So excited to have a true bacon, egg, and cheese within walking distance to home! Living in NY for a 11 yrs these things grow on trees. Every bodega you can get one, add salt, pepper, ketchup and life is right. Glad their version was on a hearty roll and not an overly buttery brioche bun. Super chill vibe inside on an early Sunday morning. Sunglasses and steaming coffee with a few parents struggling to keep the crumbs off their kids faces. The coffee was solid. Went exploring in Silverlake today and had to stop somewhere yummy for lunch and Bodega Park did not disappoint! My daughter and I split the chopped cheese which was oh so scrumptious and then also shared the fried chicken wings which I wish we had more of! They were perfectly crispy and not greasy with spectacular flavoring. I cannot wait to go back! She also had the bodega vanilla iced and said it was very good! When we got there, it was pretty busy and there was not a single table available so I was worried we were not going to have anywhere to sit. People were really good about eating and leaving so we found a spot quickly and the food didn't take a long time which was another thing I was expecting seeing how busy it was. I'm from NYC and have been hearing about Bodega Park and it's chopped cheese. I was skeptical about the price and tried it today as well as the mortadella. $16 for chopped cheese is ridiculous! In NYC is $7-$8 on a roll and $10 on a hero. Mind you, they are paying NYC rent and it's cheaper. The sandwich was okay, it didn't blow me away for $16 or was it the best chopped cheese. Overpriced in a gentrified neighborhood. The mortadella sandwich was worse at $12! A small roll with not enough mortadella for a $12 sandwich. The sandwich was too salty and lacked meat! I can say I tried Bodega Park and will not be a repeat customer. There are too many better places for that price and taste! I spent $30.66 with tax and I'm not even full! You can get two In and Out burgers that is much cheaper, better tasting and you will be more full! This is what happens when you take something from Harlem and serve it in a gentrified neighborhood!! While slightly pricey (but average for LA), the chopped cheese is huge and served on crust and chewy bread and absolutely packed with juicy ground beef, chopped chiles, melty american cheese and tomatoes to balance it out.
