While I enjoyed my stay here, we were sat at a smaller table right by the front door where it was quite drafty. The hot pots were quite large for the table we were at so I felt like I couldn't move or the table would tip over. The passion fruit tea that I ordered with meal was quite tasty. I ordered the #10, the Thai pot. It had a good flavor to the broth, but the crab was hard to open, and I felt out of my element there in trying to open the crab without looking like a fool. There was a good portion of seafood in my pot. The fish ball in the pot was interesting. I learned quickly to let the prawns sit in the broth for quite awhile or face a rather gruesome sight when trying to open it. I am not fond of the smell of the sterno lights beneath the pots. A very butane-like smell permeated the meal. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will come back. read more

Looking for a miso soup fix, we happened upon boiling point. I must have completely missed the concept of this now intriguing restaurant as I ordered my soup to go! The one time I don't pre-review on yelp as I simply wanted soup left me a bit shocked. As a "to go" the Japanese miso soup was incredibly hot!! It was also huge and couldn't be finished by 2 people. We ordered no spice (kicking ourselves) which was pretty decent and tasted just like any miso broth. We were pleasantly surprised by everything that came inside!! Crab, fish,clam, mushrooms (I think), pork, boiled egg(not good) noodles, fish ball(not a fan), spring onion, tentacle vegetable and cabbage. They also have tofu and crispy tofu which we asked to omit. The ratio of broth to add ins were spot on. The soup also came with a large portion of rice. The soup itself was quite an experience and enjoyable to try. We weren't expecting a soup like this and so for what we got the food was good. The shocking part was when I ran in to grab our to go only to be charged $18!! I was floored and that's when I realized this was not what I thought. I am giving 3 stars as I'm just not entirely convinced that the soup was worth so much. We came on a Friday night around 8pm, the place was busy but there happen to be an empty table so we got seated right away. The server came with 3 small paper cup full of water (yes, paper cup, not glass...weird) for our group and asked if we were ready to order. We had some questions (typical first timers) and he answered patiently and truthfully. Our food arrived pretty quick and everything were delicious! I was impress with the service...I drop my napkin and the lady happen to be walking by (didn't even see her) picked it right up and handed me a new one. This was our first time going to this restaurant and it just so happened to be my birthday. We were told that the order of noodles we ordered was included in the dish my friend ordered. Here it seems like favoritism happens with customers who come here often. I'm a new customer and your restaurant should treat everyone new or old well. It was freezing cold here and our "hot pots" got cold very quickly. No one offered to check if the fires in the hot plates were on. Only one of our orders tasted good but everything else was a disappointment. For the longest time I have been wanting to come here and when I finally get to try this restaurant things were bad. Love the Boiling Point chain, don't love how I leave super smelly afterwards. Lol. I've been to the Edmonds location a few times now and the service is pretty inconsistent; sometimes it's great and other times it's below average. However, I will say that since opening, the service at this location has improved. Before you would have to wait a little while for an employee to walk by to refill your water or tea but recently I don't find myself waiting too long for a beverage refill. It would be nice to not have to ask but some improvement is better than none. One thing that is consistent is that there is almost always a wait. Out of the five times I've come in, there's been a wait each time. But the hot soup usually comes out pretty quickly, so that's always good. read more

The first thing I noticed was the table was sticky and dirty. I don't understand how they can call sticky tables clean. Chairs are metal and very uncomfortable. This place was cramped and very loud, If you get a bad spot people are constantly bumping into you trying to get to their table. The portions are not very big and the staff is in a hurry to clear the table. I wasn't even finished eating and they took away my soup spoon, then kept coming back every two minutes to ask if they can take away the pot. Finally they gave up asking and just took it even though I wasn't finished eating, literally took the pot while I was still eating out of it. Boiling Point just wants your money. They could care less if you have time to eat your food, they just want to get the next sucker to sit at the table and over pay for poorly prepared food that is over priced. I ate at a place called Boiling Passion in San Diego Ca. That place had huge portions, comfortable seating, and exceptional staff. They were packed but made me feel like I was the only customer in the place. That is the way to treat customers. Okay today was our first trip to Boiling Point. Food on line looks generous, bubbly and big portions! Get ready for a surprise! First of all we sit down and the server places 2 dixie cups of water on our table and hands us 2 menus. She is friendly and cordial and I tell her this is our first time here and she lets us know what the choices are on the menu. I learn that only 3 of the 11 or so soups are available in large. So if you want choice 1-7 you are out of luck if you are really up for a larger portion but if you want choices 8-11 then they will let you get it in a large. Doesn't this place only serves soup? How hard is it to make each kind in small or large? Baffling! We sit to contemplate this for a while and then I notice a very large pattern of splatter all over the wall directly next to our table. I cannot believe no one has wiped down what appears to be splattered soup stains all over the wall. So much so that my husband thought it was a pattern in the wall until I show him it stops half way up the wall. Not a good feeling of cleanup tasks here. Our server returns and what I thought I wanted to order in a large I cannot because it only comes in spicy and in fact every large soup only has a spicy option so I pick another choice that only comes in small. My husband has diabetes and asks for a diet drink - don't have any in the place. Nope, unsweetened tea is the only option without sugar or water. I order the ginger tea. I love hot ginger tea and the server tells me it is a good choice. He returns a minute later to advise that the ginger tea contains sugar if that is ok? I tell him ok and he says if it is too sweet, we can water it down. Aw oh, I'm thinking that didn't sound good. I was right. This tea was something more than sweetened. It literally tasted completely of sugar - in fact I could not taste the tea or the ginger just straight sugar water. Needlness to say I did not take more than a sip. Soon the bubbling soups arrived. I ordered the Thai Seafood and my husband the Hot Beef. My soup came with fish balls (very good) shrimp (with a head on and full shell) and clams and squid. The squid was totally rubbery and I did not even eat it. The clams did not taste fresh but the white fish and shrimp tasted good. The beef broth was good but the bubbly had to stop and I had them put out the fire as did my husband. Soup came with a bowl of white rice - rice was good but you cannot really ruin rice or it is tough to ruin it. The tofu was ok but nothing special and the mushrooms were very overcooked and rubbery. Lots of cabbage on top (too much) and it was uncooked until you submerged it in the soup so that was ok. All in all the bill was outrageous for 2 bowls of soup $34.00 and we drove from the restaurant up to the Costco for a hot dog and a salad to finish off our dinner. We will not be returning and the next time we have a desire for soup, we will be going to Phoa and will have a large selection of many wonderful Phoa restaurants in the area. Guess what I can even get my Phoa in any size I would like and it won't matter what choice I make! read more

Not worth the hassle! The disaster began from the time we wanted to book a reservation. They do not allow booking a reservation remotely, not over the phone, or using an app. You HAVE TO check in their stupic system in person in the store, but the wait is easily over 1 hour. If you live far, you will drive 20+ only to 'check in' their system, but you will have to starve for another hour. Also, after check in you won't know how many parties are before you. You won't know an estimated waiting time unless you call the staff, and they would "always" say 1.5 hour to 2 hours. You can't cancel the check-in on your phone. Really, NOT WORTH IT! 2. They do not accept AMEX card. We did not know this before. I only brought Amex card when I visited the store, they forced us to pay another way, using their system's online pay. Unfortunately, that system does not accept Apple Pay or Amex either. I had to somehow call my family at home and get the credit card number and type it in their 'online pay' website. 3. Their online pay website has a bug and keeps saying I only 'paid partially', and asked me to pay again and again. In the end, I found my credit card has been charged multiple times. I told the staff that I overpaid, and then it took half hour to understand the situation. Their solution was to void the previous payments and ask me to pay again! ! What?? CAN'T THEY JUST IMPROVE THEIR SYSTEM A BIT??? 4. My stomach complained the next morning. So burning.. I had to rush to toilet three times in the morning !! OMG.. I love this place. It's such a guilty pleasure of mine. The soups are all very unauthentic and msg laden but it's just so crazy good. Coupled with the hot stone egg rice and I end up going here once a week, not even exaggerating. It's perfect to share but if you're having a big appetite, it's also a cheap and fulfilling single meal. Each hotpot comes in its individual pot and you can either choose rice or vermicelli to come with. The hot stone rice is an upgrade and I must say it's a necessity. I love the lamb and Thai flavors but I've tried everything on the menu and I loved everything! They recently changed the miso to tonkatsu pork and honestly the pork is disgusting. It's steamed slice pork and not the usual slices you'd get at traditional ramen joints so it's the only flavor I'd warn against. The bubble tea here is honestly the best I've ever had. And I am a certified bubble tea goer. I believe I've tried all the new chains that recently opened up...yes even the new kid on the block Yi Fang. this location exceeds expectations 10/10 for how well they take coronavirus and sanitizing precautions. No contact pickup for your order. Orders are organized on tables. Screens between you and the cashier. There are cups of sanitized and used pens for you to sign. The Card swipe is well placed so only you are handling your card. Definitely coming back again. Review of a takeout order: it's after 10pm and was hoping to find something other than fast food. I was happy to see that BP is open til 11pm. Wasn't sure what to expect since I'd never been here but heard good things about it. After walking in and asking if I could order "to go" I was led to the counter for assistance. Sensing that I was new to this, they made the suggestion that I order the beef soup as the other soup I was looking at could "be a bit smelly" (discovered it was the fermented tofu), so I went with that. I was also impressed by the candidness of the order taker. She said the to go orders are a bit smaller than the dine in. I was fine with that. Vivian, the employee, said it would be 10 minute. I said I'd wait outside in my car and come back. About 6 minutes in, I look up from my car to see Vivian walking out with my order! It was pretty dark outside, dino was surprised they'd even make the attempt. I was virtually served curbside. Nice! Everything was packaged well and tight, no chance of spillage in the car. If the take out service is this good so late in the evening, I can't wait to experience the dine in service. read more

This place is the McDonald's of hot pot. Everything comes from the freezer, and the "soup" is colored water. Just plain terrible. No salinity and cheap ingredients. I've ordered a number of items in the past and think the House Special is the best combo of veggies, seafood, meat. You can specify the spiciness factor and add toppings/sides. I got the Taiwanese Spicy Hot Soup!! It was pretty good but not amazing, I think it could have had a little bit more flavor to go a long with the spice. I love that they give you a choice between green tea or black tea, I recommend the black tea. But getting water for some reason seemed like such a hassle for the employees. The only other thing is that we were stoked on trying some of their desserts but almost everything we wanted to try, they were out of so we ended up not having any, which was disappointing. I order the beef hot soup all the time and now it has a curry smell and flavor to it. If I wanted the curry favor I would have ordered the curry hot soup. So not satisfied. Really not worth the price or time in waiting. I came here a couple of times hoping to have a better experience but it was just as mediocre as the first time I came in. To summarize, I visited on a moderate, not too busy Sunday afternoon.. despite the 20 minute wait I was still excited to eat and see what all the talk about this place was since I've seen sooooo many posts on social media making the food look amazing. The waiter wasn't welcoming as they came off a bit uptight but that might be due to the number of tables she had take care of. We didn't get our food until a good 40 minutes had gone by and needless to say, I wasn't at all impressed with the food. I got the seafood soup and it was in its own individual hot pot. It tasted like it was barely seasoned was way too hot to eat until 10 minutes had past by. And as a big rice eater, it only came with a tiny bowl of rice. The price was definitely not worth the money and the macron ice cream that they sell are way too small for the price they sell it at. Not worth it and really disappointed. This is my very first time going to boiling point. I have decided to come eat there because many of my friends tried it and the hot pot visuals were great. So i took my mom there to eat having very high hopes about it. The first thing that kinda disappointed me was when they gave us paper cups instead of real cups and poured a small amount of water in it. They were very cheap. Another thing was that they when we have received our our kimchi hot pot, the rice was undercooked and somewhat very hard to eat. And lastly i had to try their macaroon ice cream because they looked so cute, but they were so small for what i have imagined them since they are $5.
