Nestled in a shopping center next to a busy Asian place and a Jersey Mike's, Boca Fish House is perhaps at first glance, unassuming. Once you step foot inside, the decor is nautical and on-point. This was a Friday evening with friends for dinner. It was the first time being there for all of us. It is located in a plaza with plenty of parking but not obvious to be seen. It is a small venue so you need to make a reservation at least two weeks in advance during the winter season when so many snowbirds are in town. Samantha was our lovely waitress who took care of us. They do have a limited bar. Cocktails and martinis are basically out of a can. But they do have wine. The menu is beautiful. All the fish items are very fresh and portions are generous. To start they included warmed crusty bread and an interesting and delicious pesto parmesan dip on the table. We shared a lovely bowl of mussels the others had a Caesar salad. I had the rare tuna mixed with veggies and lo mein which was delicious. The others raved about their dishes as well. Paul has the swordfish, and our friends had the stuffed shrimp and snapper. My husband and I have been regulars at BFH. We have sent many friends to dine there. Amy, did not handle this situation well. She said "dine at our bar" which had reservation signs on it. Our first visit to Boca Fish House was an unexpected surprise. We wanted to try a new place in town, so I did a little research on Yelp and found this gem. Tucked into an unassuming strip mall next to a sub shop and a sushi joint you will find Boca Fish House. A cozy, clean, five star seafood restaurant that doesn't disappoint. We started our dining off with the mussels appetizer. Fresh made, steaming hot in a rosemary, white wine garlic sauce, that you better finish off as a soup because it's so damn good. Next, came our mains. I had the shellfish pan roast and my girlfriend had the herb crusted swordfish, perfection delivered with the right level of care from our fantastic, attentive servers. Then we finished off the evening with a big slice of chocolate cake. From start to finish this cozy restaurant exceeded our expectations and we're delighted to say, we'll be back. You could walk past this place daily and never notice it. Hidden just west of a large Publix. A very small restaurant which shares outdoor tables with two other venues. Superb lobster bisque. I'm withholding 5 stars because the menu while imaginative is limited. Do they have specials? We were not told. Some of the taste choices are a bit strange. If I just wanted my yellowtail snappper charred with mashed potatoes would they accommodate me? I'm not sure. Presentations excellent. It is a fish restaurant ergo a bit pricey. Why it has taken us over two years to find this strip mall gem baffles me! We are always on the hunt for a restaurant that executes fish dishes really well, and that's what you get at Boca Fish House. We dined here on May 23 for my mother-in-law's birthday and will definitely return sooner than later. Our reservations were on the early side so I can't speak to the volume of the restaurant as there was only another couple in the restaurant; however, the space is intimate and the volume could be louder than average when at capacity. Our table was comfortable and we had plenty of space for the bread, appetizer, and main courses. My wife and I started with their crab cake as an appetizer, something I rarely do since many are stuffed with filling rather than crab; but knowing the pedigree of the chef and on recommendation from our server, I took a chance. A chance that paid off handsomely! This crab cake was LOADED with fresh crab! There was little to no filler and chunks of crab rolled off as we put our fork into it! A definite item to try if you are a crab cake lover! My mother-in-law selected the Sautéed Chilean Sea Bass with potato gnocchi, roasted garlic, mushrooms, teardrop tomatoes, and baby spinach, with a white wine lemon butter sauce for her main course. Not one that often strays from ordering mahi, she was delighted with this dish. Taking her time to savor every bite of this extraordinary dish. My wife ordered the Shellfish Pan Roast including lobster, jumbo shrimp, giant sea scallops, mussels, and clams, with a brandy tomato tarragon cream sauce and crispy capellini cake. She loved this dish. This was one of two recommendations by the server, stating that this is one of the chef's favorites. My father-in-law and I ordered the same main, the Blackened Yellow Tail Snapper with sauteed shrimp, black mussels, mixed nuts, heirloom tomatoes, yellow curry coconut cream, and a fried rice cake with avocado butter. When I asked our server for underrated dishes, this was the first one she recommended, which I had my eye on already. The nuts are an interesting touch and they appeared to be almonds, peanuts, and maybe macadamia nuts. If you have a nut allergy confirm this in advance. The flavors on this dish just keep coming and coming. A deft hand-created this dish, the sauce is the perfect complement to the fresh snapper and doesn't take the main stage, just the perfect hint of heat follows in the background. The fish was expertly prepared and flaked accordingly. The mussels and shrimp were moist and plump and just right, also complemented just right with the curry. Boca Fish House has earned our business and we are excited to return. Reservations are highly recommended and at the current time, it looks like you must call for a reservation as we have not found them on the reservation apps. read more

The only thing not small about this place is the flavor they packed into every dish. WOW is all I can say. First time eating here and wasn't thrilled about the location but once I saw the menu I was in. We tried 3 different dishes. The Swordfish, the Grouper and the Chilean Sea Bass. All of them were exceptional. Perfect cook, beautiful plating and flavors & aromas that popped. The portions felt large but it was so delicious we finished all the dishes (normally we always have a bag to bring home). We didn't save room for desert but then our waitress let us know the chefs spouse does all the baking in house so we "forced" ourselves to share a key lime pie. It was fantastic. Last night we had An amazing dinner at Boca Fish House, west Boca on palmetto park and power line. In between Publix and Jimmy Johns. A sea food lovers paradise. Owner chef, Daniel Cournoyer former chef and proprietor of Blue Moon, personally prepares each dish. Our server said no one cooks but him. If you plan on going make reservations. Insider only has 4 tables seating a total of 20, another 4 tables outside and 6 stools at the wine bar. It's a small menu, one meat and one chicken main coarse, the rest is amazing fish and seafood I started with an amazing crab cake, light, no filler and made to order. the only soup was lobster bisque, loaded with small pieces of lobster, as good if not better then I've ever tasted. I had the sweet potato crusted grouper. Moist in an amazing sauce. My wife had Lump crusted Mahi Mahi which she said was the best sea bass she ever had. She described it as having a crab cake on top of the fish. My picky cousin had the pan seared jumbo scallops. She reported they were perfectly prepared. My other cousin, also picky, enjoyed the pan seared yellowtail snapper served in a cast iron pan. It looked and smelled wonderful. I plan on ordering this dish next time. Deserts are created by chef Daniel's pastry chef wife. We shared a light not to sweet 4 layer chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and frosting. What a great evening! On a whim...we decided to give Boca Fish House a try. We weren't sure we'd be able to get a table as we didn't make reservations. When we arrived Amy quickly greeted us and offered us a table right away. Once sat, we were formally greeted by Amy and got our drink order taken. From there, we ordered the muscles which were Stellar! They were plump and super fresh tasting. For our dinner...we ordered the yellow tail snapper and swordfish. Both dishes we seasoned perfectly and tasted Amazing! Lastly, we closed the evening out with a raspberry crème brûlée...which may have been the show stopper of the evening. Found great reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try while in the area on vacation. I have family in the area that have never been as well. The restaurant is located in a strip mall type setting so just be aware of that. The seating inside is very limited and there are table outside but in the walkway area of plaza/mall. This was really the only downside because the food was great. We each tried a different dish menu item and every dish was excellent. Also important to know is that they only have a beer/wine liquor license. Fine for us but important to some so I think I should mention it. My cousins said they would go again because they really liked the menu for fish only items. read more

Came to Boca Fish House the other night for dinner with friends. I scored through reviews prior to going and decided that I wanted to order the PEI Mussels and the Mahi Mahi Mixed Grill. Unfortunately they changed the menu a bit and I was unable to order exactly what I wanted. The PEI Mussels were still on the menu and they were AMAZING! Seriously some of the best mussels I have ever had. The sauce really is phenomenal like everyone's reviews note. I just wish there was more bread to soak up the sauce with once you are done with the muscles. The dish only comes with a sliver of crusty bread. For my entree, the Mahi dish I wanted wasn't available. Instead I went with the blackened yellowtail snapper. I was between that and the sweet potato encrusted grouper. To be honest I was not a fan of the snapper. The dish was a bit over seasoned. Way too much going on with the blackened seasoning, coconut curry sauce, avocado salsa garnish, and mixed nuts. I had my husband try it too and he wasn't a fan either. Everyone else enjoyed their entrees, so I think I just would get something else next time. For dessert we got the key lime pie. It was good, but not great. I would order a different dessert in the future. Overall Boca Fish house has the potential for an amazing meal, I just picked the wrong things this time around. read more

Magnificent experience from start to finish. First contact was by email to see if we could bring our own vino and what the corkage fee would be. Chef Daniel himself promptly responded and advised $15. So very reasonable. Made reservations as suggested and glad that we did. Very busy on a Thursday night. Greeted warmly by Destiny who escorted us to our table for two. The interior has really been beautifully updated since the French restaurant closed. Destiny quickly determined what type of stemware would needed for our wine, flawlessly opened it and we were off to a good start. I would describe the menu as tight, which I like. 8 apps, 3 salads, 10 entrees and, one special. I am always leery of menus that go on for several pages since it is virtually impossible to do some many things well. As we were contemplating our choices Destiny brought out two Baguettes right from the oven and an interesting pesto for dipping. Really wonderful. For an app we decided on the Charbroiled Spanish Octopus which was to die for. Served with tiny fingerling potatoes, roasted tomatoes and chorizo. Highly recommend! My wife had the Sweet Potato Crusted Grouper which she claimed was the best grouper she ever had. I sampled it and would have to agree. I chose the Shrimp and Clam Tagliatelle which was equally as delicious. Plenty of good size shrimp and clams over delicate Tagliatelle in a beautiful white wine butter sauce. It came topped with crostini with cheese and micro greens. Nice presentation. No room for desert. Must say there is magic coming out of the kitchen and, like another Yelper said, this gem won't be a well kept secret for long. Chef Daniel is a master in the kitchen and Destiny expertly takes care of the customers in the dining room and outside. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. Rather than offer an alternative my wife was told to choose another entree. . She finally relented and offered tasteless mashed potatoes which was an appropriate accompaniment for the tasteless nearly raw shrimp. My wife asked for drawn butter and was given a thimble full 10 minutes later. My seared tuna was swimming in soy sauce. While the fish was good I was afraid to check my blood pressure after the meal. Why hide a good piece of fish in a salt bath? Finally, the ambiance was not what I expected. The fire marshall would have had a stroke if he had seen the number of people jammed into the space. I love seafood but it's so hard to either find a proper balance between the cost of the meal and the taste. It seems like in Boca you have to go expensive and fancy to get a decent seafood meal. Not any more as long as this place is around. We went for the Pan Roast and the blackened Mahi. Both dishes had exceptionally delicious sauces. This is a good restaurant in an unexpected place, the deep corner of a plaza not known for its fine dining. It's good to have something nice in west Boca. We had the sea bass and the grouper. Both were perfectly cooked with nice accompaniments. We also had a nice beet salad. The wine list is more than ample. Service was good. The atmosphere was nice. My girlfriends took me for lunch for my birthday and everything was really good! I had shrimp and gnocchi. Being of Italian descent I can't pass them up.
