I just love this place. I've loved it since I was in high school and walking over after school. My go to is the lychee slush or mango slush. I like the monthly specials they have, not sure when that started but it's always fun trying new specials. Right now are the December specials and I really like the strawberry cheesecake. It tastes EXACTLY how it sounds. I think my absolute favorite special was the pikachu from over the summer. I think I ended up getting it almost every other day. Pleasantly surprised by this location. I've seen it many times in the Target/ BabysRUs plaza.. but it didn't have anything appealing from the outside to call me in. It's an older plaza so the businesses have a little older and more run down feel to them. Inside was stylish, simple, cozy. Grabbed a milk tea and a chrysanthemum milk tea. Milk tea was on point. Actually one of the better ones I've had. Chrysanthemum had the flavor but was definitely on the high sweet end. Would come back for a boba fix and the prices are VERY reasonable (under $3 for a milk tea boba? Awesome!) Bunch of young Asian kids working the front and back~ but a LOT less attitude than the folks who work at TapEx on Convoy. The girl that took my order was nice. Once I received my order, I realized 3 out of 5 drinks had no boba. I brought the drinks up to the counter to let them know. It was an Asian girl at the counter with heavy makeup on. Told her 3 drinks had no boba and but I wasn't charged. She said, well u have to ask for it if you want it. I said I did, but the girl probably didn't hear me but no worries. She took the drinks to add boba in. Charged me $2.25. Once I saw the drinks were ready I went to the front. I grabbed the drinks and said thank you. She said nothing at all. I said thank you again and she just did a smirk. She was rude and although I'll never go back again, which I'm sure no lost to the business, I just wanted to share my experience. She definitely gives this business a bad name. Bobalicious/ Square bar has been through its phases over the years and this latest one just isn't it... the last two times I went in, they were out of boba. Bobalicious out of boba.. lol anyway they don't use sealed lids anymore which kinda sucks. Generally the place has gone downhill since the one guy who used to always be working there left... it's still the place to hang for high schoolers years later so it'll keep thriving I'm sure, but there are too many other great boba places in the area for me to return to this one again. read more

I love coming here when I am in Mira Mesa. I am such a boba fan. The boba here is soft and delicious. I am trying to taste different flavors rather than ordering a few of my favorite flavors. I love lychee, mango and the passionfruit flavor. Those are my go to flavors. On yesterday's visit, I got to try watermelon and apple. Both flavors were on point. So good and refreshing. I still have not tried the food here. Maybe next time. There were tables and a couch in the business which I like and cool hip hop music was playing. It seriously made me want to dance. I love the atmosphere and the guy working the front was super nice. The line goes fairly fast and they get their busy moments. If you join their rewards program, you get a buy one get one free boba drink. Give them your cell number and get great rewards. They sent a text asking me my birthday and you get a free gift on your birthday. I just love this place. Regular sized drinks go for $2.99 and some of the other drinks range up to about $4.25. The friends I accompanied are regulars and mentioned this place recently had a facelift and I have to say, it's working for them. A group of friends and I went to Bobalicious in Mira Mesa after a savory lunch, and though it wasn't exceptionally hot outside, this treat was super refreshing and it really hit the spot. I'm not too adventurous when it comes to boba, and I still actually prefer my teas sans boba. But I would definitely revisit this spot if I'm ever in the area because I felt that the milk tea here was especially smooth and sweet. Also, service was spot on--even though there were people ordering and sitting in the café, our drinks were ready really quickly so we could be on our way in no time. Here's what my friends and I ordered: "Milk Tea": This is pretty much my go-to from any boba or tea place just because it tends to be a safe option. I really enjoyed the milk tea from this place in particular because it felt that it was especially smooth and silky; I finished my drink so quickly! I went with my usual and ordered my tea without the boba, but I didn't really feel like spending extra time chewing those tapioca balls and just wanted to enjoy my cool drink instead. "Thai Tea": This is the drink one of my friends got, but I got to try some of his. I think the color of Thai tea always repulses me (it's orange) but the flavor is always really good once I start sipping it. I don't feel like this tea is as sweet as my milk tea--and my friend always gets his with boba--but I enjoyed what I tasted of it anyway and would recommend it if you want something refreshing, but not as sweet as some of the other tea options. "Chocolate" Drinks: There are so many drink flavors to choose from on the Bobalicious menu; it was a bit overwhelming during my first visit. "Iced Coffee": I definitely prefer iced coffee to hot coffee when the weather is warm outside, so I was contemplating ordering this, but I decided to save trying the iced coffee on another visit. However, based on my experience with the milk tea, I would definitely want to try this drink and I'm pretty sure I would enjoy it. "Vietnamese Coffee": Our other friend ordered the same milk tea as me, but she said the "Vietnamese Coffee" from here was really good as well. I would want to try the iced version of this drink sometime, since my experiences with Vietnamese coffee have always been really refreshing and the taste isn't too strong. Bobalicious sets itself apart with it's finely blended drinks and cheap prices! Every visit here I've gotten the Jackfruit Smoothie and I've also ordered the Lychee Slush. The texture of the Jackfruit Smoothie is so fine and smooth, with good Jackfruit flavor that isn't too artificial and boba that is sweet and chewy. I'd pass on the Lychee Slush, as I found it to be icy and was left with unflavored ice and a good portion of boba half way into my drink. I love the fine texture of the smoothies here, it makes drinking so much easier (#firstworldproblems) and reminiscent of a shaved snow dessert that instantly melt in your mouth. Now that I moved up north, I decided to pop on over to Bobalicious. It's been years since I've been back and it hasn't changed all that much. The bobaristas here are never of the friendly variety as many have stated. It seems to be the trend in most boba places I've frequented so whatevs. I usually get the peach smoothie. The boba is always soft and the consistency, thick, which is my preference. Get yours blended with ice cream if you want a richer boba drink. If you're craving something savory, they sell nachos, popcorn chicken and other fattening fare at cheap prices. Other than, if you are older than 18, expect to feel like a dinosaur in this establishment. It was watered down that you couldn't taste much of the tea or the taro. The boba itself didn't taste fresh at all. I've been coming to this same boba spot since middle school (approx 8 years ago until now) and have seen it evolve to what it is now. IVE SEEN IT ALL FOLKS. But the level of service has never changed and the drinks as well. I'm pretty much a regular when it comes to this place and come here all the time with friends just to chill. Drinks: (these are the drinks I have tried and loved) Cookies & Creme: a crowd favorite, very creamy and sweet with Oreo chunks to satisfy the sweet tooth, probably my favorite drink on the menu. Green apple smoothie: so bombbbb. Tastes like a green apple jolly rancher so it can be sweet and sour but mostly sweet. Strawberry banana smoothie: pretty basic drink but really good in flavor. Beats walking to robeks and spending 4-5 bucks for the same drink. Peaches and Creme: really good ! If you like peaches you're in for a treat. 50/50 Orange Creme: also really sweet. I ended up throwing away an almost full cup of this strawberry milk tea. I decided to start drinking my girlfriend's taro milk tea because mine was in the trash and gone forever (thank God!) The taro milk tea tasted extremely diluted with water or something. It was a little gritty (which is normal for natural taro milk tea) but was really bland. I would compare it to how soda tastes like after all the ice has melted. One of my favorite boba place in the area along with Tea Station. I love the boba here. Made with boba that is cooked well that it gives the balance between soft and chewy. Also almost all their drinks are made with fresh fruit (something that's rare to many boba places). Plus their menu isn't limited to what's on the board. They will take and mix flavors together for you, make unique drinks (as long as you bring in ingredients they don't have), and will change things like sugar content per request. All of there drinks are good give them a try once in a while even if you have a drink you get all the time. The snacks here are good too! But what's most unique is their popcorn chicken. It's freshly cut then dropped off at the store to be cooked and it taste great (to me). I hear they also might make fresh calamari in the future! The people here are nice too. The place is opened a little later than other spots which is a huge advantage for a night owl like me. I only wish the place looked a little more fun and less dumpy on the inside because it just doesn't look like the kind of place you want to sit down and stay a while and it is a shame because the drinks are that good. I don't have to drive all the way down South for the sweet, sour, fruity and refreshing harmony that is the Chamango. My wife, the culinary aficionado that I many times, to my detriment, second guess her when she recommends eating spots, read on Facebook that there was a business in the North County that sold Chamangos. I googled this combination drink and dessert and an address came up. Looked up the address and the computer directed me to Bobalicious. Bobalicious?!*?#? A boba place that sells Chamangos. My wife and I hesitantly, but with excited anticipation, drove to locate a place we suspected to be in our imagination. I walked into Bobalicious and instantly saws little signs advertising Chamangos. I was in the right spot. Could this be a reality? I was greeted by a friendly employee and was solely focused on ordering two Chamangos. I didn't even care about the other drinks they were selling. Excitedly, I awaited this heavenly concoction. To my stomach's content, I heard the employee say two Chamangos and then I saw it. The yellow drink, flowing from the top and striped with Chamoy streaks, and thick mango chunks cascading from the top of this beverage paradise was unmistakeable. Could it be? The employee handed me the drinks along with a straw covered with reddish, spicy Mexican candy. I remember eating the candy when I was a kid and it's as good and spicy as I remember it. What a blessing that I don't have to drive 30 minutes down to Teresita's in Otay Mesa for my Chamango fix. This northern version Chamango is as good as the southern version, maybe even better. Its sweetness and sourness was a perfect blend. Not only did it quench my thirst, it also satisfied my evening dessert requirement. What I really like about this Chamango is the juiciness of the mango chunks. I don't remember how much I paid for a regular size Chamango at Teresita's, but the Bobalicious Chamango seems pricey for a small. I might be wrong. The only other thing wrong with this Chamango is the straw given when you order a small. For the small, the straw is smaller than the drink itself. If you don't watch out, the straw sinks to the bottom of the drink, which prevents you from enjoying this great drink. So, I'm going to ask for a bigger straw covered with that spicy candy. If you're going through withdrawals because of your Chamango addiction, don't fret Northern San Diegans, Bobalicious will be there for you. I feel those withdrawals coming and hear those trumpet sounds again. read more

Damn it, I earned it! After a 5 mile jog, I felt as if I earned the right to satisfy my week-long craving for my current favorite non-alcoholic drink: mango smoothie with extra boba. Mmm, mmm, bring on the brain freeze. This place is awesome. They are always super nice and always roll out my drink quickly. I was once told that since mango is their most popular flavor, they usually have them pre-made. A lot of times my drink is ready before the people who ordered in front of me. This place is usually packed at night on weekends, but their parking lot is huge so parking is easy. Plus I like how it's near target so you can grab your drink then walk around target to burn those boba calories. ;) Customer service is usually friendly and the boba is usually soft. They have different types of drinks on their menu but I personally just stick with their Slushs. My favorite is their Strawberry Slush and I always make sure to ask for 'half sugar'. Honestly the Slushs here are sweet enough with only half the sugar added and it makes the drink slightly healthier for you.
