Got a recommendation for this place from a co-worker many months ago, but finally went there to get a haircut yesterday. Should have read the reviews and asked for the owner of the place, but got the "girl" instead. She's not bad though. I like the fact that she listened well to what I wanted and then consulted with the guy stylist for his advice. Got a cute hair cut that fit my face well. Very happy with it. There was another client whose hair was taken cared of by the guy stylist. Her hair looked really good too. I think I will come back and have him work on my hair next time just to see the difference. Price: $25. I believe they would have accepted credit card, but definitely prefer cash. read more

I just had a bad hair cut today by Bobby. While cutting my hair, he was doing too many things at one time, answering the phone, telling his co-worker how to style the customer's hair, and keeping a conversation with another co-worker... What he should have done is concentrating on cutting MY hair. He didn't notice that he cut my bangs uneven until I told him so. Then he blamed it on the scissors that he's using which is brand new. It's too bad that I listened to my sisters to coming here. I won't be coming back to this place. read more

I've been here many times already, and in my opinion, THEY ARE THE BEST SALON EVER!!! The only thing about this place is that you should come on a slower day. I was disappointed at first! I took a picture of what I wanted so they had a better idea. Well, what I got did not look nothing like what I wanted. Instead I got highlights that looked cheap and outdated. It was upsetting to spend all that money and TIME. The next day I went back and told them that I was not happy with what I got. They were very polite and fix my hair at no cost! Lesson learned: Be as specif as possible to avoid misunderstanding. read more

The worse experience I have ever had! And believe me I have had some bad haircuts. Bobby K was referred to me by a close friend, I noticed her hair style was nice. He had someone else was my hair, talk about OUCH! She was getting cold water all over me and scratching the scrap out of my scalp. As I sat up she patted my head dry and had me walk over to Bobby K's chair. Water was dripping down my back and all over my face. When I tried to explain to Bobby K the style I wanted he acted like he understood. Then as he grabbed my hair to cut it he said I should have a different style. Then proceeded to chop my hair on the side, leaving it really short. I proceeded to tell him that is not what I wanted. He ignored and continued to cut it the way he wanted. After the haircut his assistant blew dry my hair, all I could see was panic in her face. She did not know how to style it because the cut was so bad. Then he came over to try to style it and he didn't know what to do with it. He then told me not to worry because it will grow out! WTF, I am not worried about how it will look when it grows out, I am worried about it when I get it cut. So the end result was I have a mullet and the length in the back is uneven! About a few weeks ago, I went to my usual hair dresser and asked if I could get peekaboo highlights. After checking for 2/3 salons, they all replied, "No, sorry. We don't do those kinds of highlights." Okay, so after driving around San Jose, my mother and I stopped at Bobby K's, hoping that he would do it. It was my first time there, and most likely my last. I stopped inside, asked the ladies if they did it, and they all looked at Bobby for the answer. Do you not know what you can or cannot do? Seriously? But anyways, he was polite (at first) and told me to take a seat because he was dealing with a customer. I waited for appx. 10~20 minutes and he got back to me. I showed him pictures of how I wanted my highlights done. He asked me what color I wanted it and I replied blonde. "No, that color isn't blonde. It's gold." Wow, you're really going to argue with me over color? I wanted blonde, not gold. I just wanted my hair to look like hers. I shook it off, but a few minutes later, he attacked me with put-downs of that certain hair style. "Oh, don't do that. It's ugly and you'll look weird." "Listen to Bobby. You should do it this way.." As a customer, I'm asking you to do it as I say because I'm paying you. I was most certainly frustrated and insulted, but I didn't want my mother driving around any further just for my hair so I just got it done. It was ridiculous because he didn't even do my hair after he said he would. The woman who did my hair was very patient, kind, and sweet to my mother and I. The total came up to $85 just for the highlights. "Oh hun, you should get layers too because it will look ugly if you don't and it won't show." Lol, NEVER use the word ugly when dealing with clients. Ever. I hated layers for a reason- I look like a lion every morning now. So in the end, I spent $100 and my mother told me to tip the lady $10 for being patient with us. She did a decent job, but I will never show up at that place ever again. read more

I have not felt so bad about my haircut in my entire life. I went in for a cut and ended up not liking it. First of all, the guy didn't even ask how much I wanted off. Second, he parted my hair to one side and started to cut bangs even though he didn't ask if I wanted bangs. If I didn't tell him I didn't want bangs, I would have had bangs for my senior portraits. Now, I have a small piece in the front of my face that is shorter than the other pieces that frame my face. Finally, he put so much heat in my hair. I went in to get rid of my dead ends, but he just added more to my dead ends after the cut. Just to give you a perspective of how much heat there was is that he blowdried my hair with 2 blowdryers and later flat ironed it. Some of you may think that that's not a lot of heat but to me, that's a lot of heat since I rarely flat iron and straighten my hair. This visit would be the first and last time I would go there. This is my first time to Bobby K Salon after hear some of my friends went here. Bobby was like on trade show. He cut my hair little bit, he ran to other customer cut a bit, and come back to my hair cut a bit... a lots of time just waiting...until a lady came over to dry/style my hair. Then I realize he's done... altogether not even 3 minutes cuts on my hair... You can guess it, it's un even, shorter/thicker on 1 side and longer/thinner on one side for layer cut. He doesn't listen to what you want.. he just cut your hair like cutting something that he doesn't care. Horrible hair cut and service that I see in my entire life... NEVER ASK FOR BOBBY and better yet DON'T GO THERE. read more

I wish I could give Bobby a zero star. I ask him for a shoulder length bob. When he finish with my hair it's a short short mess up A-line hair cut. I was in shock. He know he mess up bc he didn't even gave me a mirror to look on the back. He only show me the front. I had to go to another salon to have my hair fix. So sad my hair was past shoulder length. i went with my sisters twice but didn't get a haircut until the second visit. bobby did an awesome job on my sister's hair the first time i was there. 6 months later, i went there again because sis decided to pay for everything. there's this chick that probably has so much to learn. i had my eyebrows waxed there and waiting for them to grow up because it's nonexistent. she did an okay job on my hair but when she straightened it, god damn... she burnt the bottom part of my hair. not only that but when she dyed my hair, there was an orange blotch at the back of my hair and i didn't notice it until i got home. bobby did a nice job again with my sister's hair. i was pretty much jealous. bobby even got us some snacks while we were there. everyone is very friendly and it's pretty hip. get bobby or any guy. the girls... i don't trust them. read more

This review is for a wedding hair trial. When I came in at my appointed time, I was booted for this girl who came in after me during lunchtime saying she only had an hour to get a trim. Mind you, she didn't come in for an appointment. I was extremely disappointed when he worked on her first and just gave me a magazine of wedding hair styles to look at when I already came in with a photo of how I wanted my hair. I even showed him before the girl came in. This made me feel not appreciated at all. When he finally came around to me, Bobby spent another 15 minutes trying to tell me that the hair style I wanted was too old looking that only old mothers would where. He tried to sell this standard Asian wedding hair look that I absolutely did not want. His reason for trying to sell this hairstyle to me was because supposedly, it was the young fresh look. Whatever. I had that hairstyle for my high school prom and it was soooooo 80's looking. I even told him my hair was too thick and heavy for those stupid curls to hold with the hair pins, that it always comes undone. I know this because my previous hair trial was the same exact hair style and it came undone after 1 hour. He said his Bobby curls didn't do that. So points off for not listening to what I wanted. And points off for his hair do coming undone (and I knew it was going to happen) after 1 hour after his appointment. I hated this hairstyle with a passion. I was almost wondering if this is the only hairstyle that vietnamese salons only know how to do. Did Bobby try to convince me of this hairstyle because he really didn't know how to do the hair style I wanted? You have to wonder. Overall, his priority in taking walk-ins over appointed times was out of whack, he had a deaf ear when listening to customers wants, and his supposedly fool-proof Bobby curls with his vision of my do didn't hold up to par and was extremely unflattering and unoriginal. read more

Brandon tran did my highlights forgot me under the dryer and Singed off my hair!!!!I My hair cut is still uneven and in bad shape!!I am in the process of sueing this hairstylist for neglect!!!He had the nerve to charge me 120.00 and made me pay for the hair repair!!!This salon is good just dont go to BRANDON he will jack you up!Bobby is GREAT by far one of the best hairstylist they have! read more

I used to drive half an hour to come here after my friend told me where she got her hair cut - bobby is really good at doing really extreme layers if you want that kind of style, i used to have 3 definite layers in my hair - short,medium, and long. sometimes he cut my hair a little too short on the top for the short layers, and also on the bangs - but as long as you tell him not to cut it too short, he will listen. for what you pay (i think it was around 40-45) for shampoo, conditioning, cut, blow dry, and straightening, it is definitely worth it. everyone there is vietnamese and talks in viet to each other since it is kind of in "viet" town (across from bobby k is a vietnamese plaza) - if you're asian and walk in, they will probably assume you are viet and talk to you in viet haha. although bobby looks gay with his little hat and flared designer jeans, i heard from my viet friend that he has a girlfriend! parking is not too bad, i always find a spot when i go. i would call in a few hours ahead to make sure he isn't too busy. once i went when it was around prom time and had to wait about an hour to get my hair cut! they apologized, but gosh, i wish they could have told me to just come an hour later! in terms of cleanliness, the floor always has a bunch of hair and i see some dust here and there, but then again the price you pay is what you get.. read more

After hearing about this place from my co-workers i decided to checked it out. My friend and I were looking for a new hair style for the summer. Both of us wanted short hair and being us very indecisive. when we first got there we were skeptical it wasn't the wonderful salons we were use to, but it was great. we were greeted by Brandon, and he reassured us that he can cut our hair the way we wanted, and boy did he, he did it better than we can ever of thought of he made adjustments to have our hair compliment our face and at $25 per cut it was a steal, i'll be back just as soon as my hair grows back. :] read more

I went to Bobby K salon, and I noticed that they had very hip music and music videos going on all the time. Don't go there if your hair has any curl or wave to it or is short because they can only cut really straight long hair. If your hair is not straight, they will staighten it with a flat iron and then cut it. (They do that to everyone). While it makes you look good while you are there at the Salon, the moment you wash your hair, it becomes a nightmare. It is totally unmanageable and stringy looking and the only way you can tame it is to buy a flat iron and straighten it everyday which eventually damages your hair. They need to learn how to treat differant people's hair differently not just straight coarse black hair. read more

Don't ever go to this hair salon - Bobby, the owner thinks he knows everything so it never occur to him to ask you how you'd like your hair to be cut or color you like to be done because actually he only knows one style of cut: trim hair down with very thin bottom layer and blond or golden brown high light. My friends and I went to this place in different day and we all ended up with the same cut and color...so ridiculous. read more

Bobby does all my bi-annual hair maintenance, including new cuts and styles; as well as all the updos for parties and my own wedding! I got my haircut two weeks ago. I am still furious and that is why I am writing this review again. BEWARE: Bobby K does not understand the meaning of keep length. I told him I wanted keep length 3 times since I know barbers tend to cut length when you tell them not to. He ended up cutting 2 inches off my hair. 2 inches does not sound like a lot but it took a really long time for me to get the length of my hair and it took less than 2 mins for him to chop it off. Also, I showed him a picture of how I wanted my bangs. He ended up screwing up my bangs as well. What kind of salon owner can't even cut bangs!? Also, the workers there tried selling me a whole bunch of products that I did not need. It was quite annoying. Lastly, when the shampoo likes to dig their nails into your head to the point where it hurts and get water all over your face. I will never return to this place..............ever. read more

I came here couple time, but everytime I come I always have to wait even with apointment, but I would never get a good care, the reason I write this review is because Bobby really pissed me off went yesterday for my hair cut did called in for apt waited 45 min called my name then the other lady came after me told him she had apt too unbelieve he could made 2 people apt at the same time How he could able to cut 2 people hair at the same time the answered is NO of course not he not that genuis he just too gready. First off, it is extremely obvious who bobby is. If you have bobby he's the one that is constantly looking at other people or he's the guy that keeps interrupting the person doing your hair. When he's the one doing your hair he does an extremely good job WHILE he's carefully watching at his stylist like a hawk to ensure they are mixing colors, cutting, and going thru the steps correctly. SO it doesnt matter if bobby is technically doing your hair, because he's everywhere. Second, i'm sorry but the length of ones hair does fluctuate the price of haircut a little. makes sense since my hair is hard for me to style when it gets longer. Third, if you come for a certain look and it comes out wrong, that just means you dont have the face shape or the hair type to achieve it. I think they are infamous for their layers since they can give you good layering while keeping it's length which i am extremely picky on. i give it 4 stars cuz i do agree that the parking and location is shitty read more
