Old diner feel with welcoming staff. Ernesto our server is a professional. We ordered the double classic and OH BOY was it big. The French fries were hot a delicious. You can tell that the oil they fry these in is changed regularly. The aroma of the burger and fries made my mouth water. Good ingredients make a big difference and this establishment cares. Cafe de Olla yes you read this correct. Organic coffee from Mexico served here. One of the best I have had. Joel thank you for checking on us and the rest of your diners. We will return. To the cooks in the kitchen a shout out to you for your cooking skills. We dont see you but you are greatly appreciated.

Was craving a double decker so brought the grandson. Parking is ample. We came in on Sunday. Fries were nice and crunchy. My double decker hit the spot. Our waitress was nice and quick. Great service always. The restaurant itself is such a gem. Clean and huge. The restrooms were clean. Staff are presentable and welcoming

Bob's Big Boy brings back so memories of growing up in Southern Californian in the 80s and 90s. The one I grew up going to closed many years ago. This Downey location has been on my list of to go to places. Ive heard mixed reviews so I was not in a complete rush to go here. This location has been used for many movies, commercials and tv shows. I kinda thought it was a tourist trap using that to keep busy. You know only going there because movie was filmed here. My son & I were in the area and decided to give it a try. When I walked in it was it was like I was transported back to my youth. Everything from the jut-box, booths, counter, stone wall and whole atmosphere was like back in the day. For a Saturday afternoon we seated immediately, so that was very impressive. Looking over the menu there were so many choices. I choose the triple decker turkey sandwich. It was AMAZING and their fries so hot and crispy. I will definitely be back in try breakfast.

Highly recommend a very old school style of restaurant with their designs but a fresh modern style menu with great food. Music plays at a great level the service amazing from Ms. Liz. Breakfast looked amazing but great call on the buffalo chicken sandwich with fresh ingredients and their own great tasting ranch. The burger was a great combination with the peppers slightly grilled so it still had a crunch and the complimenting elements of the bacon, cheese and bbq sauce was a balance like none other. Food games out hot and servers make sure your drink is never empty!

Pro Tip: Pay Cash and save 3.5%. What We Ordered: -Chili Spaghetti w/Garlic Bread and Onion Rings $21.98 -Super Big Boy $14.99 -Hot Fudge Cake Sundae $7.99 I've always wanted to visit Bob's Big Boy, and this location in Downey is the closest to me. We decided to give it a try, as my wife was in the mood for a diner, which is rare for her. She ordered the Chili Spaghetti, which I thought was a bit bland, but she really enjoyed it, adding hot sauce for extra spice. The accompanying garlic bread was good, and she upgraded to onion rings, which were great, with a delicious beer batter. I opted for the Super Big Boy, a double cheeseburger with their homemade relish sauce, and it was a solid burger that I would definitely order again! The fries were seasoned well and crispy. We wanted a classic diner dessert and chose the Hot Fudge Cake Sundae with vanilla ice cream. It was made to order by our waitress and was the perfect end to our meal, covered in hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. I really liked the diner's decor, especially the Big Boy rotating on the roof! We would definitely come back, maybe with our son next time.

Another delicious breakfast at Bobs Big Boy, simple yet hearty... our cups of coffee ( though weather temps were hot ) never underflowed. Our hospitable waitress kept our area clean and checked in if we needed anything more.... We sat by the window overlooking the parking lot and sidewalk.... Twas a very nice and enjoyable breakfast with family...

I love the convenience of a drive thru! This nostalgic spot doesn't disappoint. It tastes like my childhood. I got the classic combo. Perfectly delicious!

Well let's start haven't been here in a mint. Didn't do a review before so this my first review on a classic. We were greeted by one of the wait staff to be seated... nice how to start customer service. We pick a table the decor is 60s 70ish great picture of the original residence of this establishment Harvey's broiler and a picture of the original bobs big boy I ordered Super Big boy comes with salad and fries or onion rings oh I was told that the onion rings are made in house so when they run out they run out. Nice Also order appetizer chili fries. Chili is bomb mixes well with the fries My wife got quesabirria tacos looks good to her. Love the atmosphere has music going from old school to a Lil modern. Sing a long while eating...right!? Birria tacos are bomb taco shell dipped with the consumé on the side not spicy but a small kick. Served with rice my wide loves the corn added into it taste great. Wow the super big boy is a thin Patty 4 x 4 but packed well with cheese and the works onion rings totally worth it definitely in house not packaged. Lynn great customer service a wait staff you can actually call a waitress social knowledgeable and ol school friendly. This place rocks If your a ol schooler this is a nice place to feast if your a younger this will give you some history and how good food is made and served Price to product = 8 Atmosphere = 8 Customer service = 9 Plating = 8 Food taste = 8 Cleanliness = 9 I recommend this place

This place never disappoints. The restaurant was so clean and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was on point and brought back some nostalgia. My family used to frequent Bobs Big Boy when they were easy to find. Nowadays they are almost all gone. We ordered the Big Boy Combos! Delicious food and served nice and hot. The salad was crispy cold and the bleu cheese dressing was delicious and tasted as I always remembered.

Whenever my family go to LA, we drive through Downey just to go to a Bob's Big Boy. This location always seems to hit the spot when it comes to reminiscing, about being back in the 80s and prior. The waitress was very kind and professional, & did a super job modifying any requests for the burger. I've eaten here a few times, and I think I come back mainly for the brownie fudge ice cream cake. I don't understand why the fudge is so delicious topped with the whipped cream, and extra cherries! The environment is fun, I love the old jukebox in the back that plays music all the way from the 60s, to the 80s ! Think there were a few 90s in there too. Records.

    Is there outdoor seating?

Yes there is . Under the carports that aren't used anymore

Is car hop service available now? If not, when?

You can take your food outside but I don't think there is service out there

Is car hop service open now?

No, only drive thru. But you can still park and eat in the parking lot, once you get your food.

My family found out the cookie Sunday is back. When we went to go get it we were told that you guys are out of the cookies. We just want to know when is it coming back because that's what keeps us coming?

They constantly run out of their dessert items when I go. Sometimes it's the cookie other times the pecan bun or pecan ice cream. You just have to go and hope you get what you want.

Why did you guys get rid of the cookie Sunday? My family would come at least 2 times a week at night and we would order at least 2 if not 3 of them. Also, when we walk out there was a lot of people ordering them so I believe they were selling a lot?

We are being forced to find a new cookie supplier. As soon as we do the sundae will be back. Thanks for your question…

Is there still a classic car meet on Wednesday nights?

I'm not sure it's on Wednesday but I know they still have them ...

Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. This should be Zero Stars Very Disappointing Fourth Visit…read more My fourth visit was by far my worst. The Grizzly Plate came with over-hard eggs instead of the basted eggs I ordered, and the pork sausage patty was undercooked and poorly formed. The air conditioning was also not working, making the restaurant uncomfortable. The two plates provided for sharing were dirty, and one had what appeared to be a kitchen date-marking sticker. The manager offered no apology, took the plates, and promised replacements that never arrived. Replacement eggs took about five minutes after I reported the overcooking. The billing was also concerning. Two mimosas were listed at $8.99 each, but the tropical mimosa was charged at $10.89, plus an additional $3.89 passion syrup fee. Although the server said she would correct the bill, she returned with a non-itemized version, making the changes impossible to verify. Overall, the food, cleanliness, service, pricing, and management response were disappointing. I left very unsatisfied and would not recommend this diner or readily return.

But none of the guys are asking to go back there. And I don't imagine they will. The service was excellent. An older lady we joked has probably been there since George was the busboy, but that is not fair, she's only in her 50s or 60s.
