Really disappointing given the highly rated reviews that took me here. Ordered chicken Kati rolls which was a joke. Grocery store naan bread wrapped over chicken pieces and tomato sauce. I am not a cook, but probably I can make better rolls than this. There were other orders on my table which were equally mediocre and below average. Great curry. Very adequately ​priced. Affordable compared to other curry purveyors. 9.63 for curry lunch special. (8.99+tax). Chicken tikka was some of the best I've ever had. Curried vegetables were spot on. This meal really hit the mark for me today. I was craving curry because of a restaurant near one of my delivery stops. After seeing the great reviews and the amount of food in a lunch special I was determined to get this for lunch. Was not disappointed. Not only will I be returning, but I'll be spreading the word. Service at 1145 was very fast. Food was hot, and perfectly flavored. Chicken was tender, cubes of goodness. Vegetables were broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Where do I start? We ordered samosa's, chicken with creamy curry sauce, it can't with Basmati rice. Everything was so yummy. The goat curry (with bones) and the lamb curry are outstanding. We also really enjoy the saag paneer and will try the saag chicken soon. We also have tried the Chana Masala, which was good, but I don't think you can compare it to the goat and lamb curries. The curries come with a separate container of rice. We like it spicy or medium-spicy. You can call in advance and place your order so you don't ha e to wait so long at the truck. Also, be careful to check the hours/days of operation so you aren't disappointed by going when they aren't open! Monday- Saturday 11am-2pm and 5-9:30pm, closed on Sundays. We have picked up from this truck at least 10 times in the last 4 or 5 months so I feel like I've had a good representative sampling of their food. read more

This place lost a steady patron based on customer service alone. The food is good. However, the guy who runs the truck is a real ass. He will scream at his customers without a second thought (note: there is at least one other review on here where a customer reported getting berated by the owner). I was a regular customer -- maybe once a week or once every other week -- and usually placed my orders over the phone to pick up. I had some issues in the past with phone orders. If they're slammed, the phone will ring or go to voicemail, so you might have to call multiple times. That's OK. I've also had them mess up my phone order. That also is OK. But my last phone order devolved into a shouting match with who I presume is the owner -- and it serves as a good example of how little this spot values its customers. Here's what happened: Called to place a phone order and kept getting voicemail until the guy who runs the truck picked up. I tell him I'd like to place an order, and he he says he won't take an order from a private number. It's not the first time we've encountered the private number issue since this is the same phone I use every time I order from them. My number is private, so it comes up that way on caller ID. But on this occasion the private number has become a real thorn in the process (mind you, I've never flaked on an order before). So I proceed to use my friends phone and call back with a listed number. We get voicemail, repeatedly. So I switch phones and call with the private number again. Low and behold the guy picks up. I explain that I've now called 8 times and just want to place an order. He insists on calling me back to verify, so we set that up. He calls, and it's all verified and the order is placed. But then he wants to go off on a loud spiel about the private number. There's no real point to this exercise, and I let him know. But his voice elevates to the point that he's now shouting through the phone at me. I tell him to lower his voice, but he keeps shouting. So I hang up on him while he's in mid-belch and drive down to see if he treats customers the same way in person. The answer is yes he does. When I arrived at his truck, he pulls out his phone to make a point about the private number -- as if I'm not aware and as if we haven't already discussed this issue. So I show him my phone and how I had to call 8 times to place an order and how he only answered when the private number called. It continues to escalate until the guy called me an "asshole" and shooed me away with his hand. read more

Quick tip: "Indian spicy" was really too spicy for me. I absolutely love spicy food and I typically order the spiciest foods and/or ask for the spiciest sauces. The food was bad. I ordered chicken tikka masala. The rice was fine but the sauce was bland, like something from a to-go shop at the airport. The samosas lacked flavor, the sauces were syrupy, and the mango custard was little more than an orange soup of sugar. I love Indian food. The best food/price value! Super generous portions! The combos which includes naan & dessert are atleast 2 meals! One time the goat biryani lasted me 4 meals! That's insane! I've tried almost all the entrees with the exception of tandoori items. Unfortunately, almost everything is super bland. The veggie combos are probably your best bet for flavor. Veg korma or Aloo Gobi are pretty good. The riata provided with all orders is bland as well. The custard is lackluster due to it being frozen and icy but that's to be expected at a food truck. Not sure what this extra friendly talk is about. I have not experience anything other than the usual interaction with the guy that I've seen there. If anything, he often seems irritated when you ask him questions or call in a takeout order. Nevertheless, even with the food being bland, it isn't bad. They are newly opened in South First and it took me a while to actually find them. I am glad that they finally put a BIG sign facing the street, that was really helpful :) They have combo plates. I ordered the mix combo plate for lunch and veggie samosa. My plate has veggie curry, spicy lamb curry, rice pilaf, naan bread and a mango dessert plus my appetizer of veggie samosa. All of that for less than $9. Amazing!! They give you a lot and can be shared by two people, seriously! Inexpensive quality indian food? Enter Bombay Dhaba food truck. I went here on Saturday night with a craving for Indian food. It's located on south 1st in a little trailer park (not the one next to torchy's, but the one north of that). It was kind of rainy outside, so there wasn't anyone else there. I ordered the paneer tikka masala. This has always been my favorite Indian dish because I love paneer and you can never go wrong with tikka masala (well, almost never). The rice it came with was really flavorful and the tikka masala sauce was pretty spicy. Really delicious. In total, I spent $11 for paneer tikka, naan, and a bottle of water. They had a decent sized seating area which was covered with a tarp and had a few picnic tables. The food truck itself could use some sprucing up as far as the logo and design go, but who cares, the food is great. Hidden gem. read more

Yes, it was good food, but I really don't see what all the hype is about. I would give in 3.5 stars if I could. Ordering lunch was confusing. You could have two veggies, a mix of one veggie and one meat , or two meat...but two veggie what?? Two meat what? When I ordered, I was told I couldn't have that, but I didn't know what to chose from. I looked at the dinner menu and picked Aloo Gobi... and he looked at me like I was crazy for ordering that.... Frustrating. So I got Saag Panner and Veggie Korma. When my food came, I had Veggie Korma, Chicken Tikki Masala and Chicken Curry. I don't eat meat but he gave me extra so I didn't complain. Instead, I went back and just ordered a Saag, thinking I would take the meat dishes home to my son. The saag was 9 dollars!! For pint of it. And then, he gave me an extra cup of it, who needs that much Saag Paneer?! And that Naan, it wasn't the size of a record, like one reviewer said...ok well maybe a 45. It was the exactly same size as a tortilla and it was flat and thin and oily. I have never seen naan like that. It tasted okay, but it wasn't what was described here or what I have had any where else. Our biggest beef was the amount of waste. Each dish came in a tiny styrofoam container. Each of us had six containers. Three main dishes (he threw in an extra, like the reviews all said), plus rice, riata, and a yummy mango pudding. That's a lot of trash. The food itself was good. I liked the Veggie Korma and Saag. I also liked my friend's Channa Masala okay....the Chai tea was good. But it wasn't the best ever or anything. You guys need to get over to Asiana for some top notch Indian food. read more

I've been to Austin a couple times before this past weekend, but had never heard of this place until this time (yelped quite a bit for new Indian food haunts in Austin). As we were driving from Houston and were getting to Austin around lunchtime, we decided to eat up our fill before we did anything else in Austin!! (We love food!!!). It was a rainy day in Austin and we were glad that there were a couple tables beside the truck, and they were covered. So rain shouldn't stop you from getting your Indian food fix ;) :). We ordered palak paneer, mutter paneer, vegetable korma and chicken tikka masala, and all these items come with a rice pilaf. We also got garlic naan and regular naan, and this was one of the best naans I've ever eaten. It was so fluffy and fresh!! All the curries were really yummy too and we enjoyed each one of them immensely. Hands down, this is the best Indian food I've eaten from a food truck!! Being a south indian guy, i was curious to taste and ordered them instead of the regular menu, the dosa and idli was delicious, they reminded me of home made breakfast back home. The food at the Bombay Dhabha is normal North Indian fare - nothing special but not bad either. The food seemed fresh and the tasted OK. However the South Indian food truck next to it is awesome - some of the best Idli/Dosas I have eaten in US. They can improve their sambar but the idlis were soft and the Dosa was crisp and filled with spicy powder and the chutneys were awesome Must try if you are into South Indian food. read more

Was holding off writing reviews for yelp due to the situation with covid-19. I did not want businesses to worry about reviews while worrying about operations too, however, I figured good food needed to be shared regardless of the situation. My partner and I have been trying new food trucks and supporting local business, and so we wanted to give bombay dhaba a go. We called ahead to order our food, and the lady on the phone said that they were really busy and to call them when we were on our way to get our food, so we did. When we arrived, our food was ready, all packed up nicely. I paid on site during collection. When we reached home and opened it up, we were extremely surprised by the portions! They were HUGE, despite the deceivingly small packaging. We ordered a lamb biryani, a chicken tikka masala, and a cheese bread. The first two items fed the two of us for two and a half meals!! The food was so good, with all the right flavors and spices, but not overly spicy for me (the biryani may be a little spicy for those not used to eating spice). I'm really glad to have found this place, and my partner and I are looking forward to our next visit! read more
