Oh Bakersfield. You and your low standards for boba and milk tea.... I came in looking for some true milk tea, but what I got was just regular milk with tea. Maybe that doesn't make sense to you, but it literally was just black tea + cold milk + sweetener. I could make that at home. I can't rate the tea itself, but I can rate my drink, and I did not like it. We also got the thai tea with boba. This drink tasted better than the milk tea, but it still wasn't as rich or creamy as it usually is. They also gave us like 20 tapioca balls. Come on, be a little less stingy with the boba! Two stars instead of one for this place because at least the boba itself didn't taste horrible. I probably won't return unless I get an unquenchable craving for boba... Maybe I'll just try a simple tea next time. read more

Not a good place if you want Milk Tea with Boba. Last time I was here, I was very disappointed with my black milk tea. Two years later, I decided to give this place another chance. Maybe they changed management or the recipe. Their black milk tea tasted the same as two years ago. It tasted like it was made from Lipton Iced Tea bags with Half&Half. Note these are things you can buy from Vons and make it at home. Additionally, my friend ordered Almond Black Milk Tea with boba. IT WAS COMPLETELY WATERED DOWN. The boba wasn't even soft or chewy. If they could just change their milk tea recipe or use different ingredients, I would come more often. read more

There are two things that Tea Bar gets right that puts them way ahead of other Bakersfield boba drink shops: 1) they actually steep tea 2) they boil their boba fresh. I can't believe how many times I've tasted frozen boba in Bakersfield but, I've never had it here. Their boba is always at the right consistency. Their menu is huge and can be overwhelming. I always stick to a green or black tea with a shot of Torani syrup. Sometimes I'll go for a lychee or passion fruit smoothie. The boba and jellies are optional so if they're not your thing, you can just enjoy the tea. I won't go anywhere else in Bakersfield for my boba tea fix. read more

5 star by Bakersfield standards, 4.5 compared to SoCals tea places. I'm always hesitant checking out a boba place in BF, I consider myself spoiled by socals abundant tea shops and such. But when I saw the menu carrying Jasmine tea (which is sometimes even hard to find down south) I knew I had to check this place out immediately. First off I was impressed by the interior, it was surprisingly nice! I'm used to no frills shops, and this definitely looked like a place I could kill time with my friends. I didn't bother looking over the menu much, since I knew what I wanted when I got there (Jasmine Milk Tea w/ boba.) The tea it's was alright, it wasn't anything to sing home about, I consider jasmine milk tea especially hard to get right. You just need to have that right amount of kick from the jasmine, and sweetness as well. It definitely had that kick, but lacked on the sweet side. I was actually more impressed by the boba itself. I've had my fair share of ups and downs with places cooking their boba. But Tea Bar? Definitely the best BY FAR. It had that perfect consistency of gummy and sweet, which I've rarely seen even Tea Station or TapEx do right nowadays (personally I think 'That Boba Place' in Costa Mesa is the next best.) I'll definitely be returning to try some other flavors soon. I live in 08, but I'll gladly make the drive out to White Ln for it. I hope more people in BF visit it soon, as there was no one else there when I popped by. It deserves the business. read more

I come to this place often & always get the milk black tea, sweetened with no boba. Seems like each staff members makes it differently. I personally prefer the way Kevin prepares mine. He has been working there since the place opened so he knows what he's doing when it comes to making teas. Some of the other staff members either don't put enough sugar, or enough tea herbs. Sometimes it's not very sweet or tastes very watered down. BUT I will say the staff is incredibly nice & it's extremely affordable. I'd still recommend this place to a friend :) as for me, I need to figure out Kevin's work schedule :P read more

I highly recommend tea bar! They have a wide selection of teas and a wonderful staff! it's never a bad experience when I come here. I recommend getting the peppermint tea it's so refreshing and tasty. And although some people may not like their Vietnamese coffee, I personally love it. It's really good mixed with mocha:) overall my experience at tea bar has left me more than satisfied. Definitely going to come back for some more delicious tea and smoothies! read more

If you are into teas, milk teas, smoothies, and boba, this place has literally an overwhelming selection of teas and smoothies and the option to include boba and jellies. I will say, their boba texture and freshness is less than par. I have been to many places in So Cal and in Asia and the comparison is night and day. They do have a few options for finger foods but majority of the time their fryer/ oven seams to be broken. Why even keep a menu board up if you aren't serving anything? Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I do enjoy their jasmine iced milk tea without the boba. Their hot milk tea is very average but can satisfy if you are craving it. The ambiance is clean and I find it a pretty good place to I guess for Bakersfield, this will do. Check it out and see if you like it. read more

Meh..... it's ok. Considering it's Bakersfield I was not expecting much anyway. Interior tries super hard to be Asian and looks chinzy but does not matter because we did not intend to stay long as we were traveling from NorCal to SoCal. It's far from the freeway so It's debatable if it's worth it unless you are really craving Boba like we were. Servers making our drink were really cheap. I asked for no ice because I don't intend to drink my boba right away so I didn't like my drink to dilute over an 2 hours. They only filled it 2/3 full. Lol. Btw, finding this place was a little sketchy as the address did not seem to match up. A mile or so down is another boba place that we will probably try next time. read more

I love the boba at Tea Bar so much I want to marry it! I haven't had boba this good outside of Los Angeles in a long, long, long time. It's cooked to absolute perfection. The tea selection is fantastic and the customer service is always amazing. Yes I gush about this place - but it deserves the gushing. Kind of a weird drive thru, but do yourself a favor and take half an hour out of your day to come inside. Get the ginger peach milk tea, take out your laptop and hang out for awhile. Best boba is Bakersfield! I love the smoothies with Boba! Best flavors are the mango one and the honeydew. You have to go after 10am for the boba to be ready though...I like this location way better than the new Rosedale one. Smoothies are richer in flavor and they aren't too runny. Smoothies, coffee, and Italian soda are also available. My first trip to Tea Bar was around six months ago, and I have continued to return. They offer over 30 types of brewed tea, which can be ordered hot, cold, or with milk. My favorite is Honey Bush Hazelnut with added honey. Tea Bar's staff members are also friendly and knowledgeable. Most of the employees have been at TeaBar over a year. If you are looking for a certain type of tea, they can offer suggestions. When I informed them that I wanted a tea that would give me energy, they suggested Enertea since it has the highest caffeine content. We love this tea bar! My kids and I go whenever we can. I have been happy with my drinks with the exception of the time be for last. That particular time I had ordered the bomb. com. I love that drink and know how it should taste, but something wasn't right and I had the girl remake it. Sadly it tasted worse on the remake. I was very disappointed, not only for my drink, but the location is far away from my house. Maybe she was new, or not familiar with how to make it. Anyway, that is the only time I have had a bad experience. All of the girl baristas are nice and friendly. There was a male barista who was not friendly or personable at all, he was short and had dark brown hair. He wasn't helping me, so I didn't complain. It's just what I observed. People like friendly service whether your helping them or not. I waited awhile and decided to go back this week. This last experience was good, so hopefully my bad one was just an isolated incident. We got the toro smoothie w/ boba. Really good! Our drinks tasked great. We left very satisfied. We've also tried the matcha smoothie, Thai tea smoothie, honey green tea, and Nicki Minaj in the past. Maybe I just don't know what to order. New to the area, I had been craving a sweet, milky tea drink that you just cannot find where I moved here from. I ended up here from Yelp. The menu was large, and overwhelming. I asked the barista (?) for a recommendation, she said "boba milk tea" and then walked away from me. Okay. Well. 10 seconds later the other barista approaches me and asks me if I am ready to order. I felt a little rushed so I ordered the "vanilla oolong" over ice, with a little bit of sweetener. It was weak. Barely vanilla. Refreshing, but disappointing. It wasn't what I truly wanted and the young cashiers made me feel like I couldn't ask questions. Tea Bar and I had our ups and downs at first. Partially because their menu always freaks me out, I am so indecisive, and what I normally get at other tea houses isn't on there. But after a couple check-ins I know what I am doing and the drinks I order keep getting better and better. The vanilla oolong milk tea with boba is wonderful! The pomegranate green tea I had the other day was also great! What's different here is that they actually take time to brew the tea as you order it. This makes their drinks very fresh! Service is also nice. They help you decided what to choose based on your likes. Large teas with boba are around $4.35 and I must say even though I am still looking for my perfect drink there, their boba is spot on. It is perfectly sweet, chewy, and all around craveble. If they had a little bit better tables and chairs and turned their music down, this would be a great place to study. It's relatively quiet and they have free wi-fi!! Thanks Tea Bar. What a cool little spot. My sibs', dad and I came by one afternoon after dodging some crazy shoppers during this holiday season. We wanted a quaint and quiet place to chill and catch up with what's been going on with ourselves. The cashier doubled as a server and offer some great selections catering to our ailments, tastes and holistic interests. We were able to enjoy a good variety of slushies, and hot teas in a welcoming environment. Tea bar has the potential to become something great in Bako. There were a few things that I wish they offered such as the option for an all juice based slush, instead of just cream based. I also hope they consider offering tea pots for groups or even couples wanting to hang out with a cup of hot tea since they had bar seating and small group seating areas. The area was inviting and felt that wouldve been a nice addition. Note: drive thru window if you're so inclined to stay in your car. There aren't many places to get boba in Bakersfield, so i guess this is my favorite. Ha! I've had the strawberry smoothie and iced black tea. The strawberry smoothie tasted like it was made from powder so 4/10 for that. I did enjoy the black tea however; 6/10 for that one. The prices are basically would I would end up paying at LA tea houses. I would probably be here more often if they had the larger 4 person tables and better lighting like the ones Dagnys does. I like to spread out my books,laptop and pound out a few papers but its harder to do that on the tiny tables. Also, the music is tooloud4me sometimes. I wish they had snacks like crispy chicken like at the LA ones, but I can see also see that not working out in bakersfield. read more

If you are ever in the mood for Boba tea or smoothie, you have to try this location! This is definitely one of the best places in Bakersfield that you can get an awesome, sweet Boba drink! If you never tried Boba you have to try it! I seriously recommend you try their Taro flavored smoothie, which they provide in slushy/crushed ice or regular iced form. They used to have a rewards card program where if you buy 10 drinks you get your 11th free, but they discontinued that... But that doesn't mean I won't stop visiting the Tea Bar! Also, the location is small but it's the perfect place to get a small group of friends to chill and chat to catch up with one another in their comfy seats inside. Sigh, honestly, I don't know what happend to this place. When they first opened, their tea was good ... I can defiantly taste the tea itself... NOW, it's too weak and watered down! I'm not sure if it depends on how the barista makes tea or they reuse the tea over and over again. I would love to continue to support this local boba cafe but c'mon.. It's expensive for the low quality. And idk who the heck put 1$ in yelp, it's more like 3 $'s for this place. The plus side, boba is nice and chewy and plenty of variety of tea.
