My friend recommended me this place, I was very excited to try something new. So It is a very tiny place with just a few tables. I tried their beef noodle soup with wider noodles, which is good at the very first few buts, but the soup is way too oily and the noodle is not well cooked, the more I eat the more I feel like I'm drinking oil right out from the can. My friend ordered fried pork chop, which looks way better than my beef noodle soup. So i will back again just to give it a second chance, maybe i just ordered the wrong dish. read more

Was here for lunch and right after finishing our food we saw table next to us ordered shaved ice and it looked delicious. Well I couldn't wait and few hour after here I am again. I'm usually not a big fan of Taiwanese food, but this place is so tasty! I love their egg noodles and popcorn chicken, and my husband had their beef stew noodle, which was excellent too. Service was great and their food speaks for itself. They have daily specials (buy one get one free) drinks which were just as good. If you go there for lunch, they have combos including drinks too. Try their papaya milk shake! The restaurant is really small, so that place gets pretty packed during peak hours. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in SoCal. The menu is really nondescript for nonChinese speakers/readers. The Bobee fried pork chop is to die for. So is the beef noodle soup. Food here is pretty solid, especially their Beef Noodle Soup and Pork Chop rice. The Beef Noodle Soup stock has a nice consistency to it and was packed full of flavor. Beef was also tender and the noodles are well made and handle the soup well. Pork Chop was fried golden and had a nice, moist and tender texture to it and was seasoned beautifully. They also give a good amount of side dishes to the bento! Can't really say much about the service because I usually only order here to go. I'd give this place zero stars if I could........my sister and I started going there ever since they opened... the food, honestly, is not that bad but we go there for the convenience....easy to find parking and food comes out in a timely manner (most of the time)...... we even gave them the benefit of the doubt one time when we found a bug in their soup noodle, thinking, oh it probably flew in there after they served it to us.....even so.... a good and sensible business owner/manager would offer to take that item off the bill.... right? or is that asking too much? perhaps chinese restaurant owners don't understand this concept of keeping the customers satisfied...but i digress....maybe the staff that day weren't properly trained.....anyway... yesterday i took my mom and daughter to this place for dinner..... ordered the usual salt and pepper chicken, taiwanese style rice noodle and their pork meatballs soup noodle...... half way through my niece yells...OMG a bug! and yes... it indeed was a bug.... now i'm not a very picky person.... so I say, just pick it out it's ok, it's just one bug.... she starts eating again, and a couple minutes later she screams AGAIN....OMG ANOTHER BUG!! lo and behold....yet ANOTHER bug.... are you guys keeping track? that's TWO bugs in ONE bowl of noodle....UGH! ok at this point i'm upset BUT ok, we're almost done with the food....i'm not gonna make a scene.... it is what it is, i will just make it a point to never eat there again unless i want soup noodles with bugs in it..... but get this.... my niece kept drinking the soup and FINDS ANOTHER BUG!!!!! that's THREE BUGS IN ONE BOWL OF NOODLE!!!!! seriously how disgusting can it get?! I call the waiter over and said, sir, there were 3 bugs in this one bowl of noodle, that's very disgusting and don't you think that's excessive?! i'm ok with the occasional ONE bug in my food but THREE?!?! and guess what he says? oh, ok.. well, i'll tell my boss...........do you want another bowl? ..................... he didn't even OFFER to take this item off our bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! actually, if I were him I'd comp the whole meal for serving me a bowl of noodles with THREE BUGS! but nope... he didn't take this item off, nor offer a discount.... We have a group of 7 people and it was our first time here. The food was ok but the service attitude was horrible!!!!!!! The server who took our order, her attituded was ok but the lady who stood at the cashier desk was really mean. She talked in a high pitch with strong voice which doesn't seems like she like her job at all. After our first dish was present, we soon realized that there were no chopstick so we asked the cashier lady for chopstick (since she was the one who brought up the dish). She replied, "yea I know" with a very "annoy attitude" that made us felt like we were being very push. But she was actually helping the group who came in after us to get their chopstick. She could of just say "yes, right away" with NO ADDITIONAL ATTITUDE!!!! Later on, the lady who took our order somehow missed an item so one of our friend didn't get to eat till everyone of us are almost done. The cashier lady apologized but with her unpleasant attitude AGAIN! At the end of our meal,we decided to only gave them 15% tip and the mean lady over heard our "tip" conversation. She got very pissed and gave us a "look"without any "THANK YOU". After we got out from the store, we saw the cashier lady was talking to our server about the tip conversation and she glanced out from the window and gave us "the LOOK" again!!!!! This is a small taiwanese cafe just off nogales and located by the JJ Bakery in the strip mall. While there are a lot of taiwanese cafes around, lately there have not been many authentic places. Many of the restaurants/cafes have switched owners, chefs are from the mainland china vs. taiwan, etc. This place still looks to be run by taiwanese people at least the days we went. We have been to this place four or five times over the last 2 months. I wanted to get an average feeling to give a better balanced review. This is a typical taiwanese cafe. Service is up to par with typical restaurants. You come here for the food, the service will not blow you away. Also, seating is very limited. Some times we had no wait, most times we had 15-20 min. wait, if your party is larger than 2-4 people, the wait will be even longer. My brother ordered a drink and given it was 1/2 filled with ice, they actually refilled the drink for him (so while not mindblowing for service, it's more in line with the new generation of taiwanese cafes where service is more of a priority) We have tried a number of different dishes. First, the beef noodle soup. They have won awards for this and actually, i have to admit despite reading the other reviewers - beef noodle is hard to judge and you have to really state what standard or type you are comparing with. I am not a fan of liang's kitchen or mama kitchen, etc for their beef noodle despite the reputation they have. Din Tai Fung makes a decent bowl but you have to wait 1-2 hours for it and they aren't really known for their beef noodle soup either. Everyone has their impression of what it should taste like and the varieties vary even in taiwan. My uncle used to be a food editor for a major newspaper in taipei and we tried 6 different places who were top notch in taipei and the styles and ways they were made were so vastly different (with soy sauce, without, yong kang style, etc). This style is closer to the Tao-Yuan style in taipei. We felt the noodles were fresh, the beef/tendon were actually very well cooked and the broth was flavorful. Would you say this is the best beef noodle i've ever had? of course not, you'd have to go back to taiwan for that. Compared to other places, i would say it's definitely above average and probably among the top 5. The broth was balanced, not too salty and the spice level was appropriate. I've tried other dishes - their popcorn chicken was well cooked, not too oily and crispy outside and tender inside. Their taiwanese sausage is nothing to write home about - go to sinbala which is what they're known for or other cafes around. TThey obviously don't make their own sausage. heir simmered pork dish (ru ruo fan) is very well done and authentic. Their pork chop noodle and rice dishes are average. Some of their other special combinations are not bad and depends on the day. The stinky tofu dish we did not order but looking at the people next to us it seemed ok. there is a better place in arcadia (stinky tofu king) that probably makes it much better. My favorite pork chop place is Jin Yuan Pork Place but that's a very different type of pork chop but their pork chop was made pretty well in the more traditional style of pork chop rice. Bottom line: friendly taiwanese cafe, above average beef noodle soup that in my opinion is quite authentic for rowland heights and the states; other taiwanese dishes are pretty solid but if you are looking for more specific types of dishes - you may be better served at other taiwanese cafes (i.e. pork chop, sausage, etc). They accept credit cards over certain amount. They do alot of take out as well. read more

You can tell this is an authentic place run by passionate people the moment you walk in. Shouting people who work hard - service can get crazy when the small place fills up but the waiters and waitresses, who I believe are Taiwanese, are always friendly and prompt. Came here for lunch and got popcorn chicken combo with noodle soup and wintermelon tea. Popcorn chicken was fresh and crispy although it had more tendon and fat than I would have preferred - noodle soup was somewhat bland but for $8.50 it's still a good deal with the somewhat-too-sweet wintermelon tea. Though there was a "daily dish" but did not get one. Apparently their beef noodle soup is also pretty good so that would be a good thing to try if you aren't angling for a lunch special. Admittedly I am a beef noodle soup snob, so I am always skeptical when people tell me about their favorite niu ro mien place. My first visit did not disappoint. However, I've been fooled before, where places are simply inconsistent with their flavors and beef tenderness. We have been there at least 5 times and I've had both the regular and their tomato flavored beef noodle soup. So far, I've been very satisfied after all my visits. Other dishes are very good as well (5Bobee fried pork chop plate, for instance), but what I crave is the beef noodle soup. I've had many, from Monterey Park to Arcadia, this is the best. as a taiwanese, you scout countless places looking for "the one." but after a while, they all start tasting the same. so what makes one taiwanese food place stand out would be a combination of the food (has to be good for most of the dishes), decent/acceptable service, and decent/acceptable aura. to say the least. this place is okay. and just that. the service was pretty good - one waitress helped us decide what to order because it was our first time. the atmosphere was okay - family oriented, not too loud or crazy with teenagers or asian-gangsters-wannabes. the AC was on really strong and it wasn't even summer yet. but the food was, just okay. everything seemed salty (as in saltier than normal outside food). the only thing i liked that seemed more than just okay, was the beef stew noodle and the portion size. if i was in the area and wanting some taiwanese food, i'd come here. but i would not make a trip out for this place when there are countless of other just-okay-if-not-better places in all the asian-ville. read more
