My buddies and I researched a breakfast place before heading up to Pismo beach on a Saturday. Bolt happened to be right off the 101 freeway so it was perfect for us. This place offers simple yet delicious brunch food. We collectively got an eggs benedict, the Bolt breakfast, a breakfast burrito and 3 coffees. I enjoyed a warm cappuccino with a splash of oat milk for an extra charge. This place was quiet and inviting, nice young man with a scruffy beard asked to take my order. It got a little busy later on in which I shared my table with another patron. Bakery items were a quick grab and boy was the "GF Apple Cinnamon Muffin" a hit. Thanks for the recommendation. Great little restaurant in East Hollywood! It's a little hole in the wall. The exterior of the restaurant doesn't look particularly nice, but the interior is wonderful. It's trendy and simple and clean. The area that the building is located in is not the best, (we were approached by 2 separate homeless men on our walk back to our car), but it's what you'd expect in East Hollywood. The food and coffee were both decently priced for the size. I got the chicken rice bowl and it was warm and tasty. It would have tased better with a sauce, but it was still tasty. The coffee was also delicious. There were a lot of people on their laptops working. Besides the music, the restaurant was very quiet so it's good for working. It's definitely the best coffee shop/restaurant within a few blocks! read more

It was one of those days where I just needed a place where its fairly quiet, I can get my cup of coffee, take out my laptop and get some work done. It was either Bolt or another coffee shop that is down the street from there, but for some reason I just decided to go to Bolt. I walk in and go to the counter looking for a menu. The 6'6" huge buff man behind the counter pointed at the wall and it was a list of sandwiches and whatnot. So I ordered a coffee, I was really torn, I couldn't figure out if I wanted a mocha or a coffee, but the man intimated me so I just said Coffee! lol And the coffee tasted great! I have to honestly say that they make a great cup of coffee! The huge intimidating man later asked me if everything was cool and if I needed the wifi password, which turned my perspective of him into a nice softy, but it was really cool of him to ask. There are a few things that I really liked about this shop - as odd as it sounds, their bathroom was super clean! This makes a huge difference to me, especially due to the effects coffee takes on my stomach. Another is the open seating and long tables. I think its awesome cause it allows people to be social, it allows people to be private, it allows people to have groups if necessary, etc. And lastly, if I heard right, the owners run the shop (I think the huge buff guy is an owner too) and they seemed to be super nice. Not necessarily to me directly, but there were people who would come by and talk to them and maybe some regulars and the owners were really kind hearted which you don't really see much of this day and age. So this spot is a really cool, chill spot to go grab a coffee and whatnot. I really wanted to try their pastries/desserts out but I was full from lunch (totally sucks for me!). Hopefully I'll be by another time to try it out. If you're in the area, come by and try this place out. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did!! read more

This is going to be an awesome coffee shop, I can tell. I've been waiting for them to open as it took them a year and a half to open and this is just their second day. Dan, one of the owners says they are shooting to officially open in the new year so for now, it's friends and family or curious locals who wander by. It's a nice open space inside with high ceilings and makes me feel like I'm in New York for some reason. For right now, the offerings are scant with them just serving coffee and a few pastries. The pastries are made on the premise though by one of the three owners and are styled after east coast type goodies. I had the Coffee Crumble which one of the owners Dan, made. It was really good. Also tried a large coffee. For offerings, there was also a coffee cake and a Maple Scone which looked very, very unique and tasty. I'm told that the coffee they are serving is a Cape Cod blend called Beanstalk. It wasn't bad, east coast got it right. They will be offering a full breakfast, with pancakes, French toast and breakfast burritos and egg sandwiches but give them time as the sign says it's "coming soon"! Can't wait. There is free wifi and large tables, as well as sidewalk seating. This is probably going to be my go to spot from now on. Avocado toast is superb. Chili flakes on top that gives a little kick. French toast is one of the best I've had. It's paired with cheddar cheese and sliced green apples. The coffee is amazing, reminded me of Colombian coffee in Colombia. Great space, trendy ambience, modern. read more

Wonderful new coffee joint. I was sold once I saw "EaHo" on the sign (it's a thing ) and that they serve breakfast burritos. I've been searching for my new bfast burrito place since I escaped the valley. This is the best one I have found yet (see pic). For other breakfast burrito connoisseurs, here's my review: the bfast burrito with bacon ($8). It's the perfect size- not a massive American portion, but don't worry, the ingredients are generous servings of quality ingredients. I'd like to thank the chef for cooking my bacon to perfection. They were rolled into the burrito as full pieces so I got a piece of it in every bite. Perfect combo of crispy and melt-in-your-mouth bacon. The burrito is also stuffed with baked potato, scrambled eggs, (I think cheddar) cheese, and salsa. The salsa is mild and fresh, but if you're like me you'd want a little more in the burrito- maybe order an extra side of it. My iced dirty chai was very good. It wasn't disgustingly sweet like drinking cake that spikes your blood sugar then puts you into a coma. The place is so new (six weeks in) that there wasn't a coffee menu yet, but there will be soon. No problem since my barista could tell me everything there was to offer and my choice was simple :) For being so new, there sure were a lot of people coming in. That's a good sign. I am hanging around finishing my coffee and see that the two guys who own the place are here behind the counter hustling with their staff. They're all very easy on the eyes too if ya know what I mean Looks like they do private events because they are closed tomorrow afternoon for one. There's a few tables outside the front and it looks like there's parking in the rear. Style is all hip industrial and the artwork is great. I came here for breakfast with my cousin on a Sunday morning. When entering the restaurant the first thing I noted was how small it was, it wasn't a problem but just something to note if you're trying to avoid being close to people. There were markers for being 6 feet apart and the line went by quickly. I ordered a latte with the California Cobb Scramble and my cousin did the same. What impressed me most about this restaurant was the worker taking orders was really hustling, he was making coffees, taking orders, taking phone calls. It was kind of crazy to see, we got our food fairly quickly and the quality of the food was good. Unimpressed. I asked if they did tea lattes and they only offered to put a tea bag with steamed milk. They do not brew loose leaf tea. Barista was not very friendly and brewed my tea incorrectly. When I move to Los Angeles in August 2022 I think this is the first breakfast place we tried. And we loved it. It was the best breakfast sandwich I'd ever had. We got the English muffin with bacon and cheddar and egg on it and everything was high-end. The cheddar was high in the bacon was high in the English muffin was perfection. It was an extremely good experience. I later found the ultimate bolt breakfast sandwich and that's even better. Holy smokes. I may go get that today. I tend to order on Yelp and it's reasonably priced and they're very quick. One of their employees asked me not to do that order on Yelp because it needs their margins and I tried not to do that for a while. But it's a long wait and line. If you don't order online sometimes and if I'm just getting a darn sandwich, I don't want to wait 30 minutes. So the compensate for that I do buy my pound of coffee here occasionally when the line is not long and they have exceptional roasted coffee. That's right up there. Frankly better than what you would get from Phil's coffee, which is where I normally get my coffee. I get the Turkish roast there. I've also gotten the breakfast burrito and the French toast here. I'm not really a fan of those two dishes here. I can get a better breakfast burrito and french toast elsewhere. But the breakfast sandwich is here are off the hook. I recommend this place any day. It has an awesome vibe. Really great customer service. Really cool people work here and it's a really cool location. I love East Hollywood. read more

The staff was friendly, and it was a nice atmosphere. My breakfast pasta dish was pretty disappointing however, though my friend liked her eggs Benedict. The breakfast pasta was an egg based sauce, so I expected it to be creamy like carbonara, but it seemed more like if an omelet was chopped up onto a pasta, and was kind of bland. It is also one of those places where you basically fully serve yourself (including having to get up to grab a fork myself since the cup o' silverware they brought us only had spoons) but still are asked to tip at least 15% on the payment screen. No water or refills on anything, no sugar/milk on the tables, really a cafe with restaurant pricing. I'd go back for a coffee or pastry, but not for a meal. read more

This place is amazing. I'm almost reluctant to give it five stars because I don't want anyone else to know about it, but I wanted to try out a new coffee shop while my sister was in town and this was a perfect choice. Immediately we walked in and the barista at the counter started chatting with us. Both were super friendly and joked around with us and there was none of that barista "cooler-than-thou" awkwardness you sometimes get. Their pastries looked amazing, and even though we didn't try any we loved the Gay Oreos, haha. I got the California Cobb scramble and an iced latte, while my sister got a breakfast sandwich. Both were incredible, really filling, and generous portions--I couldn't finish mine, which NEVER happens. The inside is cool and comfortable, and very spacious. Free wi-fi, and definitely a great place to get some work done. The back patio is sunny and comfortable as well with lots of cute dogs. I wish I lived closer so this could become "my" coffee shop. This is a great little coffee shop in the heart of Hollywood. I had the French toast when I went. It was everything I expected and more. I really like that they offer a slice of cheese and apples as a side. It really combines the different flavors presented. My friends ordered the breakfast pasta, burrito and the sandwich.
