This review might be a bit biased as I love hot pots however they are - mini personalized pots or shared hot pots. I live hot soup with noodles and a variety of meats and ingredients. Hot pots are my comfort food. Boiling Point's concept is simple - prepared mini pots with different ingredients and flavours. We were basically asked whether we like udon or vermicelli. Some pots come spicy and spice level can be made less spicy to your liking. There are sauces and spices on the table. We ordered the House Special Hot Soup, Seafood &Tofu Hot Soup and Beef Hot Soup. Each were good, portions were more than enough for me. I always love a hot pot of noodle soup, my type of comfort food for sure.

Boiling Point restaurant is highly recommended for its affordable hot pots. They have a variety of choices such as beef soup, Korean soup, seafood, curry etc. My friends and I went there a few times and we got to taste different flavours, we ended up liking beef, Korean and seafood, there are times when the hot pot is full of veggies and little meat sometimes just the right amount but overall it's fulfilling and sometimes theirs even leftover, cause we're so full. For about twenty dollars you get a hot pot, your choice of rice or vermicelli, free milk teas during lunchtime and a jelly snack. I can say it is worth trying out if you haven't checked on them yet.

They offer bean thread or steamed rice with hot pot

It's so busy here On a Friday night, we waited for 20min for a table They don't take reservations here They have photos of the hot pot on the wall without descriptions so the scanned QR code menu is more helpful The Lamb hot pot was pretty tasty. It comes with thin slices of lamb, tofu, cabbage, egg, beam thread, 1 clam, imitation crab stick, firm tofu, pork blood, mushrooms and pickled veggies. I also get a choice of extra bean thread or bowl or steamed rice They also give a cup of water in a sealed cup ( like the ones for bubble tea) to each guest instead of reusable cups. The food was tasty and the order is ready in a flash I understand that dinner rush is busy, but the staff were also very loud when cleaning tables quickly and stacking the finished hot pot stands away. It was just very inconsiderate for the patrons who are eating and having to hear all this. I would probably come back on a weeknight to try their other hot pot and drinks It's very tough to find parking in this plaza

Beef hot pot, $18.15 (dinner price), 9/10: One of boiling points classics, and my first time trying the beef HP from here! I love how the beef is thinly sliced which absorbs more flavour in the soup. The portions of the veggies and other ingredients were also very generous making it a balanced meal! I recommend dipping your food in their garlic soy sauce.Spiciness is adjustable too! Scallion gravy rice (+$1.25 upgrade from reg rice), 6/10: Rice portions are also huge! I wanted to try this out but overall nothing special. The strong onion taste of the scallion didn't go too well with the runny gravy, and it did get more salty & oily at the end. If you don't want to upgrade you can always stick with their complimentary vermicelli or regular white rice! They will also provide free lemon jellies after your meal The last time I went was Nov. 2020. Since then their seating area now is back to full capacity, and we were able to get a spot right away on a Saturday evening! Boiling point continues to keep it safe with plexi glass as well. Service is still really good with the employees checking in on our food! Everything came within 5 mins, love the efficiency! Lunch time is cheaper & it comes w/ a free drink but dinner is just as enjoyable!

We were here on a friday dinner. Its always busy here. The parking lot is pretty small shared with other restaurants so it takes awhile to look for a spot. I would recommend one person to go in the place and reserve a spot as they call the number when a table gets ready. So obviously there's no reservation in advance here. They have the QR menu available while waiting so when we sat down we were all ready to place our orders. We ordered the seafood and tofu and the beef flavour The portion is good! Unlimited soup. Very tasty! Their prices went up since last I was here but COVID happened. They check vaccination identification and have a plexi glass to separate your party from the other table. Clean but I wish you can just pay in ur table instead of lining up just because we have the boiling point reward card.

I give it four stars for the concept but I wish they had more fish filet options. Lots of vegetables and you can ask for less salt. Not a big fan of fatty pieces of pork or pork blood. I recommend to try this place when you're in an exotic mood. 20 minute wait time last Sunday -- when you arrive, take a number and wait. Ask for a menu while you're waiting because it's a lot of reading. Was going to prefer the flower pop but changed my mind because I found out it's not 'pop' it's just tapioca pearls in chrysanthemum flavoured water with brown sugar. Cool name though!

Cold? hungry? and want something hot in order to warm up in the raincouver weather? Why not try Taiwanese Hot Pot, especially when you have your own serving, another words your own order - this place is something that you should consider visiting. This Boiling point Richmond location for some reason taste better, from the broth to the meat - in my honest opinion it taste fresher!! I order the Lamb Hot Pot - and does not taste gamey at all. My partner ordered the house special hot pot - she like it as well! Very tasty! However dinner parking can be a challenge and be hard to find. It gets very busy!! This location gets busy during 5:00 pm and onwards. You need to take a ticket to ensure you're lined up to wait for a seat. It does move quite quickly though. Service is very good and when we wanted tea or water - extra napkins. The waitresses ensured that we got the service and she was in training - well done!! Will come back again !

Haven't been here for a while, so it was time to hit it up again. This place is chock full of college kids. My buddy and I felt super old eating here. The interior looks pretty much the same as before as well. Their hot pot seems to have improved compared to the last time I was here (5 years ago). Looks like there's more food in the pots now. The spice levels on the menu are tailored to North American standards (ie weak sauce). I had my pot "very spicy" (3 chili peppers) and didn't even blink. Extra meat can be had for a few bucks more. Just be sure to cook any raw meat before the gel flame under the pot runs out.

I was surprise how different this Boiling Point is compared to the Seattle one. I had a little bit too much of an expectation here to begin with. Concept is the same. Well food menu and drinks are the same. Came in put down your name and wait to be called. LIke the one in USA, lots of young people here. But of course this BP is way smaller than the Seattle one. So I ordered the lamb hot soup and my mom ordered the seafood veggie hot soup. Well my lamp hot soup doesn't have much lamb. Well told them to get rid of the pork blood (sounds really nasty) well I don't want bloody soup. Apparently you can take out but not substitute. Oh well. One less thing in my pot for the same price. My mom ordered the Seafood Veggie Hot Soup and I was surprised. When I saw it I was like is that Veggie soup?? I asked and the newbie trainie guy said yes. So I see more green then seafood. I mean there is hardly any seafood in there. But at the end of the day my mom and I were full. The drinks are good but not as good as the Seattle Boiling Point. My mom and I both got the Hokaido milk tea, which I proudly recommended to her. As a tip you will be better off to order rice then vermicelle and the reason why is that the hot soup already come with vermcellie. The rice will make it less soupy. You don't have to eat the rice but the rice acts like it soaks up the soup kind of idea. Unless you like to have soup then rice might not be ideal. Like I say I was a bit disappointed when realizing the Seattle one is way better.

From my last review Feb 2011, I didn't return to Boiling Point over 2 years. It's time to write another update review. Basically, not much change on menu even the quality of food. I found they have few new items on the menu and price increased. My hubby ordered curry fish balls hot pot in medium spicy was ok. Curry based broth was so light and only has 5 fish balls and other mixed vegetables with rice. My beef hot pot in mild spicy wasn't spicy at all and beef so chewy. The super thin tofu with small chuck of corn with some vegetables made the pot look better.

I would have to give this 3 stars. Although I do come here often for a hot pot fix, there are a few things I like/dislike about this location. To start, I don't really understand their ticketing system. Sometimes they have seats that are empty but they are not seating anyone. It's quite painful coming here with a group, definitely try to avoid coming here if you have more than five people in your party. It's not worth the wait and they don't take reservations. I do quite enjoy their food - I recommend the beef and the lamb soup. Big portioned and comes with rice or vermicelli. You can also choose the spice level. I also like their Hokkaido Milk Tea. Sometimes they make it sweet and sometimes they make it taste a tad bit watery. The dinner price is a $1+ more than their lunch price. Service - this is where I am quite iffy about. Sometimes we get excellent service and sometimes it's not that great. The times we get good service is where the waiter/waitress were very attentive and came by often. The not-so-good service was when they really messed up our order quite badly. From wrong food, spice level, and drinks (happened a few times). It gets to a point where they get really confused with the orders and comes by often to reaffirm our order. All-in-all, still one of my favorite hot pot place. Just don't mind the service, have your fill of hot pot and go! TIP: Boiling Point takes debit/credit. Don't try coming in during rush hour as it does get quite busy and you might be waiting for more than 30 minutes.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.

The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)

However, once I saw the humongous portions, I believe this vendor should clearly be categorized as cheap eats. For example, for roughly $10, you get three large pork chops (fried or marinated, I slightly preferred the fried more), sautéed cauliflower in XO sauce, soy braised tofu skin (so good I paid for extra $5 portion), crunchy pickles, stewed fish tofu, marinated egg, and a whole separate box of white rice. This is easily $15-20 in NYC. Same price for the crispy, tender, and juicy Chicken Nuggets (aka Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken) with all the trimmings. The quality of every item in the box was top notch and all very delicious. What many customers ordered that interests me for the next visit was the Salt & Pepper Chicken (椒麻鸡), which was basically a huge piece of pounded chicken thigh, battered like the popcorn chicken, with a mala sauce on top. This is a gem for the people who live locally in the area. Such bang for the buck!
