast or the potato crusted flounder with broccoli and carrots. The vegetables had zero seasoning and tasted like they were boiled and put on a plate, period. The second time I told the waitress about the veggies and asked for the carrots to be glazed (as their menu describes them). Due to the bad weather had to go to the Bob Evans on National Road Wheeling... not only was it dirty not stocked at all in the bakery, terrible terrible service...
