Lunch at Fisherman's Cove was great start to a weekend road trip! Driving oceanside, you can't help but want a crab sandwich and fish and chips. That's what my boyfriend and I ordered, and were satisfied (not to mention fueled for our hike that afternoon). I agree with other reviews that say it's pricey for what you get, but you'll still have a satisfying meal. The crab sandwich is real fresh, I kinda wish they toasted the bread, but would still recommend it. It came with a few slices of carrot that seemed random IMO, but still ate it. Also, you can't go wrong with the fish and chips! Service was straight-forward - you order and pay at the counter, then take your number to seat where your food is delivered. Most people were sitting outside on the benches, which is where you wanna be, especially on a sunny day with a view of the water. But there are also chairs and tables inside. Parking can be tight around here. The lot outside the restaurant is very small, and the street/back parking signs can be confusing. Every once in a while, I go to a restaurant that knows how to do it. This was one of those places. It's not the fanciest place, but it's perfect for a fishing town. They have seating inside and outside. My mother had been craving fried oysters so I took her here. For some reason, not many places have fried oysters. I think this was the only place in the Bodega Bay area. Not sure why that is. Anyway, the oysters were 5 stars for my mom. They came with a dipping sauce. I think it was the garlic aioli. I ordered the chicken sandwich special that comes with chipotle aioli. I traded that for the garlic aioli. It was loaded with thin slices of chicken breast. I'm not sure what type of bread they used, but it was perfect for the sandwich. When we first ordered, it was Ash who took our order. He's so energetic and friendly. He is part of what makes this place special. They have an attention to detail and service that reminds of the Garden Cafe in San Rafael. This was a very enjoyable stop, and I loved everything about it. The restaurant is located across the marina. Inside, the place has a seafood shack vibe - nothing fancy, a little rustic but very comfortable. When we arrived, it was busy, and although the small parking lot was full, we were able to find street parking behind the restaurant. The line moved quickly, and although they offered a variety of seafood, we were there for the fish and chips and the clam chowder. This place rakes in the money! And for good reason! Fresh seafood is one of this rarities that so many people travel to have. Even with the advent of restaurants and shipping technology, there is something so special about having seafood miles from where it was caught. This is one of a few places that come highly recommended in Bodega Bay. The staff are constantly working, taking and pushing out orders. Any to-go materials are available inside. We sat outside in the nice weather with our dog. No dogs allowed inside but there are some tables indoors too. There was a huge line, likely common on the weekends. You order inside, pay, they give you a number and then they bring the food out to you. Plenty of seating inside and outside. We had the following: 12 Oysters on a half shell $38.46 Crab sandwich $29.11 Lobster roll $29.11 Calamari & chips $19.75 Fish & chips $20.79 I know these prices look different from the menu pictures I posted! It was raining so we sought refuge here. We started with the prawns and chips ($19). The prawns are good in size. They're lightly battered - light and fluffy with a nice crisp. Naturally, we ordered oysters - sweet heaters ($22 for a dozen). Sweet heaters are topped with jalapeños + shallots. They were very okay. Oysters can do without toppings unless it's some sort of dressing or marinade. The jalapeños and shallots did very little to enhance the oysters. I'd skip this one. I also ordered the lobster roll ($28). The hoagie roll is dressed with mayo and is filled with garlic butter lobster. It's good! But greasy. And oily. And I didn't love the hoagie roll. Hoagies are more suited for sandwiches, but I felt like it didn't do the lobster justice. Lots of indoor seating for rainy days. After checking out the local restaurant reviews we figured the Fisherman's Cove was the best bet. The restaurant has a small parking lot, but main road parking is available. The menu is on the wall and walk up ordering, then take a number. The restaurant itself has a true nautical look which would be expected. It's a very casual dining room with outdoor seating. Our food was delivered quickly in spite of being lunch time. We both had fish and chips, although my wife had cod and I opted for the halibut for $6.00 more. We wanted to see the difference. Both platters were cooked w well and lightly battered, hot and crispy. My halibut was flaky as it should be but the cod was just as good. I wouldn't spend the extra next time. In this we got fish and chips and a crab sandwich. Let me start off with the supposed star of the show which is the crab sandwich. This sandwich is soooo small, it's flavorful a little too runny though for what I thought it'd be making my bread soggy, but holy... For $28 you'd expect more. Our sandwich was a fist and a half in size if you can imagine that by comparison. Maybe it's because it's off crab season, but with that size there's so many better options than this sandwich. 2.5/5* Fish and chips were decent, they surprisingly had a huge portion of fish here for $20, but our fish was so oily, like after it came out and we tore into it and the bottom was soggy oily. We got 1 cup or tartar sauce for 3 pieces of white fish; it's 50 cents per cup of you want more. Honestly, the best thing we ate here were the french fries, perfectly crispy and super flavorful definitely better than the other 2 we tried beforehand. 5/5 fries, 2/5 fish. Overall, not the best experience here maybe if you want to try the crab sandwich come during crab season, but for me I can't say I'd come back. read more

AUG2025 We've been in a few times a year. Easy place for pickup for us and our activities going into the Bodega Bay area. One thing of improvement over the years that's been a huge help is the website and online ordering. We've been able to do our orders that way rather than brave lines and quick access to the menu. We would use it while we're just driving through ourselves, but when friends are visiting with little kids and all anything to make it easier is great. On a side note, we've also tried the fish and chips recently which were also fresh and crispy. The white fish tasted fresh. Besides Fishetarian, Fisherman's Cove is another casual seafood place I would recommend for lunch in Bodega Bay. Its located in a more remote section of the bay and usually has lines out the door on a weekend. Luckily, it moves fast and there's plenty of seating inside. One thing I did enjoy was that their menu is broader than Fishetarian's, since they include Po-Boys, Crab Sandwiches, and even a Chicken Sandwich. We ordered: 1. Fried Halibut and Chips (5 stars) - thick, hot and crispy. Excellent dish and surprising not super oily nor greasy. 2. Grilled Fish and Chips (4 starts) - this was a custom order, and it came out pretty good. Fishetarian's version is better IMHO but our 5-you son enjoyed this too, and he's usually not a big fish person. 3. I recommend sampling both the clam chowder and the Portuguese Fish Stew. 4. Grilled Cheese Sandwich is usually our backup option in case our son declines the main dishes, but we wound up eating most of it. He loved the Granny Smith apples though. Came here with my fam in a cold but sunny November weather. Typical weather in the Bay. Although it was cold, we sat outside and ate our seafood soup (truly chef's kiss), our lobster sandwich and a dozen oysters. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant has a great indoor sitting area, big enough to accommodate multiple groups. It's self-serve so you order from the cashier and wait for your food to be served. So luckily, we did not have to wait in a long line. The person who took our order was super friendly and overall the staff was very kind. We ordered a dozen oysters, fish and chips and a bowl of clam chowder. The oysters were delicious and tasted very fresh. The clam chowder was also yummy and had a good serving of clams, it wasn't too thick too which was nice - perfect for the cold weather. The fish and chips though is where it was not too great, it lacked flavor and we had to use a lot of tartar sauce to eat it. The cleanliness could use improvement as the Tabasco and ketchup bottles were really dirty and did not seem like it was cleaned daily. The meat was piled high! I tasted it and the meat was tender fall apart juicy. This place knows their sauces they were all so good! They have all kinds of wine, beer & Gelato. There was only one other set of people eating and they were talking about how good everything was especially the oysters. I've never had them and since we had 4 more hours to drive I played it safe. It's a cute little town it would be a great place to hang out on the patio . Over all I'm so glad we went backwards to find this place. Bonus it was a perfect day, light misty rain so we ate inside. I've eaten a fair amount of lobster rolls throughout my life, and one bite of this made me in shock. Probably the best lobster roll I've ever had. Looks can be deceiving as I thought the roll would be hard, but it was pillowy soft while still toaster. The lobster and mayo were immaculate, plenty for the roll and so flavorful & juicy.
