Totally mismanaged. There is a 15-20 minute wait just about anytime you go with half the parking lot and restaurant empty!! This is clearly due to staff shortage and the staff who do work are poorly trained and super slow. Corporate needs to come and bring new management and more staff!!!! read more

A few weeks ago, I left a review for the Bob Evans restaurant in Taylor, Michigan as I said in the review, the food that I got for dinner was horrible. The chicken tenders were hard and cold. The sausage gravy was lumpy. The coleslaw was sour and the country biscuits were like bricks right after that I received an email from human resources and they told me that they would be sending me a gift card for my troubles well once again this is another example of corporate lip service first off. I was very upset with the money that I spent at this restaurant now I'm really upset about the brush off that I get from a major food company. Phenomenal service! I had my two girls with me, and from the start the service was incredible. The (presumed) manager on duty sat us, but not before letting my girls pick the color of the straws they used for their drinks. The food at this Bob Evans has gone down, hardly edible. The waitress in non existent. The price is ridiculous. For 17 dollars I could have gone to the steak house. The young woman at the counter taking my order had no clue what to do. Started Messi g up my order. If it was not for the Robert, the manager I think this poor woman would have started to cry. Not only was the food outstanding, but it came with instructions on how to heat the items, what utensils to use, even whip cream for the pumpkin pie. Tonight was one of those nights where you feel like having someone else cook dinner. Bob Evans to the rescue! The kids got delicious, mile high pancakes but sadly the whipped cream was missing. I got the turkey dinner with two sides, a small salad, and dinner rolls. Unfortunately the rolls were cold, but no big deal. I can warm them at home. My dinner was gigantic. There is enough here for two people! I'm excited to have some left overs for lunch tomorrow. My husband got the pot roast sandwich w/ fires and steamed broccoli. It comes with gravy for dipping. He says the sandwich was hearty and filled him up before he could finish his fries. We come here a lot and we enjoy the food. The only thing lacking here is the attention to detail. No whipped cream on the pancakes, no dressing for the salad, and no utensils or napkins were given. Honestly though, they are very willing to fix any and all mistakes so it is easily forgiven. I only mention it in case you are taking your carry out to a place where you don't have the utensils or condiments you need readily available. Food was great, service was good. This location is usually busy and seems to do a good business. I've been here a few times and the service is mostly good and friendly. The food here is OK, if you're in the mood for home style food, but I do think the prices are a bit high for what you get. For example, while a 3 egg breakfast here might cost you $9-10, there are plenty of other options in the are where the same meal (with arguably better quality), may be $6-7. I've came here multiple times and every time there was an issue. The first issue was when I arrived around opening time & ate inside. The gravy was pretty cold and it seemed like they weren't prepared to be open. I wasn't impressed with the food at all. A few days later I decided to give them another chance and ate breakfast here again and boy that was a mistake. I understand during times like this restaurants are trying their best but to allow a food prepper in the kitchen with hair hanging down each side of their face while handling food is unacceptable. Went here after my daughters hockey game. Wait time to get seated was ok. Wait time for server was a little long for at least drinks. She made sure we never had an empty glass. Food wasn't hot. Went to Bob Evans with my husband for breakfast. I ordered the homestead, we split the gravy. My husband had the pancakes. My breakfast cost $10.00. Which is ridiculous for eggs and sausages. Bite into a sausage and had to spit out! It was so dry and old and tasted like it was rancid. I was seriously afraid of food poisoning. Took my plate back and brought me sausages that were barely cooked and still had an off taste. By that time remainder of my food was no longer hot. Waitress was polite, but this should have never happened. I have been to other Bob Evans and the food was awesome. Not at this one. Will never go back. Stopped in this Bob Evans after a horrific incident at a nearby Mexican restaurant. Food was hot, but there wasnt alot of it..seriously, the food looked small on the plates. ....my order of two scrambled eggs (it looked like one) came with a handful of hashbrowns, two pork patties and two biscuits for geez, almost 8 bucks? Two others in my party had omelets that they were happy with, another diner had the chicken/noodles over mash potatoes and he said there could have been more chicken. The 7 yr old with us loved her spaghetti and fruit and had the server wrapped around her little finger in a matter of minutes! Which brings me to the best part: our server. A sweet young black guy (I didnt get his name, so I have to describe) who seemed to be in the happiest mood ever. Friendly overload!~! He was polite, friendly, efficient, and he knew the score of the Carrier Classic basketball game which was in progress while we were there. BONUS POINTS. He hustled to get us whatever we needed and got it right every time. Whoever hired this guy, kudoes to you. A great hire and a blessing to this store...and he should move on and serve in a higher class establishment, if this is his calling....he is THAT good. Again, I wish we had gotten his name so I could tell the manager what a great job he did. Adequate Bob Evans has always had good food. There was a time it was my go to place for breakfast. This has changed. Maybe it's competition, or maybe it was the sale to Golden Gate Capital in 2017. Whichever it is the restaurant moves down the list. I now prefer local places. I had the Sunrise breakfast ($6.19) and coffee ($ 2.29) Total 8.48 with tax $9.00 This is the most expensive breakfast, from the places I have been, and it does not even include meat. Two eggs cooked-to-order, served with hash browns, home fries or grits and two biscuits. The taste was good but not deserving the #1 rating I previously had given it. As stated above it was adequate. Eggs were good potatoes were very nice crispy and cooked perfectly. The biscuits were the best hands down. I was disappointed that the choices were not what I would have liked. I wanted Eggs (two), meat, potatoes and biscuits. I would have had to add an additional $3.19 for a choice of meat which would have made my total over twelve dollars. The competition would be half of that. Could be why Bob Evans continues to lose business. I remember coming to Bob Evans for coffee & biscuits only. It may be time to revisit that choice. As was my refill! I went to Bob Evans in Woodhaven for my first outing after spine surgery. I am in a brace and need to use a walker. The manager was so concerned for my comfort he found me a pillow to put behind my back so I could sit comfortably. I do not know his name since I was so overwhelmed with his concern I forgot to look! I ordered a carry out order, when I went to pick it up I walked in the door and I've never felt more uncomfortable the entire staff with the exception of 1 older lady stared at me and didn't even come to the counter to help me. While my experience with Bob Evans Restaurants has never been great, this location is especially bad. This was our third visit to this restaurant (only went because got a 30% off coupon) and had a horrible experience. First, I wanted to order a bowl of chili and was told the kitchen forgot to make it that day. How does a kitchen forget to make a restaurants signature dish? Next, it took over a half hour to get our food and when it arrived was only warm, not hot. The worst thing was we had to listen to a manager threatening the waitstaff because they did not want to work over to cover call offs. How professional is that? The crowning item on this visit is I did the online survey with the identifiers from our receipt and noted all the items above and gave a totally dissatisfied rating and included my contact information- almost 4 weeks later and I have not heard a single word from Bob Evans. Needless to say they are off our list of dining options to consider - even free meals would not bring me back.
