Just what you would expect simple clean cooked. I had scrambled eggs grits potatoes and a biscuit with sausage and gravy on top. Nothing fancy just what your mom would make. Wonderful sweet tea. And atmosphere with lots of locals and good gossip to listen too The building was typical for 1890-1920 era. Lots of fun if you like people watching and stepping back on time. Been here for breakfast and lunch. I would have to say the lunch is better. Went in for breakfast this morning and had the oatmeal and candied bacon sliders. My mother had the French toast breakfast. Oatmeal was great! Covered with brown sugar, raisins, apples, and almonds. The candied bacon sliders were ok. Bacon was definitely sweet! Tomatoes were a little mushy. Over all just rich and heavy. Mom said everything was ok but her bacon. It smelled like it was bad. Maybe had been sitting for awhile. Restaurant was clean except the ceiling fans were a little dusty. We had planned on eating a different place, but it was not open early enough so I got online and found Boerne Grill. The place was bit confusing to find as the sign on the door actually says daily grind pretty big and then Boerne Grill a bit smaller. You order at the counter here and then go find a table. The line moved pretty swiftly for a Sunday morning and they had a large selection of coffee drinks to choose from, I had an iced mocha latte that was pretty good. I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat so I ordered the blueberry pancakes and my mom orders the migas and we split. Pancakes had tons of blueberries, the migas were amazing. Don't tell anybody, but this is the best breakfast in town! Wonderful specialty coffee drinks made to order, a few brews of regular and decaf coffee. Have not been here in a long time but will go more often. The espresso drinks are good and you can get a full breakfast. Great biscuits too. Love the ala carte menu. One of few places you can get eggs with the sides you really want. It's like a "greasy spoon" (and I mean that admiringly) meets urban coffee house in a country setting. Hit the spot. read more

If you're shopping in Boerne, it's a nice place to stop, relax and get some lunch. One complaint is that they never seem to clean the tables. You may end up doing this yourself. Great little place! Order at the counter, they call your name to pick it up. Girl at the counter was so friendly and helpful. Prices were great, especially considering just about any restaurant in Boerne is pretty steep. They have several flavored coffees that are serve yourself and even had an array of decaf. Food was awesome! I got the pepper jack Benedict and fruit cup and hubby got the spinach egg white muffin with sausage. Y'all!! So stinking good! The fruit was ripe and perfect and the sauce on mine was out of this world! The sausage tasted so fresh. The atmosphere was so laid back and chill. This place is so darling. It's in an old historic building & full of charm. You order up at the register & pay, then they call you or bring your order out to you. I had the Eggs Benedict with fruit & it was so delicious. Hubby had an omelet & said it was great. Be prepared to wait as there is usually a line. There's not much seating inside but they do have limited seating in the outside the front door. Everyone's as super friendly so that makes it enjoyable too. read more

Went on a Weekend morning about 10:00am and they were out , or were not serving a number of items. We had to constantly change our order based on what, or what was not available . It's been a while since I last reviewed Boerne Grill since I did not go there at all for over a year during the pandemic peak. Lots of changes since then--most of them not for the better. They have revamped the entry area and order process and it is definitely NOT an improvement. My comments regarding the food from prior reviews still stand, however, if anything the food (and particularly the coffee) have gotten worse, not better. All of the staff (if you want to call it that) are new except for the owner/cook. There are far too few employees there to meet the needs of the large number of customers. Waits are long and service is poor. This is a "regulars" kind of place and the only reason I go is to meet a buddy for breakfast once a week. I'm definitely not there for the food. Hate to say it but I'm about to change restaurants because this place has become more disappointing with time. Sad. There are many better choices in Boerne. read more

In a couple of letters... Eh Located on main street, this cafe/restaurant is easily accessible. Went for lunch with my wife on a Tuesday. The place was pretty empty at 1100. We were looking forward to a cappuccino but, alas, the machine was broken. This is a coffee shop? So we opted for the regular coffee they served. Several choices between dark roast and flavored coffees available but very weak and lukewarm. Cream? Had to ask for a refill since it was empty and the staff were not motivated to refill it on their own. We perused a rather uninspiring menu and opted for the only item that caught our eye.. the gumbo. But, alas, they didn't have any. So we settled for sandwiches what frankly we make Better at home The place was Filthy. Staff were friendly but appeared unmotivated to improve the experience. Needless to say we won't be back. This review is simply based on initial impressions from the street. The restaurant is shown as opening at 6 a.m. Drove by at 6:05 and no lights were on and didn't see anyone inside. They may have been there but I didn't see them. Drove by again at 6:10 and didn't see any lights on but saw two people inside. Based on the negative reviews on this site and the fact that no lights were on ten minutes after the advertised opening time, I went elsewhere. I was in Borne to work with a coworker that was coming back from surgery. It was too early for lunch, so my coworker suggested we do a late breakfast. He said he had a great place. We arrived before 11:00 but were told we were too late for breakfast as they stop serving it at 10:30. I looked over the menu and settled on a burger. My coworker got a chicken wrap. The food came pretty quickly, and it was OK. Nothing special, just average. My coworker liked his wrap. Would I go back? Well, I would still like to try the breakfast. This place looks like it used to be an old store, as there are two large display windows out front with small tables: cute. Free wi-fi: good! Staff are friendly: yeah! Background music was pretty good. Okay, so enough with the niceties. I came here to freakin' eat. Goal of my going to ANY restaurant is to find ONE of the following: something we cannot or are not willing to make at home; something better than we can make at home; or something unique/special. Ummm, none of those is to be found here. Esposa, daughter, and I stopped in for lunch. We all had different sandwiches. While they were fresh and tasty, and yes the homemade potato chips were near-perfect, everything was just so-so. Nothing great. With so many great places from which to choose in Boerne, this was a bit of a let down. We stopped in for coffee one afternoon, and I'm beginning to wonder if all coffee in central Texas isn't brewed super strong by law. This was no different. Good, but strong. The service was weird... three drinks that could have potentially been mine ended up sitting on the bar together, none labelled with either a name or what the drink was. I stood there looking confused for a minute but had to flag down the server to ask which was my latte.... she said they were all the same so I grabbed one and left. The only downside to this restaurant is that it was chilly and the restroom was dirty with no toilet paper. I told the girl at the register but, she ignored me. Upon entering this quaint little dinner we were were greeted with a smile, and sent to the other room to stand in line to order. It took some time to find the menus as they were obscured by the patrons already standing in line, waiting to order. Not having been there before, it took me some time to decide what I wanted, and after much deliberation (not seeing a steak on the menu. I mean, come on, this is Texas and it says Grill, outside) I realised that we hadn't moved but one spot in line. Speed of service was an issue. I decided to go with the a la carte menu and I simply ordered eggs, bacon and sausage. I try not to eat sweets and excessive carbs, and this place is sugar heaven. The pastries looked very good and it was hard to say no. After ordering, empty tables were scarce (this place is small and they do draw a crowd). I selected one of the bar tables against the wall, whereupon I had to move chairs around to get one that wasn't missing parts. Now, they did call my name relatively quick, but I did not enjoy having to carry heavy plates back to my table without a tray of some sort; also, there were no knives to be had, there was no butter for the pancakes, the syrup bottle was sticky and I had to ask a fellow patron to use their salt and pepper. Food was good, but the sausage patty was like that thing you get on a McDonalds breakfast sandwich. If it were my, unique restaurant, I would be making my own sausages. The blueberry pancakes were large, but they were flat, dense and tasted like a box mix with canned blueberries. I didn't order the pancakes. My wife did. Will I go back? Maybe. Everyone deserves a second chance, I guess. I work in the food business, so I don't get out for breakfast very often, & I understand running a restaurant. They are very nice people and I'm sure they will improve. read more

The signs inside and outside advertising "Homemade Pies" and "Fresh Baked Pies Served Daily" brought us in. Of course there were no pies. We ordered hot tea and a peach coffee cake. I hate being asked what size hot tea you want. How much is more hot water to dunk your used bag in?? Come on--fill 'er up. The coffee cake was yummy though. We enjoyed sitting in the big chairs in the window watching the people walk by. Would return. Maybe next time I'll be lucky and get a slice of the pie. read more
