We frequent the Better Buzz down the road on Mission Gorge, so we have seen this place in passing. We decided to finally try it. I can't comment on the drinks, but we love the mochi donuts here. They have a wide selection of flavors. I'll be the ones I can remember: ube, funnel cake, churro, dark chocolate, strawberry, matcha, creme brulee and more. Favorites so far are creme brulee, dark chocolate, ube, and churro. The donuts are soft and a little more doughythan standard donuts with a good taste of the flavors mentioned. They are not overly sweet like standard donuts from Dunkin or Krispy Kreme. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I feel like the sweetness doesn't dominate, so it allows you to enjoy the flavors a little more. The place is pretty clean and staff interaction is okay to good. They have self-ordering kiosks for convenience and ease of ordering. The donuts are a bit pricey, but what isn't these days? Lol. I think it was 6 donuts for $18 or something like that. I can't comment on the drinks. I would order a drink here, but probably without the boba. I just don't like how the boba is stored wide open, uncovered. I think part of it is my mild OCD nature. Lol Parking isn't bad. We have never had a problem finding parking here. We are fans of the donuts here. Maybe I'll order a drink here some day sans boba. 4 / 5: Donuts No grade on drinks 3.5 / 5: Service 3.5 / 5: Cleanliness 3.7 / 5: Overall (rounded to 4).

MEDIOCRE TO BELOW AVERAGE BOBA (2 stars) Yes, this is the boba place that offers a surprise toy in your cup... but is it worth the extra $4.95? I didn't feel so and went for a "pretty" looking drink on the menu and got catfishes and def caught off guard on the first sip. MUNG BEAN PANDAN LATTE ($6.70) - is it boba or an iced latte? I added brown sugar stir-fried boba to it. The drink itself tasted chalky. The mung beans seem to fall flat in the drink and I've realized I'm not that into pandan flavor - I don't hate but I def don't love it, just has an inquiring taste. The drink looked much prettier on the menu than in real life and maybe not pick a drink based on its photo as the flavor may not add up. After a few sips I was over it. Until the next review..

The mochi donuts here were great. Good texture, not too sweet. I loved the marshmallow-like flavor one most. The strawberry one with picky and chocolate were good as well. The mochi donut with red icing was kind of hard to place what flavor it was though. Mochi donuts have kind of been hard to find lately, so I'm glad I now know a spot where I think they'll be reliable and taste good.

Small shop never super busy. I haven't tried their donuts yet, but their drinks were all right for the Area, not great not bad, I mostly went for the surprise cup and I thought the prices were fair. It's around six dollars more to the drink you're already getting so in total it was around $12. The inside was very cute pink and nice to take photos in.

Hair on the bright coral pink Mochi donut (Not mine since this hair is short and dark colored).

I came here in person while our car was being serviced. The walk over was pretty short! I liked that Bober Tea & Coffee had both indoor and outdoor seating. It is a small place, but still can hold a decent amount of people. They have AC and the interior for the most part is clean. (The background garden wall has some people's hair tangled up in it and there's a few dusty areas). It's quite bright, modern, and pink inside. There's an ordering kiosk or you can order up front. I think the prices are on the expensive side compared to other boba spots. And they up charge for light ice which I find pretty wild. I went with $7.10, Taro Milk Tea (they call Taro Latte), with Brown Sugar Boba, 75% Sweet. It was still pretty sweet, I believe because they use powder it seemed? I'd get 50% sweet next time or a different drink. The boba was a bit chewy and soft. To be honest, the drinks available -- while they had a great selection, nothing really appealed or stood out to me. This seemed more like a sweet / cheese foam boba spot that doesn't focus too much on the tea. But I am trying to be out of my comfort zone when I order so next time I'll try one of their blended drinks! I just know, last time the Vietnamese coffee wasn't the best. Anyways, the workers are really nice. They have large selection so you might find something you enjoy.

The interior is so cute and clean! The place is cash-free and there are two ordering kiosks as well. Service was quick. There was seating inside and three small tables outside. The drinks were good and well crafted. Though I personally like places with stronger tea and sweeter boba pearls more. These drinks were more sweet and milky.

I was super excited to see that there was a Bober here in SD! I've been to the chain a few times in NorCal so I was super relieved to see they had one not too far away from my place since I was really craving a winter melon milk tea. Like all other locations, the decorations were cute as always! The space is a little bit smaller but when I came in, there were a couple of people working on their laptops, and a good amount of people at the kiosks ordering. I actually ordered ahead so I didn't have time wait - glad I'm did otherwise I'm not sure how long it would have been until I got my drink. Overall, the winter melon was a 3/5. I asked for 50% sweet and it was still pretty sweet and it somewhat tasted a little chalky? I still need to find a go to winter melon tea but this still did the job.

Super cute place & surprise-cup concept! Not sure if they always offer those? Also, they are partnered with Mochi Donut! Yum! Anyhow - We went during the Hello Kitty collection. My daughter really wanted Cinnamon Roll but the cashier said you could not request, as the plushy you get was a surprise. (Not even on the low low so my daughter didn't overhear) I was kinda bummed about that but understood rules. Anyway once we got the drink I could tell that the barista could have very easily saw which character we were going to get, but oh well I guess they just refuse to do it . We ended up with "my melody" plushy which was fine. My daughter was understanding and still happy. But I noticed it definitely caused a lot of sad children around us, eek! haha! It was unique and fun! Service was just okay though, no accommodations or friendly service. Some places are too busy and forget this important part of business!!

Came here on a Sunday evening, busy with a steady stream of customers, but not a terribly long wait. You can order at one of the two kiosks, or at the counter. So of course we ordered the surprise cups. Honestly, +$4ish for a surprise plushie is reasonable, and the Sanrio characters are super cute... but.. the boba drinks weren't very good. We got a few flavors... taro, hazelnut mk, cookies and cream, and one other drink I forgot what lol. Hard to pinpoint, they just didn't taste too good and even though we're in the $5 price range (not including the surprise cup extra) I wouldn't order it again. We ordered a mochi donut, and that was good. Warning- with the surprise cups, the drink is made in a smaller paper cup and inserted into the surprise cup. We had our drinks for about 2 hrs... when we got home, both cups were soggy and the (almost) full drink spilled out everywhere. The employee at the counter was nice enough. The decor is super cute.. but it was very dirty and messy. The floor was full of smudges and shoe prints. The cables and chairs all needed a good clean up and wipe down. The trash was overflowing... nobody really stayed too long inside, I bet bc of the mess. The novelty of it all, with the surprise plushie and even the cute bear bottle you can choose is a fun experience, but I don't know if it's worth it considering everything else.

My friends and I came here because they love Boba & we were celebrating our friend's birthday. I passed the business twice because I didn't see the small sign & am not familiar with the area. Parking is in the back of a small parking lot. The business is pretty small. There is a small amount of seating inside/outside, chairs were comfortable. There is also bar seating. You can order from one of two kiosks-was a little confusing - I accidentally ordered two drinks when I thought I was only adding on to receive the hello kitty plushie. My friends enjoyed their drinks. I ordered a cold jasmine green tea, it was just ok. We plan on bringing our littles back so hoping to try one of their dairy free options next time. We loved the backgrounds for pictures and loved our plushies!!

This place makes great Milk Teas. I had the Signature Milk Tea in the Surprise Cup with rich brown sugar syrup and premium black tea. The milk tea was delicious! It was creamy and not only offered a great black tea flavor, but the brown sugar flavor was terrific. They put just the right amount of ice in the beverage to keep it chilled but not to overwhelm and water down the drink. I liked it! Oh yes, imagine my surprise when the lady told me their was a little plushy surprise in the bottom of the cup. I would of thrown it away, if the lady at the counter did not advise me. It was a little Hello Kitty wearing a unicorn pajamas. It was totally cute and will be going to one of my students as a prize. The service was very friendly. You order at Kiosk and pick up your order from the counter when they call your name. They offer inside and outside seating.

This Singagporean bubble tea chain has opened its first store in the SD area. The choice of location in the Grantville neighborhood was peculiar to me because it seemed random and out of place. I can't imagine much foot traffic passes by this block. That being said, the inside of the suite was beautifully decorated with lots of pink color, flowers, and disco balls. The business was operating in conjunction with a mochi donut vendor which has its own separate Yelp listing. Like a few other reviewers, I approached the service counter to ask a question about the drinks. I didn't receive a response from the worker, only a gesture to use the self-service kiosk of which there were two of them. Scrolling through the options, I noticed a surcharge which I detest from any boba tea spot... $0.90 extra for light ice. Sorry, but that's an automatic one star deduction from my rating. If you want to play that game, then why not offer a $0.90 discount for more ice? It's a slippery slope as the vast majority of these businesses don't nickel and dime for the amount of ice in a drink. A unique feature was the display of freshly made brown sugar boba being stir fried in a wok to soften the pearls. I thought the product would be very good, but the quality wasn't superior because of this cooking technique. My order was two drinks, a Supreme Pink Pear Green Tea and a Honey Jasmine Green Tea with brown sugar boba. The first was described as pink pear puree in a freshly brewed premium grade jasmine green tea. The second was simply freshly brewed premium grade jasmine green tea sweetened with pure honey. I did like the fresh fruit puree which added natural sweetness. If you are into collectibles, then you could purchase a $4.50 surprise cup that holds a Sanrio plushie inside a hollow compartment at the base. The cost could be well over $10 if you buy a drink with toppings and the surprise cup. I will likely return to try a mochi donut or two, but for my first visit to Bober Tea & Coffee, it was a three star level experience.

The interior has this fun sketchbook/coloring-book feel, almost like you're stepping into a drawing that came to life. They have some seasonal pumpkin drinks right now, so I tried the pumpkin cold brew and my friend got the pumpkin matcha. We actually came mainly for the pumpkin bagel, but unfortunately it was already sold out when we got there around 9:30 AM. So if that's what you're coming for, I'd definitely recommend getting there early! I'll have to come back and try it next time. Overall, such a cute spot for a coffee run and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Love this place…read more Got the pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese and it didn't disappoint. Alot of pumpkin flavor and the pumpkin cream cheese perfectly flavored and not overly sweet. So delicious. The pumpkin cookie butter latte also very smooth and delicious. Lots of pumpkin flavor and still taste the coffee. So so good. The mocha latte is always a good option I don't like mushrooms so I didn't like the mushroom empanada but the crust was flaky and delicious.
