Who likes having to go to a repair shop? I sure don't! I expect my car to just keep going, but that's not how the world works. I actually found this place by coincidental mistake. I was on Google trying to get the number for the Toyota dealership in orange, started dialing numbers and got Claire. She was so pleasant and really made it sound so great that I thought, why not give it a try. I got there and was helped by Alan. Immediately everything Claire discussed with me went into play including the free car rental, where they dropped me off, and which I dropped off to them and they returned for me once my car was done the next day. I didn't miss any time off work. The price was beyond reasonable. I had been meaning to leave them a review for that experience. Yesterday, I got an oil change at a killer e-mail promotional rate. This time I had no appointment just called and got Joe. They managed to squeeze my car in and get me out of there in an hour. During that time I enjoyed coffee and listened to their Amazon echo tell jokes, and play me Gwen Stafani/ No Doubt. All in all why I like this place? No hassle, easy, reasonable prices, they go above and beyond, as well as even though I am a typical girly girl that doesn't understand much they show me the diagnostics and parts and explain why things have to be changed, and when I say I'll return on this date for this, they aren't pushy and tell me what is number one to prioritize. I really like this repair shop these guys are really good. They've done me right. I've been taking my car to them since 2008 and I've been really happy with the service and all the men. Their warranty is outstanding. When it comes to knowing what they're doing these guys are the sharpest guys in orange county. They really know their stuff. When it comes to anything smog related or emissions related like a check engine light there's nothing they can't fix. The dealers actually referral work to them. Had a very good experience today with a gentleman named John who works here. My daughter who goes to Chapman University needed to have some work today on here late model car. She's been there before for flat tire repairs and has had good service before so this shop became her go to place for her car needs. I know a little about cars and unfortunately live out of town so when my daughter handed John the phone I didn't know what to expect he would say. This place is great. Friendly service and they are very helpful. The first time I went in was to get and oil change and Alan Graner came out right away to see what I needed to get done and recommended what would be best for my car. While I waited I took advantage of the complimentary coffee they had. Gustavo was the mechanic working on my car, he did a great job. This guy really knows his stuff. He got me out of there within 30 mins. The 2nd time I went in was for my 93 civic. I saw that the car was leaking some oil. Again Alan came out right when I got there told him what was going on and he sent it straight to Gustavo. They me exactly why my car was leaking oil but told me that job would be a couple hours. I told them I was on a time crunch and told them I had to go home and they offered me a shuttle service home so I wouldn't have to wait. I thought that was awesome. Just like they said the Work was done within a couple of hours and they gave me a call to let me know my car was ready. Let me say my car is running better than ever with no leaks. I own a 2008 Chrysler Sebring which is my pride and joy. I put all my life's savings back then just to be able to pay the down payment. I don't allow just anyone to touch my ride. Four months ago, it was due for an oil change and I happened to come across this coupon where Chapman Auto Repair (CAR) promises the following for 69 dollars: three full-service oil changes, 120-point vehicle inspection, battery, alternator, and electrical system test, nitrogen tire inflation, one set of wiper blades, air conditioning evaluation, three loaner cars, three tire rotations with computer spin balance, three car washes, flat repair and an auto repair savings coupon card. To me this looked like a great deal especially after I checked their website where they claim to employ only ASE certified technicians and that the were voted "best in Orange". After buying the coupon, I brought my ride to CAR the next day to get the oil change. I have to mention that after reading about oil change scams, I bought my last oil filter myself and placed distinguishing marks on it. I was met by Joe who told me to go back the following day because I needed an appointment. I went back first thing the next day. I was told to wait and was not offered their promised loaner car. I was also asked to pay an additional $35 for synthetic oil. My car was at the parking lot for a good two hours before they drove it into the garage. An hour later, Joe approached me with a list of other things that needed to be done like brake replacement, tire replacement, spark plug replacement, to name a few. I started to worry a little, having read about car repair shop scams where they offer low cost oil change services but find a ton of other things to be done and customers end up paying a lot of money. I declined the other services Joe was trying to sell me and just got the oil change. Last month, my ride stated running really rough and the service engine light went on. Luckily, there was a repair shop half a mile away. I drove in and, after checking, the service guy found that my oil was very low and only thick black sludge was left. On a hunch, I asked to see the old oil filter and, to my shock, it was the same oil filter that was supposedly replaced by CAR. It was exactly the same brand I bought before and it still had the distinguishing marks I placed. Thanks to CAR my pride and joy will never be the same again. Please, anyone considering going to this shop, be forewarned! I don't normally leave reviews online. This is my very first Yelp review which I am writing because I now strongly feel that businesses that rip people off should be exposed to warn others and that good ones should be praised and patronized. read more

After a The Diagnostic Test, They had to order and replace a few parts. They gave me a great price on the entire Job. I always get a few estimates before making a decision. Their price was in the ball park and the time frame was perfect. They do have a Good Crew and Good Mechanics. The whole staff was great to deal with and are very friendly. My wife and I have been bringing our cars here for 3 or 4 years. Nicest group of people you will ever meet. We trust them, and that's saying a lot for auto repair shops (I'm a cynic when it comes to these things.) To be honest, they've messed up once or twice on my wife's BMW, but they always make it right and we give them a grace that we wouldn't give to others because of their customer service. Also, I don't know if their pricing is good or not, but I have always felt like I was being treated fairly, so I'm very OK with it. I needed a big repair job done, called around and got some quotes and combined with the customer ratings this place seemed like the best option for me. The repair was expensive so it took me a couple of months to come in and when I finally did they honored the original quote I was given, gave me a free rental car so I could get to work while the repairs were being done and actually finished it in less time than I had imagined it would take. Had a great first experience here. Second time was far more time consuming. Went in for an oil change that I had an appointment for at 10:30, was told it would take a couple hours and that the car would be washed complimentary. Called back at 1, was told it would be done by 2. At 2pm got a text that the car was barely being worked on. Car was finally ready at 2:45 and wasn't washed. He provided service for my car that would have been MUCH more expensive at my other mechanic. He gave me informative choices on my tires, and explained the differences in quality and price. Look people, I don't have a dog in this fight- but saying that a change of ownership ought to explain why my review should be removed is a bit flimsy. It's the same shop, I recognize John and all of the guys in the photos as being the guys I dealt with years ago. (PS- it wasn't "over five years" ago John- but I know 15 minus 12 is a bit of a mathematical mind-bender...) I didn't repost this review out of spite just to dig up some old dirt- actually, it was fellow yelpers who messaged me to tell me to update my review, as the shop had changed their yelp name and ditched their bad reviews in the process. I didn't have one bad experience here, I had several, over several years before I learned my lesson. Moreover, in reading other low-star reviews here on their "new" yelp page - it seems that the tiger has not changed its stripes; many of the complaints seem to echo the concerns that led to my initial review. People that work there are super duper friendly. I had a couple of oil changes done there and they did a good job even though it was a little on the pricey side. I don't think I will be going back though. I was informed that I need to get some other work done that was going cost at least $700. I went to the dealership where I purchased my vehicle from just to get a price quote and I was told that it did not need to be replaced. So needless to say I almost wasted $700. I nneded some work done on my Dodge Durango and could have taken it to the local dealership, but I didn't. And I'm glad I didn't. Instead I went to Auto Repair Orange County. This by far was the best choice I made for me and my Durango. I walked into their shop and was greeted with a very welcoming hello as though we had been friends for 20 years. I explained what work I needed done and had a very reasonable quote. Usually, at other repair shops you have to wait a long time to be helped, but not here. They then drove me back to my office. After the repairs were done they dropped my Durango off at my office for me. This is first rate service. I was also pleased to see that there wasn't any grease or oil on my floor mats. This has happened to me before at other shops and even at the dealership. I have since taken my Durango in for other required maintenance, and will continue to take it back for any other repairs it may need. Thanks Auto Repair Orange County for everything. I continue to tell all my friends about you. While growing up my dad and grandfather always had that one auto repair shop they could count on. I took my car, a 2005 Porsche Cayenne, in because the check engine light went on. Mind you, everything was working properly except for the check engine light and a slight gasoline odor coming from the rear, on the driver's side. First, they charge me an atrocious $139 just to diagnose my car. They then call me back the next day claiming that there was a leak coming from above the gas tank and that the entire fuel pump assembly would need to be replaced at the cost of $1,506. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't fuel pumps submerged inside the fuel tank? So how could the leak emanate from there? Anyway, at this point I still trusted that these guys were honest and that they knew what they were doing. I also thought to myself; what's $1,506 compared to my peace of mind? So I decide to go along. After 2 days they call me saying that the car was done but the brake pads needed to be replaced for $300 because they were already down to 1mm. Still reeling from the $1,506 expense and by now suspicious that these people were trying to pull another fast one but not wanting to take a chance, I decided to retrieve the car and have the brakes replaced elsewhere. I took the car to another shop which did the entire job for $150 and when the mechanic showed me the old brake pads. They were still at least 5mm. Again, I decide to chalk it up to experience. After a week or so, while driving, the car suddenly starts to act funny and then stops. The fuel gauge was still at 1/2. I have it towed to a nearby repair shop. While the mechanic attempts to start the car, he opines that it feels and sounds like it was out of gas. After pouring in 2 gallons of gas, sure enough, the car starts and runs properly with the fuel gauge still stuck at 1/2. The next day, I take it back to Chapman claiming that something wasn't replaced properly. After four days, I give Chapman a call and they say everything was well and that the fuel pump just needed to be lubricated. A week after I left the car, I receive a call from Chapman that the car was fully repaired and that parts called Venturi tubes had to be replaced. I proceed to Chapman where I was suddenly slapped with a $755.55 bill! Chapman clearly violated the law and Bureau of Automotive Repair regulations which clearly provide that "the auto repair shop must provide a written estimate before doing any work". However, still traumatized by the entire experience and feeling threatened by this supervisor's condescending, demanding and oppressive tone, I felt forced to pay the $755.55. I noticed, though, that the fuel gauge was only at 3/4. After driving a few days, the car flagged me that it was time to refuel. When I filled up the car, however, it would only go up to 3/4. I then go back to Chapman to complain. At this time, the supervisor again sounded condescending and made no attempt to hide his irritation. He had me wait for 3 hours, after which his associate, tells me to get in the car, gets inside himself and asks me to fill the car up with gas with the fuel tank lid open, which I again obliged. The car was reeking with gas fumes and when we filled it up, gas started spilling out of the gas tank especially on our way back to Chapman. It was at this point when I realized just how dangerous what these people had me do was. Anyway, the gas gauge went all the way up to full. I was told that If anything went wrong again, the fuel sending units were destroyed and will have to be replaced. Yet another attempt to profit from their mistake. After a few days of driving and with the gauge still at 1/2, the car again sputters and dies on the road. I call friends up to bring gas. After pouring in the gas, sure enough, the car starts. At this point, I said to myself, it wasn't worth my car's nor my personal safety and well-being to again attempt to get these people to do their job right. Besides, they were threatening to stick me up again for new fuel senders. So I decide to take the car to a nearby shop with an unblemished Yelp rating. The mechanic, from how I described things, immediately suspected that something was tangling up the floats. I leave the car and after a few hours then I get a call that the car was ready. Upon starting the car, I saw that the gauge was now at empty, where it should be. The mechanic said that he found wires in total disarray that 2 bolts were missing and that the seat belt was detached. He had fixed everything. I fill up the tank and it now goes all the way to full. Today, the gas gauge finally read near empty and the refuel alarm went off. Finally, my fuel gauge and car are back to normal. These people at Chapman are not only incompetent but greedy and dishonest too. I feel the need to write this to spare others from the ordeal and peril I went through even if by doing so Chapman will probably void their so called "lifetime warranty". If you love not only your car but your life as well; please take your car elsewhere. read more

I used Chapman Auto Repair for my smog check when I bought my truck, and I'd been meaning to schedule my oil change when all of a sudden I had an ignition switch issue. I called Friday morning, and not only did they get me in that day, they stayed past closing to complete the replacement for me. Alan and Duke explained exactly what was wrong, showed me the wear and tear on the component, and made sure I understood what was happening and why. I can't ask for better service than I got. I had my AC repaired! I had my AC repaired with them about 2 1/2 years ago and was driving home one day and my compressor blew up with smoke coming out of my hood and everything! I messaged them through YELP and they responded back the very same day. The warranty for the part was only 2 years but they still replaced it! I really appreciated that! So basically they contacted the place where they purchased the part from and had them come confirm that it was a faulty compressor and asked them to replace the part free of charge, which they did. I was working with Bobby and he was great about keeping me informed and working out all of the details. I got my truck back the next day and every part that they replaced now has a lifetime warranty! They really strive to provide excellent customer service and that is absolutely appreciated! Thank you! My truck was also clean and pretty when I went to pick it up! If I had one little downside, it was with the shuttle pick up...totally cool that they have that but it was like an hour late picking me up and I wish that would've been better coordinated but they were busy working hard to get things done so in the end...totally happy! Great service, these guys really helped save the day. My Niece was in town for the holidays, after getting her masters degree in Texas. So given the fact she has busted her ass for 7 years, and is returning to start her PhD program. We thought we would send her back to Texas in style, but the nice "Certified" car we got to replace her 16 year old one, wasn't very certified. Since Xmas, it's been to the dealership 3 times in 2 weeks for a multitude of problems.(What the hell does Certified mean?) And today was the day she was to return home, so she could return to class on Monday. So in a last ditch effort to end the madness I called these guys to see if the could get it in and out by 11am so she could hit the road home. They were able to find the problem and fix it in only a couple hours. I've been talking to her all day, checking in as she travels, no problems at all. Great experience! Never thought I would say that about a smog test. Staff were friendly and helpful; waiting area is very clean and comfortable; nice offerings of fresh popcorn, coffee and water (a mechanic even offered to *bring* us water!); good selection of magazines and books in the waiting area. Arrived at 11 a.m. for our Tuesday appointment, and were checking out at 11:19! They told me it would be about a half-hour, so that was a nice surprise. I have always liked and trusted the team over at Chapman Auto Repair of Orange. I used to take my vehicle to them for any service or maintenance issues until I purchased a new vehicle and had my maintenance services were covered under contract with the dealer for the past few years. My experience with the dealership was a striking contrast to my previous experiences at Chapman Auto Repair- I couldn't wait for my inclusive service contract with the dealer to be over so I could to go back to Chapman (I almost considered abandoning the rest of my pre-paid services with the dealer in order to return to them). Today I returned to be warmly welcomed and well taken care of. Joe the service agent was professional, friendly and very helpful- he gave me advise on a couple of issues with the car stating they could make the repairs but it wouldn't be worth the cost and he gave me some pointers on how to approach the dealer with the issues my still quite new car is having. Wesley offered prompt, safe and friendly transportation back to my home and to the shop again when my car was ready- he even had the heater running for me on this cold day when climbed in for the return trip to the shop.
