I had been eating in this restaurant for almost 2 years now, from good to bad then to good again. The hot pot is too unique and delicious to let it go of it. If you love hot pot with different favours and fill up your appetites, of course with great price, this is the place to be. If you are looking for a good service and a cheap price, you will be disappointed, because the waiters and waitresses there are also cook and drink maker and cashier. Haven't eaten here since I moved to Vancouver and it was good for individual hotpot. I don't usually think of coming 'cause it's always packed and you'd have to wait. It seemed like this place is usually super busy, but my family and I waited for about 10-15minutes for a table. Service was decent.. We had to get their attention a few times, but wasn't bad. Did everything we asked. Servers made sure everything was OK and they were pretty cool with my dad being super talkative to them. Food was pretty good. No complaints. I'm not sure about the negative comments about the service, because I've been there several times and it's been great! As a student, the price is descent for a hotpot, Especially when the quantity is huge. I wouldn't say it's the best quality but there's meat and a generous amount of cabbage. There's also rice or maybe a drink that comes with the hotpot. I recommend the classic stinky pot and the veggie pot! The classic stinky pot is great for first timer since there's a little bit of everything. The veggie pot is great for veggie AND meat lovers. There's a great option of having meat with the veggie pot for free. Which is a GREAT deal! Personally I think it's a little sour-y thought. Probably because of the tomatoes. This was my first time trying hot pot. I went on a Sunday around 12:30 and luckily there was no rush or wait time. I got the lamb bowl with vermicelli noodles and medium heat. Everything about this place is fantastic, with one star taken away from some awkward service. Other that that, I really hope that there's eventually going to be a location in Texas so I have closer access! Each option costs anywhere between $14-18 (with the higher range ones on the right side of the menu but they looked PACKED with ingredients). Although there was a Taiwanese option that I was digging, there were some things like intestines that I'm not used to eating. The beef option was perfect for me. I was going to share with my brother but these aren't terribly large portions (the pictures of each bowl just look that way). They serve the shallow bowl in a metal rack that keeps it cool to touch, but allows for a fire to burn underneath and keep your soup hot. We had to request for the waiter to put the fire out just 10 min into our meal. The medium spicy was SO spicy, so if you like spice but not enough for it to distract your meal, get something less. :) I bow down to all who can handle more than that... Enoki mushrooms. I've been to this location 5 times altogether and it's the same each and every time I come here. The service here is absolutely terrible. The servers look extremely pissed off and they don't pay attention to their customers. We waited for about 20 minutes until we got our order taken and that was after raising our hand. The server took the order of the table next to us first even though we were seated first. On one occasion, my friend ordered a drink and hers came first and before her food arrived while mine didn't come until I asked the server halfway as I was eating my hot pot. I picked up my spoon and noticed it was dirty and my friend had a dirty pair of chopsticks. I don't think I'll be coming here ever again, the service is terrible and the utensils are dirty. It also irritates me that the staff there speak to me on Mandarin because I don't speak the language and I've been using English to communicate with them prior. HORRIBLE service. Would not even give 1 star if I could. 6 of us arrived and we all sat down, right after we ordered we realised 7th person is coming so we asked to add one more chair to our table. "Nope. We can't do that". So we asked if we could all move to other tables as there were 2 tables that would fit all 7 of us (4 + 4) right next to each other. "Sorry we can't.". Not only we can't sit together, initially she said only one person can sit by himself while the 6 sit together. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! Not only we cannot sit together, we actually had to sit separately (6 + 2) that completely ruin our lunch gathering. Basically mini hot pots, and their lunch is a pretty good deal. $8.99 for hotpot of your choice (favourite is seafood), a bowl of rice, and either green or red tea (good red tea, I must add). The garlic and bean sauce is quite nice too. Loved it first couple times I went. BUT!!!! The last time I went (Sunday) the service was horrible. They tried to seat the people lined up behind us first until we pointed it out. Okay, they were at full capacity and only had 2 waiters. Maybe they got mixed up because there were so many people, so I can sort of understand. Then they went on to give them utensils and menus first. Did I mention they took their orders first too? Hot pot is very very yummy here. It's portioned for each individual to consume, and I really like that. I think their hot pots come in packages or something; I asked them if they can take out the glass noodles but they said they're unable to do that. Oh well. I actually didn't mind the glass noodles, as they were very soft and flavorful. It had decent amount of goodies, and the soup was very tasty too. Dipping sauces played a huge role in it too...*drool* I do agree with other reviewers who point out this place's lack of attention to the customers. It was really hard to flag down someone for a new spoon (because it was dirty in the first place), or for some water. It's either a hit or a miss for me sometimes. I say that because every time I go, I try a different soup of hot pot. Some days I love it and some days I don't. For the most part, if I go and order my favorites then it's delicious! My favorite is the curry!!! Whenever I get that, I am always satisfy. Found a ugly huge freaking bug in my soup after I ate the entire thing. I was spooning the soup up and all of a sudden a BIG BLACK BUG floated up to the top. Feeling disgusted, I told the waiter and he did not even offer to take the item off the bill. He merely gave us a 10% discount discount coupon for NEXT visit and two teas on the house. I then told him I won't eat there again and have no use for the coupon. None of us wanted the drinks either. Again, after learning that we did not want the drinks, he did nothing about it. We didn't take the drinks. It is mind blowing how he thinks it is acceptable to charge full price for a dish that has a bug in it! I am reporting this place to the health authorities! A couple days after this review BP Canadian corporate office contacted me thru yelp for an apology and complimentary visit. I was very surprised and happy about their warm apology. This also gave me the opportunity to tell them about the bad service I had at my last visit. I asked to visit their Burnaby location instead since it was closer to my home. At our arrival we were warmly greeted and seated. I showed the email detailing the complimentary offer for TWO people to the manager and to my surprise he offered to waive the entire bill even though we had four people at our table. During the whole visit we were treated very well, service was quick and the staff attentative. The food came steamy hot and tasted great. We ask received a personal apology from the regional manager and a buy 1 get 1 free coupon for next visit. When I was leaving, the manager offered a gift containing four of their house sauces to take home. Thank you for making the effort. It's something I wouldn't mind having again but also wouldn't care to go if it's out of my way. This place didn't really smell like stinky tofu when we were there, but there was a heavy smell of hotpot flavours though. By the time you leave the place you will smell like hotpot as well :( The place is clean, simple, and modern, but isn't enough on my books to deserve 4 stars. I don't have high expectations for service when it comes to Chinese restaurants, but this service was by far the worst. I think the employees are high school students and just lack attentiveness or something, not that they purposely are trying to be rude. We had the Japanese hot pot, beef hot pot, and kimchi hot pot. All of them were fine. The broths all tasted pretty good and came with lots of veggies. Noodles and meat were a little bit more lacking. I'm not a big fan of the concept though. All of the ingredients are already put into the pot and comes out lukewarm. Then, they light the fire underneath to get everything boiling, which means waiting for the food to get hot. Soon, some of the ingredients end up overcooking, since they have been sitting in broth for so long. I'd rather be able to control what I put in and when. Plus, my hot pot started boiling and sputtering, making it hard for me to continue eating. I had to wave down the waiter three times to get him to come over and put the flame out for me. This place is tucked in the corner of a plaza. Parking is minimal as it is in an area surrounded by other restaurants as well. Taiwanese style hot soup which comes with a bowl of rice. I've tried the kimchi style soup and the special stinky tofu soup. They are both decent, nothing too special but very comforting on a cold rainy day. When I was halfway done, I flagged down another server. I asked for water and tea. She said there's no tea, only water. In addition, the hot pot was put down very haphazardly. This may be the more sanitized version of hotpot. Never have I been to a place with personal hotpots before so this was a treat. That is until I experienced the service. You will not find a worse group of servers in this area. Every single person was super FML. Little to no words were spoken to us until the food came and they had to advise us what they were holding. In terms of taste, it wasn't bad, but the quantity and quality of meat was lacking. For the beef, they use beef skirts which is the cheapest part of a cow. The one I had was the miso flavour and it was way too fishy, mainly because they used a frozen crab and it made the whole pot fishy. Ordered a lychee slush and it tasted more like a ice cone with ice chucks throughout. If I come back next time I would expect that the service levels to be the same but I may add more beef on the side. Don't get anything seafood!!! read more

Taiwanese hot pot. I like their food, I always order their traditional hot pot with pork, intestines, stinky tofu, cabbage and a quail egg. Their dipping sauce is to die for. I come here often as pricing is also very reasonable with a large bowl of rice. You can ask to add more soup to your pot if it is running low. I recommend medium spicy for their hot pots. Little spicy is not spicy at all and mild spicy feels a little watered down (soup is not as flavorful). Their drinks are cheap if you order it with your meal, however it's not their specialty. So don't expect really high quality bubble tea. Service at this location is not great. It takes forever to flag down the person. I frequently come here as I fly through Vancouver either as a final stop and/or layover to another destination. This place is good as a quick bite to eat as it is close to the airport and the food is served quick because it is already partially cooked. The only complaint I have is the portion they gave you is small for what they charge. The pot looks quite big but it is quite shallow. After hearing much about boiling point in southern california, I was excited to try it since I was in Richmond for the holidays and there happened to be one near where I was staying. We were seated promptly as we just beat the lunch rush, but after being seated service was very apparently nonexistent. There were two males working and they were both pretty incompetent when it comes to customer service, constantly asking us to hold on, and just being completely inattentive throughout our meal. One server (I assume the busboy?) was particularly incompetent, forgetting to bring our rice with our hotpots, and after we asked for the rice, he quickly went to fill some bowls with rice and literally drop them off at our table -- with enough force that the bowls were rocking back and forth. This server basically had no courtesy whatsoever and was either having a really bad day or just needed to be fired. Anyway, the food itself was alright. I have definitely had better quality ingredients at other hot pot places but for the price point, it was acceptable. The meats were obviously frozen as all our pots had meat in a single clump meaning they probably ripped off a piece of the frozen meat slices and put it in the pot to cook. Overall, I left warm, full, and satisfied with my food, but there was definitely a LOT left to be desired in terms of service. If you want cheap hotpot and don't plan to come during rush hours, this place is decent. But if poor service irks you then definitely go somewhere else as it will not be worth the wait. read more

The first time I tried BP was the one in Burnaby so my second time was this one in Richmond. I ordered the beef soup non-spicy. Everything in the dish was tasty but there was one issue, it was so Spicy! I'm not sure if their non-spicy is actually non-spicy... My whole mouth was burning the entire meal so I had to ask for a lot of water refills which was no problem (servers were attentive). Other than the spice, I really enjoyed the paste and oil they put on the side for you. The garlic soy sauce was my favourite and complimented well with my meat and vegetables. Overall, the food here was okay, but the experience service-wise was a bit frustrating. Servers were pretty nice and accommodating when we were able to get their attention, and were willing to re-light our hot pots or add more water when we requested it. My one major complaint though is that they were not clear about things which resulted in extra charges. For example, you can choose either rice or vermicelli with your order, which is complimentary. I asked the waitress if I could have instant noodle instead, and she said it was fine, but I ended up being charged the full $2 add-on price for the noodles. At the very least, I would have expected her to bring it to my attention that the substitution would result in an extra charge. My friend also at first asked if she could get milk tea as her free drink, and was told that it would cost extra, so she ordered a passionfruit green tea instead. The waitress said that was fine, but when the bill came, my friend was charged full price for her drink. The guy at the cash was nice and gave my friend a free iced green tea when we complained, but at the same time, the lack of transparency and clarity was annoying. The food is decent and pretty flavourful, although I guess I just don't enjoy the hot pot experience that much and find it hard to eat with steam getting all up in your face. I got the beef hot pot which does come with a lot of stuff, but also seems to contain a disproportionate amount of napa cabbage. They also seem to calibrate the spice level quite high here - I ordered mild and it was quite a bit more intense than I was expecting. My friend ordered the Taiwanese Spicy pot which only comes in "flaming spicy" level. She normally can handle really spicy food and said she had had the same soup at the Burnaby location no problem, but found this one to be too spicy. Best to come here for lunch, as it is $1 off compared to their dinner price (for the same size portion) and you also get a free iced green or black tea. It's a pretty good deal, as most of the regular sized hot pots are $12.99 and the portion is quite large (I had some left over.) Best to come before noon if you want to avoid waiting on a weekend. Now that I know better re: costs and spice levels, I imagine if I were to come here again I might have a better experience. But for my first visit, I can say I wasn't particularly impressed. read more

If you're in the mood for hotpot, however don't really want to go for All You Can Eat, you can come check this place out. The portions are made out for each individual with other add-ons if you choose. I would say this would be my go-to place for Taiwanese hotpot, it's convenient and quite flavourful. My go to dishes here would be the Curry Hotpot and the Japanese Miso hot pot. They have 3 types of hotpot which come in "bigger and better" sizes which I do admit are bigger in size, but not really worth the price in my opinion. I usually get their "boiling point" house noodles, which is really just yee mein, on the side to such up the flavour of the broth which i feel due to the sauce of the curry is really good. The service here can be slow at times even though they have many people on staff. I think it's because if you come during dinner or lunch rush and due to the large amount of orders they can only get items out in a finite amount of time. Their bubble tea's actually not bad either, especially the Hokkaido milk tea. Would definitely recommend you give that a try. They recently opened up a location in Burnaby on Kingsway past Metrotown. Haven't given it a try, but will be visiting it soon. Hopefully (because this company is a franchise) it'll have the same standard of service and food as the Richmond location! read more

This place serves Taiwanese style stinky tofu hotpot. Though what they have is not that authentic, it is the closest thing you could find in Vancouver. The portion are dedcent for a $10 bucks meal. The soup base is pretty tasty. My complaint will be the size of pig blood, intestine, meat etc for their house special hot pot - I remember they used to be wayyy bigger the first time I went. Now its hard to find my pig blood in the pot...trying to save on costs? lol or maybe I was pretty hungry that night, who knows. But I guess I can't lie that I actually crave for their hot pot once in a while. It is a great place to go if you are just looking for something hot and spicy to warm you up on a cold glommy day!! The drink was really good because it was a sweet green tea like the ones you can buy bottled at supermarkets like T&T. Service: Went here for lunch with co-workers on one of the coldest days (it was snowing and probably - 5 degrees Celcius) in Vancouver. It was super busy at 12:30pm, so the place was packed by people who thought the same thing as us that hot pot would be great for this sort of weather. We had a party of 4 but it took them 15 - 20 minutes to sit us down. They had only one waitress during that afternoon shift while the cooks would help bring out the hot pots. We were discussing that the management should have been prepared knowing that since the weather was pretty bad, they should have called in more waiters or waitresses to help their business... Atmosphere: The seating is a mix of booth and chairs. The music was super weird because they had a selection of North American Rap, Top 40, to Mandarin songs and the music was off for 10 minutes during some point while we ate. It seemed like someone's playlist was not set properly. Extra comments: The tricky part of eating anything soup based is that the items always stay hot for a long time and it's difficult to eat within a limited time of 30 minutes since we didn't get seated right away and the time it took them to get our orders. read more

Literally the worst place you could go to eat dinner. Go to dollar shop, they offer a much more premium experience. They told us the wait was 15-20 minutes, but made us wait 1hour 20 minutes.
