Roasted garlic lemon butter + Rockefeller
    Justine T.

Ordered 1/2 dozen of their roasted garlic lemon butter and 1/2 dozen of their baked Rockefeller to share. The oysters were fresh, clean, decently sized, not gritty or overcooked, but if I had to choose my favorite was their roasted garlic lemon butter oysters Roasted Garlic Lemon Butter - we enjoyed these oysters the most and liked the garlic flavors and citrus taste from the lemon. The sauce mixture didn't overpower the oyster and was well-balanced Baked Rockefeller - if anything all we really tasted was spinach and didn't notice any bacon pieces and if so it prob got lost in all of the spinach that it was nowhere to be found. The breadcrumbs weren't crisp and was an afterthought too Service could be improved on as we weren't acknowledged when entering (we were the only ones in there at the time and lowkey felt quiet/awkward), the person who delivered our oysters was friendly though. Many different ways you can order oysters and they have different sizes too which is a plus. They have a little gift shop area and tables to sit at indoors or outdoors. If I were in the area, I wouldn't mind stopping here again but it wouldn't be my go-to. I'd prob try out other versions of their oysters and pass up on the Rockefeller next time.

My wife and I stopped by Bodega Bay Oyster company spontaneously on the way to Bodega Bay. We pulled up at just the right time as their Happy Hour specials were just starting. The Happy Hour deals -- which is offered everyday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., simply can't be beat: $2 raw oysters, $3 grilled oysters, $5 crostinis, $4 bread and $8 beer and wine. We got an order of the crostinis along with two raw and two baked oysters. The kitchen here works quickly because our order was ready in no more than 10 minutes. The raw oysters come with their house mignonette and hot sauce and is served over a large mound of crushed ice. The type of oyster you get when ordering from their Happy Hour menu rotates daily but I forgot to note down which ones we had tried during our visit. The raw oysters were very fresh and came clean of shell fragments, but the connective muscle was still connected to the shell. The baked oyster was drowning in butter and packed a ton of flavor. Between the raw and baked, it's too hard to choose a favorite; I would recommend getting both. If you're ordering more than a few baked oysters, you'll probably want to get some bread to dip into the leftover butter. The crostinis we got were nicely toasted and was generously topped with jam and cheese. The crostinis are on the sweeter side so if you don't have a sweet tooth, it might be better to stick to their savory items. Overall, Bodega Bay Oyster Company is definitely worth a visit if you're on your way to Bodega Bay, either for a quick snack, picking up some fresh oysters to go, or just to stop by for a small driving break. Drive slowly as you approach the location on your GPS because the storefront is quite easy to miss on the side of the road.

This place has been in my bookmarks for many years now. Never really got a chance to visit until recently. The inside of the store is cool, they have u ordering on one part of the restaurant then you sit on the other part of the restaurant. The place was sorta empty when we went, around a Saturday afternoon. Prices are pretty expensive for oysters (in my opinion) but are fresh and delicious. The place also didn't feel too cozy, maybe because it was just us in there so we kinda ate quick and left. If you are okay with these prices I think it would be a cool place to check out for the variety of oysters and freshness.

Dropped in this afternoon for some oysters to go off busy Valley Ford Road. There are two sides to the establishment: the left is the restaurant side, the right seems more for takeaway. I was going to order a half dozen Kumamoto oysters when I saw a small handwritten sign with the words "happy hour." Happy hour always makes me happy. This was no exception as the oysters are $2 from 3:00 - 5:00 Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 - 6:00 Friday to Saturday. Score! I got eight shucked Atlantic oysters which came nicely presented on ice accompanied with lemon, mignonette sauce and a hot sauce. The taste was clean with a hint of brine, and although the shells were quite deep the oysters themselves were more on the flat side. I prefer a just squeeze of lemon (and I like to watch them squirm before I eat them, sadistic I know) however the mignonette sauce had fresh ingredients and added some texture. Service was quick and friendly. I would definitely come back!

Stopped here twice during our stay in Bodega Bay. During our first stop, we got a dozen unshucked Kumamoto oysters and today got 50 to take home. They sell accoutrements in cute little glass jars for $5, as well as branded merch and gifts. Service was quick on both visits. The oysters were given to us in plastic bags and on ice; they were easy to shuck and super fresh.

Dropped in for the oyster tasting and the happy hour "baked tequila oyster" and oh my, is this to die for. Give the baked oysters a try

Visited on a Tuesday and unfortunately the restaurant section was closed due to staffing shortage, but the woman working at the counter was very nice and even shucked the oysters we ordered while being the only person working!! Great customer service!! It was a sunny day, so we sat outside in the sun. They have many picnic tables with shade options as well. We ordered 1/2 dozen extra small Miyagi and 1/2 dozen Belon. Both were clearly very fresh and tasted good, but the Belon were the best oysters we have had in a while!! They come with 2 sauces, hot sauce and seasonal mignonette. You can order "to-go" and shuck them at home which is slightly cheaper and a nice experience!

Brought my parents here and they enjoyed the oysters with my husband and I. They don't have the Japanese BBQ oysters which I enjoyed, so I got the baked Rockefeller and roasted garlic lemon butter, both very good. Definitely a must stop along the way to the coast. Very clean restaurant and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Stopped here on the way to our friend's home in Bodega Bay where the owners always stop by when they are in the mood for purchasing oysters. This retail and wine tasting location provided us with our purchase of 50 Kumamotos and 12 large oysters for grilling. Shucking all of them when we got home was a team effort for all which ended up being a lot of fun. They have all the condiments one needs for your oysters from spices, hot sauces, etc. as well as retail logo merchandise. The store has a separate area where you can purchase wine and also seating should you decide to taste wines that are available.

Ask the Community - Bodega Bay Oyster

Can we bring our own mini grill and outside food to the picnic tables outside?

Hi Savanna! Yes, you can bring your own mini grill and outside food. However, no outside alcohol is allowed.

Can we grill our own chickens/steak at the bbq area??thank you

I don't think they allow people to use the grills. The staff grills the oysters here

    Are dogs allowed?

We allow dogs in the picnic area as long as they are leashed.

Thinking of coming by for lunch today are your workers in a good mood?

When I visited the workers were in a great mood. They were friendly and showed me how to shuck an oyster with an oyster shucker since I was struggling with a butter knife.

(Minus perhaps the crowded parking, which only speaks to the popularity of this place). I liked that you can order inside or outside at a kiosk. Came on a Saturday evening and wait time was about 15-20 minutes. You find your own table and wait to hear them call out your name for the order. I also liked that when you order a drink, you can pay $3 extra to keep a souvenir cup (and you can even request a new unused cup at the end too! So you don't have to worry about taking home a cup with remnants of beer or other beverages inside). The sauce bar has 5 different sauces, but my favorite was the Maui Wowie. I thought they all complemented the fish and chips really well! We got kale slaw instead of chips as the side, and it was a nice refreshing side to have -- it really cuts through the greasiness from the fry! I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried: clam chowder, fried fish, and crab sandwich. There's definitely other things on the menu I'd like to try as well! I also love all the merch they have inside. Hats, towels, aprons, shirts, etc...the design team really creates great designs! I went home with a tshirt and some magnets, along with a "fish dad" hat as a gift. As a pro tip, if you stay nearby at Hotel Dega, it's walkable distance and then you don't need to worry about parking!

We also ordered the clams and a half-dozen grilled oysters, both of which were highlights. We tried two orders of the "tin fish" options--the pickled oysters and the BBQ oysters--but I'd probably skip those next time; they weren't quite our favorite. It felt like the menu might have shrunk, but the core quality is still there. Really wish they add more sun umbrellas, especially for the smaller tables. Since it's entirely outdoor dining, a little extra shade would make the experience much more comfortable on a sunny day. Overall, a lovely spot to enjoy some of the best oysters around, just make sure you're prepared for the journey and the outdoor elements!
