For the past three years, we've come down to Fort Lauderdale for a karate tournament, and every single time we've walked past Indian Harbor and said, "We really need to try that place." Well, today was finally the day! We intended to go somewhere else, but when we arrived we found out the restaurant was closed. So we walked to Indian Harbor instead, and we are so glad we did. The service was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in, and the food was incredible. We ordered Fish Tikka (Salmon): cooked perfectly, Chicken Saag: packed with rich flavor, and Garlic Naan: Fresh, warm, and delicious. Everything was so flavorful and perfectly seasoned, it completely hit the spot. Our only regret is that we didn't come here sooner over the last three years! We went for the Dine Out Lauderdale special but ended up just having lunch specials and loved our lunch trays that came with salad, a samosa, naan, a small portion of the curry for the day, plus our chosen entree, and a teeny dessert. The food (we got Lamb Rogan Josh and Lamb Madras) was spiced just right (medium---ask if you want it less or more spicy) and the meat was seasoned well, very tender, and luscious. Thanks to the pandemic, a couple of our favorite Indian restaurants in Broward County closed. Having been raised on Indian food and being a curry queen in the kitchen, not just any place will make me happy. And after our trip to India in 2018, I got even pickier. Hubby and I went at lunch time planning to try the Dine Out Fort Lauderdale menu at The Indian Harbor restaurant. We liked the lunch menu so much, we had that instead. It's a nicely decorated, linen napkins kind of place. The lunch box prices were the same as listed for the entree at dinnertime. But at lunch you get a smaller serving plus accompaniments: a teeny salad (served separately), and the rest were in a multi-compartment lunch tray (a small curry of the day---ours was chickpeas, a samosa, a naan, and a weeny cup of rice pudding for dessert). We were fine with what was offered. Hubby ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and I got the Lamb Madras. We didn't realize until we spooned food into our mouths that they never asked for a spice level. The waiter said they automatically serve the entrees mild. But ours were a tad spicier than mild, yet perfect for us. (If you want a really mild flavor, be sure to ask ahead of time.) Everything was delicious. The spices were perfect; the meat was tender. I asked for some tamarind chutney (for my samosa and naan) and got a light, delicious sauce. Hubby said that next time he would pass up the little dishes and just get a full entree. I may do the same but I did love being able to get all the side dishes, and I didn't mind the smaller portion main dish. Our bill was $40 for two including tax and tip. For lunch or dinner, this will probably be our new go-to Indian restaurant. read more

Wow! This food is amazing. We did takeout tonight and ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (2 orders, one spicy and one medium) the medium was the PERFECT level of spice. The chicken was tender and the veggies were delicious. The sauce was bright and flavorful, definitely has an acid in it like a lemon/lime juice that keeps it bright and not so heavy. The garlic naan was good, but a little on the thin/flimsy side. Portions of both meals were large and were good for a dinner and small lunch tomorrow. Will order again! read more

My friend recommended the Bento Box lunch special and I'm so glad she did. This choice is perfect for the person who likes to have a sample and refuses to get a doggy bag to go. I asked for my box to be kid mild. I can honestly say it was the best tasting food that I've had in a long time. Pro tip: the Butter Chicken is not on the lunch menu. Inside looked nice so I definitely want to come back and dine-in, and if the takeout was any indication on their food, I know it'll be good. We got butter chicken with garlic naan and buttered naan. I had a craving for Indian food, which I absolutely love! Unfortunately, I don't eat it often enough. I stumbled across Indian Harbor and saw that it was highly rated. They definitely earned those ratings! Upon arrival, you are greeted at the host stand and I was probably sat. Interior decorations are great and, while slightly ostentatious, not gaudy. I was unaware that they have a weekday lunch special menu and I will definitely be back to try some other of the dishes on there, however I was in the mood for butter chicken and it did not disappoint! While in the mood for Indian food we decided to try this spot and order for delivery. Everything was packed carefully and arrived in perfect condition. Lamb rogan josh was order mild but it was very spicy so not sure it it was a mistake but ultimately it was very delicious. The lamb was tender. The butter chicken was ordered medium but was not spicy which is what makes me think that maybe the spice levels were swapped from the other dish. Again, it was also delicious, but the lamb was my favorite. Garlic Cheese Naan this things were addicting and I could had 10 of those. The chicken samosas was the only thing that I was not a fan. The outside was crispy, but the inside was kind of dry. I did use some other sauces and the sauce from the lamb, but still felt dry. I am Pakistani and really picky when it comes to Indian and Pakistani food, but this place was honestly amazing. I got the butter chicken, chicken biryani, and raita, and everything hit the spot. The butter chicken was super creamy and flavorful, and the biryani had a lot of good spices and tender chicken. They even sealed the biryani with naan on top, which made it even better. The naan on the side was fresh and soft, and the raita was a perfect cool side to balance everything out. Great find! Fort Lauderdale has better Indian cuisine than lower Manhattan by far. I went for lunch and we had lamb biryani and tandoori chicken (and Naan) Everything was excellent. We specifically told them to hold the spice and our wish was granted. The food was still tasty and I did not have to drink a gallon of water. The service was top notch. We love Indian food and are always on the hunt for the next big thing. Well, we found it! Their Chicken Tikka Masala is so flavorful and comes in a big portion. I almost had to be rolled out of the restaurant because of how full I was. Their garlic naan is the perfect complement to the dish in addition to the rice. We've been a few times and though we usually get the same thing for dinner (Chicken Tikka Masala), we like to try different apps. This past time, we had the Chicken 65 and the paneer chili to start and both were delicious! A little spicy, but super flavorful. Just a little FYI, if you're looking for spirits to enjoy with the meal, they don't have a full bar but their wine list is pretty extensive. We had made a point to meet for lunch and yes this is a fellow yelper. I am so happy to have met her, super charming, interesting, smart, and just a beautiful person inside and out. You can say yelping friends are great. Indian Harbor was very good from beginning to end. I had the mushroom marsala served on a bento plate. Julie had the same only with meat not sure which one. We had the lunch special which was about 12 or 14. I believe in the evening different plates are used from what I can remember in the past. This restaurant has authentic Indian food and the regular menu has more options. I had eaten at this restaurant when it was at the other location. I think this location is better, It is right on 17 st causeway, Chipole is also right next to it as well. There is more parking on the side of the building if you can't get a spot in the front. This was a very good lunch experience here today -- while meeting fellow Yelp Elite Lin H. We got here early to beat the lunch crowd, but they were not that busy. The restaurant actually faces SE 17th street. It's on the north side of the street. The gps directions led me into the back of the shopping center. I wound up parking and walking a bit until I found the restaurant. Inside the restaurant is very clean and modern. Service was quite good, too. They don't have a buffet here, but a menu of lunch specials. Each is like a Japanese bento box, but in each corner is an Indian delight. Prices range from $12 to $16. There are 5 vegetarian entrees plus 5 entrees with your choice of chicken or lamb. Each lunch special comes with the entree, white rice, appetizer, curry, naan (bread), and a dessert. Our boxes today included plain naan, white rice, a samosa, dal, and a mini rice pudding dessert. I chose their chicken tikka masala and she chose their mushroom masala. I got mine slightly spicy and it was perfect. A very good version of tikka with lots of white meat chicken in it. The flavorful dal was thin --almost like a soup, the basmati rice was fluffy, the naan warm, and the creamy pudding only slightly sweet. I didn't try the samosa, but I was told it was very spicy. They also have their regular menu should you not find something to your liking on the lunch menu. But for me, those specials are the way to go. I actually wound up taking a bit of my lunch home.
