Review i found Good Bye "Everything happens for a reason". I have lived up to this quote for a very long time. The more I analyze my past life experiences whether they are at work, at home, or anywhere else, the more I believe this is true. It's interesting how things fall into place at the very end, like a puzzle getting put together; when you feel like your life is falling apart is when something magical happens and all of a sudden everything is okay. This isn't a "good bye"; instead, I'd rather sees it as a, "see you later". Many people believe that, "it isn't the technology or the product that make a company great, it's the people." And over the past three years (sadly), I have seen past employees leave Body Xchange with anger and hatred! I'm going to be completely honest, at some point; I was becoming one of those people. I didn't have it easy, even before I got hired; I had to apply 3 times before receiving that spontaneous call asking me to come in for an interview. At that moment, I had no idea how drastically my life was going to change! It has been three long, stressful, life changing years, and yet they feel like a blur (a very painful blur), but to be truthful, I don't regret a single moment of it. From the start, here at Body Xchange I was criticized, I was belittled, at one point humiliated, I was denied sales (several times!), and amazingly; someone took the time and liberty out of their lives (their boring lives I'm guessing) to start rumors about me (you know who you are), and by the way, that is a perfect way to look good in front of the company, but an even better way to burn your bridges with everyone else. I was like that little puppy that nobody wanted to adopt. I met great people whom some of them turned out to be liars and back stabbers; But, I think what hurt me the most was the fact that the company never believed I had what it took to become a great asset... until now. I got shut down every time I tried to obtain an opportunity to prove myself; by several BX employees... again, you know who you are. I guess it's true what they say, "We don't know what we have until we see it gone". No, I'm not telling you this for you to feel sorry for me; I'm simply trying to demonstrate to you that no matter how bad things can get, there is always a good that can come out of it. You see, life is all about how we see things; don't take your employees for granted, and always try to get to know them on a personal level instead of judging them based on things you hear other people say. Body Xchange is really good at that; ONCE MORE, you know who you are! Like I said, "everything happens for a reason". The only reason I stuck around this long was because, for the last year and half I got to work with an amazing person that not only allowed me to become part of his staff, but treated me like a son too. He mentored me, he disciplined me, taught me things no one else in my life could, and helped become the much more mature and wise person I am now; he treated me like a son. I guess you can say someone finally adopted that cute little puppy that all he wanted was someone to give him that support to show everyone what kind of alpha he could become. But all of this started with one person; that: great, amazing, funny, crazy Hispanic/ Muslim guy that no one in the company could control. He was the only person who ever believed in me even before I believed in myself! I guess he wasn't so crazy after all. I appreciate all of those people that lied, backstabbed, and started rumors, as well as the people who cared for me, and looked out for me, even mentored me. It was thanks to you all that I was able to outgrow my past self and many people in my life. Just know that if you are reading this, you are one of those people (good or bad) I have to be thankful for. Thank you for shutting me down, thank you for telling me that I wasn't worth it, thank you for the rumors, and thank you for saying that, "The company is going to be okay with or without out you" (this one happened recently). For all of those who always stood by me, I have you to be thankful for the most. Please, don't take any of this in a negative way, because everything that I said ended up having a positive outcome. I look forward to someday getting to work with you all again. Perhaps when the company has better opportunities for me, or perhaps when upper management doesn't make a big deal about giving me the sick hours I so rightfully deserved and so desperately needed to pay my bills, who knows! This one star does not reflect the gym itself, it reflects the customer service aspect, tho the gyms i have visited are not all that great...So I have been trying to cancel my service with body exchange since july of this year. I was told the only way to cancel is to fill out the cancellation form online so I did. At the end of August i realize that i was still getting charged. When i checked my email there was an email from Maria Posada on behalf of BX saying that i did not qualify for cancellation and if i had any questions to contact her. I called her twice with no answer and couldn't leave a message due to a full mailbox, emailed her back and no response. Keep in mind they have an option for best way of communication and i put via Phone. So I call the Olive location where i spoke to their branch manager, Natasha. She was very attentive and after she finally got ahold of Maria; Natasha called me saying if i wanted to cancel i had to fill out the cancelation form AGAIN! and maria had been on vacay!... ok so i did, again keep in mind i click on best way of communication is via phone (their option not mine). Im here at the beginning of October remembering about Body exchange. I haven't received a call saying there was a problem so i decide to check my emails just in case, i do not check my emails often that is why i asked them to communicate with me via phone, after all what was the option there for if not to call a customer back with an answer. Low and behold an email form Maria saying i did not qualify for a cancelation and if i wanted to cancel to call a location in person. WTH, at this point I was convinced they were playing some sort of twisted game with me or this was one hell of a scam to keep charging me. So i call the location again and speak to natasha she advises me to freeze account or just keep paying the monthly fee to finish my contact because it was less than my cancellation fee, of course it was now because they prolonged it for 4 months, Oh and they do not give credits even thought there is proof you requested a cancellation way before. Why didn't Natasha cancel me out the fist time i spoke to her? i don't know because when i asked her if she was able to cancel me out her self she said i had to fill our the form AGAIN! When i vented my frustration with her about maria emails and this run around she responds with, well she did email you back... what is the point of the best communication option!! but i did not argue with her about it. So now i did not cancel my membership but froze to a future date where hopefully i am not so angry in giving them my money that they scammed me out of. Also this is not the first time i have issues canceling body exchange i had them when i was much younger and similar thing happened. so to those of you thinking about getting this gym.... cancelation process is almost impossible does not matter if you are willing to pay cancelation fee, which i informed both of them that i was willing to pay from the gecco. read more

For the price honestly there is way better gyms in Bakersfield. I been to most of the gyms and had memberships to inshape, iron arms, strength and health even planet, this the worst for the value hands down. At least planet u know what u get for $10. And in-shape you get the pool and sauna for $30. But here you can't even have ur gym bag on the floor cuz they think you gonna steal their equipment, SMH. They have hundreds of memberships getting charged a month and they worried about minor things like that. They actually don't have much equipment so on a busy day good luck. Oh yeah don't forget your towel or else u won't be let in or you have to buy the cheap tire they sell for $5. I think imma go back to in shape and cancel my membership at least they will give me a towel to use if I forgot mine. Oh also they are not open 24hrs you would think they were by the cost but nah I tried to go Sunday night but sure enough they were closed, lucky I still have my planet fitness I use for weekends when it's dead over there. read more

rip off!!! the group fitness classes were extra to sign up for. unfortunately I found out after I signed up that I could not attend the classes due to schedule limits. Also when I signed up, I was told that the classes were available Monday Wednesday and Friday. That was not accurate. I never actually attended classes. not one. and I was charged wa $120 dollars for classes I never attended. when I asked for a refund I was essentially told sorry not sorry no refund. pathetic total RIP off. I could see paying if I actually used the classes, but the one class I did make it to was cancelled. We were not told until 15 minutes after the class was supposed to start. The schedule of class availability is different than what I was told when I signed up! Update... after I complained, they said no refund..sorry but we will offer you a free month of access to the club. So they think I would be happy to go back to a club where I was lied to and ripped off with the fine print. Uh no thx. read more

Want to pick up after 90% of the people in your gym? Want to wipe down their equipment and put up their weights? If you're a woman would you like to be endlessly followed by a flock of awkward gym bros who look like they might kidnap you? Want to use beat up equipment and dumbells missing grips? Then Body Xchange is for you. This is one of the most mismanaged facilities I have ever trained at in my life. Between playing maid and watching the stalker fest it becomes rather difficult to train. The staff just says they know and moves on when you bring something to their attention. Guess the masks stop you from catching the rona while you pick up someone else's weights and wipe down their bench? Get a new culture in this place because the one that exists is garbage. read more

Worst gym in Bakersfield. Management treats you like a child by withholding parts of the gym to everyone because trash was left on the ground. They bind you I'm long contracts with no way out and then have the nerve to close off over 50% of the gym for a whole weekend. Emailed the owner and I could easily tell his intentions are based on greed and he could care less of his members. Wish I could give it less stars. And also I want to add the owner of body exchange, John O, told me as a marine corps infantry veteran I should be used to this kind of treatment and should just take it. This is actually not a bad gym. You get what you pay for really. It has the equipment you need to do your thing. It's small but easily can avoid the crowds. Interesting group of people a bit creepy sometimes actually. go during the day time if you can. Didn't like this no bag rule. I have my towel, jacket, water, and keys to carry and they basically make you use a locker which I don't want to do. If you're on a budget do it otherwise invest a little more and upgrade to a bigger/better gym! Staff is awesome! read more

Don't fall for the dirty corruption of this gym. This gym will charge you extra fees after 90 days of $35 just to be a member. I tried to cancel my membership over the phone, but I learned from corporate you can only cancel in person or by mail. I'm in the process of moving out of state and learned you have to cancel 15 days prior to your billing date or you will be charged the full price like I was. The gym is a basic gym anyways not worth the high monthly cost in my opinion. read more

This is an awful gym. They do not repair anything, arbitrarily change your monthly rate higher whenever they feel like it, the hours are cut so you can barely workout on weekends, they continuously cut services and equipment and then charge you more. The people working here are all kids incapable of solving anything or addressing any issues with equipment. Cliente is also rude and not the type of people you'd want to be around. read more

I've been on this side of town and in this gym for a little while now and it sucks. Equipment frequently out of service for extended times Unprofessional management. Rules uninforced. Looks and sounds more like a prison exercise yard at certain times of the day with a strong thug like presence loud talking foul mouths, gym bags on floor and just dirty. read more

The jealous minded management denied me entry because girls liked me at the gym. Very jealous male staff members they also skeemed money out of my account over the past three months and issued me no refund. The new manager's Ramon and Dominic are by far the best manager's the bernard location have had. they are improving the gym so much and their customer service is amazing! And they have the best deals so if you are looking for memberships make sure you look for Ramon and Dominic! read more

I love coming here, has a lot of equipment for many exercises. COVID precautions are put into place, while still being able to workout freely. Weekends are my go to, less busy than the weekdays. They have different memberships for different peoples situations. read more

Closes way too early on the weekends, 5PM, the same time many people get off work. Other than that its not bad.
