The woman at the counter who has helped me many times In the past, was very pleasant and answered my many extensive questions about the menu. I decided on the chowder, fish taco, and ceviche. The chowder was ok, could have been thicker but it tasted fine. The fish taco was incredible and is definitely worth stopping for, had alot of flavor and was very filling! the ceviche had abalone In it which was very cool and was super tasty and fresh. Stopped at Bodega Bay Oyster on our way into town because we needed to use the restroom, and it ended up being a great little stop. They have a good selection of snacks and drinks for the beach, plus some cute gifts, sweaters, and shirts. I especially liked their little logo, really cute beach town vibe. The employee didn't really say much and just rang us up, but the store was clean, the bathroom was clean, and they had lots of fun things to look at while stopping in. My wife and I stopped by Bodega Bay Oyster company spontaneously on the way to Bodega Bay. We pulled up at just the right time as their Happy Hour specials were just starting. The Happy Hour deals -- which is offered everyday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., simply can't be beat: $2 raw oysters, $3 grilled oysters, $5 crostinis, $4 bread and $8 beer and wine. We got an order of the crostinis along with two raw and two baked oysters. The kitchen here works quickly because our order was ready in no more than 10 minutes. The raw oysters come with their house mignonette and hot sauce and is served over a large mound of crushed ice. The type of oyster you get when ordering from their Happy Hour menu rotates daily but I forgot to note down which ones we had tried during our visit. The raw oysters were very fresh and came clean of shell fragments, but the connective muscle was still connected to the shell. The baked oyster was drowning in butter and packed a ton of flavor. Between the raw and baked, it's too hard to choose a favorite; I would recommend getting both. If you're ordering more than a few baked oysters, you'll probably want to get some bread to dip into the leftover butter. The crostinis we got were nicely toasted and was generously topped with jam and cheese. The crostinis are on the sweeter side so if you don't have a sweet tooth, it might be better to stick to their savory items. Overall, Bodega Bay Oyster Company is definitely worth a visit if you're on your way to Bodega Bay, either for a quick snack, picking up some fresh oysters to go, or just to stop by for a small driving break. This place has been in my bookmarks for many years now. Never really got a chance to visit until recently. The inside of the store is cool, they have u ordering on one part of the restaurant then you sit on the other part of the restaurant. The place was sorta empty when we went, around a Saturday afternoon. Prices are pretty expensive for oysters (in my opinion) but are fresh and delicious. The place also didn't feel too cozy, maybe because it was just us in there so we kinda ate quick and left. If you are okay with these prices I think it would be a cool place to check out for the variety of oysters and freshness. read more

Absolute disgusting experience yesterday, resulting in my husband and I needing to leave this establishment immediately. My husband and I came by yesterday around 1pm to purchase oysters. When we walked in, the female cashier was not friendly as we entered. As we came closer to look at the menu, the cashier was eating, putting food in her mouth. I thought that was pretty gross, for someone handling food and monetary transactions with customers. She continues to put more food in her mouth, then proceeds to start cleaning her teeth out with a toothpick. By this point, I want to throw up. As my husband is looking at the menu and starts ordering food, I point out what the cashier is doing and we immediately leave the establishment. I will absolutely not go back to this place after what my husband and I witnessed. This was incredibly unhygienic and unsanitary on every level. read more

They sell accoutrements in cute little glass jars for $5, as well as branded merch and gifts. Service was quick on both visits. Dropped in this afternoon for some oysters to go off busy Valley Ford Road. There are two sides to the establishment: the left is the restaurant side, the right seems more for takeaway. I was going to order a half dozen Kumamoto oysters when I saw a small handwritten sign with the words "happy hour." Happy hour always makes me happy. This was no exception as the oysters are $2 from 3:00 - 5:00 Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 - 6:00 Friday to Saturday. Score! I got eight shucked Atlantic oysters which came nicely presented on ice accompanied with lemon, mignonette sauce and a hot sauce. The taste was clean with a hint of brine, and although the shells were quite deep the oysters themselves were more on the flat side. I prefer a just squeeze of lemon (and I like to watch them squirm before I eat them, sadistic I know) however the mignonette sauce had fresh ingredients and added some texture. Sorry to say this was not a great experience. Stopped by on our way to camping in Bodega bay to grab some oysters to shuck at our campsite and share with friends. The first oyster I had was milky and nasty. It took an hour to get the foul taste out of my mouth, then spent half the next day running to the toilet. Never had this experience from Hog Island. The rest of the oysters seemed ok but not great. Just glad I was the Guinea pig and my kids didn't eat the nasty one. read more

We tried it for the first time today. We sat outside and ordered two types of the grilled oysters. Service was amazing. Everyone was friendly helpful and engaging. The oysters were just okay though. We got garlic butter and achiote butter. They were tiny oysters, unshucked so hard to eat, and really greasy. We will try it again since the reviews are so good. Maybe raw is the way to go. Brought my parents here and they enjoyed the oysters with my husband and I. They don't have the Japanese BBQ oysters which I enjoyed, so I got the baked Rockefeller and roasted garlic lemon butter, both very good. Definitely a must stop along the way to the coast. Great customer service!! It was a sunny day, so we sat outside in the sun. They have many picnic tables with shade options as well. We ordered 1/2 dozen extra small Miyagi and 1/2 dozen Belon. this is my second time here and it is still my favorite place for oysters, we came this time for a birthday party and it was ended up be the best plan, the place is huge they have a lot of tables outside to accommodate large parties, they even provide us with trash cans, and some other tools for the oysters, they do have indoor sitting in case you need it, also we try a few things from their menu and the clam chowder and tuna sandwich were delicious, drinks also were yum, they have siders and cab wine also very good. Just a quick update about BYOB. In their FAQ, they say no outside food or beverages are allowed, however on a recent trip there was a sign offering corkage for $15, which suggests to me that perhaps bringing outside wine is allowed, provided you pay the corkage fee. If you're planning to do this, it's probably best to call and confirm first. Other than that, nothing much has changed about this place. The best value is still to buy the oysters closed and to bring your own shucker and mignonette/condiments. $16/dozen for XS miyagis and $22/dozen for kumamotos as of Jan 2025. read more

California Miyaki, Kumamoto, Atlantic, and Belon oysters were all very fresh, tasty and unique in their own ways. Will definitely spend a bit more to buy Belon next time. The oysters are very meaty and clean after we clean, shack and rinse with salt water. The staff was very friendly. We asked quite a lot of questions with th different types and she patiently answered us. She knows her oysters. Will definitely come back to try the clams and mussels. They were sold out. Great stop on the way back to the city after a long day of hiking! Right when you get in, you're invited into a cute souvenir store and the counter to order your food. We arrived around 2PM on a Saturday, and we were surprised that a couple of things had already sold out. We ordered for dine-in, although you can order oysters to-go with a shucking set to shuck your own oysters. We had small miyagi, Kumamoto, and Olympia oysters, as well as the Japanese bbq and I think the lemon butter grilled oysters. We also got some garlic bread and shrimp tacos to share. Quality of oysters is always great and worth the 2 hour drive. However, customer service is unfortunately lacking. We usually pick up our bag of oysters and picnic outside and mind our own business. There has been more than 1 visit with unpleasant interactions with staff. I usually don't complain but the most recent visit is the last straw. The front register staff are usually pleasant at the bare minimum, not personable but will check you out without hassle. The dining staff in the back however are rude. They don't like to be approached or bothered. They are not friendly, and just give you attitude and dirty looks. For those that are planning to visit, just be prepared for a mixed inconsistent type of customer service but the oysters are still phenomenal. read more

Great quality oysters! We each did the 6 piece raw oyster taster plate which comes with 1 of each type of oyster with some condiments. It came all shucked and the service was fast. I love that they also have a little market where you can buy cheese/cold meats/wine/canned fish/etc. and eat them with your oysters. There's seating inside and picnic tables outside as well. Since I left Trillium I've picked up their oysters for special events like the prostate awareness foundation spring retreat and the event coming up over the weekend- Oyster Obsession and Bivalve Bingo that's happening at Woodenhead winery. I came in on 11/11/24 around 9:30am and got 50 piece of the small miyagi oysters and 24 piece of the medium miyagi oysters. They were all fresh and delicious! I also purchased a pair of their gloves ($10) and shucker tool ($20). However, I noticed that after using the shucker tool to shuck all the 50 oysters, it chipped. I'm bummed out by it because the tool was expensive! The tool was great and I was able to open my oysters for the family but just sad that upon my first time using it, it chipped. Ordered a dozen for there so shucked... we got it essentially all shoved into a to go box as we were sitting outside enjoying a beer and cider we purchased there. None and I repeat none of the oysters were actually shucked. They were just served with the top shell off... we went and got a knife to shuck them ourselves. I bunch from the top shell being removed from had a bunch of shell parts in them. Not to mention the staff barely even acknowledged we existed. Would expect a better experience in general here. Had some tasty oysters from here, I am not an oyster person but my family that did enjoy it loved them. So def go for the raw oysters! I myself and some other family members had the cooked oysters and some other items since we didn't want raw oysters. These were quite overpriced and tasted quite OK. The garlic butter oysters were quite delicious and well seasoned whereas the Japanese flavored ones were way too salty. We also got garlic bread (meh), shrimp tacos (way too much sauce and few shrimp), salmon bagels (standard), and clam chowder (too thick and overpowered by black pepper). We got the bbq oyster sampler with three "Japanese" and three "tequila lime" for $22 plus the small clam chowder for $14. The menu said the "Japanese" one was flavored with potato chips and green onion, but it was more like a sweet teriyaki sauce. My mom who is Japanese and from Japan said it didn't taste Japanese at all. I wasn't sure to be offended or not. The bbq oyster sampler ultimately did not impress. The tequila lime was more on the sour side with no hint of tequila, and I think it would have been better for the restaurant to just offer plain grilled oysters. We've done them on the grill ourselves in the past and we wanted something that would at the very least be one step better than what we could do on our own. The clam chowder was a bit pink with the bacon and paprika. Again we were hoping for something different and interesting with the price but the soup was just a bit odd. Although I liked the gift shop, and the location, this establishment does not take its oyster shucking and serving seriously. Ranging $21-24 for half dozen oysters on half shelf, the oysters come w only Frank's hot sauce and a little of mignonette and quarter pieces of lemon. Large forks provided instead of oyster eating sized forks so can't get oysters out of shelf especially since they do not properly shuck them so they do not slide off. Oysters are not sitting in their natural oyster juice and are instead completely dry in shell and at room temperature when arrives to table. Oysters were not the freshest either and visible guts are dark brown. Seems quality is less important as they cater to tourists and do well due to location. read more

It was quite a nice place, it's like a oyster bar inside people sitting here having oysters and beer, really chill. I thought barbecue oysters might be too salty to me, the Japanese style BBQ oysters are a little bit too salty, they added some crunchiness in which is good adding different texture, but overall it might be just cooked for a little bit too long. But if you like cooked oysters and no 'sea' taste , definitely a place to check out. read more

I'm not even an oyster person and I really enjoyed Bodega Bay Oyster Company! My husband wanted to come here for some raw oysters and clams. They didn't have clams due to the storms/weather that hit California in January, but we were informed they typically always have clams. My husband was struggling to shuck one of his oysters in their outdoor seating area when an employee came outside and helped him out. It was such a unexpected and extremely generous gesture. I feel like it's such a rarity to find genuinely kind people, and it really made my day. While perusing their Yelp page, I realized they also prepared grilled oysters (sold as six oysters on the half shelf. They also sell other items like chowder and tacos). Even though I typically dislike eating oysters, I figured I may as well try those while waiting for my husband to eat his raw ones. I ordered their taster plate so I could try each of the three various ways they flavored their grilled oysters: Poblano Crema, Thai Chile Lime, and Lemon Garlic Butter. Each were delicious! The flavors were really good and the texture had none of that slime that I hate when I've tried oysters other times. Highly recommend Bodega Bag Oyster Company for their above and beyond customer service and excellent oysters. Even if you don't like oysters, I'd recommend giving their grilled ones a try! read more
