Finally after what seems like a million years was I able to convince my husband to try out BP here in the bay. It had been over 5 years since we first had it in SoCal. On a Friday night around 9pm we waited about 20 minutes. You check in to the screen and receive a text when your table is ready. Place is nice and modern and has a decent amount of seating. My husband and I both ordered the Beef $16 which had our favorite hot pot ingredients: beef, enoki mushrooms, tomato, meatballs, imitation crab, corn, tempura, cilantro. I got medium and he ordered hot both were a good level of spicy. Our hot pots were served to us fairly fast. The broth could be more flavorful IMO but it wasn't bad. My favorite part about this place is the sauces! Which are available on each table. Garlic bean paste, garlic soy, beancurd paste, chilli oil. All four were on hit so I mixed them together for a flavorful ass concoction. A great option if you are craving for hot pot but don't want to go all out for AYCE. The portion was satisfying and they give you some sort of chia seed shooter for dessert which def helps with digestion..lol so hurry home. Will be back! read more

I think paying $18 for the extra large size is way too much, especially because they took out the pork blood rice, and haven't replaced it with anything else. I've been to other locations and this one has the friendliest staff and the food is more consistent. My go to order is the Lamb flavor in Medium spice. If you're not a fan of lamb Beef is the most popular out of the menu. Most items here are good, but the seafood hot pot is not as good because they don't give much food in it. The Thai hot pot has a lot more food and has seafood in it too. The drinks here are also surprisingly good for a place that mainly serves food. They upgraded their waiting list system with a machine- you select your party size, grab a ticket and wait to be called. Only thing is, if you don't choose the mobile system (aka put in your phone number), you will miss your number when they call you if you and your party at not there! We had to be placed at the large family table of 8 (aka we split/shared tables with two other families). They did ask us beforehand, but be prepared to share if you don't want to wait. Maybe you'll make a new friend! I ordered: -1 #5 lamb 酸菜羊肉鍋 // No levels of spicy added, so I had a better experience this time. +A lot of napa cabbage and other vegetables! Yum! I'm a fan. I went on a Saturday around 1pm. There were around 7 people in front of us which was a 30-45 minute wait. You come in and put yourself on their digital waitlist. They text you when your table is about to be ready so you can roam around and do what you want. Once we sat down, we ordered the lamb hot pot which was around $14.30. It comes with free green or black tea during lunch time. The green tea was refreshing and good - not overwhelmingly sweet. The hotpot was one of the better ones I had! I tried the same exact one in Sac but this one was more tasty and seemed to had more additions like the pickled cabbage in it. Soup was savory, a hint of sweetness - was just delicious!! This place isn't a bad spot if you have hotpot cravings and you or your friends are germaphobes. Thing is that I don't think their food is worth for the long wait and the terrible parking experience in that Little Taipei plaza. You have Boiling Point, Gong Cha, Lions Market, etc... Thats just already the major components of "good luck finding parking." I've had different pots here before. Tried their house special stinky tofu #1, which wasn't that flavorful for stinky tofu. So its totally doable for people who aren't afraid of trying new things. The amount of food you get from non-Napa cabbage is minimal. Their #5 isn't to bad for the lamb pot, but again too much cabbage, which makes the soup too thick after a while. I recently tried their Taiwanese spicy hotpot, #8. It is a larger size. You get ramen with it and rice on the side. Its set at their spiciest level, watch out if you have trouble handling the heat. I enjoy it more because of the spice, because of the fish balls and the ramen and the seafood. I dont need to eat the pig's blood cakes. Overall, its more filling and I have about 3/4 to one full second meal to take home. I personally love hot pot but I can't go "omg I'm craving for Boiling Point! I need it right now!" I would actually prefer Tasty Pot or Milk and Honey for their precooked pots. Tasty Pots have a vermicelli option instead of rice and Milk and Honey has better stinky tofu. Heard about this place from my uncle who was so excited about having his "very own nabe pot" rather than a sharing pot. He showed me pictures, and it got my hyped as well. Boiling Point is a bit far from where we live, but we happened to be in the area after doing a hike and decided to come here for lunch to warm up and refuel. At lunchtime, prices are very reasonable. At $12.99 per person + tax and tip, you receive your own bowl of soup, a small bowl of rice and a cold drink (your choice of sweetened black or green tea). At dinner, the drink is not included. Both my hubby and I ordered the #4 "Beef" soup. I ordered mild, and he ordered medium. Both are spicy, especially when the flame is still lit under the hotpot bowl, but once the flame cools off, the mild is tolerable. If you can't handle spice at all, then I recommend going for the non-spicy version. Medium was spicier than expected. For those that like it hotter, there is also a Very Spicy and a Flaming Spicy option. I think the descriptions under the soup may not be 100% accurate, as the #4 was supposed to come with a piece of "tempura" but I don't recall seeing any tempura in my soup. There is a small note on the menu that indicates that soup contents are based on seasonal availability. Flavorwise, I thought everything was delicious. I especially liked the corn (it was sweet), fried tofu skin, and the fish cake. There's a very good variety of ingredients in the soup, but honestly I could've used a little bit more meat, a little bit more cabbage, and a little bit more enoki. It was pretty much like three bites of meat, and a bite of veggies. You can always opt to add more meat or vegetables to your bowl, but it does cost extra. I think next time we come, we'll order a side of Garlic Pork Belly and/or Spicy Fermented Tofu to share. After the meal is over, a small shot of lemonade with basil seeds is served as a finisher. We thought they were chia seeds at first, but I read online that they have similar health benefits, including the ability to alleviate indigestion and cool the body -- makes sense after eating a hot bowl of spicy soup. read more

I came to this restaurant with my sister to check it out since I've heard about the hype for so long! It seems to have mixed reviews on Yelp (mostly due to the wait time) but I was willing to wait. Their system is quite simple- once you get there, tell the person at the front the number of people in your party and they'll put it on the list for you. You'll receive a receipt that has a number on it and once your table is ready, they'll call out the number. You have to wait outside since the inside is very small. There's a bunch of benches that you could sit on though! They claim that your name will be crossed out if all of your party isn't there by the time they call you out but that wasn't the case for me! The person in front was gracious enough to hold off my number until my friend came, even if it was 20 minutes later! Props to her :) Surprisingly, the wait wasn't that long! It only took about 20 minutes (40 minutes total for me) for them to call out my number the first time- I came at noon. Once seated, you order your hot pot! There are 10 options, 3 of which are priced a bit more than the others. After ordering, the server will ask if you want green or black tea with your order (for no extra charge), but this is only for lunchtime. It comes real fast- the black tea was very sweet and refreshing. About 10 minutes after we ordered food, the food came out. The lamb hot pot ($12.99) came with clear noodles, an egg, black sticky rice cakes, tofu skin, imitation crab, fish cake, lamb, mushrooms, cabbage, tofu, cilantro, and a mussel. On the side came a bowl of rice with some black sesame sprinkled on top. The hot pot stays lit and boiling since they have a flame on the bottom! This was my first time trying out hot pot so I wasn't sure how to eat it. My friends and I made do by watching and observing other people eat. We ended up eating the contents of the hot pot straight out of it and dumping our rice in the remaining soup (I know this is totally wrong LOL). But either way, it was a fun experience! I tried several copy cat places some good some not so good. Now I can compare. In the bay area with the pre-made hot pot market Boiling Point is ok. At $12 a pot its price point is decent but the pot is actually smaller then the competition such as Fashion Pot in Foster City. I still don't understand what all the hype is all about. We tried the #1 House Special Pot with the stinky tofu and the Lamb Pot. The meat was scarce and toppings tiny. The flavor and broth were good. So much for the Pot, service was good but the way the try to squeeze 8 people into 4 two top tables meant for only two is comical. Each customer must interrupt the other other tables to get in and out. Since this is just about the level of Taiwanese street food they may as well just have communal tables like the big table in the front of the restaurant. Boiling Point was promoting two new items garlic pork and kimchi tofu. We got the kimchi tofu and that was nothing special. You get a free ice green or red tea with you pot which is a plus. These meals are always filling and not overbearing as some hot pot places are due to the ayce aspect of them. There's plenty of veggies in each dish and rice supplied so it's a more "balanced" meal. This was my first experience with an individual hotpot soup, and I really enjoyed it! I'm honestly surprised at the low rating. This is obviously a different approach to hotpot, but the individual bowls allow for so much variety! You choose your bowl based on the type of broth and what comes with it. I ordered the Korean bowl. It came with a huge variety of food - fish balls, rice cakes, noodles, vegetables, etc, and the broth was very flavorful. All the hotpots come with rice. You can specify the spiciness you want and be careful - even medium was challenging for me. Obviously the contents in the pot will be boiling away as long the fire is on, so either ask them to turn off the fire after a while, or eat the stuff that can overcook first (i.e. Noodles, rice cakes..) Your pot comes on a little fire stove that keeps the soup boiling-- hence BOILING point. Spend some time studying the menu because each pot comes with a different flavor of soup and different "stuffings." For all the pots except taiwanese spicy, you can choose the spiciness level. My top 2 are beef and taiwanese spicy. If you can't handle that burning feeling, don't volunteer as a tribute to get taiwanese spicy. Because, trust me. Your ass will be shooting out fire the next day. I really love their dipping sauces. It has a unique taste compared to its competitor sister stores. *cough* Y'all know the place I'm talking about, right? (well if you don't, ignore this. Don't worry about it). For first timers, try to go for lunch. It's a bit cheaper AND comes with green or black tea! WOW! What a deal! Ordered the number 10, the Thai flavor one while my boyfriend ordered their number 8, which came in one flavor only - extremely spicy!!!! They are not kidding when they say it's extremely spicy. However, it is so goooood! If you get this one, I recommend skimming the top of the broth to remove the excess oil of the spices, which makes it more spicy. We also got a side order of ramen for mine because I like the instant noodles with my hot pot. For number 10, it comes with instant noodles. All of their orders come with rice as well. Numbers #8, 9, and 10 are a bigger size so the price is like $16.99 while the smaller ones are like $13? We also ordered some drinks: taro milk tea with pearls, sweet milk with pearls, and old fashion something tea. I really like the sweet milk because I have a sweet tooth. However, my favorite is the Hokkaido tea but they are ALWAYS out of it. If you want to try it, I recommend coming early or for lunch. For dessert we got their coffee ice cream macaroon, and a strawberry ice cream macaroon. Pretty small for $4.75. We wanted their Hokkaido ice cubes but they were sold out as well. I came here around 6pm with a group of 8 on New Year's Day and got seated within 40 minutes. Not bad at all. First off... They make you wait outside and only outside. Plus the policy is that if you miss the number, they don't even call your cell phone or give any warnings. They just cross out your name and you're back on the stupid list. Out of all the individual hot pot places I've been to, Boiling Point is my all time favorite. They have some really good sauces. The garlic soy sauce is my absolute favorite, I've tried the other sauces but I'm not big on the chili oil or the fermented tofu paste. Everytime we eat here, I'd kill half the jar of the garlic soy sauce, yeah it's that yummy! If you really love the sauces here, you could also purchase bottles of them. The stinky tofu here isn't deep fried, which is a bummer because I truly believe that stinky tofu is only yummy when it's deep fried! It's only okay tasting. I suggest you skip it and just focus on your hot pot. All of the hot pots I've gotten were tasty. I just wish that they gave you a bit more vermicelli and less cabbage. If you don't like stinky tofu or pork's blood, I don't recommend the #1 because it has all those things. If you don't like things too spicy, I also wouldn't recommend the Taiwanese spicy hot pot. Also, if you're not a big eater, make sure you're not order the bigger pots. I used to order here frequently. But the quality has gone down ever since they got new staff. The quality has been very inconsistent. When i order mild, ive gotten a variety of spice levels other than the actual mild i used to consistently get. The old time delight milk tea ive gotten a few times lately have been a miss. Despite me saying 75% sweet, it still ends up tasting at 100% sweetness. The other time i think they gave me hokkaido milktea instead. However, I'm an LA girl and used to the Boiling Points there...our Boiling Points took out some of the flavors (ex: curry) and put in new ones (ex: Pomelo), we are also given the option of noodles or rice. This location doesn't have that, and they have the older flavors, so I was a bit thrown off. Aside from that, food was still good--albeit salty--and got the job done. Seating was in a somewhat awkward-yet-cozy long bench where you can hear everyone's conversations...trust me, I did not want to hear a girl talking about how she brings all them boys to the yard. The first time I passed by Boiling Point, I was shocked that there was even a Boiling Point in NorCal. Ironically, the first time I'd ever been to Boiling Point was in Seattle (and not L.A., where there are like a gazillion) and I absolutely loved it. So, of course, I resolved to go there. But when you finally get the call, it's super worth it. For all the craziness that this place has spawned, the staff here is very friendly and courteous. Quite the opposite that I'm used to from an Asian restaurant, but I will certainly take it. Got the lamb hot pot (flaming spicy of course!) and sliced beef on the side (since they don't have any combo meat pots. As much as I love doing hot pot on my own, they definitely know how to make a good bowl of hot pot. Super flavorful, insanely spicy, and the perfect amount of food. Let me preface this review by stating that Boiling Point should not be in contention to be the best hot pot place in the bay! I'm a massive Hot Pot Garden fan so get a beer and liqueur license and then maybe I'll convert to Team Boiling Point. They do offer a really good milk tea but I can't let the no beer thing go. I give this place 3 stars: + 1 star for Service: Frank was a really awesome server with a great attitude. He was attentive and kept an eye on us. He seems like a guy I'd hang out with but I'm not sure if he'd be willing to take our Server - Patron Relationship (message me, bro) to the next level. +1 star for Portion to Price ratio: This isn't your typical Hot Pot place. It's not AYCE but I really appreciate having the whole meal in front of me to dig into. I ordered the Japanese Miso (very spicy) for about $18 and was decently full after. You can't really order anything bad here but brace yourself before you try the Taiwanese Spicy. I tried it once and it lit me up like the Fourth of July. + 1 star for Quality to Price: Quality is above average and the broth was very good. I especially like the table sauces which take the flavor to the next level. - 1 star for Hype and Wait: My girlfriend's mom was kind enough to wait in line (because she wanted to give Boiling Point a try) but it's definitely not worth a 2+ hour wait. I've been to BP plenty of times in SoCal and an hour or less would be appropriate. - 1 star for Location: The parking lot is a greater disaster than Post-Katrina New Orleans. This is already busy, poorly designed parking lot which a ton of asian / terrible drivers (may or may not be a coincidence) before BP came in! Good luck finding a spot.. Once you get a spot, walking to the door is like a game of Frogger (except real life) so brace yourself. The worst part is that there's not even a bar in the area to help pass the time for my 2+ hour wait. I should open a bar next door. Oh man, it was such a huge mistake going here on opening weekend. The wait was ATROCIOUS. We showed up and hour early in line, and we still didn't get seated for at least 20 minutes AFTER they opened. In any case, I'm not going to mark them down for this, it's just the Customer Crowding, and not something they can help. Service is a bit spotty. They're friendly, but because they're so new, they don't seem to have all their stuff together just yet. It's pretty dim inside the restaurant, this isn't a pro or a con, just letting all you folks out there know who like to take pictures of your food....right fellow Yelpers? Anyway, the Food came out really fresh and hot. I got the Kimchi Flaming Hot. I'm a pretty big spicy eater, and this was more of a 'medium' to me. But I'm not a good gauge for this.... I was a bit disappointed with the ingredients in the bowl. There was a TON of Napa Cabbage and Silver Noodles and not nearly as much of every other ingredient. There was literally one clam in there. I guess that's to fulfill their description of the item. Not sure if this is standard. But if you're only going to put one clam in there...PLEASE MAKE SURE THERE'S NO SAND IN IT. Ruined the experience for me a bit. Overall though, it's pretty tasty. And when you want a bunch of varied ingredients in a hot soup without paying $25 at a hotpot join, this is the place to go. You'll probably get filled up while paying only half the price. I'd probably be back in a few months when they get everything settled. Decent prepared hot pot and will do the trick if you are craving a quick hot pot meal! It is the only boiling point around the area though so wait times can get long. To avoid wait times you can call in and ask about it before you head over. I'm not sure if they do yelp waitlist all the time but if that's open definitely put your name down first! I think the thing I like the most about boiling point will have to be their broth! Ever flavor I've tried so far had super flavorful broth and that's the best part in my opinion. For those looking for a little extra protein, you can also order a side of pork/beef/lamb and it's actually a decent portion size! I finally had a chance to try this place, after all the times I've seen people waiting outside. I was so excited to be able to add my name on the list electronically in the front tablet. A few minutes later, the couple in front of us got sat. No one really greeted us, so we stood around waiting. Another couple came in, and one of the employees talked to them. He didn't even think to ask about us, and told the new customers they would be sat soon. Then another employee walked up, looked at the list, then called our number. Hmm, hard to describe but things seemed rather disorganized. We sat down, and got menus. Then waited and waited, until we had to flag someone down. The food came quick once we ordered. Service overall was pretty non-existent though. Food was decent (hot pot was not out of this world but as expected to other taiwanese hot pots), but the service or lack thereof really impacted our experience. Employees seemed very unattentive to their customers needs. Kitchen seemed really dirty. Drinks seemed overpriced at about $5 each. Overall, for individual hot pots ranging from $15-20 each, it's not cheap and for this overall experience, I will recommend trying other places before coming here. read more

You get your own personal hot pot. Wait: expect to wait at least 1.5 hours to be seated for a party of 2 during lunch and dinner time. Put your name down and they give you a number. Go to 99 ranch to walk around or for a snack to kill time. I would recommend to come here during lunch rather than dinner. Why? Lunch is a few bucks cheaper and comes with a drink! But dinner cost a few bucks more with no drink?? WTF...it's the exact same thing! We tried: - Beef: it didn't come with much beef as I expected. I would still recommend beef if I want a slightly smaller portion - Miso (Large): I got the mild and it was not spicy at all so I had to dip a lot of their house sauce. The broth is just standard nothing special. I would get the medium spicy next time. - Taiwanese (flaming hot only) - LOL this is effin spicy af. I didn't order this but I tried a few things and it's pretty good but I can't eat this all by myself bc it only comes in flaming hot. WTF again... it's just the ingredients and you pour the broth...I would love to get this in medium spicy bc I like all of the ingredients in this. What a shame. Sauces: chili oil, soy sauce with some other flavor, and their house sauce (the orangish color). Got seated 5 minutes after getting a waiting list ticket. Super fast, no one knows about this location yet, parking is so easy to find you just close your eyes, press on the gas pedal a little bit and you've parked perfectly. They feed you the soup, and when you ask for an "order of sliced beef, please" they don't say "no sorry we are rationing out our beef slices because of the soft opening" they say, "sure, I will give you extra slices of beef because the cow is a large animal and even if we run out beef there is a motherfuckin' RANCH 99 market across the damn parking lot to buy more emergency sliced beef if we run out so I will feed you more sliced beef because you are our customer and I love you." /s The soup is good, the wait is atrocious, the parking sucks and after awhile the restaurant smells like stinky tofu (aka fermented ass cheeks). Also, I was really interested in getting the original wok noodle as a side item and I asked the waiter to describe it to me. This waiter, master of the art of selling, beautifully describes it using only two words... ... "instant noodle." ... I ended up not buying it. I really enjoyed Boiling Point down in SoCal, so when it opened up in Fremont, I knew I had to stop by. We came on a Sunday for dinner as a party of five. We lined up at 4:20PM for the 6:00PM dinner opening. An hour and 40 minutes is actually not too bad. I've waited much longer at other restaurants. At around 5:40PM, one of the workers came out from the restaurant and wrote our name down on the list and passed out numbers. We shared the Spicy Fermented Tofu as an appetizer. The spicy fermented tofu did not impress me at all. It tasted like the stinky tofu from the House Special Soup except this tofu was drenched in chili oil. It was cold and not tasty. :( I had the Thai Flavor Soup (mild), which came with cabbage, sliced pork, enoki mushroom, cuttlefish ring, fish ball, clam, crab, baby octopus, and shrimp. I thought the soup was a bit bland. It wasn't too flavorful. Too much veggies and skimpy on the meat. :( On the bright side, the shrimps were pretty meaty and big. Also, since they're in their soft opening stage, we did not have the option to choose between rice or vermicelli. We were automatically given rice. Since they're still in the soft opening stages, some of the items on the menu were not available yet. Service wasn't too bad for us that night; however, they did forget about our appetizer until we brought it up to them. The Boiling Point down in SoCal definitely tastes way better and is worth the hour wait. I didn't think the wait was worth it here at Fremont. Hopefully in a few months, they work out their kinks and I can update my review then. read more

I love me some hot pot! The shabu kind where you cook your own ingredients as you eat and now cropping up everywhere, the kind where everything is in one pot! I like both for different reasons and it really depends on ones mood. Boiling Point is the one pot version. Apparently a very popular chain from Socal which I have never patronized so I can't compare. I heard and seen the crazy crowds outside when I get my Gong Cha fix so I was prepared when I arrived. Weekday lunch- check Arrived early- check formed a line- check had some asian couple totally ignore the fact that we were all in line and nonchalantly CUT in line- check ( wouldnt be an authentic experience without it ) The hostest promptly passed out numbers at 11:45 and started seating at 12pm Crowd wasnt as bad as I thought even though it was a Friday. I ordered the miso and the mini me ordered the beef hotpot. Overall impression? Eh, it was ok. It looks like a large serving but was mostly cabbage. Not napa cabbage which I love in my hot pot but regular cabbage which isnt as good for this type of eating in my opinion. All hot pots came with either black or green ice tea. I don't think I will be back. Once was enough. I much prefer HotPot First in Sunnyvale. If you havent tried and you like the hot pot scene, it wouldnt hurt to go. I'd been hearing from my boyfriend and his sister about how amazing this place is. My boyfriend and I were finally in the area so I suggested we go. The price is great for the amount that you get. However, maybe I was expecting it to be more like shabu than what I got. I understand Taiwanese hot pot is different from Japanese hot pot (let me just throw that out there before I get hate comments haha). I love the portions. I love that they give you complimentary tea! They have a good selection and don't forget to check out their add-ons. Fortunately, we arrived at the right time because we got seated right away. We noticed the overflow of people that arrived after us and the waiting began. Lucky us! Quick service. Helpful staff. Darn, we didn't get a loyalty card though. Parking sucks in this plaza. Been into hot pot lately and wanted to give this place a try. No wait. Were seated immediately, surprisingly. From what I heard, this place used to be a super long wait, but I guess the hype died down over the year? I ordered #4 which was their beef hot soup. It came with a buncha things like beef, lettuce, different types of tofu, enoki mushrooms, imitation crab, vermicelli, etc. Got it mild spicy this time because I didn't want my mouth to be in flames from the possible spicy level of 1000 like my last time at hot pot. Mild was a little spicy here...I can't even imagine what medium would've been like. I'm giving this a three stars only because I'm comparing it to Tasty Pot. First of all, for the same price at Tasty Pot, it seems like they give you a whole lot less. The vegetable to meat ratio was definitely off. Too much cabbage and two or three pieces of meat? Meh. The broth wasn't as flavorful as Tasty Pot's, but it was still good. And of course, the most important part... the iced green tea. Well, I had the option to choose between black and green, but I chose green since I wanted to compare it to the one at Tasty Pot which I LOVE so much. Unfortunately, the teas here were premade in sealed containers, so they were left out for a while which watered them down so it wasn't THAT good. Tasty Pot green tea forever! There's always a wait here no matter the weather! But it's so worth it! No reservations, so you'll have to get a number. Make sure your entire party is present or else you won't be seated. Parties of 2 usually get seated faster. This is the only location in NorCal (so far). PARKING: Located in a big plaza with several other eateries, so parking can be a little hectic. Drop someone off to grab a number before trying to find parking to get a place in line. LUNCH: BP offers a lunch special here! Hot soup/rice + drink for $11.99 (or $15.99 if you pick a large size pot). The drink option is either an iced black tea or green tea. DINNER: Hot soup/rice for $12.99 for a regular size or $16.99 for a large size. HOT SOUP CHOICES: Half of the choices are spicy and the other half aren't! So it caters to everyone. I've had the Miso Soup as well as the Curry Fishball Hot Soup and they are both great! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. Where do I begin with boiling point.... so ever since this location opened up I probably came here about 100 times already. They use to have a curry fish ball pot and it was my all time favorite~!! I was so sad when they took it away. Now I get number 1, which is the house special with stinky fermented tofu. It's super delicious! I usually get it with vermicelli and no rice. The service here is pretty good, and they usually give you basil seed with lemonade drink at the end, but today they didn't give us any.
