First time here and I liked it! Tried the lunch special - pork stew rice and salad. The pork was flavorful with pickled radish and a tea egg. It came with a cabbage salad and a drink. I got the wintermelon tea - sweet but good. My family got the other lunch specials - popcorn chicken and the pork belly. Those were a little more in price, but all of it was good, complete with salad and drink - wintermelon or Jasmine. The space is medium-sized with adequate seating and the ladies were nice. Came in to check out this place since it's closed to the RUSD main office. We ordered from their special lunch combos that come with a drink - ice green tea or winter melon. Both drinks are tasty and refreshing. We tried their pork belly, popcorn chicken, and pork stew - all items were very good. Fried items were nice and crispy and not oily. I like the variety of side items that come with the combo. It makes for a nice complete meal. Workers were very friendly. The seating area isn't the biggest, but we didn't have a problem getting a table for lunch. Didn't try their beef noodle soup, but I'd like to try it next time I'm there. It's not the same as before the beef noodle is completely different. My wife and I had food poising from the beef noodle for the past 24 hours and it's terrible The kids are okay since they only had the dry noodle and the pork chop rice. I have to admit the pork chop rice is better than before. However I can only give two star for the food poisoning we are experiencing right now which is very painful. Bobee 5's quick service makes me feel like I entered a pit stop for great Taiwanese food. I got the popcorn chicken with rice ($13) in just five minutes. I arrived here right when they opened at 11 am. One staff member also refilled complementary water. There are plenty of parking and multiple Foothill Transit connections at Colima Rd. and Nogales St. I asked for medium spice, and the popcorn chicken had just the right amount of red pepper for me. The chicken was really tasty with many crispy and juicy bites. I enjoyed the rice with minced pork and wished they had served more. The little side dishes were different from last year. The new ones were a braised egg and vermicelli noodles. This is an improvement from the stir-fried vegetables I had last year. Also, I was able to finish everything on my plate this time. The restaurant was well air-conditioned with loud Chinese pop music playing in the background. There was a sign that said that they require a minimum purchase of $15 when using a credit card. Thankfully, the staff member still let me use a credit card even when my total bill was less than $15. Traditional Taiwanese food served with warm service! Returning back to the area, I was craving some authentic Taiwanese food...something that would take me back to the night markets of Taipei. I think this may be that spot. It was clear to me some folks regularly visit this spot, because many patrons walked in, and were greeted with a "your usual?". This warmth in my opinion adds to the authentic Taiwanese flavor and overall ambiance. We went with the stinky tofu w/ Taiwanese sausage, the Dan Dan noodles, and the braised pork belly set with rice, spicy tofu, and vegetables. The stinky tofu and Taiwanese sausage was AMAZING. It's not something I would recommend if you're NOT a fan of this pungent yet delicious food, but if you are a fan like myself, this place does a good job with it! It is good as it comes, but I would recommend adding some extra hot sauce on the pickled cabbage for a bit more kick. The braised pork belly combination won my heart. I mean, it was soaked in a rich broth and paired with bamboo. It was absolutely mouth-watering. The fatty pork belly was true to it's name and absolutely melted in my mouth. The flavors were bold, rich, and perfect with a spoonful of white rice. I know a few people have spoken highly about the Dan Dan noodles, and they weren't bad, but to be honest, not my favorite, subjectively. We will be back!! Went to the Mimi Bobee 5 in diamond bar and loved the beef noodle soup, so decided to come here and try it out to see if it is the same. I would say they tasted the same and it was really good. Noodles were nicely cooked, really flavorful soup, and the beef pieces were nice and tender. People around us got those combination plate lunches and they looked really good, so I think I will try one of those next times. I think they have a buy one, get one free drink special too, so I saw a lot of other tables with their drinks. Place is pretty small and it was pretty busy. Can get a little loud because Chinese people can talk pretty loudly. Overall, service was fast and friendly, food was good, and prices were decent. This is an unassuming little Taiwanese restaurant with a mom-and-pop feel. The menu has a lot of the most popular Taiwanese dishes, as well as bubble tea. We had the dan dan noodles, dry noodles with pork, and wonton noodle soup. It didn't take too long for our food to arrive and it all looked great. The dry noodles were delicious, topped with a gigantic portion of bean sprouts and a small mound of intensely flavored minced pork. It was a smallish portion though and I was still a bit hungry after finishing my bowl. The dan dan noodles were decent and had the requisite spicy sauce but some pickled veggies with the noodles would have been a welcome addition. The wonton noodle soup was served in a large bowl with generous portions of wonton and soft noodles. The broth was delicate, light tasting and reminded me of something my mom used to make back when I was a kid. Service was friendly and the staff speak both Mandarin Chinese and English. This place is back on my radar. I used to love their beef noodles soup, but there was a time the quality went south but have been back twice lately and it's been great! I also like that they have the no meat option, and they ask you what kind of noodles you like. Their popcorn chicken is also one of my faves and the bf has been loving their hot pots. The noodles aren't the traditional noodles you use for beef noodle soup, and they didn't pair very well with it. Typically in beef noodle soup, the beef is pretty tender and soft. Unfortunately, the meats were inconsistent with some being very tender and some chewy and kind of hard. Yam fries: solid fries but a little salty Mix mix: I got this to go for my friend, and they said it was pretty good. Would've been better if it had a bit of a kick to it though. Food: 2/5 Ordered dry noodles with popcorn chicken. Told them we wanted the popcorn chicken mild, but ended up non-spicy. When asked for chili pepper, they gave us a pinch of chili pepper on the side. lol. The dry noodle is more like a Hong Kong style thick egg noodles that was over cooked and mushy. Dry noodles with shredded chicken was ok. I had better. They could have been a bit more generous with the portion. The container wasn't even half full to charge $13 for it!! The place is small and not many tables. What really annoyed me was the waiter rolling eye balls when a family of four entered around 715pm. They had two little ones and didn't want to be seated right behind two rowdy kids who are let loose in the small cafe and obnoxiously loud while the mothers didn't bother to control their kids. When the family asked to sit elsewhere, the waiter rolled his eye balls again. When asking for a high chair, the waiter rolled his eye balls again. It's just really bad to have to witness such bad service even though it wasn't towards me. On top of that, another waiter came out of the bathroom with a bag of trash in his hands, he placed it on the floor (next to the window by the kitchen where they put the cooked food ready to be served) and picked up the tray of food (without washing his hands) and brought the food to the family with the two little ones. When the courteous server brought me the hot pot on a burner, the steaming aromatic in the air was a relieve from my concern. Uhh, wow, this place kinda missed all their marks. We ordered dan dan noodle, stinky tofu, seaweed cold dish and bamboo shoots. For starters, we got jia jiang noodle. Its ok, but it wasn't that great. The ingredients were kind of off. For example, its the first time I had this kind of stuff with carrots. The flavors were just...wrong. The bamboo shoot were really really bland. It was like biting into water covered with topping. The seaweed mix dish was ok, but I would definitely not have ordered it again. It was a bit sweet and I couldn't find any of the other parts of the appetizer in this dish like the bean curd and pig ear. The stinky tofu...was actually ok. Again, I probably wouldn't have gotten this but this dish wasn't horrible. Hooray? We ordered a few other dishes but thankfully it never made it on our order. Kinda glad they forgot about it. We just couldn't take anymore. Look, some people may like this place. They definitely had one or two other tables with customers, so there must be some good dishes on the menu. Have you tried their tomato beef noodle soup? It's THE BEST. The flavor is so rich and sweet. The noodles are very QQ and the beef melts in your mouth. Food is really authentic, I love their fried pork chop dry noodles, they use the flat noodles (they are my favorite). We also ordered the Haka pork with rice, it comes in a pretty good size. Delicious and authentic. I've ordered here twice and both times never failed. This time I ordered the tomato beef noodles soup and their bamboo shoot side dish. Do not be fooled with the bad reviews! The food is was so good, my whole family each ordered Combo C. All four of us devoured our food until our bowls were empty. The fried pork was so soft and the crunch on the outside was perfect. Along with the noodles were very soft but light in flavor, so this is paired well with the pork! New family favorite restaurant! Although, their bamboo shoots with minced pork was a bit bland for my taste, but the fish ball noodle soup and pickled radish made up for it. I recommend their tomato beef stew noodle soup with wide noodles, half meat and half tendon. I also recommend their fried crunchy pork chop. A nice hole-in-the-wall restaurant with nice people and tasty food. I'm not sure why some of these reviews are so negative? I've been to many Chinese restaurants, and Bobee 5's tomato beef stew noodle with half meat and half tendon (wide noodles) is by far one of the BEST. The carrots in there balanced the tomato flavor well with the beefy soup, it definitely toned down the salt. For me the soup was tasty. The meat falls apart and tendon is cooked just right, soft the way I like it. It came out hot and steamy, great for a cold rainy day or a cold evening. The veggies in the soup were fresh and not over-cooked. I also tasted the regular beef stew noodles, it was good, more beefy, personally, I like the tomato beef stew noodles better - I enjoy tomato based soup/sauce. The crunchy pork was tasty, to my surprise unlike many overcooked katsu places, their pork was tender and juicy! The batter added a nice crunch a bit of sweetness. It was not overcooked or soggy or anything like that, I think the cabbage they placed underneath kept the pork chops dry and drained some of the excess oil. It was tasty. The seaweed/tofu/pig ears appetizer was tasty but I would not recommend it to people who have a date after or on a date as it can have a strong garlic after taste. If you like garlic, go for it.
