While pulling multiple bills out of my purse, I asked if they only took cards to which she confirmed. I inserted my card and woah-it said I had a remaining balance. I was clearly puzzled as to why this was happening and immediately pulled my phone out to see if I received any notifications. My app would not load because I didn't have service inside the building. More people came in and I did not want to hold their line up so I said very clearly I didn't know what was going on but I'm not getting service right now and asked for one moment. After stepping aside another employee approached the two VERY young children and told them something I couldn't hear. I directly asked her what she just said to them and she responded by asking me if they were with me (they're white and I'm not), then said she was telling them my payment didn't go through. This was an interesting question because there were very few customers in the store when we walked in and we were the only ones at the register just moments ago. As I'm still on my phone, telling this new employee I just explained the situation to whoever was at the register, I hear her explaining to everyone in line that they can't take any orders because they're still waiting for me to pay. Money was never the problem, and it's unfortunate the things I intentionally wear when coming to U village, to avoid being judged by businesses like this, couldn't assure you that. I have never in my life been treated this way and I'll be sure to warn other people who look like me to take their business elsewhere.

I got the ube milk tea with taro balls, dairy-free, and it was such a unique, refreshing summer drink. The texture from the taro balls was super unique and as someone who will always, always choose ube and taro when given the option, this combo deserves to be everywhere. Whoever decided to put those two together: I love you. Service was a bit chaotic and unfriendly, but they were absolutely slammed and I get it: being overwhelmed is human. The interior complemented the hot, sunny day with warm colors; the brown hardwood floors, the lighting inside and the white walls contrasting with the front counter that has all the colors, be it from the croffles or their menus up on the TV monitors. They also serve a variety of other foods and desserts that were also at the front display counter. You can order up at the front counter, or you can use the lone kiosk to the immediate right-hand side of the front entrance to peruse the menu and place your order. In general, it's a very cute cafe with low-volume music, some board games and a matching minimal interior to boot. Their menu offers a wide variety of drinks including caffeinated and non-caffeinated dinks, coffee, milk tea, matcha and others. Their croffles are also on display at the front counter, though I couldn't tell if they were real or not. When I placed my order for a mango croffle and classic milk tea, they definitely did not take or even touch the mango croffle already in the display case; staff took about 15 minutes or so making the croffle and getting everything to me on a tray, complete with utensils and napkins. For each of the foods I got: - The mango croffle is literally a waffle in the best shape and hump for a croissant you can probably get. It looks like it's psrinkled with flour and drizzled in syrup, followed by tons of whipped cream on the top and some okay-quality mango slices. The croffle itself was more than warm and on the borderline of hot, so that's a huge plus for me here. None of the different kinds of sweetness provided by these layers interfered in any way, hence I finished quickly and without a ton of water. - The classic milk tea (with regular sweetness and less ice) was actually for my mom, and I only got a sip of it after she had the majority of it when I returned home.
